CHERAW - Mrs. Linda Brooks Williamson, age 67, died Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at her home.

A funeral service was held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, June 6, 2015 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed in the Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens.

Visitation was from 1:00 – 2:00 PM, Saturday, prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Williamson was born January 22, 1948 in Florence, SC a daughter of the late Walter Leroy Mrs. Williamson was born January 22, 1948 in Florence, SC a daughter of the late Walter Leroy Brooks, Sr. and Delilah Elizabeth Sellers Brooks. She was a retired employee of Dan River Inc. and attended Midway Baptist Church. Linda enjoyed watching movies, and sitting on the porch watching God’s creation. In addition to her parents, Linda was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Jimmie R. Brooks and Walter Leroy Brooks, Jr.; and by a sister, Sara B. Eddins.

Survivors include Husband: Ravelnel Williamson of the home; 1 Stepson: Johnny Williamson of Cheraw, SC; 3 Stepdaughters: Pam Williamson McClure of North Myrtle Beach, SC, Deanna Williamson Skidmore of Cornelius, NC, and Cindy Williamson Ingram of Cheraw, SC; 2 Sisters: Alice J. Parker and Betty B. (Buddy Board) Teal of Chesterfield, SC; Sisters-in-law: Lena R. Brooks of Chesterfield, SC; Also: 7 step grandchildren, 1 step great grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews.

CHERAW – John R. Woods Jr., 57, died Tuesday, June 2, 2015. Born in Wilmington, OH, he was a son of Oleta Woods Cummings of Cheraw, SC and the late John Randolph Woods, Sr.

He is survived by his son, Charles Woods of Cheraw, SC, daughter, Amanda (Timothy) Bennett of Cheraw, SC, a brother, Jeff (Maria) Woods of Mayfield Village, OH, sisters, Sheila Woods of Cleveland, OH and Sheree (John) Zele of Munson, OH. Also two grandchildren, Colt Bennett and Randy Bennett.

The family received friends 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM Saturday, June 6, 2015 at Kiser Funeral Home, Cheraw, SC.

Jackie Ann Scott Anderson

CHERAW - Jackie Ann Scott Anderson, 60, died Tuesday, April 14, 2015. Born in Bennettsville, SC, she was a daughter of Jack and Margaret Purvis Scott. She was an Honor Student and Valedictorian of her Senior Class and graduated with honors in 1973 from Wallace High School, Wallace, SC. She graduated with secretarial skills from Chesterfield-Marlboro TEC, Cheraw, SC. She was employed at INA Bearing, Cheraw, SC as a Shipping Clerk. She loved sewing, crafts and yard work.

Surviving are her parents listed above, husband Jeffery Keith Anderson, sons Keith David Williams of Charlotte, NC, James Kevin “Jimmy” Williams of Cheraw, SC, two nieces whom she raised, Ashley Tarlton Lambert and Tracy Tarlton both of Cheraw, SC, brother Jack J. Scott (Crystal) of Cheraw, sisters Virginia “Gail” Hooks of Cheraw, Betty Hawthorne (Gary) of Winter Haven, FL, Kathy Gatlin of Lakeland, FL and grandchildren Taylor and Alyiah Williams, Conner Williams, Nadia Tarlton, and Wesley Lambert.

She was preceded in death by sisters Barbara Ann Scott and Cynthia Scott.

The family received friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Thursday, April 16, 2015 at Kiser Funeral Home, Cheraw, SC.

A funeral service was held 3:00 PM, Friday, April 17, 2015 at Kiser Funeral Home in Cheraw, SC. Burial was in Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens in Cheraw, SC.

Elizabeth 'Lib' G. Burr

RUBY - Ms. Elizabeth “Lib” G. Burr age 74, died Thursday, May 14, 2015, at her home.

A funeral service was held at 3:00 PM, Sunday, May 17, 2015, at Cross Roads Baptist Church.

Interment followed in the Church Cemetery.

Visitation was from 2:00 – 3:00 PM Sunday, May 17, 2015, prior to the service at Cross Roads Baptist Church Family Life Center.

Ms. Burr was born August 2, 1940, in Concord, NC a daughter of the late Garland Edward “Dock” Gulledge and Helen Mae Poston Gulledge. She was a graduate of Chesterfield High School and a retired employee of Chesterfield Mfg. Co. and a former employee of Sacony. She was a member of Cross Roads Baptist Church. Lib enjoyed cooking, reading, sewing, and crocheting afghans for family and friends. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandson, Banyon and great granddaughter, Zoie and her niece and nephews. In addition to her parents Lib was also preceded in death by a sister, Shelia Knaach.

Survivors include 1 Daughter: Debbie Burr (Freddie) Ford of Chesterfield, SC; Grandson: Banyon Ford; Great Granddaughter: Zoie Ford; 1 Brother: Mendel (Judy) Gulledge of Pageland, SC; 2 Sisters: Sylvia G. (James) Bailey of Ruby, SC and Margie G. Davis of Salisbury, NC; Nieces and Nephews: Amy Quick, Keith Bailey, Wendell Gulledge, Twana Hymer, Crystal Cornelison, Heather Everson, and Kathy Knaach; Also: Several Nieces and Nephews.

Memorials may be made to a Charity of one’s choice.

Sheila 'Frankie' Chapman Harper

CHERAW - Sheila “Frankie” Chapman Harper, 55, died Tuesday, May 12, 2015. Born in Cheraw, SC she was a daughter of the late Frank Chapman and the late Beulah Laney. She was a member of Zoar United Methodist Church. She was an employee B. C. Moore’s for 25 years, until its closing and was a current employee of INA.

Surviving are her sons, Brent (Meree) Harper of Manning, SC, Bryan (Ashley) Harper of Cheraw, SC, a brother, Robert Burr of Asheboro, NC, sisters, Dale Freeman of Columbia, SC, Earlene Greer of Conyers, GA, grandchildren, Dylan Matthews, Katherine Matthews, Dawson Harper, Luke Harper and a special friend, Karen Boan of Cheraw, SC.

She was preceded in death by her parents listed above and a sister, Joyce Shaw.

The family received friends 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Thursday, May 14, 2015 at Kiser Funeral Home, Cheraw, SC.

A funeral service was held 2:00 PM, Friday, May 15, 2015 at Kiser Funeral Home, Cheraw, SC. Burial was in Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Alwin Harrison
Oct 8, 1950 - Dec 26, 2014

Alwin Harrison was born on October 8, 1950 in Washington, DC to the late Reverend Dr. Robert Harrison and Dr. Charlotte Harrison. He entered into eternal rest on Friday, December 26, 2014 in Columbia, South Carolina.

Alwin was educated in the District of Columbia Public School System. He earned an undergraduate degree from Benedict College and pursued a graduated degree from the University of South Carolina.

At an early age, Alwin became a member of New Samaritan Baptist Church, where his father was the pastor. Later in life, he joined Bethlehem Baptist Church where he served as Chairman of the Trustee Board for over twenty years. He remained a faithful and active member until his health declined.
On September 26, 1970 Alwin married his high school sweetheart, Doris Louise Crawford. This union was blessed with two children, Nicole Paulette and Alvina Christina.

Alwin started an early career in real estate with Willie Williams and Associates, after earning his Broker license he eventually opened Harrison Realty and Construction Company servicing the Columbia Metropolitan area. During his leisure time, he was known for being an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a Mason of Lodge 378 and a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.

Alwin was a well-rounded individual with a gregarious personality. If you met him you would never forget him, as he never met a stranger. He will be remembered for his dedication to family and friends.

Alwin leaves his cherished memories to his devoted wife and friend of 47 years, Doris Louise Harrison; daughters, Nicole Harrison of Washington, DC and Alvina Harrison of Columbia, SC; his mother, Dr. Charlotte Harrison; his siblings, Ret. Col. Robert Douglas (Willa) Harrison of Blackstone, VA, Ruth (Clarence) Carter of Washington, DC, Dorothy Jones of Greensboro, NC, twin brother Edwin Harrison of Washington, DC and Alfreda Jessie Harrison of Washington, DC; his grandchildren, Malik Moore of Washington, DC, Zakiya Harrison and Ne'Ari Lewis both of Columbia, SC ; and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, business associates, friends and other loved ones.

Margaret Alice Linton Mathis

CHERAW - Margaret Alice Linton Mathis, 96, died Monday, May 11, 2015. Born in Society Hill, SC, she was a daughter of the late William Edward and Sara Bryant Linton and the widow of Woodrow Wilson Mathis, Sr., (married 58 years). She was a member of Harris Creek Baptist Church and genuinely loved her church and her pastor. She was a self-educated, avid gardener until her health failed. She was an excellent Southern-style cook who thoroughly enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. She thoroughly enjoyed listening to the music of the late George Jones and was a devout fan. She was so kind and caring to animals and loved her all of her grandchildren dearly. She felt very honored to have as her namesake, Margaret Alice ("Ali") Wilson.
Survivors are a son, Woodrow Mathis, Jr. of Cheraw, SC; daughters, Sara (Edward) Starling of Society Hill, SC, Anna Margaret (Harry) Mathis-Tucker, of Cheraw, SC; a sister, Frances Linton Webb, of Columbus, NC; grandchildren, Djuana Tucker Buchanan, Janet (A.J.) Davis, Chrissy (Greg) Starling-Blackburn, Becky (Matthew) Cason, Charrissia Madison, Marian Mathis, Edwina Mathis, Margo Mathis; great-grandchildren, Brandi (Danny) Hansen, Brandon Buchanan, Keon Madison, Westyn Madison, "Ali" Wilson, Josslyn Madison, Jacob Madison, Baden Davis, Grace Cason; great-great grandchild, Madison Anne Tucker
Hansen; special sister-in-law, Margaret Norton Mathis of Cheraw, SC; a very special Nephew, Jennings Spease of Newport News, VA; and a very special Niece, Barbara H. Lide of Charleston, SC.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband listed above; also, siblings, Louise B. Howard, Elizabeth B. Pressley, Jennie L. Kimrey, W.P. ("Sonny") Linton; a 14 year-old granddaughter, Elizabethe ("Beth") Neece; and her beloved 14 year-old great-grandson, Bryant Buchanan.

Elizabeth Brock Hanna Pierce

ROCKINGHAM, N.C. - Mrs. Elizabeth Brock Hanna Pierce, age 79, formerly of the Westfield Creek Baptist Church Community of Cheraw, SC, died Friday, May 15, 2015.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, May 18, 2015 at the Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel, Chesterfield, SC. Interment will follow in the Westfield Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Cheraw, SC.

Visitation will befrom from 4:00 – 6:00 P.M. Sunday, May 17, 2015 at the Funeral Home.

Mrs. Pierce was born June 15, 1935, in Cheraw, SC, a daughter of the late Archie Clyde and Nancy Jane Moore Brock. She was a graduate of Zoar High School, and a retired employee of Wansona Plant in Wadesboro, NC with 28 years of service. Mrs. Pierce was a member of a Westfield Creek Baptist Church. Elizabeth enjoyed working in her flowers, square dancing, and her Monday night Ladies card games. She also enjoyed spending time and cooking for her family and going out to eat. Elizabeth loved her special pets, Jody and LuLu. In addition to her parents, Elizabeth was also preceded in death by her husbands, William Robert “Billy” Hanna and Henry Howard Pierce, her brother, Howard Brock, and by her sister Lola Mae Lee.

Survivors include Son: Bill (Nancy) Hanna of Ansonville, NC; 2 Daughters: Jeanie Hanna (Jesse) Hill of Hamlet, NC and Sherry Pierce (Danny) Bynum of Ellerbe, NC; 1 Grandson: Trey Wilson of Charlotte, NC and a number of Step Grandchildren andStep Great Grandchildren; 2 Brothers: Edward (Dianne) Brock and Calvin (Louise) Brock both of Cheraw, SC; 2 Sisters: Leona B. Morris of Cheraw, SC and Diane B. (Boggan) Allen of Ansonville, NC; Sister-in-law: Evelyn C. Brock of Cheraw, SC; Brother-in-law: Odell Pierce of Alpharetta, GA.

CHESTERFIELD - Mr. Jackie T. Mayhew, age 67, died Wednesday, May 6, 2015.

A funeral service was held at 5:00 PM, Friday, May 8, 2015 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed in the Lower Macedonia Memorial Gardens.

Visitation was from 4:00 – 5:00 PM, Friday, May 8, 2015, prior to the service at the Funeral Home.

Mr. Mayhew was born March 10, 1948 in Altavista, VA, a son of Lula Roland Marshall, and the late R.E. Mayhew. He was a retired employee of Highland Industries with 15 plus years of service, and attended First Southern Methodist Church. Mr. Mayhew was a good-hearted, outgoing gentleman who never met a stranger. He enjoyed playing the guitar, listening to bluegrass music, and fishing. During his fishing trips, he acquired the nickname, “Frog”. Jackie was preceded in death by his father, R.E. Mayhew.

Survivors include Wife: Sandra Teal Mayhew of the home; 4 Daughters: Crystal Mayhew (Jason) McQuage of Southport, NC, Rebecca Mayhew (Johnny) Cassidy, and Melissa Hall both of Cheraw, SC, and Amy Lynn Teal of Pageland, SC; 7 Sons: Reggie (Melissa) Oliver of Ruby, SC, Stan (Cheryl) Crawford, Phillip Watson both of Chesterfield, SC, Jeff (Pam) Gaddy of Murrells Inlet, SC, Daniel Brown of Florence, SC, James Donald Brown of Chesterfield, SC, and David Wayne (Chasey) Brown of Cheraw, SC; 12 Grandchildren; Mother: Lula Roland (William) Marshall of Lynchburg, VA; 1 Sister: Joan Mayhew Easterling of Cheraw, SC; Step Mother: Jane Mayhew of Cheraw, SC; Step Sister: Wendy Mayhew of Charleston, SC; Also: his extended family at Highland Industries whom Jackie loved very much.

(January 9, 1957 - June 13, 2010)

Funeral Mass for Gregory Lamont Reardon will be held 12: 00 p.m. Tuesday, June 22, 2010 in St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church with burial in Fort Jackson National Cemetery. Vistation will be held Monday June 21, 2010 beginning at 6:00 p.m.

Our precious and loving Gregory Lámont Reardon went home to eternal rest on June 12, 2010. He was the son of the late William Readon and Abbie M. Reardon Williams of fountain Inn, SC.

Born and raised in Columbia, SC, Gregory lead a simple life. He drove cab for Blue Ribbons Cab Services for many years. He was also a part time care giver at a disabled care facility, and always there to lend a hand to his family and friends.

A devoted Catholic and member of St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church.

In addition to his mother, Abbie Moorehead Williams; he leaves to cherish his memories two daughters, Kimbray N. McNeal (Michael) of Scott AFB, IL, Inga Goodwin (Theodore) of Hopkins, SC; three sisters, Teddi Sanders (Willie) of Boring Springs, SC, Kim Williams of Columbia, SC and Terri Phoenix (Bernard) of Douglasville, GA; one loving best friend and Uncle, Melody Moorehead, II, of Columbia, SC; four grandchildren, five nephews, two nieces, a host of other loving relatives and friends.

Monica M. Boyles
(January 3, 1960 - June 11, 2010)

Funeral Services for Ms. Monica M. Boyles will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 18, 2010 in the Spirit of Truth Christian Church with burial in Memorial Gardens of Columbia.

Monica M. Boyles was born January 3, 1960 in Columbia, South Carolina. She was the sec-ond daughter of the late Walter and Nancy Boyles. She departed this life on Friday, June 11, 2010.

Monica attended and graduated from the public schools of Queens, New York. As an adult, Monica worked in different fields until she found her niche, working in the administrative field for the Department of Social Security. She continued to work in New York and later decided to relocate to Columbia, South Carolina with her son, Darryl, in 1992. In 1997, Monica was blessed with the birth of her daughter, Khamechie.

She was a caregiver for her parents and now she rest.

Monica leaves to celebrate her life: one son, Dar-ryl Boyles; one daughter, Khamechie English; one sister, Veronica Boyles Gallman; one brother, Walter Tyrone Boyles, Jr.; one niece, Chere M. V. Gallman Byron; great nephews, Jessiah Byron, Wakil Byron and Dessaline Muhammad; a host of other loving relatives and friends, all of whom will miss her dearly.
