CHERAW - Mrs. Maude Quick Parnell, age 88, died Sunday, February 9, 2014 at her home.
A graveside service was held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at First Southern Methodist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Parnell was born August 31, 1925 in Bennettsville, SC a daughter of the late Manley Jackson and Lula Mae Hubbard Quick. She was a homemaker, and along with her husband, were former owner and operator of Parnell’s Grocery. Maude was a charter member of First Southern Methodist Church. She enjoyed being a grandmother.
Survivors include Husband of 57 years: Roy F. Parnell of the home; 1 Son: Harvel Parnell and wife Joy of Cheraw, SC; 2 Grandchildren: Kate and Chris Parnell; Sister-in-law: Sue P. Mancill of Cheraw, SC; Special Niece: Jennie Turnage.
The family received family and friends at the home, 101 Dogwood Circle, Cheraw, SC.

Charlie Boyd Quick Jr.
CHERAW - Mr. Charlie Boyd Quick Jr., age 74, died Friday, February 14, 2014 at his home.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM, Sunday, February 16, 2014 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be at a later date.
Visitation was 5:00 – 7:00 PM, Saturday, February 15, 2014 at the funeral home.
Mr. Quick was born July 17, 1939 in Bennettsville, SC a son of the late Charlie Alfred and Ida Mae Quick. He was a retired welder and carpenter. Charlie enjoyed fishing, gardening, and bird watching. In addition to his parents, Charlie was also preceded in death by a brother, Donald Gary Quick; and by three sisters, Frances Geddings, Joyce Threadgill, and Lillie Faye Massey.
Survivors include Wife: Elizabeth McIntrye Quick of the home; 2 Sons: Charlie Gary (Brandy) Quick of Cheraw, SC and Raymond Earl McIntrye of Wallace, SC; 3 Daughters: Jackie L. Quick of Cheraw, SC, Denise (Ricky) Tucker of Rock Hill, SC, and Brenda (Kevin) Cribb of Wallace, SC; 1 Sister: Nancy Louise Quick of Chesterfield, SC; Also 6 Grandchildren, 1 Great Grandchild, Nieces and Nephews.

PATRICK - Ms. Elaine Brown Rivers, age 63, died Saturday, February 8, 2014 at her home.
A funeral service was held at 4:00 PM, Monday, February 10, 2014 at Patrick Baptist Church.
Interment will follow in the Patrick Cemetery.
Visitation was from 2:00 – 4:00 PM, Monday, February 10, 2014 prior to the service at the church.
Ms. Rivers was born February 6, 1951 in Hartsville, SC a daughter of Clara Mae Perdue Brown and the late Clarence L. Brown, Jr. She was a clerk at Teal’s Mill Mini-Mart and was a former Weller employee and former department manager with Bi-Lo. Elaine was a member of Patrick Baptist Church and also attended Patrick Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed fishing, reading, gardening, cross word puzzles, watching QVC, and spending time with her grandchildren. In addition to her father, Elaine was also preceded in death by her brother Rocky Brown.
Survivors include 2 Sons: John R. (Kathy) Rivers Jr. and Shon (Lori) Rivers both of Hartsville, SC; 4 Grandchildren: Noah Rivers, Ava Rivers, Cayla McDaniel, and Jacob Clark

Danny Ray Steen
MT. CROGHAN - Mr. Danny Ray Steen, age 52, died Sunday, February 9, 2014.
A funeral service was held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel, Chesterfield, SC. Interment followed in the Rocky Creek Baptist Church Cemetery
Visitation was from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. Monday, February 10, 2014 at the Funeral Home.
Mr. Steen was born March 17, 1961 in Pageland, SC a son of Bessie Wallace Steen and the late Grover Steen. He was a sales associate with Wadesboro Lumber & Barns, Inc., and was a member of Rocky Creek Baptist Church. Danny enjoyed auto racing, riding four wheelers, and hanging out with his family and friends. In addition to his father, Danny was also preceded in death by a brother, Mickey Steen.
Survivors include Wife: Julie Riner Steen of the home; 2 Stepsons: Justin Riner of Pageland, SC and John Johnson of Lancaster, SC; Mother: Bessie Wallace Steen of Mt. Croghan, SC; 3 Brothers: Don (Bonnie) Steen, Basil Steen, and Randy Steen all of Mt.Croghan, SC; 4 Sisters: Joan Baker of Pageland, SC, Gloria (Robbie Adams) Dennis of Ruby, SC, Wanda (Dock) Donahue of Mt. Croghan, SC, and Betty (Roy) Laney of Kershaw, SC; Also Nieces and Nephews.

Rex Anthony Dillard
CHERAW - Rex Anthony Dillard, 76, died Friday, February 7, 2014. Born in North Wilkesboro, NC he was a son of Blanche Cheek Boan of Cheraw, SC and was the widower of Donnie Wallace Dillard. He was a US Army Veteran. Mr. Dillard was retired from Spartan Express and was driver of the year in 1995. He was an avid sports fan, pulling for the Boston Red Sox and the Duke Basketball teams. He enjoyed golfing, racing, fishing and traveling.
Surviving are his daughters, Donna (Robert) Teal of Cheraw, SC, Vickie (Gray) Walters of Chesterfield, SC, Kim (Ryan) LeBraun of Fayetteville, NC, his mother listed above, a sister, Martha (Francis) Menius of Kannapolis, NC, grandchildren, Christopher Hunter, Ashley Walters, Garrick Walters, Landen Walters, great-grandchildren, Mariah Johnson, Bryson Hunter, Ashlyn Blackman and Laken Soles.
He was preceded in death by his wife listed above and a brother, Roy Junior Boan.
The family will receive friends 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Sunday, February 9, 2014 at Kiser Funeral Home, Cheraw, SC.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM, Monday, February 10, 2014 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Cheraw, SC. Burial with military honors will be in the church cemetery.

George Lee Kirkley
JEFFERSON - George Lee Kirkley, 93, died February 6, 2014.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, February 10, 2014 at White Plains Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.
Visitation will follow the service in the Fellowship Hall.
Mr. George Lee Kirkley was born in Chesterfield County, SC to the late Thomas Richard and Lula Rollings Kirkley. He worked at the Grace Plant of Springs Industries for 29 years. Mr. Kirkley was a member of White Plains Baptist Church. He served as a Deacon since 1949 at Long Branch Baptist Church and White Plains Baptist Church. He also served in the US Army during World War II. Mr. Kirkley was a member of the American Legion and served as a County Commissioner. He is preceded in death by 4 Brothers, 1 Sister and 2 Granddaughters.
Survivors include Wife, Lola Johnson Kirkley of the home, Sons, Everette Kirkley of Jefferson, SC, Tom Kirkley of Lancaster, SC and Rev. Ken Kirkley (Rhonda) of Lyman, SC, Daughters, Ann Watts of Jefferson, SC and Faye Faulkenberry ( Julian) of Lancaster, SC, Many Nieces and Nephews, Nine Grandchildren, Twenty Six Great Grandchildren and Five Great Great Grandchildren.

Stanley 'Stan' Laney Mungo
PAGELAND - Mr. Stanley “Stan” Laney Mungo, age 51, died Sunday, February 2, 2014 at his home.
Funeral services were 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, February 5, 2014, at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel, Chesterfield, SC, the family received Family and Friends Wednesday from 10:00 – 11:00 A.M. prior to the service at the Funeral Home.
Mr. Mungo was born March 3, 1962, in Monroe, N.C. a son of Perry L. “Bo” and Frances Hinson Mungo. He was a graduate of Central High School and attended Wingate University and Horry Georgetown TEC, where he received an engineering degree. Stan was a retired Commercial Contractor and a member of First Baptist Church of Pageland, SC. Stan was an avid golfer, a huge sports fan, and especially enjoyed watching his daughter play softball.
Survivors are his wife, Patty Spach Mungo of the home, 2 daughters, Sophia Lorraine Mungo of Charlotte, NC and Laney Spach Mungo of the home. His parents, Bo and Frances Mungo of Pageland, SC, a brother, Neil (Robin) Mungo of Pageland, SC, and a sister, Alishia (Paul) Branham of Camden, SC, also a niece, Mary Frances Branham, and nephews, Nathan, Reed, and Steven Branham and Sam and Will Mungo.

HARTSVILLE - Funeral services for Sheila A. Polson age 54, who passed away February 3, were held Wednesday at 3:00 at Cedar Creek Baptist Church. Burial was in the Cedar Creek Baptist Church Cemetery directed by Norton Funeral Home. Rev. Jeff Williams and Rev. Homer Hinson will officiate. Sheila was born in Hartsville a daughter of Jack Kenneth Perdue and the late Sylvia Ann Gainey Perdue. She was a member of Cedar Creek Baptist, was a loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Surviving are her husband of 39 years, John Polson, Hartsville, her father, Hartsville; daughter, Brandy P. (Joseph R.) Allie Rollings Catoe
JEFFERSON - Mrs. Allie Rollings Catoe, age 97, went home to be with her Lord on Monday, January 20, 2014.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, January 24, 2014 at Bethel Baptist Church.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation is from 5:00 – 7:00 PM, Thursday, January 23, 2014 at Bethel Baptist Church, 11078 Hwy. 151, Jefferson, SC 29718.
Mrs. Catoe was born March 11, 1916 in Jefferson, SC a daughter of the late Lonnie Edward and Jessie Hopkins Rollings. She was a retired employee of Caro Knit with more than 25 years of service. Mrs. Catoe was a lifelong faithful member of Bethel Baptist Church, where she served as a former Sunday school teacher, choir member, and on other various committees. Allie loved gospel music, and enjoyed sewing and quilting. In addition to her parents, Allie was also preceded in death by her husband, William Adolphus Catoe; and by 9 siblings.
Survivors include 3 Daughters: Jean (Johnny) Hunter of Jefferson, SC, Peggy (Tom) Gainey of Columbia, SC, and Lynda Gibson of Reno, NV; Daughter-in-law: Beck Rollins; 1 Brother: Cole L. Rollings of Jefferson, SC; Also: 8 Grandchildren and 10 Great Grandchildren.

JEFFERSON - Mr. Ivy Eugene “Gene” Strickland, age 77, died Thursday, January 23, 2014 at his home.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM, Sunday, January 26, 2014 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel, Chesterfield, SC. Interment will follow in the Twin Pines Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery, Jefferson, SC.

Mr. Strickland was born October 2, 1936 in Glennville, GA, a son of the late William Jeff and Ophelia Dubberly Strickland. He was a retired meat cutter with Harris Teeter. Gene enjoyed cutting wood, fishing, processing deer, and raising hogs. In addition to his parents, Gene was also preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy “Dot” Williamson Strickland, a son-in-law Jerry Lee Brock, 2 brothers C.L. and Buster Strickland and by 2 sisters Lillie Mae Cade and Arlene Evans

CHESTERFIELD - Mr. Dozier Franklyn Wallace, age 92, died Friday, January 17, 2014.

Visitation was 5:00 - 7:00 PM, Sunday, January 19, 2014 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home.
Mr. Wallace was born July 19, 1921 in Chesterfield, SC a son of the late James Franklyn and Aurilla Katherine Sellers Wallace. He was a retired truck driver whose career spanned over 60 years. Mr. Wallace was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, and a member of the Chesterfield American Legion Post 74. He was a member of Zoar United Methodist Church, the BWZ Men’s Club, and the Chesterfield Masonic Lodge # 220. Dozier was a founding member of the Dixie Saddle Club. He enjoyed riding horses, going to horse shows, and raising bulldogs. Dozier enjoyed life, and was a friend to all. In addition to his parents, Dozier was preceded in death by 3 brothers, J.P., Dick, and Doc Wallace; and 1 sister, Edith Faye Wallace.
Survivors include Wife of 66 years: Foye Sellers Wallace of the home; 1 Son: Dozier Franklyn “Frankie” Wallace, Jr. and Rachel Brooks; 1 Daughter: Sandra Wallace Hall and husband Keith Hall; 3 Grandchildren: Jackie Kyser, Erin (John) Fann, and Wes (Jill) Hall; 3 Great Grandchildren: Cristina (Jake) Deputy, Cathy Jacobs, and Berkeley Fann; 2 Great Great Grandchildren: Dallas and Payton Deputy; 1 Sister: Fannie Lee (Bill) Harper; 3 Sisters-in-law: Katherine R.
