Luther Edward Cannon, 69, husband of Margie Carter Cannon of 243 Old English Road, died at his home at an early hour Dec. 17, 2002, after an extended illness. Mr. Cannon was born in Union on Nov. 11, 1933, a son of the late Claude and Ruth Gregory Cannon. He was a member of Brown's Creek Baptist Church and was retired from J.P. Stevens Co., Whitmire Plant.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Barbara Bradburn of Union; a son, Bobby Cannon of Union; a sister, Emma Brackins of Union; a brother, Jack Cannon of Union; five grandchildren, Lisa Ann Cannon, Randy Cannon, Timothy Bradburn, Kacie Bradburn and Amber Bradburn all of Union; and two great-grandsons, Nathan Arrington and Nicholas Arrington of the home.
Mr. Cannon was predeceased by a sister, Hazeleen C. Tucker. The family is at the home of his daughter, Barbara Bradburn, 241 Old English Road, Union. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home.
Ferol G. Richardson
Ferol Gregory Richardson, age 79, of 1859 Tinker Creek Road, widow of Melvin Robbins Richardson, died Dec. 15, 2002, at 9:15 p.m. in Wallace Thomson Hospital after a sudden illness. Mrs. Richardson was born in Union on June 24, 1923, a daughter of the late William Smith Gregory and Sudie Bentley Gregory. She was a member of Salem Baptist Church and was retired from the Union County School System.
Surviving are a daughter, Nancy Richardson of the home; a sister, Myrtle Maybin of Union; a brother, Manning Gregory of Chester and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Salem Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Smith Gregory, Barry Maybin, Jerry Gregory, Evans Crocker, Hugh Jeter and Carrol Gregory. The following area asked to assemble at the church Wednesday at 2:45 p.m. to form the honorary escort: Wayne Gregory, Irby Mabry, Paul Stewart, Billy Dixon, Ricky Smith, Milford Queen and Charlie Sease.
The body will remain at the funeral home where the family will receive friends tonight from 7 until 9 and will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. Wednesday to await the hour of service. The family is at the home, 1858 Tinker Creek Road. The S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
Kathleen R. Robinson
Kathleen Richardson Robinson, 71, wife of Eddie F. Robinson of 207 Philippi Church Road, died Dec. 16, 2002, at 11:05 a.m. in Wallace Thomson Hospital. Mrs. Robinson was born in Greenville on Oct. 30, 1931, a daughter of the late Rob Richardson and Frances James Vinson and step-daughter of the late Frank Vinson. She was a member of Philippi Baptist Church and was retired from Excel Hosiery Mill.
Surviving in addition to her husband are a daughter, Pam Sinclair and her husband David of Union; two sons, Roger (Pee Wee) Robinson and his wife Shirley of Union and Eddie Dean Robinson and his wife Wanda of Jonesville; two sisters, Viola Peppers of Georgia and Shirley Adams of Jonesville; a brother, Larry Vinson of Union; seven grandchildren, Jeff Sinclair, Stacey Sinclair, Mark Robinson, Matt Robinson, Robbie Sumner, Lisa Moss and Tracy Messer; eight great-grandchildren, Devon Sinclair, Macayla Sinclair, Jasmine Robinson, Michael Robinson, A.J. Inman, Ashley Messer, Jonathan Messer and Kathleen Kay Robinson born Dec. 16, 2002.
Mrs. Robinson was predeceased by a grandchild, Kitty Robinson and a great-grandchild, Skylar Robinson. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Philippi Baptist Church by the Rev. Brad Goodale. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Dean Robinson, Neil Robinson, Steve Robinson, Donald Robinson, Robbie Turner, Kerry Adams, Carrol Alexander and Lewis Clark. The following are asked to assemble at the church Wednesday at 1:45 p.m. to form the honorary escort: Dr. Robert M. Wentz and Dr. Helen Stockinger.

Jessie W. Steen
WHITMIRE - Jessie Willis Steen, 83, of 619 Evans St., died Dec. 15, 2002 at her home. She was born in Kyles Ford, Tenn., a daughter of the late Loyd and Maxie Miller. She was retired from United Merchants in Union and was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are one son, Jimmy T. Willis of the home; three daughters, Sybil McWatters of Whitmire, Betsy Driggers of Calhoun Falls and Joyce McWatters of Clinton; two brothers, Oscar Miller of Thousand Oaks, Calif., and Lawrence W. Miller of Whitmire; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 3 p.m. in the Gray Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Whitmire Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 7-9 at the funeral home. Gray Funeral Home of Whitmire has charge of arrangements.

Rev. A. Heyward Comer Sr.
SPARTANBURG - Rev. Alvin Heyward Comer, Sr., 77, of 1206 Melvin St., died Dec. 16, 2002, at Spartanburg Hospital for Restorative Care. A native of Union County, he was the son of the late Thomas and Myrtle Sanders Comer. He was the husband of Lunelle Reeves Cox Comer and was first married to the late Juanita Parton Comer.
He was a retired Baptist minister, having served at Drayton Baptist Church for 32 years. After his retirement he served a number of churches in Spartanburg County as interim minister. A member of Drayton Baptist Church, Rev. Comer was instrumental in the organization of the Drayton Rescue Squad #15. He was a graduate of North Greenville College, Furman University, and the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY.
Surviving in addition to his wife are four sons, Alvin H. Comer Jr., of Ocean Isle, N.C., David K. Comer of Cannons Campground, Thomas S. Comer of Sumter and Michael L. Comer of Drayton; a brother, W. Marshall comer of Union; two step-daughters, Nancy Wooters of Durham, N.C. and Janet Cox of Asheville, N.C.; a step-son, David Cox of Spartanburg; eight grandchildren and seven step-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a son, Brian E. Comer of Drayton. Visitation will be from 6 until 9 tonight at Floyd's Grenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Drayton Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. James W. Crocker, the Rev. Randall Blackman, and the Rev. Keith Davis. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Honorary Escort will be the Drayton Fire and Rescue Squad. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Drayton Rescue Squad, 50 Carney Street, Drayton, S.C. 29333; or to Mobile Meals Service, P. O. box 461, Spartanburg, S.C. 29304. The family is at the home of a son, Michael Comer, 13 Ansel Street, Drayton. Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel has charge of arrangements.
Sue Ford
BILOXI, Miss. - Sue Ford, 70, wife of John I. Ford Sr., died Dec. 17, 2002 in Biloxi. Mrs. Ford was born in Vinita, Okla., the daughter of the late Tom Karl and Mary Louise Estes Haneck. She had been a resident of Biloxi since 1992. She served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.
She was a member of Beauvoir United Methodist Church, the Ann Grayson Chapter 50 of the Biloxi Order of the Eastern Star, the Belles and Buoys and Star Twirlers Square Dance Clubs of Gulfport. Mrs. Ford had held positions as a retail manager, a special education instructor and served as a volunteer for the Crisis Line in Burlington, N.C., the American Red Cross and the Gulf Coast Community Hospital.
Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons, John I. Ford Jr. of Monongahela, Pa., and Donald A. Ford of Hendersonville, Tenn.; a daughter, Karla K. Martin of Orlando, Fla.; a sister, Tommy Lou Nichol; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be at Riemann Memorial Funeral Home, 274 Beauvoir Road, in Biloxi Thursday from 5 until 6 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home chapel Thursday at 6 p.m. Memorials made be made to the Shriner's Children's Hospital, 3100 Sanford Ave., Shreveport, La., 71103 or the Arthritis Foundation, Gulf Coast Chapter, 4387 Leisure Time Drive, Diamondhead, Miss., 38525. Riemann Memorial Funeral Home of Biloxi has charge of arrangements.

Bernice T. Johnson
Bernice J. Johnson, 82, of 1300 S. Pinckney St. Pinckney Place, widow of Robert E. Johnson, died Dec. 15, 2002, at Spartanburg Regional Med-ical Center. Mrs. Johnson was born in Union County a daughter of the late John and Plina T. Young. She was a member of Corinth Baptist Church where she sang on the senior choir.
She was a graduate of Sims High School and was employed as a Dietician at Sims High School and Allen University. Mrs. Johnson was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Corinth Baptist Church by the Rev. James Farr. Burial will be in Antioch Cemetery. Viewing will be Thursday from 11 am. until 7 p.m. Gibson and Brown Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
