CHESTERFIELD - Mr. Roger Hallenbeck Buccolo, age 61, died Friday, July 11, 2014.
A memorial service will be held at 6:00 PM, Monday, July 14, 2014 at Cheraw Family Worship.
Visitation will be from 5:00 – 6:00 PM, Monday, prior to the service at the church.
Mr. Buccolo was born April 14, 1953 in Brooklyn NY a son of James Peter Buccolo and the late Eleanor Hallenbeck Buccolo. He was a graduate of Franklin K. Lane High School and a U.S. Army Veteran. Roger was a department manager with Lowe’s in Hartsville, SC and a member of Cheraw Family Worship. Roger enjoyed fishing, reading, fixing things, helping others, and working on projects. He was a true people person.
Survivors include Wife of 22 years: Jennifer E. Buccolo of the home; 4 Sons: James Peter Buccolo of the home, Justin, Roger, and Nikki Buccolo all of FL; Father: James Peter Buccolo of Sandgate, VT; 3 Sisters: Stephanie Iannuzzi of Commack, NY, Virginia Bachert of Moosic, PA, and Helen Lakwitz of Baldwin, NY; Uncle: John Buccolo of CT; Also Nieces and Nephews.

James F. 'Sonny' Cato
PAGELAND - Mr. James F. “Sonny” Cato, age 79, died Wednesday, July 9, 2014.
A graveside service was held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, July 12, 2014 at Rose Hill Cemetery.
Friends called from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Friday, July 11, 2014 at the home of Mr. Cato.
Mr. Cato was born July 23, 1934 in Pageland, SC a son of the late Clarence Floyd and Nezzie Hicks Cato. He was a 1952 graduate of Pageland High School and received an associate’s degree from Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte, NC. Mr. Cato was a retired route and terminal manager with Merita Bread Company, and was a former employee of C.M. Tucker Lumber Company. He was a U.S. Army Veteran. Mr. Cato was a true outdoorsman, who enjoyed playing golf. In addition to his parents, Sonny was also preceded in death by his wife, Bianca Jolly “Binnie” Cato; 2 sons, Bo and Timothy Cato; 2 sisters, Thayer Richardson and Carolyn Mills; and 1 brother-in-law, Arnold Threatt.
Survivors include 3 Sons: Jay (Rene`) Cato of Chesterfield, SC, Jeff (Casey) Cato and Scott (Sharon) Cato both of Lancaster, SC; 1 Step Daughter: Angela Susan Starnes of Charlotte, NC;

CHESTERFIELD - Mrs. Sadie Melton Clark, age 89, died Saturday, July 12, 2014 at her home.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM, Monday, July 14, 2014 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Clark was born September 15, 1924 in Chesterfield, SC a daughter of the late Thomas Levi and Lela Rivers Melton. She was a graduate of Chesterfield High School, and a retired supervisor with Chesterfield Manufacturing Co. Sadie was a member of Chesterfield Presbyterian Church and also attended Maranatha Family Center. She enjoyed sewing, fishing, shopping, traveling, and spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, Sadie was also preceded in death by her husband, Milton C. “Bill” Clark, Jr.; a daughter, Amanda Clark Davis; and by six brothers and three sisters.
Survivors include 2 Sons: Chuck (Marsha) Clark of Chesterfield, SC and Richard (Dawn) Clark of Florence, SC; 1 Daughter: Mary Clark of Chesterfield, SC; 1 Sister: Sybil Melton Muir of Chesterfield, SC; Also 9 Grandchildren and 8 Great Grandchildren.

Tyrone Clark
PATRICK - Memorial services for Tyrone Clark age 60 will be held Sunday at 3:00 pm at Chapel of Norton Funeral Home. Mr. Carl Purvis will officiate. Visitation will be following the services at the funeral home. Tyrone passed away June 11, 2014. He was born in Bishopville, SC, the son of the late John Wesley Clark and Annie Bell Hopkins Hooker. He was a member of Whispering Pine Baptist Church. He was employed with the City of Hartsville, Parks and Recreation Maintenance Division, he enjoyed fishing and was an avid outdoorsman. He loved God and his family faithfully. Surviving his wife of 41 years, Lois C. Clark, Patrick; his mother of Darlington, son, T.J. Clark, Patrick; daughters, Charlotte Thompson and her fiancé’ Brad Nicholson, McBee, Christy Clark, Patrick; brothers, R.W. Boykin, Hartsville, Junior Boykin, Hartsville, Tony Blackwell, Darlington, John (Doodle) Clark, McBee; sister, Carolyn Woods, Jessup, GA; 4 grandchildren, Cameron Thompson, Kaleigh Thompson, Darren Clark, Abigail Clark; Special sister in law and her husband, Jayne and Bobby Brady, Gastonia, NC; his best friend Carl Purvis. Rosa Mae Craft
CHERAW - Rosa Mae Craft, 90, died Friday, July 4, 2014. Born in Cheraw, SC she was a daughter of the late John C. and Rosa Mae Tyson Matheson. She was the widow of Robert L. Craft. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Cheraw, SC and taught Sunday School for 50+ years. She enjoyed working in her flowers; she considered it therapy for her. Most of all she loved her family and had a servant’s heart.
Surviving her are her daughters, Mary C. (Clyde) Baker of Columbia, SC, Judy (Pat) Martin of Florence, SC, Elizabeth Smith of Cheraw, SC, a daughter-in-law, Wanda Craft of Cheraw, SC, a brother, Billy (Frances) Matheson of Marietta, GA, a sister, Dorothy (Wilson) Brown of Irmo, SC, nine grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband listed above, also, a son Johnnie L. Craft, brothers, Leslie Matheson, Roy Matheson, David Matheson, Elliott Matheson, Dock Matheson, Ernest Matheson and sisters, Clara Matheson and Lillie Wallace.
The family received friends 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM Sunday, July 6, 2014 at Kiser Funeral Home, Cheraw, SC.
A funeral service was held 2:00 PM Sunday, July 6, 2014 at Kiser Funeral Home, Cheraw, SC. Burial was in Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens.

Mary McDonald Johnson
HARTSVILLE - Funeral services for Mary McDonald Johnson, 74, will be held at 1:00 pm Monday, July 14, 2014 at Cedar Creek Baptist Church.
The Rev. Jeff Williams will officiate with burial in Westview Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm on Sunday at Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home.
Mrs. Johnson, widow of Gene Autry Johnson, died Thursday, July 10, 2014. Born in Chesterfield Co, SC, she was a daughter of the late Lonnie Thomas and Letha Beasley McDonald .
She was a member of Cedar Creek Baptist Church and was a Sunday school teacher. She was previously employed with Sara Lee and Belk. She enjoyed life and her family.
Surviving are her sons, Woody (Tanya) Johnson of Greenville, NC, Daniel (Heather Byrd) Johnson of McBee, SC; daughters, Wendy (Kenny) Howle of Hartsville, SC, Donna (Boyce) Howle of Hartsville, SC, Tonya (Lawrence) Hawkins of Hartsville, SC; sisters, Margaret Lunn, Lugoff, SC, Mildred Thompson, Hartsville, SC; grandchildren, Casey (Kristy) Johnson, Trent (Heather) Johnson, Jerry (Tiffany) Howle, Amanda (Jay) Gibson, Kenneth (Rachel) Howle, Courtney (Shane Jones) Hawkins, Jessie Hawkins, Tate Hawkins, Gage Fischer, Lindsay Byrd; great-grandchildren, Chloe Hawkins, Grace Jones, Shepherd Howle, Vivian Howle, Tex Johnson. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Josh Howle; brother, Legette McDonald.

CHESTERFIELD - Mrs. Brenda King Quick, age 61, died Thursday, July 10, 2014 at her home.
A funeral service was held at 4:00 PM, Saturday, July 12, 2014 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed in the Shiloh United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Visitation was from 3:00 – 4:00 PM, Saturday, July 12, 2014, prior to the service at the Funeral Home.
Mrs. Quick was born July 18, 1952 in Chesterfield, SC a daughter of the late Arthur Weldon and Marion Idell Marze King. She was a graduate of Chesterfield High School, Class of 1970, and attended Chesterfield/Marlboro TEC where she attained her LPN degree in 1993. Mrs. Quick retired as a nurse from CareSouth-Carolina Physicians Office in Hartsville, SC. Brenda loved animals and had a special place in her heart for her parrots. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Lance Quick.
Survivors include 1 Daughter: Tammy Michelle Horton of Rock Hill, SC; 3 Step Daughters: Elesha Ann (Porter Hamilton Claytor, Sr.) Quick of Chesterfield, SC, Deanna Leigh Quick of Patrick, SC, and Paula Michelle Quick of Cheraw, SC; 7 Step Grandchildren: Harley Elizabeth Griffin, Summer Nicole Griffin, Porter Hamilton Claytor, Jr., Annabelle Caroline Claytor, Ciara Leigh Jacobs, Cody Lance Jacobs, and Hayden Bernard Wyatts; 3 Aunts: Millie K. Elizabeth Highsmith Brown
CHERAW - Mrs. Elizabeth Highsmith Brown, age 91, died Monday, June 23, 2014 at her home after a long illness.
A funeral service was held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, July 3, 2014 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed in the Zoar United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Visitation was from 10:00 – 11:00 AM, Thursday, July 3, 2014 prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Brown was born June 9, 1923 in Baltimore, MD a daughter of the late William Adrian Highsmith and Jane Marsh Hollins. She was a U.S. Army Veteran and met her husband at the NCO club in Baltimore MD. After marriage and living in Baltimore for five years, she moved to SC where she resided for 40 years. Mrs. Brown had a ceramic shop in Chesterfield, SC and was very active in the Zoar United Methodist Church. Elizabeth loved to travel, cared deeply for her friends, and loved her little Yorkie named “Snoopie”. In addition to her parents, Elizabeth was also preceded in death by her husband Bill Brown.
Survivors include a Cousin: Joan Sterner of Perry Hall MD; Also Nieces and Nephews.

Fred Garland Canipe
MORVEN - Mr. Fred Garland Canipe, age 85, died Friday, June 27, 2014.
A funeral service was held at 4:00 P.M. Monday, June 30, 2014 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel, Chesterfield, SC. Interment followed in Anson Memorial Park, Wadesboro, NC.
Visitation was from 3:00 – 4:00 P.M. Monday, June 30, 2014 prior to the service at the Funeral Home.
Mr. Canipe was born November 5, 1928, in Newton, NC, a son of the late Fred Colon and Cordie Dell Clarke Canipe. He was a former truck driver and furniture builder, and was former owner and operator of B & M Furniture Manufacturing. Mr. Canipe was of the Baptist faith. Garland enjoyed feeding his horse and cows. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Edith Stamey Canipe; daughter, Mary Ellen Canipe; 3 brothers, Glenn, Ray, and Everett Canipe; and a sister, Joyce Young.
Survivors include 6 Sons: Roger (Allison) Canipe of Chesterfield, SC, Ricky (Barara) Canipe of Keystone Heights, FL., Bobby (Sherry) Canipe of Vale, NC, Michael (Bonnie) Canipe of Chesterfield, SC, Chippy Canipe of Morven, NC, and David Canipe of Chesterfield, SC; 1 Daughter: Peggy (Mike) Raines of Chesterfield, SC; 2 Brothers: Billy Canipe and Steve Canipe of Maiden, NC; 3 Sisters: Vera Foster of Maiden, NC, Frances Dillinger of Pumpkin Center, NC, and Lois Mellon of Maiden, NC; Also 15 Grandchildren, 19 Great Grandchildren, and 1 Great Great Grandchild.

Laimon Carter
CHERAW - Funeral services for Laimon Carter, 78, were held July 1st at Pee Dee Union Baptist Church. Burial with full military honors followed at Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens. Carter died at his home on June 26th surrounded by his wife, family, and close friends. Mr. Carter, fondly known as Lucky, was born on March 20, 1936 in Chester, SC.
Carter was educated in the New York City Public School System before enlisting in the United States Army in 1955. He served with Company B, 2nd Airborne Battle Group, 187th Infantry Battalion and received an Honorable Discharge in 1957. He later joined the U.S. Army Reserves and retired in 1995 at the rank of staff sergeant. Staff Sergeant Carter fought in Desert Storm/Desert Shield in 1990 – 1991 as a member of the 119th Transportation Company.
Lucky married the former Josephine Stover on March 26, 1960 sharing 54 years together.
Laimon retired from the New York City Manhattan and Bronx Surface Transit Operators Authority in 1992 driving bus for over twenty years. His family then relocated to Cheraw. He continued driving bus for the Chesterfield County School District and later became a School Crossing Guard for the Cheraw Police Department.
He joined Pee Dee Union Baptist Church serving on the Trustee Board and Transportation Committee until his health declined. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, watching western movies, and listening to music. Lucky was a “people person” who valued friendships and being a mentor.
Mr. Carter was preceded in death by his mother Scotia Shaw of Chester, SC and brother David Shaw Sr. of Bronx, NY.
Laimon leaves to cherish his memory, wife Josephine; two daughters Lania (Darryl) Carter-Johnson of Springfield Gardens, NY and Rhonda Soden of Cheraw, SC; son Roy of Georgia; grandson, Devin Johnson; sister, Jessie Thomas of Charlotte, NC; and man’s best friend, “Princess.”
Morris Funeral Cottage was in charge of arrangements.
Genola 'Jenny' Eddins Gaddy
CHESTERFIELD - Ms. Genola “Jenny” Eddins Gaddy, age 82, died Saturday, June 28, 2014.
A funeral service was held at 5:00 PM, Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at Westfield Creek Baptist Church.
Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Visitation was from 4:00 – 5:00 PM, Tuesday, July 1, 2014, prior to the service at the Church.
Ms. Gaddy was born, March l3, 1932, in Chesterfield, SC, a daughter of the late Mary Eva Oliver. She was a retired employee of Burlington Industries with 30 plus years of service. Ms. Gaddy was a member of Westfield Creek Baptist Church, where she served as former Sunday school teacher and choir member. Jenny enjoyed fishing, cooking, growing flowers, and spending time with her grandchildren. In addition to her mother, Jenny was also preceded in death by her first husband, Buck Eddins and by her daughter Kathy Eddins Morris.
Survivors include Companion: Clinton Ratliff of Cheraw, SC; Grandchildren: Whitney Morris, Rosie Morris, and Christian Morris; Son-in-law: Sammy Morris of Chesterfield, SC.
