Tallie W. Allred

CHERAW - Mrs. Tallie W. Allred, age 88, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, August 27, 2016. Funeral services were held at 4:00 PM Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Joe Stroud with burial to follow in the Chesterfield Cemetery. The family received friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Monday, August 29, 2016 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Allred was born January 12, 1928 in Clemson, SC a daughter of the late Bolt and Pauline White. Due to her parent’s early death, Tallie was reared at the Connie Maxwell Children’s Home in Greenwood, SC and developed a love for God and His word. She was a faithful member of Midway Baptist Church where she served as church pianist for many years. Mrs. Allred was a retired employee of Delta Mills. She enjoyed reading, sewing, cooking, playing piano, and her favorite time of the day was early each morning reading and studying God’s word.

In addition to her parents, Tallie was also preceded in death by 1 son, John L. “Dooney” Allred; 1 son-in-law, Charles A. Freeman; and 2 grandsons, John Everett Miller and Michael Lee Hartwick, Jr.

Survivors include her beloved husband of 64 years, John J. Allred of the home; 3 daughters, Cheryl M. (Ken) Miller of Cheraw, SC, Vicki (Steve) Cobb of Parkville, MO, and Nancie E. Freeman of Cheraw, SC; 6 grandchildren, Kenneth (Jill) Miller, Jr. of Lexington, KY, Quentin Miller of Jacksonville, FL, Robb (Melissa) Hartwick of Orrick, MO, Phillip Allred of Cheraw, SC, Rachel Grace (Danny) Rorie of Lilesville, NC, and Cassandra T. Freeman of California City, CA; 1 sister, Eloise Phillips of Greenville, SC; 5 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Mildred Lee Quick Martin Cox, 85, passed away on Tuesday, August 30, 2016. Mrs. Cox was married to Dewey Marshall Martin (deceased), father of her three children, and is the widow of James Craven "Jed" Cox of Asheboro, NC.
Funeral services were conducted at 3:00 p.m. Friday, September 2, 2016 at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Richard Rainwater officiating.
Born in Marlboro County, SC, Mrs. Cox was predeceased by her parents, Roland Vance and Katie Kathryn Quick of SC and by five siblings, Luther, Harrison, Mamie, Donnie and Minnie.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Faye Martin of Charlotte; two sons, Michael L. Martin of Randleman, and Reginald Lewis Martin and wife, Judy of Sherrills Ford; sister, Thelma Rainwater of Wallace, SC; grandchildren, Kristopher James Martin in US Army, Autumn Nicole Martin of Camas, WA, Chad Lewis Martin of Randleman, Joshua Keenan Martin of Chapel Hill, Tricia Martin Vaughn of Franklinville, Jeffrey Forbes of Burlington; and several great-grandchildren.
The family received friends from 2:00-3:00 p.m., Friday prior to the service at the funeral home.

Jackie Mitchell Evans

PAGELAND - Mr. Jackie Mitchell Evans, 73, of Pageland, South Carolina went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, September 1, 2016.

Mr. Mitchell Evans was born on May 12, 1943 in Pageland, South Carolina to the late Jack Evans and Allie Jordan Evans. Mitchell later met and united in marriage to the love of his life Minnie Bennett Evans. Mitchell spent most of his life farming in the Pageland Community where he received his nickname “The Watermelon Man”, he was also a member of Providence Baptist Church of Pageland. Mitchell’s most treasured accomplishments were his loving family and also his two guard dogs Lady and Maggie.

Those left to celebrate and remember his life include; his loving wife of 51 years Minnie Bennett Evans of Pageland, South Carolina, Son, Brad (Dana) Evans of Pageland, South Carolina, Daughter, Lisa (Jack) Horton of Pageland, South Carolina, three Grandchildren, Jake (Lacey) Horton of Jefferson, South Carolina, Hunter Horton, and Aleiya Evans both of Pageland, South Carolina, Great Granddaughter, Remi Horton of Jefferson, South Carolina, Sisters, Pat Moore of Rock Hill, South Carolina, Judy Jordan of Pageland, South Carolina, Sue (Duane) Dawley of Lancaster, South Carolina and Gail (Tommy) Jenkins of Florence, South Carolina.

A Celebration of Life Graveside Service was held at Providence Baptist Church at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, September 4, 2016 with Pastor Roger Wall and Pastor Steve Neal officiating.

The family received friends from 2:00-3:00 P.M. on Sunday, September 4, 2016 at the Providence Baptist Church Sanctuary.

HARTSVILLE - Funeral services for Carolyn Teal Griggs, age 71, were held Friday at 4:00 at the Cedar Creek Baptist Church. Rev. Jeff Williams and Rev. Jackie Hinson officiated. Burial was in the Cedar Creek Baptist Church Cemetery directed by Norton Funeral Home. Visitation was Thursday 5-7 pm at the funeral home. Carolyn was born in Hartsville a daughter of the late Lester Teal and Mary Winburn Teal Griggs. She was retired from Sonoco Products Company, a member of Cedar Creek Baptist Church where she served as past Treasurer of the church, a member of the church social committee, taught the Pre-School Sunday School Class and was Secretary-Treasurer of the Meredian Sunday School Class. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and a friend to everyone. Surviving are her husband, Wilson Griggs, Hartsville; two sons, Jim (Lisa) Griggs, Elgin and Timothy (Karen) Griggs, Patrick; one sister, Janelle (Walter) Britt, Hartsville; brother in law, Olin Griggs, Hartsville; step brother, Loran (Linda) Griggs, Hartsville; step sister, Elaine (Marvin) Whittle, Hartsville; four grandchildren, Ethan & Raegan Griggs, Patrick; Anna Caroline & and Ainsley Griggs, Elgin. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Miriam Griggs and Jean Howle. Memorials may be made to the Cedar Creek Baptist Church Bus Fund, 1635 Cedar Creek Road, Hartsville, S.C. James Gardner Perdue

HARTSVILLE - Funeral services for James Gardner Perdue, age 83, will be held Monday at 4:00 at the Emmanuel Baptist Church. Dr. Gary Colboch and Rev. Charles McLendon officiated. Burial will be in the Westview Cemetery directed by Norton Funeral Home. Visitation will be Sunday 5-7 at the funeral home.
James was born in Patrick a son of the late Bert and Alma Odom Perdue. He was a faithful member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. He is a 1954 graduate of South Carolina Area Trade Schools in Columbia, SC with a degree in Machine Shop. He worked in machine shops in the Greenwood area from 1954 until 1970. After moving to Hartsville, he decided to make a change and began providing yard services for many local residents and businesses. He loved being outdoors and wanted to ensure everyone's yard was perfect. Most of all, he loved working on the grounds of his church and took great pride in what he could offer. He was also well known for grooming and growing the most beautiful roses in Kelleytown.
Survivors are: one Son, Gardner (Missy) Perdue, Hartsville; Daughter, Kellie (Todd) Tolson, Hartsville; Daughter in Law, Robin Lane Perdue, grandsons, Jonathan Perdue, Jacob Perdue and Joshua Tolson; Step-daughter, Sharon (Jimmy) Barbee; Step-sons, Tom (Tanya) Threlkeld; Steve Threlkeld and Gary (Christal) Threlkeld, 15 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Special thanks to Morrell Nursing Home, Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center and McLeod Hospice Care who all took part in giving great care to dad.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shelby Jean Perdue; brother Floyd Perdue and sisters, Linda Perdue, Shirley Rabon Martin and Clara Mae Brown; step son, Keith Threlkeld; grandson, Tim Threlkeld.

Mary Louise Stafford

CHESTERFIELD - Mrs. Mary Louise Stafford, age 85, died Sunday, August 28, 2016. Funeral Services were held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel by Brent Taylor with burial following in the Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family received friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Stafford was born August 8, 1931 in Patrick, SC a daughter of the late John and Ida Oakley Heustess. She was a homemaker and member of Lower Macedonia Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, Mary Louise was the last surviving member of her family and was also preceded in death by her husband, E.H. “Tater” Stafford; one son, Glenn Stafford; and her son-in-law, Maxie R. Gainey.

Survivors include her son, Jerry (Claudia) Stafford; daughter, Cathy Gainey both of Chesterfield, SC; 2 grandchildren, Steven Russell (Kristie) Gainey of Pageland, SC and Jerry James (Hayley) Stafford of Chesterfield, SC; 4 great grandchildren, Kelsey Stafford, Cooper Stafford, Jerry James Stafford, II, and Aiden Russell Gainey; also numerous nieces and nephews.

Essie Carlisle Langley Sutton

CHERAW - Mrs. Essie Carlisle Langley Sutton, age 83, died Sunday, August 28, 2016. Funeral Services were held at 3:00 PM Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Bobby Morton with burial following in the Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens. The family received friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Sutton was born January 4, 1933 in Laurinburg, NC a daughter of the late Nash and Stella Cox Carlisle. She was a retired employee of Dan Rivers and a former employee of the Crandall Plant. Mrs. Sutton enjoyed playing bingo and spending time with her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Essie was also preceded in death by her husband, V.L. “Buck” Sutton; and 1 son, Isaac Langley.

Survivors include 2 sons, Ruben Langley of Maxton, NC and Robin Langley of Cheraw, SC; 2 daughters, Barbara Langley Leviner of Hamlet, NC and Tonia Huckabee of Cheraw, SC; 2 brothers, Donald Ray Carlisle of Hamlet, NC and J.W. Carlisle of Thomasville, NC; 2 sisters, Helen Staton of Rockingham, NC and Sarah Benton of Laurel Hill, NC; 10 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren; also numerous nieces and nephews.

Margaret Tolson White

BENNETTSVILLE - Mrs. Margaret Tolson White passed away Monday, August 29, 2016 at her home in Bennettsville. She was 95 years old.

A funeral service was scheduled for 3:00 p.m. on Friday, September 2, 2016 at Burroughs & Cooper Funeral Home, followed by burial at White Family Cemetery in Patrick, SC. The family received friends from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home, just prior to the service.

Born November 24, 1920 in Patrick, SC, she was the daughter of James Roachel and Vera Chapman Tolson. She was a seamstress for thirty years at Secony Manufacturing Company of Cheraw, SC. Mrs. Margaret was a member of Antioch United Methodist Church in Bennettsville. She enjoyed gardening, canning, and cooking and loved the outdoors, especially her beautiful plants and flowers.

She was preceded in death by her sons, James H. White, William Thomas White, Jerry Eugene White, and Ronnie Wayne White.

She is survived by her sons, Henry White, Jr. ( Margaret) of Chesterfield, SC; Julian L. White (Jackie) of McFarlin, NC; Clyde D. White (Jackie) of Patrick, SC; and daughters, Vera Meggs (Larry) and Ruby Jean O’Tuel (Vernon) all of Bennettsville, SC; brothers, Randle Tolson (Mable) of Patrick, SC; Jetter Tolson (Lydia) of Chesterfield, SC; Odell Tolson Lowell Tolson, Raymond Tolson, Nolan Tolson, and a sister, Daphene Wrenn; 19 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

JEFFERSON - Mayo Wright, 98, died on Thursday, September 1, 2016. Funeral services were held on Monday, September 5, 2016 at 1pm from the Mt. Canaan Baptist Church, Jefferson, SC. Burial followed in the church cemetery. She was born April 22, 1918 in Lancaster County, SC to the late John Lee and Annie Jean Clyburn Wright. Survivors: a devoted nephew, Bobby (Dorothy) Wright, Jefferson, SC and host of nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews. Flemming Funerals-Pageland was in charge. .

Ternetha Ann Bennett

PAGELAND – Ternetha Ann Bennett, 51, died on Tuesday, August 16, 2016. Funeral services were held on Wednesday August 24, 2016 at 2pm from the Pageland Community Center, Pageland, SC. Burial followed in the Oak Hill Missionary Baptist Church, Pageland, SC. She was born March 8, 1965 in Marshville, NC to the late Mary Lean Staton Bennett and Charlie Bennett. Survivors: two sons, Thermond Barrett Jr. (Simona), Pageland, SC and Elvis Autry, Bennettsville, SC; a sister, Theresa Livingston (Pierre), Monroe, NC; six brothers, James Bennett (Tina), Monroe, NC, Ricky Staton, Monroe, NC, Lewis Bennett, Monroe, NC, Charles Bennett, Pageland, SC, Malcolm Bennett, Rock Hill, SC and Robert Bennett (Melissa), Pageland, SC; and three grandchildren. Betty Fincher Oliver

MT. CROGHAN – Mrs. Betty Fincher Oliver, age 67, went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, August 14, 2016 at her home. A Celebration of Life service was held at 3:00 PM Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at Ruby Baptist Church by Pastor Ronald Thurman. The family greeted friends in the sanctuary of the church from 2:15 – 3:00 PM.
Mrs. Oliver was born July 3, 1949 in Pageland, SC a daughter of the late Louie Vernon and Doris Nicholson Fincher. She was a member of Ruby Baptist Church. Mrs. Oliver enjoyed fishing, going to flea markets and auctions, and most of all spending time with her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Betty was also preceded in death by her brothers, Billy R. Fincher and Ronnie Fincher.
Survivors include her son, Gregory Philip Oliver and wife Paula of Foley, AL; her beloved companion of 22 years, Fred Eddins of the home; loving sister, Sheila F. (Bobby Sikes) Wright of Chesterfield, SC; and her beloved grandchildren, Colt Oliver of Chesterfield, SC, Katie and Sydni Oliver of Foley, AL

Chad Davis

CHESTERFIELD - Mr. Chad Davis, age 40, died Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services were held at 11:00 AM Friday, August 12, 2016 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel by Brent Taylor. Burial followed in the Thompson Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family received friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Thursday, August 11, 2016 at the funeral home.

Mr. Davis was born February 12, 1976 in Monroe, NC a son of Avery D. Davis and Carolyn Todd Shoemake. He was a 1995 graduate of Chesterfield High School and an employee of Southern Eight Farms. Chad was a former employee of Dixie Cup and Griggs and Son Contractors. He enjoyed fishing, riding horses, and all forms of carpentry work. His favorite pastime was spending time with his daughters.

He is survived by his loving children, Cheyanne Davis, Savannah Davis, Jewel Davis all of the home; their mother and his best friend, Melissa Davis of Rock Hill, SC; his stepson, Seth Liles of Wadesboro, NC; his significant other and love of his life, Tiffany Maikowski of the home; his father, Avery D. (Deborah Larymore) Davis of Chesterfield, SC; his mother, Carolyn (Mitch) Shoemake of Darlington, SC; 1 brother, Dale Davis of Chesterfield, SC; 2 nephews, Cody and Dustin Davis; 1 niece, Sarah Davis; 2 uncles, Calvin (Cindy Stephens) Davis and Ricky (Alice) Todd; and his loyal blue heeler, “Abby” of the home.

CHESTERFIELD - Mr. Ronnie Glenn Guinn Sr., age 51, died Thursday, August 11, 2016, at McLeod Health Cheraw. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM Monday, August 15, 2016, at Miller-Rivers- Caulder Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. John Cartrette. Burial will follow in the Guinn Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Sunday, August 14, 2016, at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home.

Mr. Guinn was born March 7, 1965, in Hamlet, NC, a son of the late Norman Guinn and Juanita Bass Guinn. He was an Area Manager for Wal-Mart Logistics #6073 and enjoyed working with his family there. Mr. Guinn also enjoyed coaching baseball for the Dixie Youth, reading, playing his PlayStation, and spending time with his grandchildren. Mr. Guinn was also very actively involved with the Chesterfield County Relay for Life

In addition to his parents, Ronnie was preceded in death by his sister Wanda Quick and brother-in-law Max Deese.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Kimberly Curry Guinn of the home; one son, Ronnie Glenn (Alyssa) Guinn Jr. of Patrick, SC; one daughter, Kasey Danielle Guinn of Chesterfield, SC; six brothers, Everett (Doris) Guinn of Laurinburg, NC, Jackie (Linda) Guinn of Bennettsville, SC, Roger Guinn of Bennettsville, SC, Chris Guinn of Monroe, NC, Archie (Alice) Guinn of Marshville, NC, and Gary Guinn of Patrick, SC; four sisters, Nadine Deese of Monroe, NC, Norma (John) McDonald of Rockingham, NC, Patsy (Rickey) Quick of Bennettsville, SC, and Pamela Wooten of Bennettsville, SC; brother-in-law James Quick of Bennettsville, SC; five grandchildren, Ronnie Guinn III, Mark Moten, Ryan Moten, Seth Moten, and Bayleigh Guinn; numerous nieces and nephews; and brother of the heart, Jimbo McGready.

BENNETTSVILLE - Rev. Robert H. Hatcher, Sr., 63, died Friday August 12, 2016. Born in Bennettsville he was a son of the late Simmie Hatcher Sr. and Ruby Bennett Hatcher. He was an ordained Minister with the Emmanuel Holiness Conference. He pastored Red Springs Emmanuel Holiness Church and Lumberton Emmanuel Holiness Church.

Surviving is his wife Shirley Ann Carr Hatcher of Bennettsville, SC, sons Robert Hatcher, Jr. of Bennettsville, SC, Jerry Wayne (Tawnya) Hatcher of Laurinburg, NC, brothers, Simmie Hatcher, Jr., Jimmy (Betty) Hatcher all of Laurel Hill, NC, a brother-in-law, Rev. Vaster Emanuel of Leland, NC, a grandchild, Drake Hatcher, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents listed above and a sister, Billie Joyce Hatcher Emanuel.

The family will receive friends 6:00 PM to 8:00, Saturday, August 13, 2016 at Kiser Funeral Home, Cheraw, SC.

A funeral was held 3:00 PM, Sunday, August 14, 2016 at True Gospel Emmanuel Holiness Church, Wallace, SC. Burial was in the church cemetery.
