Beatrice Campbell Odom Burch

CHESTERFIELD - Mrs. Beatrice Campbell Odom Burch, age 89, died Thursday, April 16, 2015.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, April 19, 2015 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Shiloh United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2:00 – 3:00 PM Sunday, April 19, 2015 prior to the service at the Funeral Home.

Mrs. Burch was born May 8, 1925 in Chesterfield, SC a daughter of the late Nick Paulie and Leo Davidson Campbell. She was a graduate of Chesterfield High School. Mrs. Burch was a retired Chesterfield County Clerk of Court, and served in the office of Clerk of Court for 37 years. She was a member of Inspiration Baptist Church and a former member of Shiloh United Methodist Church. Beatrice enjoyed shopping, birds, pretty flowers, and spending time with her family. She also loved her puppy “Misty”. In addition to her parents, Beatrice was also preceded in death by her husbands, John Robert Odom and William A. Burch; 3 sisters, Mavis C. Thompson, Pat C. Teal, and Anita C. Quick; and by her son-in-law, Bobby Belue.

Survivors include 2 Daughters: Jan Odom (Chuck) Burch of Mt. Croghan, SC and Ann Burch Belue of Rock Hill, SC; 1 Son: Steven Ned Burch of Rock Hill, SC; Grandchildren: Jessica Burch (Steve Sellers) Sims and Jennifer Burch both of Mt. Croghan, SC, Janna Burch (Adam) Jordan of Ruby, SC, Duane (Holly) Belue, Kevin Belue, and Josh Burch all of Rock Hill, SC; Great Grandchildren: Jayden and Kayleigh Sims and soon to be Luke Jordan, April Belue (Jason) Balchune, Savannah, Dillon, and Mason Belue; 1 Great Great Grandchild: Rory Belue

5 Brothers: J.B. (Evelyn) Campbell of Ruby, SC, Melvin Campbell of Elgin, SC, Glenn (Brenda) Campbell of Hartsville, SC, Paulie (Frances) Campbell, Jr., and Eugene (Terry) Campbell both of Chesterfield, SC; 3 Sisters: Janice C. Wilma Catherine 'Katie' Chavis Gandy

CHESTERFIELD - Mrs. Wilma Catherine “Katie” Chavis Gandy, age 86, died Monday, April 13, 2015.

A funeral service was held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, April 18, 2015 at Zoar United Methodist Church. Interment followed in the Church Cemetery.

Visitation was Saturday, April 18, 2015, immediately following the service in the Church Fellowship Hall, Viewing of the remains was Friday April 17, 2015, 9:00A.M. – 5:00 P.M. at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home.

Mrs. Gandy was born March 19, 1929, in Bennettsville, SC, a daughter of the late Walter Bruce Chavis and Elizabeth Grant Chavis. She was a graduate of Bennettsville High School, and a retired administrative assistant with Cooper Industries. Katie was also a former bank teller with Carolina Bank. Mrs. Gandy was a faithful member of Zoar United Methodist Church, where she was a choir member, UMW member, and a Sunday school member. Katie enjoyed growing pretty flowers, gardening, cake decorating, and church activities. In addition to her parents, Katie was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Hill Gandy, her brothers, J.W. Chavis and Tommy Chavis, and by a sister, Mildred Chavis Quick.

Survivors include Son: Robert Michael “Mike” (Laura) Gandy of Chapin, SC; Daughter: Angela Gandy (Billy) Harpe of Florence, SC; 2 Grandchildren: Kathleen Hope “Katie” Gandy of Chapin, SC and John “Taylor” Harpe of Florence, SC; Sister: Louise C. Hunt of Cheraw, SC.

CHESTERFIELD - Sandra Harrison, 50, died on Tuesday, March 31, 2015. Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 4, 2015 at 1PM from the Fisher Hill Community Baptist Church Cheraw, SC. Burial followed in the Timmonsville Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery Ruby, SC. She was born in Chesterfield County, SC. Sandra attended the Chesterfield County public school system. She was currently employed at Highland Industries, Inc. Survivors: husband, Clinton M. Harrison, Chesterfield, SC; two sons, Quentin Dixon (Dorietha), Chesterfield, SC and Antwoine Giles (Deandra), Tucson, AZ; mother, Mable Dixon, Chesterfield, SC; a sister, Mary Jean Bowen (Jack), Cheraw, SC; two brothers, James Dixon (Margaret), Bennettsville, SC and Percival Dixon, Jr., Florence, SC; three grandchildren. Kyle Emerson Helms

RUBY - Mr. Kyle Emerson Helms, age 72, died Thursday, April 16, 2015.

A funeral service was held at 5:00 PM, Saturday, April 18, 2015 at First Free Will Baptist Church, Pageland, SC. Interment followed in the Mt. Croghan Memorial Park, Mt. Croghan, SC.

Visitation was from 4:00 – 5:00 PM, prior to the service at the church.

Mr. Helms was born July 5, 1942 in Monroe, NC a son of the late Ira Emerson Helms and Ora Lee Hargette Helms. He was a retired supervisor with Dawson Consumer. Kyle was a faithful member of First Free Will Baptist Church where he served as Sunday school teacher and Musician. He loved fishing, hunting, and playing music. Kyle also enjoyed working on boat motors and gun repairs. In addition to his parents, Kyle was also preceded in death by a son Daren Helms, and a brother, Wilane Helms.

Survivors include Wife: Rachel Hudson Helms of the home; 1 Son: Eric (Lisa) Helms of Monroe, NC; 1 Daughter: Ramona Lee (Rodney) Gordon of Monroe, NC; 1 Stepson: Johnie F. Jordan Jr. of Jefferson, SC; 1 Stepdaughter: Robin Autry of Kershaw, SC; 11 Grandchildren: Aaron (Amanda) Gordon, Christian, Caleb, and Kelsy Gordon, Amanda (Carter) Austin, John, Logan, and Jordan Helms, Jeremy and Daphanie Johnson, and Amanda (Steven) Robinson; Special Great Granddaughter: Faith Autry; 1 Brother: Darrell Helms of Pageland, SC

Calvin Lee Melton

CHERAW - Calvin Lee Melton, 66, died Tuesday, April 14, 2015. Born in Cheraw, SC he was the son of the late Calvin D. and Mary Melton. He was the widower of Annie Elizabeth Melton. He was a member of the Truckers Association and a past member of the FFA. He earned an Associate’s degree in ARC Welding and Residential Electrical. His hobbies included wood working.

Surviving are his daughter, Anita Foster of Cheraw, sisters Linda Smith and Faye Wallace both of Cheraw, five grandchildren and one soon to be great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife and parents listed above, and a daughter, Patricia Hewitt.

The family received friends from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, Friday, April 17, 2015 at Kiser Funeral Home, Cheraw, SC.

A funeral service was held 1:00 PM Friday, April 17, 2015 at Kiser Funeral Home, Cheraw, SC. Burial was at Oak Grove Methodist Church, Wallace, SC.

John David Lambert

RUBY - Mr. John David Lambert, age 70, died Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at his home.

A service of celebration was held at 4:00 PM, Sunday, April 12, 2015, at Thompson Creek Baptist Church.

Visitation was from 5:00 – 7:00 PM, Saturday, April 11, 2015 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home.

Mr. Lambert was born June 15, 1944 in Jefferson, NC, a son of the late “Granny” Alice Martha Lambert. He was a graduate of Lansing High School, and a former shop foreman, mechanic, and truck driver with ARD Trucking. David was also owner and operator of KBT Trucking. He was a member of Thompson Creek Baptist Church where he had served as Deacon and member of the Building and Grounds Committee. David enjoyed cars, fishing, watching western movies, and greatly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include Wife of 50 years: Judy Elliott Lambert of the home; 2 Daughters: Rebecca L. (Danny) Tolson and Sara L. (Jay) Brown of Ruby, SC; 5 Grandchildren: Kellen and Connor Tolson, Sarah Elizabeth, Alice-Ann, and David Brown; Mother-in-law: Carrie Lea Elliott of N. Wilkesboro, NC; 2 Brothers: Bill (Emma) Lambert of Ruby, SC and Ralph (Shirley) Lambert of Chesterfield, SC; Also several Nieces and Nephews.

Patsy Dixon Lewis

CHERAW - Patsy Dixon Lewis, age 47, died Friday, April 3, 2015.

A funeral service was held at 4:00 PM, Monday, April 6, 2015 at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church. Interment followed in the First Southern Methodist Church Cemetery.

Visitation was from 3:00 – 4:00 PM, Monday, April 6, 2015 prior to the service at the Church.

Ms. Lewis was born January 12, 1968 in Cheraw, SC a daughter of Patricia Graham Dixon and the late Cecil Dixon. She was a graduate of Cheraw High School, and was an employee of Stanley Tools. Patsy was also a former manager of the Windsor Mart and a former textile employee. She was also the keeper of God’s house at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church. Patsy loved the outdoors, being at home, and helping others. She was also a true people person, an avid NASCAR fan, and loved playing with her fur baby, “Sammy.”

Survivors include Special Companion: Mike Bruner of the home; 2 Sons: Christopher (Deanna) Dixon of Chesterfield, SC and Rhen Bruner of Florence, SC; Mother: Patricia G. Dixon of Cheraw, SC; 2 Sisters: Jennie (Charles) Polson of Phoenix, AZ, and Sandy Dixon of Cheraw, SC; Also Nieces and Nephews.

Helen Elizabeth Steen Tilley

CHERAW - Helen Elizabeth Steen Tilley 71, died, Wednesday, April 08, 2015. Born in Bennettsville, SC she was a daughter of the late John Neil and Elizabeth Chavis Steen. She was a member of Welsh Neck Baptist Church, Society Hill, SC. She was a long time floral designer. She was the former owner of the Butterfly Shop in Cheraw. Helen enjoyed dancing.

Surviving is her husband, James Tilley of Cheraw, SC, a daughter, Viki Tilley of Cheraw, SC, a brother, Gary Steen of Bennettsville, SC sisters, Doris (Jerry) Kennedy of Fayetteville, NC, Kathy Outlaw of Wallace, SC, Mary Ann (Steve) Moody of Bennettsville, SC, Nell (Sonny) Byrd of McColl, SC and a granddaughter, Ashley Rivers of Cheraw, SC.

She was preceded in death by her parents listed above, brothers Rev. Bryant Steen, Bobby Steen, Hampton Steen, Wesley Steen, Charles Steen, Bruce Steen, James Steen, and a sister Peggy Watson.

The family received friends 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Thursday, April 9, 2015 at Kiser Funeral Home, Cheraw, SC.

A funeral service was held 4:00 PM, Friday, April 10, 2015 at Wallace Baptist Church, Wallace, SC. Burial was in the Chavis Cemetery, Wallace, SC.

CHERAW - Brandon Ellerbe, 28, died on Sunday, March 22, 2015. Funeral services were held on Friday, March 27, 2015 at 3PM from the Pee Dee Union Baptist Church Cheraw, SC. Burial followed in the Smithville A.M.E. Zion Church Cemetery, Cheraw, SC. He was born in Cheraw, SC. Brandon was a graduate of Cheraw High School and was employed with INA Bearing of Cheraw, SC. Survivors: parents, Willie and Maggie Sellers; nine sisters, Teressa Leak (Johnny), Cheraw, SC, Tracy Norwood (Rico), Monroe, NC, Theresa Michelle Cook (Michael), Tonya Ellerbe, Theda Henry, all of Cheraw, SC, LaVounda Floyd, Tashia Rubin (Chad) both of Florence, SC, Tammy Ellerbe and Tiffany Ellerbe both of Cheraw, SC; seven brothers, John Ellerbe III, Queens, NY, Daniel Ellerbe, Apollo Alex Ellerbe, Chris Ellerbe (Tosha), Etric Kenyatta Ellerbe, Travis Ellerbe and Paul Ellerbe all of Cheraw, SC. .

Emma Rae Hammond Eskridge

CHERAW - Mrs. Emma Rae Hammond Eskridge, age 91, died Thursday, March 26, 2015.

A graveside service was held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, March 29, 2015, at Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens.

Visitation was immediately following the service at the Faith Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall.

Mrs. Eskridge was born February 29, 1924, in Chesterfield, SC, a daughter of the late A. Bub and Lessie White Hammond. She was a graduate of Chesterfield High School and a retired legal secretary with the Law Office of Harris, Griggs, and Spruill. Mrs. Eskridge was a faithful charter member of Faith Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed needlework, gardening, and coffee with her friends. Emma Rae especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Emma Rae was also preceded in death by her brothers, Wilbur, Fay, and Jack Hammond, and by her sister Louise Hammond Gulledge.

Survivors include Husband of 70 years: Ernest R. Eskridge of the home; Son: Randy (Nancy) Eskridge of Mauldin, SC; Daughter: Nancy Eskridge Scoggins of Columbia, SC; 2 Grandsons: Matthew (Andrea) Eskridge of Baltimore, Md. and Dixon(Lauren) Scoggins of Simpsonville, SC; 2 Great Grandchildren: Jack Elliott Eskridge and Ellery Scoggins; Also Nieces and Nephews.

Ernest Hill Kimrey

CHERAW - Ernest Hill Kimrey, 79, died Tuesday, March 24, 2015. Born in Cheraw, SC he was a son of the late Brack M. and Ruth Allen Kimrey. He was a member of Cheraw First Baptist, the American Legion, and the Moose Lodge. He was a Veteran of the United States Air Force. He was retired from the Becker Sand and Gravel Company (Hanson). He enjoyed golf, fishing, bowling and spending time with family.

Survivors are: a brother, Roger W. Kimrey of Chattahoochee, FL, a sister, Barbara Graham of Cheraw, SC and many nieces and nephews, great and great great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents listed above, brothers, Brack M. Kimrey, Jr., Douglas H. Kimrey and a sister, Vera K. Davis.

The family received friends 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM, Friday, March 27, 2015 at Kiser Funeral Home, Cheraw, SC.

A funeral service was held at 2:00 PM, Friday, March 27, 2015 at Kiser Funeral Home. Burial with military honors was at Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens, Cheraw, SC.

Marion W. Mason

CHERAW - Marion W. Mason, 101 years old, went to Her Lord and Savior, peacefully on Monday, March 30, 2015. Born August 18, 1913 in Cleveland Ohio, she was the daughter of the late James and Ethel Reilly. After spending most of her adult life in Northeastern Ohio she moved to Cheraw, South Carolina with her husband, Rex in 1980. Marion and Rex were married on December 9th, 1935 and had been happily married for 48 years before Rex's passing in 1983. Marion was a member of Saint Peter’s Catholic Church for the last 35 years.

Surviving are her son, Jack H. Mason and his wife Kathleen of Jupiter, Florida, and her daughter, Jeannette M. Linquist of Willis, Texas. In addition, Marion has five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She has a sister, Kathleen Hess of Tallmadge, Ohio. She was also an aunt, a cousin and a friend to many.

Marion was predeceased by her son-in-law William H. Linquist, grandson Dennis Wagner and her two brothers, James and Frank Reilly.

Visitation for the remembrance of Marion was held on Saturday, April 4th at 1:00 PM at Saint Peter's Catholic Church in Cheraw, with a Catholic Funeral Service immediately following at 2:00 PM. Interment was at Chatham Hills Memorial Gardens.
