INMAN - James Marion Blackwell, Sr., 83, of 476 Cinnamon Ridge Drive, widower of Patsy Green Blackwell, died August 27, 2014 at his home.
A native of Spartanburg County, son of the late William and Elsie Ballew Blackwell, he was a graduate of Clemson A&M College, a U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Korean War, a retired employee of J.P. Stevens and of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are three daughters, Pamala B. DuBose (Michael) of Simpsonville, Lisa B. Edwards (Charles) of Potters Hill, North Carolina and Teresa D. Blackwell (Shannon) of Fayetteville, North Carolina; two sons, James Marion Blackwell, Jr. (Bridgette) of Advance, North Carolina and David Randall “Randy” Blackwell (Patricia) of Taylors; a brother, Roosevelt Blackwell of Greer; a sister, Geneva Kirby of Baltimore, Maryland; three step-children, Robin Smith, Dale Green and David Green; seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and six step-grandchildren.
Mr. Blackwell was predeceased by his first wife, Rose Clayton Blackwell and a grandson, James M. Blackwell III.
Funeral services were held 11:00 a.m. Saturday at The Wood Mortuary, conducted by Rev. Paul S. Waters and Mr. Marion Blackwell. Burial was 1:00 p.m. Saturday in Holly Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were grandsons and step-grandsons.
Visitation was held 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday at The Wood Mortuary.
The family is at the home of his son, Randy Blackwell.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 950 W. Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605.

Ruby Lee Johns
CHERAW - Mrs. Ruby Lee Johns, age 89, went home to be with her Lord on Friday, August 29, 2014.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, August 31, 2014, at Westfield Creek Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Johns was born June 28, 1925 in Chesterfield County, SC a daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin and Sarah Ellen Gulledge Lee. She was a retired employee of Sacony Industries with over 25 years of service. Mrs. Johns was a life long member of Westfield Creek Baptist Church, where she accepted Christ as her Savior at the age of 9. She loved her church and faithfully served the Lord for over 80 years. Her Christian service to the Lord included serving as a former Sunday school teacher, VBS teacher, and choir member. She was also a member of the Bereavement Committee, Church Flower Committee, Nominating Committee, and was actively involved in the WMU. Some of Mrs. Ruby’s hobbies included, knitting and crocheting, cooking, and working in her flowers and yard. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Willie B. Johns; 3 sons, Willie David Johns, Vincent Lee Johns, and Randy Neal Johns; and 1 daughter, Brenda Delores Wallace.
Survivors include 2 Sons: Larry (Barbara Borgardts) Johns of Lexington, SC and Jack F. (Patricia Attwell) Johns of Conway, SC; 1 Sister: Margie Kinney of Asheboro, NC; 1 Brother-in-law: Everette Johns of Charlotte, NC; Also: a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to any Hospice organization of one’s choice.

Ruth Gulledge Lisenby
CHESTERFIELD - Mrs. Ruth Gulledge Lisenby, age 91, died Tuesday, August 26, 2014.
A funeral service was held at 5:00 PM, Thursday, August 28, 2014, at Hopewell Baptist Church. Interment followed in the Church Cemetery.
Visitation immediately followed the service of committal in the Hopewell Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.
Mrs. Lisenby was born April 24, 1923 in Ruby, SC a daughter of the late Julius Preston and Ida Burch Gulledge. She was a graduate of Ruby High School, Class of 1940, and a retired employee of Burlington Industries, with 35 years of service. Mrs. Lisenby was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church, where she served as a former Sunday school teacher, choir member, member of the fellowship hall committee, and a faithful member of the WMU. Ruth was a true people person, who never met a stranger. She enjoyed faithfully serving in her church, and her greatest love was for that of her family. In addition to her parents, Ruth was also preceded in death by her husband, James E. “Bill” Lisenby; 2 brothers, Jimmy and Ellis Gulledge; and 1 sister, Lucy Martin.
Survivors include 3 Sons: Mitchell (Doris) Lisenby, Dewitt (Patricia) Lisenby both of Chesterfield, SC, and Kevin (Janice) Lisenby of Lancaster, SC; 3 Daughters: Billie (Glynn) Sikes, Catherine (David) Sellers, and Sherri Linton all of Chesterfield, SC; 13 Grandchildren: Debra (Clay) Morphis of Chapin, SC, Tammy (Rev. Harold) Cooke, Glenda Freeman, Caroline Tyler, Marie (Rick) Bass, Chris (Barbara Gail) Sellers, Michele (Neil) Adams, Michael (Chasity) Lisenby, Thomas Linton, and Jarred Linton all of Chesterfield, SC, Angie Lisenby of Cheraw, SC, Jimmy (Kim) Lisenby of Ruby, SC, and Cory Lisenby of Lancaster, SC; Also: 22 Great Grandchildren.
The family would like to express their heart-felt appreciation to all the caregivers, and the staff of Chesterfield Convalescent Center for the love and care shown to Mrs. Lisenby.

Wadesboro, N.C. - Mrs. Ruby Horne Rushing Harward, age 94, died Friday, August 15, 2014.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, August 17, 2014, at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Cross Roads Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation is from 2:00 – 3:00 PM Sunday, August 17, 2014, prior to the service at the Funeral Home.
Mrs. Harward was born in McFarlan, NC, a daughter of the late Luther Martin and Sallie Lang Horne. She was a homemaker, and a member of Cross Roads Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, Ruby was also preceded in death by her husbands, Tom W. Rushing, and Jessie B. Harward; a brother, Loyd Eugene “Gene” Horne; and sisters, Grace H. Stancil, Geneva H. Roscoe, Susie H. Baker, Ruth H. Mills, and Irene H. Owens.
Survivors include Daughter: Betty Rushing (Jerry) Gulledge of West Columbia, SC; Son: W.T. (Sylvia) Rushing of Ruby, SC; Step Daughter: Shelby Shoemaker of Monroe, NC; Step Daughter-in-law: Velma N. Harward of Savannah, GA; Grandchildren: Tommy Rushing of Bennettsville, SC and Jean R. (Jason) Watson of Chesterfield, SC; Step Grandchildren: Cindy Martin of Clayton, GA, Lisa Martin, Jimmy, Jeffrey, and Kenneth Howell all of Monroe, NC; and Great Grandchild: Tiffany and Bryan Watson, and David and John Rushing.

Johnny L. Jenkins
CHESTERFIELD - Mr. Johnny L. Jenkins, age 75, died Friday, August 15, 2014.
A funeral service will be held at 5:00 P.M. Sunday, August 17, 2014, at Cross Roads Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.
Visitation is from 4:00 – 5:00 P.M. Sunday, August 17, 2014, prior to the service in the Cross Roads Baptist Church Family Life Center.
Mr. Jenkins was born February 14, 1939, in Ruby, SC, a son of the late Lemuel Frank and Emma Kirkley Jenkins. He was a graduate of Ruby High School, Class of 1956. Johnny was a faithful member of Cross Roads Baptist Church, having served as Trustee, Chairman of Deacons, Financial Secretary, Church Treasurer, Brotherhood Director, Sunday School Teacher, and Choir member. He was a former employee of Springs Industries, FCX Inc. and Gold Kist Inc., where he served as store manager for over twenty years. Johnny retired June 30, 2009 as Chesterfield County Auditor, having served for twenty years. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, a member of the American Legion Post # 74, VFW Post # 10731, Chesterfield Masonic Lodge # 220, and the Woodmen of the World Lodge # 516. Johnny loved his Lord, his family, and was a true people person. He enjoyed working in his garden and yard. In addition to his parents, Johnny was also preceded in death by his brothers, James, Hiram, Joe, and Bobby Jenkins; his sister, Betty Jenkins Lowder; and sister-in-law, Kathy H. Raffaldt.
Survivors include Wife of 47 years: Elma Hancock Jenkins; Mother-in-law: Kathleen “Pete” Hancock; Nieces and Nephews: Cindy (Robbie) Robertson, Joel (Heather) Jenkins, Vernon Moseley, Jamie (Jami) Brown, Michael (April) Brown, Jason (Melanie) Brock, Wesley (Kim) Brock, Philip (Jen) Sellers, Amanda (Justin Stanton) Raffaldt, Mary Eleanor Jenkins, Ann Jenkins, Jean (Ronnie) Chambers; Brothers-in-law and Sisters-in-law: Leonard Hancock, Janice and Bobby Brown, Carolyn and Weldon Sellers, Cindy and Wilbur Brock; Numerous Great Nieces and Nephews; And his beloved Feline Companion: Tiger.

KERSHAW - Mr. Chester Melton, age 74, died Sunday, August 10, 2014.
A funeral service was held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, August 13, 2014, at Antioch Baptist Church.
Interment followed in the Long Branch Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation was from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home, Chesterfield, SC.
Mr. Melton was born May 29, 1940 in Chesterfield, SC a son of the late John and Lucy Boone Melton. He was a retired construction welder. Chester loved the Lord, and was a member of Antioch Baptist Church for 56 years. He was a strong family man and loved giving candy to children. Chester also enjoyed wood crafting, gardening, raising farm animals, and fishing. In addition to his parents, Chester was also preceded in death by four brothers, Manuel, Emzia, Joe, and James Melton; and three sisters, Daisey Lowery, Omega Grooms, and Kathleen Lloyd.
Survivors include Wife: Thelma Cook Melton of the home; 3 Sons: Randy (Angie) Rollins of Wallace, SC, Jeff (Robin) Rollins of Mt. Croghan, SC, and John Wayne (Lori) Melton of Kershaw, SC; 4 Daughters: Elizabeth Miles and fiancé Lenttis Williams, Darla Oliver and fiancé Jim Watts, and Angie Miles all of Jefferson, SC, and Ravonda (Wayne) Crayton of Rocky Mount, NC; 2 Brothers: Harry Melton of Jefferson, SC and Harlan Melton of Kershaw, SC; 1 Sister: Peggy Miles of Jefferson, SC; Also 17 Grandchildren and 17 Great Grandchildren.

Edwin E. Miller Jr.
JEFFERSON - Mr. Edwin E. Miller Jr., 83, of Jefferson, SC, passed away on Sunday, August 10, 2014, in Charleston, SC.
Mr. Edwin E. Miller Jr. was born on May 26, 1931 in Jefferson, South Carolina to the late Edwin E. Sr. and William H. Beatson Miller. Mr. Edwin E. Miller Jr. was later united in marriage to Joan Middleton. He served in the US National Guard and was a member of Jefferson United Methodist Church. He was the Owner and Operator of Miller Grocery Store in Jefferson, SC for many years. He is predeceased by his parents Edwin E Miller Sr. and William H. Beatson Miller and his brother Jack Miller.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Joan Middleton Miller of Jefferson, SC; Son, Rusty Miller ( Kelly) of Jefferson, SC; Daughter, Ceil (David) Murphy of Marietta, GA and six Grandchildren, Will Murphy, Anna Murphy and Matthew Murphy all of Marietta, GA and Ben Miller, Katherine Miller and Jordan Miller all of Jefferson, SC.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service was held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at Jefferson United Methodist Church.
The family visited with friends on Tuesday at the home of Edwin Miller Jr., and after the Memorial Service in the Fellowship Hall of Jefferson United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Moore was born June 20, 1927, in Chesterfield, SC, a daughter of the late Luther Peter and Annie McLain Grooms. She was the retired owner and operator of Farmer’s Grocery in the Cash community and was a former employee of B.C. Moore’s and Sacony. Myrtle was also a patient caregiver and was a member of Westfield Creek Baptist Church. She enjoyed word search puzzles, cooking, reading and helping others. In addition to her parents, Myrtle was also preceded in death by her husband, James Hazel Moore, a son, Randy Moore, 3 daughters, Faye and Lucille Moore and infant Moore, a sister Dorothy G. Baskins, and by 2 brothers, Bradley and Carl Grooms.
Survivors include Daughter: Dianne M. (Edward) Brock of Cheraw, SC; Daughter-in-law: Cynthia B. Ms. Bradshaw was born October 27, 1946, in Ruby, SC a daughter of the late Carson and Beulah Oliver Donahue. She was a former employee of Chesterfield Manufacturing Co. and a member of Clanton Plains Baptist Church. Margie enjoyed yard sales, going out to eat, hummingbirds, wind chimes, and being a grandmother. In addition to her parents, Margie was also preceded in death by her companion, Randy Sellers, and by a sister, Jean D. Gulledge.

Mrs. McGee was born September 9, 1972, in Monroe, NC a daughter of Joanne Kearns Burgess and Ronald Preston Sellers. She was a 1990 graduate of Chesterfield High School and a U.S. Air Force Veteran. Nicole was a secretary with the family business Shade Trends. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, camping, hiking, and spending time with her family. Nicole was preceded in death by her grandparents Otis and Helen Sellers, and Jay and Estelle Kearns.
Survivors include Husband: Steven Charles McGee of the home; 1 Son: Preston Wayne McGee of the home; Parents: Joanne K. Burgess of Pageland, SC and Ronald “Ronnie” Preston Sellers of Cheraw, SC; and 2 Brothers: John Walter (Rita) Burgess of Pageland, SC and William Casey Sellers of Cheraw, SC.
