DUNHAM, N.C. - A funeral service to celebrate the life of Rosemary Rhoad Mothershed, 75, of Dunham, NC, formerly of Camden, SC, will be held Friday, April 8, 2016 at 3:00 PM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Father John M. Zimmerman will officiate with burial to follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Thursday, April 7, 2016 following the Rosary at 6:00 until 7:30 PM at Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel.
Mrs. Mothershed, widow of Wyatt Allen Mothershed, died Tuesday, April 5, 2016. She was born in Charleston, SC, and was the daughter of the late Henry Poppenheim Rhoad and Mary Dawson Rhoad.
Surviving are her son, Randy Mothershed (Laurie); 3 grandsons, Nickolas, Jacob and Nathan Mothershed; sisters, Sally Horton of McBee, SC, Gerrie Hoffman of Middendorf, SC and Joan Rivers of Gaston, SC; brothers, Jack Rhoad of McBee, SC and Robert (Bobby) Rhoad of Raleigh, NC.
Besides her husband, she was predeceased by a son, Russell Wyatt Mothershed and a brother, Hank Rhoad.
Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel, is in charge of the arrangements.
Lanny Reese Rayfield
CHERAW - Lanny Reese Rayfield, Sr., 78, died Thursday, April 7, 2016. Born in Gastonia, NC, he was the son of the late James Andrew and Leona Fite Rayfield. A graduate of North Carolina State University, he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity and the Pershing Rifles drill team. He enlisted in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged as a First Lieutenant.
After several moves around North Carolina, he made Cheraw, SC his home in 1972. As a member of First United Methodist Church of Cheraw, SC, he served on the Finance Committee and served as a Trustee. He was president of and taught the Fred and Lorraine Harris Sunday School class. He served as a Volunteer Deputy with the Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Department. He enjoyed playing golf and watching sports, especially Wolfpack football and basketball.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda C. Rayfield of Cheraw, SC; sons, Lanny Reese (Jennifer Y.) Rayfield, Jr. of Cheraw, SC and James Patrick (Jennifer E.) Rayfield of Columbia, SC; and four grandchildren: Erin Leigh Rayfield, Lanny Reese Rayfield, III, Anna Elizabeth Rayfield and Julia Porth Rayfield.
The family will receive friends 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, Sunday, April 10, 2016 at Kiser Funeral Home, Cheraw, SC.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Monday, April 11, 2016 at First United Methodist Church, Cheraw, SC, followed by a burial with military honors in Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens.

Myra Elaine Simpson Boegemann
CHERAW – Myra Elaine Simpson Boegemann, 73, of Cheraw, SC, died Wednesday, March 23, 2016. Born in Greenwood, SC, she was the daughter of the late Curtis Ware Simpson and Sula Battle Simpson. She was a graduate of Laurel Hill High School and Campbell College and worked as an administrative secretary and homemaker. Myra received Christ into her life at an early age, being baptized in the Baptist Church. Her greatest joy was being a loving mother and grandmother. She had a beautiful artistic talent for drawing and sketching. She enjoyed trips to the beach and dancing. In recent years she enjoyed the quiet solitude of reading.
Surviving are her daughters, Kaye Marsh of Cheraw, SC, Rena Deal of Candler, NC, grandchildren Jacob Deal, Hannah Marsh, Rachel Marsh, Rebecca Marsh, a brother John Simpson and a niece and nephew.
A graveside service was held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, March 26, 2016 at Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens, Cheraw, SC. The family received friends after the service.

Charlotte Freels Duvall
Miami, Fla. – Charlotte Freels Duvall, age 95, died Saturday, April 2, 2016. Born in Morristown, TN, a daughter of the late James Cleveland Freels and his wife Aileen Fisher. Her family wintered in Miami where she attended Shenandoah Elementary and Junior High, and graduated from Miami High in 1938. She earned degrees at Mount Vernon Junior College, Washington DC and the University of Miami, class of 1942. She met her husband John Emack Duvall of Cheraw, SC, at a dance at the Coral Gables Country Club; they were happily married 69 years! She is predeceased by her husband and parents listed above and a brother, James Cleveland Freels, Jr. She is survived by three children Mary Aileen Smith (Harold), Charlotte Denise West (Macdonald) and Mareen Walker Duvall (Millicent); three grandchildren Jonathan Walker Duvall (Karen), Taylor Mareen Bennett (Ryan) and Gideon Williams Duvall; 3 great grandchildren, Micah Walker Duvall, Gabriel John Duvall, Charlotte Rose Bennett and two sisters, Mary Nelson White and Julia Chwalik. She was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority, the Beaux Arts, and the Coral Reef Yacht Club. She loved doing genealogy research and was a member of many hereditary societies including DAR, NSCDA, NSDAC, FFV, DFPA, Order of the Crown, Colonial Governors, Crown of Charlemagne. Services in Cheraw, SC, Saturday April 9, 2016 at 11AM at St David’s Church. Contributions can be made to St. David’s Cemetery Association, PO Box 1196, Cheraw, SC 29520.
Helena Funderburk
CHERAW – Helena Funderburk, 91, of Cheraw, SC died on Sunday, March 20, 2016. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at 2PM from the Pee Dee Union Baptist Church, Cheraw, SC. Burial followed in the Foundry Hill Cemetery, Cheraw, SC. She was born in Cheraw, SC on June 4, 1924 to the late Rev. Early Funderburk, Sr. and Dinah Tillman Funderburk. Ms. Funderburk was a graduate of Coulter Memorial Academy, Cheraw, SC, received her B.A. degree from Fayetteville State University, Fayetteville, NC and Masters Degree from North Carolina Central University in Durham, NC. She was an educator for more than forty years. Survivors: two brothers, Reece Funderburk and Leroy Funderburk (Joyce), both of Cheraw, SC; a sister, Doretha George (Arthur), Cheraw, SC. Flemming Funerals-Cheraw was in charge. .
Lonnie Richard ‘Ricky’ Guinn
WALLACE – Lonnie Richard “Ricky” Guinn, 59, died Saturday, March 26, 2016. Born in Edwards, California, he was the son of Irene Guinn and the late Charles Guinn. Mr. Guinn was employed by the Weller Corporation for more than 20 years.
He is survived by his mother of Wallace, SC; sister, Debbie (Eddie) Davis of Carolina Beach, NC; niece, Holly (Mike) Fitzgerald of Wilmington, NC; great-niece, Sophia Fitzgerald of Wilmington, NC and special aunt, Louise Hoomstead of Wallace, SC.
He was preceded in death by his father; nephew, Jay Guinn; paternal grandparents, Lonnie and Bessie Guinn and maternal grandparents, James and Ada Broome.
A memorial service will be held 4:00 PM, Sunday, April 3, 2016 at Oak Grove Methodist Church, Wallace, SC.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Chesterfield County Hospice, PO Box 293, Chesterfield, SC 29709.
Edward Doyle Plyler Sr.
CHERAW – Mr. Edward Doyle Plyler, Sr. age 72, died Thursday, March 24, 2016 at his home.
A service of celebration was held at 2:00 PM Saturday, April 2, 2016 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation was from 1:00 – 2:00 PM Saturday, April 2, 2016 prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Plyler was born December 11, 1943 in Monroe, NC a son of the late Fred Edward and Pauline Hargett Squires Plyler. He was a retired general superintendent with Heavy Construction. In addition to his parents, Edward was also preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Plyler.
Survivors include Wife of 36 years: Teresa McDaniel Plyler of the home; Children: Eddie (Ali) Plyler, Brandis P. (Scottie) Hall, and Shawn Etier; 9 Grandchildren: Christian, Joshua, Bella, Colton, and Jaxon Plyler, Troy and Tyson Hall, and Sophia Hattie and Alexander Maximus Etier; 2 Brothers: Albert Smith Plyler and Carroll Van Plyler; and 3 Sisters: Ruth Plyler Thomas, Sue Plyler Horne, and Betty Plyler Curtice.

Peggy Gaskins Rivers
CHESTERFIELD – Mrs. Peggy Gaskins Rivers, age 79, died Friday, April 1, 2016.
A funeral service was held at3:00 P.M. Sunday, April 3, 2016 at the Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed in the David’s Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation was from 2:00 – 3:00 P.M. Sunday, April 3, 2016 prior to the service at the Funeral Home.
Mrs. Rivers was born August 7, 1936 in Chesterfield, SC, a daughter of the late John Lawson “Johnny” and Annie Belle Lewis Gaskins. She was a homemaker and a member of David’s Grove Baptist Church. Peggy enjoyed working in her flowers and cooking. In addition to her parents, Peggy was also preceded in death by her husband, J. Royce Rivers and by a sister, Joelyn Walters.
Survivors include 2 Sons: Ronnie R. Rivers and Jerry (Jackie) Rivers both of Chesterfield, SC
1 Daughter: Teresa Gail Bruce of Eden, NC; 5 Grandchildren: Justin (Jessica M.) Rivers, Jessica Rivers, Joe (Dottie) Rivers, Shannon Steele, and Mark Brock; 8 Great Grandchildren: Trevor Royce, Trevor, Weston, Abby, Alisha, Chandler, Jannelle, and Tierra; 3 Brothers: Bubba (Rachel) Gaskins, Mike (Patricia) Gaskins, and Ricky (Vickie) Gaskins all of Chesterfield, SC
1 Sister: Brenda G. Curry of Chesterfield, SC; and Nieces and Nephews.

Glenn L. Cottingham
CHERAW – Glenn L. Cottingham, 76, died Tuesday, March 22, 2016. Born in Latta, SC, he was a son of the late Elliott Glenn and Lelia Moore Cottingham. He was retired from Stanley Tools of Cheraw (15+ years of service). He was a member of Free Worship, Cheraw, SC. Mr. Cottingham was a veteran of the SC Army National Guard. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and most of all spending time with his family.
Surviving is his wife, Peggy Lane Cottingham of Cheraw, SC, daughters, Teresa (Tim) C. Streett of Florence, SC, Jennifer (Chris) C. Davis of Cheraw, SC, a brother, Mike (Margaret) Cottingham of Florence, SC, a sister, Lois (Ray) White of Latta, SC, grandchildren, Ryan (Anna) Streett, Kaitlin Streett, Mason Davis, Hunter Davis and a great grandchild, Cecily Streett.
The family received friends 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Thursday, March 24, 2016 at Kiser Funeral Home, Cheraw, SC.
A funeral service was held 1:00 PM, Friday, March, 25, 2016, at Kiser Funeral Home, Cheraw, SC.
A committal service was held 3:30 PM Friday, March 25, 2016 in the Magnolia Cemetery, Latta, SC.

Janice C. Estridge
CAMDEN – Funeral service for Janice Christmas Estridge, 71, was held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Camden with burial to follow in Timrod Baptist Church Cemetery in Bethune. The Rev. Bruce Hancock officiated. The family received friends Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation or Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Mrs. Estridge passed away at home on Wednesday, March 23, 2016. Born in Dillon, she was the daughter of the late Forrest Lafon and Mattie Wallace Christmas. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Camden. She volunteered with Make-A-Wish and enjoyed painting, beach music, shagging and most of all spending time with her family. She valued friendship and enjoyed keeping in contact with classmates and those friends from the past.
Surviving are her husband of 21 years, Edwin Wilson Estridge Jr.; daughter Kelly White Kercher (Edward J. Kercher Jr.) of Mt. Pleasant; mother-in-law, Iris M. Estridge; step-children, Edwin M. Estridge (Michelle) of Chapin and Ashton W. Estridge (Nikki) of Lexington; grandson, Edward J. “Jack” Kercher III; and step-grandchildren, Evan, Kylie, Harper, Sophie, Silas and Sullivan Estridge. She was predeceased by a brother, Richard Christmas.

Ella Elizabeth Johnson Kelley
WADESBORO – Mrs. Ella Elizabeth Johnson Kelley, age 83, of Harrisville, NY, went home to be with her Lord, Saturday, March 12, 2016, while spending time with her daughter in Wadesboro, NC
A service of celebration was held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, March 19, 2016 at Pine Grove Baptist Church, 293 Zoar Road, Chesterfield, SC 29709.
Visitation is anytime at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Gary Hovermale, 3970 Country Club Road, Wadesboro, NC.
Mrs. Kelley was born November 3, 1932, in Ogdensburg, NY, a daughter of the late Thomas and Jennie Beatie Johnson. She was a former therapy assistant, with E.J. Noble Hospital for 20 years, and retired from St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center in 1990.
Ella was a member of North Gouverneur Methodist Church, in North Gouverneur, NY, and attended Pine Grove Baptist Church, when she was spending time with her daughter, Sue. In addition to her parents, Ella was also preceded in death by her husband, Lindon Kelley, her son, Lindon Kelley, Jr. and her 5 brothers, George, Robert, Walter, Albert, and Ralph Johnson.
Survivors include 2 Daughters: Sue (Gary) Hovermale of Wadesboro, NC and Carol (Allen) Bango of Harrrisville, NY; Daughter-in-law: Diane Kelley of Gouverneur, NY
Also 9 Grandchildren and 19 Great Grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Pine Grove Baptist Church (Maintenance Fund) 293 Zoar Road, Chesterfield, SC.
