Jeremiah Kelly Medlin
PAGELAND - Master Jeremiah Kelly Medlin, age 3, died Friday, February 27, 2015.
A funeral service was held at 3:00 PM, Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at First Freewill Baptist Church.
Interment followed in the Greenlawn Memorial Park.
Visitation was 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Monday, March 2, 2015 at First Freewill Baptist Church, Pageland, SC.
Master Medlin was born February 5, 2012 in Lancaster, SC the son of Bobby Medlin and Brittany Langley. Jeremiah was full of energy and was “All Boy.” He loved playing with his tractors and trucks, especially his fire truck. His favorite tv show was Curious George, but his favorite pastime was playing outside in any weather! Although brief, Jeremiah’s life impacted everyone he came in contact with. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Mary Jane Laney.
Survivors include Parents: Bobby Medlin & Brittany Langley of the home; 2 Sisters: Elizabeth Ramirez and Angel Langley both of the home; Paternal Grandparents: Junior & Vicky Eller of Jefferson, SC and Bill Benton of Monroe, NC; Maternal Grandparents: George & Barbara Langley of Pageland, SC; Also: numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

YORK - Mrs. Katie Raffaldt Oliver, age 84, died Monday, March 2, 2015.
A funeral service was held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, March 5, 2015 at Cross Roads Baptist Church, Ruby, SC. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Visitation was from 12:00 – 1:00 PM, Thursday, March 5, 2015, prior to the service at Cross Roads Baptist Church.
Mrs. Oliver was born March 18, 1930 in Jefferson, SC a daughter of the late Edward Jack and Maggie McManus Raffaldt. She was a retired employee of Springs Industries and a member of Cross Roads Baptist Church. Mrs. Oliver was a member of W.O.W. Lodge 516. Katie enjoyed listening to music, gardening and cooking. In addition to her parents, Katie was also preceded in death by her husband Reese Oliver; a brother Fred J. Raffaldt; and by 3 sisters, Lillie M. Watts, Nezzie Lucas, and Glennie B. Byrd.
Survivors include 2 Sons: Paul Wright of Pelzer, SC and Tony Edward (Betty) Oliver of Rock Hill, SC; 2 Daughters: Pat O. WALLACE - Geneva “Ruby” Roller, 76, died Saturday, February 28, 2015. Born in McColl, SC she was a daughter of the late Colon L. and Beatrice Hill Cheek. She was a member of Cheraw Church of God. She loved her grandchildren and cared deeply for her pets Boo and Caleb.
Survivors are: her husband, Earl Roller of Wallace, SC, a daughter, Sharon (Carson) R. Collins of Cheraw, SC, daughter-in-law, Nancy Richardson of Wallace, SC, brothers, Leroy “Buddy” Cheek of Wallace, SC, George “Frankie” (Ann) Cheek of McColl, SC, Colon “Joe” Cheek of McColl, SC, a sister, Brenda McLucas of Laurinburg, NC, grandchildren, Devin, Jenifer (W.J.), Katelyn, Bethany, Morgan and a great grandchild, Maya.

CHESTERFIELD - Mrs. Carmelita W. Rollins, age 83, died Thursday, March 5, 2015.
A funeral service was held at 3:00 PM, Sunday, March 8, 2015 at Hopewell Baptist Church. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Visitation was from 2:00 – 3:00 PM, Sunday, March 8, 2015, prior to the service at the Church Fellowship Hall.
Mrs. Rollins was born June 2, 1931 in Hawkins, TX a daughter of the late George and Minnie Cameron Wilbanks. She was a retired employee of Chesterfield Manufacturing and a member of Hopewell Baptist Church, where she served as a preschool Sunday school teacher. Mrs. Rollins enjoyed fishing, working in her flowers, and collecting knick-knacks. Her favorite collections were her angels and salt and pepper shakers. In addition to her parents, Carmelita was preceded in death by her husband, J.B. Rollins, Jr.; sister, Georgia Burtnett; and grandson, Joseph Randel “Joe” Rollins.

Visitation is from 4:00 – 6:00 PM Sunday, March 8, 2015 at the home of Carol Demiere, 280 Ivy Ave., Chesterfield.
Mrs. Russell was born February 3, 1925 in Chicago, IL a daughter of the late James Orville and Angie Welch Massey. She was a retired office manager with C.D. Peacock Jewelers in Chicago. Mrs. Russell enjoyed reading, cooking, and spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, Florence was preceded in death by her husband, Archie Russell; sister, Grace Massey; son-in-law, Frank Demiere; and granddaughter, Patti Perry.
Survivors include 1 Son: James Russell of Ruby, SC; 1 Daughter: Carol Demiere of Chesterfield, SC; 1 Granddaughter: Sharon Demiere of Ruby, SC; Great Grandchildren: Landon Perry and Jake Brown.

CHESTERFIELD - Mrs. Betty Neal Davis Sellers, age 86, died Tuesday, March 3, 2015.
A funeral service was held at 12:00 PM, Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel.
Interment followed in the Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation was from 11:00 –12:00 PM Saturday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Sellers was born March 4, 1928 in Chesterfield, SC a daughter of the late Earl Stancil Davis and Sarah McRae Davis. She was a graduate of Chesterfield High School and a retired employee of Glenn Manufacturing. Betty was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church. She enjoyed growing flowers, sewing, reading books and being with her family. In addition to her parents, Betty was also preceded in death by her husband, Edsel F. Sellers and her two brothers, John Duncan Davis and Earl Stancil Davis Jr.

Edward Laney Davidson
CHERAW - Reverend Edward Laney Davidson, 90, died Thursday, February 26, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Cheraw, SC on September 9, 1924 to the late James Edward and the late Aline Laney Davidson. He was a graduate of Wofford College in 1945 and received his Masters of Divinity Candler School of Theology Emory University 1948.
He was ordained in the South Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church in 1948 and served the following: Wesley-Chapel Hebron, Bethune; Conway Circuit; Main Street UMC, McColl; Latta UMC; Main Street UMC, Dillon; First UMC Marion; St. John UMC, Fort Mill; St. George UMC; Shiloh UMC and Zoar UMC, Chesterfield. He continued to preach as invited by churches throughout the state until his health would no longer allow.
Ed served as an Annual Conference Trustee, was a member of the Boards of Missions, Evangelism, and Health and Welfare Ministries. Ed was a Trustee of the James L. Belin Property, a Trustee of Columbia College (1982-1990), served on the District Committee for Ordained Ministry. Mentor of Candidates. He was also named Pastor Emeritus at Bethel UMC, Bethune, Main Street UMC, Dillon, and Zoar UMC, Chesterfield.
He was an avid sportsman and outdoorsman who enjoyed baseball and football in his younger years as a player and continued to enjoy watching throughout his life. He proudly played football and baseball for the Cheraw Braves and the Wofford Bulldogs. He was a lifelong hunter and fisherman. As a young man, he was known for his prowess as a quail hunter and would walk miles and miles certain the next covey was just around the bend. His marksmanship allowed for little waste of shotgun shells. He has three sets of antlers listed in the SC state record books for whitetail deer.
He enjoyed teaching younger generations to responsibly hunt and fish and encouraged their enjoyment of the outdoors. He mentored his children, grandchildren, nephews and great-grandson in the art of the proper cast and retrieval of a fishing line.
Ed was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 56 years, Ruth Watkins Davidson. He is survived by his four children Ed, Jr. (Bettise) of Columbia, Tom of Cheraw, Susan of Ashburn, VA, and Marie of Columbia. A sister, Margaret Davidson Baker of Bluffton, SC, and seven grandchildren, two great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter due next month, and six grand-dogs who will miss him dearly. He is also survived by his brother-in –law, Dr. Curtis Watkins (Joyce), sister-in-law, Emily Watkins Best both of Camden, and numerous nieces and nephews who held him in highest esteem.
The family received friends on Saturday, February 28th at Kiser Funeral Home, 1020 State Road, Cheraw SC from 5:00 PM-7:00PM. Funeral services will be held at First United Methodist Church in Cheraw, SC on Sunday, March 1st at 3:00 p.m.
The family requests that all United Methodist ministers and their spouses serve as honorary pallbearers as well as members of Lynchwood Lodge 197. The Tony Harris Sunday School class is asked to sit in the reserved area as well.
Memorials may be made to the Red Bird Mission, 70 Queensdale Center, Beverly, Kentucky, 40913-9607; to First United Methodist Church, Cheraw, SC, or to one of the congregations that Ed served during his 60+ year ministry, or to the charity of one’s choice.
The family wishes to thank friends and family for the ongoing support throughout Dad’s illness. A special thank you to those friends who faithfully provided transportation to chemotherapy treatments. Thank you to Dr. Rajesh Bajaj and his staff at McLeod Oncology for their excellent care that allowed us five quality years with Dad following his diagnosis of multiple myeloma. Thank you to Dr. Alex Newsom and his staff at McLeod Cheraw Family Practice for their loving and attentive care. We thank the Agape Hospice team for their loving care during the past months. As very special thank you to hospice aide Marilyn Marshall who cared for Dad with such love and brought much comfort to him in his final days.
Julia Evelyn Hudson
CHERAW - Julia Evelyn Hudson, 96, died Saturday, February 21, 2015. Born in Cheraw, SC she was a daughter of the late Henry and Blanche Webb Hudson. She was a member of Cheraw First Baptist, the Women’s Missionary Union and the Belle Hurt Sunday School Class. She was retired from J.P. Stevens as a Lab Technician.
Surviving is her sister Lillian Stubbs of Bennettsville, SC, also, several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents listed above, a brother, Bernard Hudson and a sister, Ila Adams, also a niece Dana Miller.

Mrs. Hurst was born April 9, 1930 in Chesterfield, SC, the daughter of the late John Gary and Mary Rivers Moore. She was a graduate of Zoar High School and a homemaker. Mrs. Hurst was a member of Chesterfield Baptist Church. Mary Jean enjoyed working in her yard, growing pretty flowers, reading and playing the piano. Her favorite thing was taking care of and being with her family. In addition to her parents, Mary Jean was also preceded in death by her husband, Perry Hurst, and by her 6 brothers, O.B., Brooks, Kimbell, Clarence, Colston, and Ansel Moore.
