Daryl Christopher Williams, affectionately known as "D Scoop"ť, was born on February 24, 1973 in Columbia, South Carolina to Harvey Ann Williams, Isaac Williams and Abraham Ritter. On Sunday, November 23, 2014 Daryl transitioned from this life into the life of eternal rest at Palmetto Health Richland, in Columbia, South Columbia.
Daryl was educated in the Richland County School System and was a graduate of C.A. Johnson High School. He worked as an employee at Huff's Construction Company and attended Kingdom Builders Ministries.
Those who knew Daryl knew that he was very funny, he was loyal and humble. He loved being with his family, listening to music, and watching football supporting his favorite team of all times, the San Francisco 49ers.
Daryl was preceded in death by his grandparents, Dover Williams, Sr., Willse Williams, Charlie Riley, and Ethel Riley; two uncles, Dover Williams, Jr. and John Riley; and step-grandfather, Sylvester Bryant.
Those left to cherish Daryl's precious memories are beloved his daughter, Quadaisha Williams; mother, Harvey Ann Williams; father, Isaac Williams, Sr.; two brothers, Isaac Williams, Jr., Kelvin Williams; one sister, Toya (Dana) Isaac; a special friend, Tomika Shell; and a host of cousins and other loving relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.
Mr. Lee Arthur Ruffin
Memorial Services for Mr. Lee Arthur Ruffin will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 22, 2009 in the Grace Christian Church, 5010 Monticello Road, Columbia.
Lee Arthur Ruffin was born November 18, 1953 in Faison, North Carolina. He was the son of the later George and Lela Ruffin. On November 13, 2009, Lee departed this life.
As a young child, Lee along with his family migrated to Brooklyn, New York. He received his elementary and formative education from Boys High School, Brooklyn, New York. As a young man, he became an employee of Burnes Security Agency. In the early 1970's, Lee met the love of his life, Ella Mae Jones and their union was blessed with five children and nine grandchildren. Lee loved music and played the saxophone in a band.
Surviving is his wife, Ella Jones; daughters, Keesha, Taisha and Shaquana Ruffin; son, Lee Ruffin; brothers, Harry, James, Gumensindo, Bennie and Maurice; sisters, Lousie, Loistine, Rena, Michelle, Kathleen, Sandra, Surma and Marisol; nine grandchildren .
Mr. Nicholas Santell Sutton
(September 2, 1980 - October 24, 2009)
Memorial services for Mr. Nicholas Santell Sutton will be held 4:00 p.m. Sunday, November 1, 2009 in Rhema Christian Center, 2601 Seminole Road, Columbia.
Nicholas Santell Sutton better known as "Nick" to his family and friends was born on September 2, 1980 in Lexington County, South Carolina to Christine Sutton Presley and Anthony Brooker. He departed this life on Saturday October 24, 2009 at home surrounded by loved ones.
Nick leaves behind to cherish his memories his loving mother, Christine (Shedrick Jenkins) Sutton Presley; brother Reginald (Linda) Jermaine Sutton; sister, Christie (Jesse) Keisha Jefferson; three nephews, Jesse III, Donovan and Malik Jefferson; longtime girlfriend, Juanna Brown; aunts, Janie (Mutt) West, Annie (Perry) Smith and Vivian Sutton; uncles, James Sutton, Johnnie (Florine) Sutton and Jasper Sutton, Jr.; and a host of other family and friends all of whom will miss him dearly.
Mr. Ronald Infinger
Memorial services for Mr. Ronald Gene Infinger will be held 4:00 p.m. Monday, October 12, 2009 in Wesley Grove United Methodist Church, 515 Wesley Grove Road, Cordova, South Carolina.
Ronald Gene Infinger was born on May 27, 1935 in Dorchester County to the late Ellison Guy and Claire Nettles Infinger. Mr. Infinger was a loving husband, father and grandfather who loved his church. Mr. Infinger was predeceased by a son, Michael Infinger and two brothers, Norman Lester Infinger and Robert Infinger.
Surviving is his loving wife, Pat Ann Infinger; sons, Tony (Janie) Infinger, Christopher (Karen) Davis, Gerald Infinger and Scott Davis; daughters, Roberta (Terry) Ott, Lisa (Mark) Douthett and Beth (Chris) Inabinet; sister, Lois Winningham; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
Ms. Leona Yeast
Funeral services Ms. Leona Yeast will be conducted 11:00 am Thursday, September 10, 2009 in Centennial Baptist Church by Elder J.D. Short, III. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 9:00 am until the hour of service at the church. Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
Leona Yeast, age 81, North Magnolia Street, Harrodsburg died Sunday, August 30, 2009 at the Palmetto Health Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia SC. Born September 4, 1927 in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of the late James Nelson and Ethel Mae Sandidge Yeast. She graduated from West Side High School, was a former seamstress at Cricketeer Manufacturing Co. and was a member of 1st Baptist Church in Harrodsburg where she sang in the choir.
Survivors include: one son, Jack L. Johnson, Harrodsburg; three daughters, Andrea (Nathan) White, Columbia, SC, Jada (Ryan) Draper, Lexington and Mina Renee Yeast; one brother Benny Yeast and one sister Edna Baker, both of Harrodsburg, six grandchildren, one great grandchild, several nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by a son Kevin Johnson, a daughter Laverne Johnson and a brother Francis Leroy Yeast.
Mr. Larry Anthony Douglas
Funeral Services for Mr. Larry Anthony Douglas will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 5, 2009 in Zion Mill Creek Baptist Church with interment in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
Larry Anthony Douglas was born October 5, 1960. He was one of eleven children born to the late Robert Lee Felder and Alberta Smith Douglas. On Monday, August 31, 2009, Larry entered into eternal rest.
Larry was educated in the public schools of Richland County South Carolina, graduating in 1978 from C.A. Johnson High School. He was employed by the University of South Carolina (Education Department), the Sheraton Hotel, Blue Marlin, The Summit Club and Spring Valley Country Club.
Larry leaves fond memories to be cherished by his daughters, Tawanna Dasha Kennedy, Lisa Jenniel Felder and Tiara Monique Knotts all of Columbia, South Carolina; sons, Larry Anthony Douglas, Jr. and Paris La'Delle Knotts both of Columbia, South Carolina and Ryan Joshua Douglas of Florence, South Carolina; sisters, Linda J. Smith, Elaine Smith, Gloria Douglas Smith, Judy A. Douglas, Renee M. Douglas all of Columbia and Tammy D. Douglas of Stafford, Virginia; brother, James T. M. Douglas; grandchildren, Zayan Rivers, Zelia Rivers, Tyrek Kennedy and Makayla Douglas; nieces and nephews; and a host of loving relatives and dear friends who will miss him dearly. Larry was preceded in death by a sister, Angelo Smith and two brothers, Charles Andre Douglas and Allen Kirk Douglas.
Mr. Willie Edward Brown
Memorial services for Mr. Willie Edward Brown will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, August 22, 2009 in McCollom-Myers Mortuary, 5003 Rhett Avenue.
Willie Edward Brown was born July, 22, 1928 in Florence County. He was the son of the late Walter and Lillian Hannah Brown. On Monday, August 9, 2009, after a Long illness, Willie departed this earthly life to be with the Lord.
Willie was a wonderful person as well as a loving brother.
Though physically Willie will no longer be with us, his loving and kind spirit will forever live in the hearts and lives of those who loved and knew him.
Rodney Fritzgerald Salley
Mr. Rodney Fritzgerald Salley, will be held July 22, 2009 in Veighle Chapel Baptist Church, 2400 Leesburg Road, Columbia.
Rodney Fritzgerald Salley was born January 17, 1969 in Swansea, South Carolina. On Monday, July 13, 2009 at Montain View Hospital, Las Vegas, Nevade, Rodney entered into eternal life.
Rodney was educated in the public schools of Richland County, South Carolina. He was an active member of the JROTC and the marching band at Lower Richland High School, where he was a graduate of the class of 1987. After graduation, Rodney enlisted in the United States Army where he served four years before being honorably discharged in 1994.
At an early age Rodney accepted Christ, joined and was baptized at Veighle Chapel Baptist Church.
In September of 1990, while stationed at Schoefield Barrack, Rodney met the former Veronica Todd of Honolulu, Hawaii ad soon realized that he met his soul mate. He asked Veronica for her hand in marriage and on May 15, 1992, the two were joined as one. Their union was blessed with a daughter, Rhayn Faytrice, who was named after his mother-in-law, Faye and his mother, Beatrice. Rodney has also given us another "angel," Rylan Rodni, whose expected birth date is December 5, 2009.
Rodney had many friends and was loved by all who knew him. His family meant the world to him. He was a devoted Carolina Panthers fan and an avid motorcycle rider. Rodney was a loyal husband, great dad and a wonderful friend.
Precious memories of Rodney are left to be cherished by his wife, Roni Salley; daughter, Rhyan; mother Bea (George) Montague; father, Lorenzo Salley; sister, Gwendolyn Salley, San Antonio, Texas; grandmother, Mavis Montague; niece, Alexandria White; nephews, Drayton Knight and Riley Williams; step-brothers, Carlise Salley, Jr., Chad Salley and Danny Purdy; step-sister, Chandra Salley, special friend, Ramon Frett; and a host of cousins, friends and loved ones who will Miss Rodney dearly.

POLKTON – Mrs. Mae Thomas Wright, 88, died Monday, May 4, 2015 at Meadowview Terrace Assisted Living in Wadesboro.
William Curtis Dixon Jr.
COLUMBIA - Dr. William Curtis Dixon, Jr. 45, of Columbia, South Carolina formerly of Chesterfield, SC, funeral services were held on Thursday, April 30, 2015 at 1PM from the Pee Dee Union Baptist Church, Cheraw, SC. Burial followed in the St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Cheraw, SC. Flemming Funerals-Chesterfield was in charge. He was born on December 5, 1969, in Cheraw, South Carolina to the late William Dixon, Sr. and Valencia (Jessie) Jefferson Howard. William attended the public schools of Chesterfield County and graduated from Chesterfield High School in 1988 with honors. He earned his Bachelor Degree from South Carolina State University in Orangeburg, SC; Master’s Degree from the United States Sports Academy in Daphne, AL; Education Specialist Degree from Cambridge College, Boston, MA; and Doctoral Degree from Walden University, Minneapolis, MN. Dr. Dixon was the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction, at Cleveland County Schools, a progressive district of 29 institutions and 16, 000 students. Recently, he served in a similar capacity in Colleton County School District for over five years. During his professional career, he served as a teacher, assistant principal, and principal in both the elementary and high school settings. As head coach of the varsity boys’ basketball team, he lead his team to the 1996 State championship game and also earned Coach of the Year honors twice. Dixon was also Executive Officer and Founder of the Charleston CAGERS in 2006, later to be named Carolina CAGERS. At the time of his passing, along with being an Assistant Superintendent, Dr. Dixon was an adjunct professor in the School of Education doctoral program at Gardner Webb-University and an adjunct instructor at Cleveland Community College. He was an active member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity and held memberships with the American Association of School Administrators (AASA)Superintendent’s Division, Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development (ACSD), the International Reading Association (IRA), and National Dropout Prevention Network (NDPN), to name a few. He served on the Cleveland Vocational Industries Board, and the Dover YMCA Board and was a former United States Army Reservist. Survivors: wife, Dr. La' Toya Thomas-Dixon; two sons, Mitchell and Xavier Dixon; parents, Valencia (Jessie) Howard; a brother, Craig Dixon, and a sister, Natasha Burns. Flemming Funerals-Chesterfield was in charge. .

CONCORD, N.C.- Alberta Rorie Funderburk, 66, died on Saturday, April 18, 2015. Funeral services were held on Sunday, April 26, 2015 at 3PM from the Mt. Vernon Missoinary Baptist Church, Charlotte, NC. Burial followed in the Beatties Ford Memorial Garden, Charlotte, NC. She was born on March 13, 1949 in Chesterfield, SC to the late Wilson and Gertrude Harrell Rorie. Survivors: a daughter, Talesha Medlin (Howard) Concord, NC; three grandsons, Luther, Sheldon, Jr. and D’Cario; a granddaughter, Tionna; a great grandson, Landon; four sisters, Iris DeBerry, Winston-Salem, NC; Beulah Dease, Cheraw, SC; Elois Johnson (Clayton), Lexington, KY and Charlene Leak, Wadesboro, NC; seven brothers, Haywood Rorie (Loretta), Boiling Brook, IL, Walter Rorie (Lula), Charlotte, NC, Woodrow Rorie, Nathaniel Rorie (Carolyn), Daniel Rorie (Agnes) and Levander Rorie (Ernestine) all of Cheraw, SC.Flemming Funerals-Cheraw was in charge. .
Jeffrey Earl Gillespie
CHERAW - Jeffrey Earl Gillespie, 49, died on Monday, April 20, 2015. Funeral services were held on Saturday April 25, 2015 at 1pm from the Salem Missionary Baptist Church, Chesterfield, SC. Burial followed in the Chesterfield Community Cemetery, Chesterfield, SC. He was born on May 24, 1965 in Chesterfield, SC to Dora Lee Gillespie and the late Cleveland Gillespie. Survivors: companion, Kim Smith, Cheraw, SC; two daughters, Sherika Smith, Cheraw, SC and Mia Gillespie, Cheraw, SC; his mother, Dora Gillespie, Cheraw, SC; a brother, Anthony Gillespie, Cheraw, SC; a niece, Angelia Hill, Cheraw, SC and an aunt, Ruth Bittle, Chesterfield, SC; .
Estelle 'Nana' Douglas Melton
RUBY - Mrs. Estelle “Nana” Douglas Melton, age 90, died Thursday, April 30, 2015.
A funeral service was held at 3:00 PM, Saturday, May 2, 2015 at White Oak Presbyterian Church. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Visitation was from 2:00 – 3:00 PM, Saturday, May 2, 2015, prior to the service in the Church Fellowship Hall.
Mrs. Melton was born May 14, 1924 in Ruby, SC a daughter of the late Daniel and Sue Oliver Douglas. She was a faithful member of White Oak Presbyterian Church where she served as teacher, treasurer, and Elder. She was also a member of the Presbyterian Women. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family and friends. Her love for the Lord showed through in the love she shared with others through her kind words and delicious home cooking. Estelle taught at Vaughn School after graduating from Montreat College. She left her teaching career to take care of her home and raise her three boys. She later worked and retired from the Department of Social Services in Chesterfield. In addition to her parents, Estelle was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Jim; a son, Michael; brothers, Robert, Gillespie, and Duncan Douglas; and sister, Leila Mae Jordan.
Survivors include 2 Sons: James “Bobby” Melton and Tommy (Doris) Melton both of Ruby, SC; 2 Granddaughters: Tammy (Michael) Nicholson and Jami Melton; and 5 Great Grandchildren: Caitlyn, Aleah, Daniel, Floyd, and Jackson.

JEFFERSON - Mrs. Ruth Lear Melton, age 77, died Sunday, April 26, 2015.
A funeral service was held at 3:00 PM, Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at Bethel Baptist Church. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Visitation was from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at Bethel Baptist Church.
Mrs. Melton was born October 7, 1937 in Ruby, SC, a daughter of the late Willie Lee and Martha Ruth Lear. Ruth was raised by her grandparents, Henry “Bud” and Mary “Trud” Lear. She was a retired employee of Caro Knit, and a faithful member of Bethel Baptist Church. Ruth truly loved her church and church family. She enjoyed gardening, growing pretty flowers, cooking, and spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, Ruth was also preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Bobby Carroll “Collie” Melton; a brother, Roy Lear; two sisters, Cleo Crowley (Rev. Archie) Heustess, and Juanita (Calvin) Hinson; brothers-in-law, Johnny Reece Melton, Maxie (Jessie Mae) Melton, Floyd (Jamie) Melton and George Belk; and sisters-in-law, Rosie (Conley) Eubanks, Azilee (Edward) Taylor, Lucille Rollins, and Ruth (Roscoe) Boone.
Survivors include 1 Daughter: Dr. Rita A. Melton of Lexington, SC; Nieces and Nephews including special niece, Betty Lear Grady of Ruby, SC; 2 Sisters-in-law: Peggy Melton of Jefferson, SC, and Gertrude Belk of Kannapolis, NC; 1 Brother-in-law: Hubert Rollins of Myrtle Beach, SC.
