MORVEN, N.C. - Mrs. Anna Young Hurst, age 61, entered into rest on Thursday, November 24, 2016. A Graveside service was held at 2:00 PM Sunday, November 27, 2016 at Sandy Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery, 1106 W. Sandy Ridge Rd., Monroe, NC with the Rev. Bruce Adams officiating. The family greeted friends immediately following the committal service in the Sandy Ridge Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. A Celebration of Life service was held at 5:00 PM Sunday, November 27, 2016 at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 305 W. Main Street, Chesterfield, SC. The family greeted friends during a time of visitation and reception immediately following the service in the St. Paul United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.

Mrs. Hurst was born December 10, 1954 in Waco, TX a daughter of the late Walter Wallace Young, Sr. and Wilma Mae Heath Young. She was employed with Union County Public Schools as a Child Nutrition Cafeteria Manager with over 30 years of service. Anna was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church where she served on the Administrative Council and assisted with Vacation Bible School. Her first and foremost priority was spending time with her family, and she also enjoyed cooking, working on the farm, horses, and working in her flower beds.

In addition to her parents, Anna was also preceded in death by her first husband, Norris Helms; and one son, Dustin Helms.

Survivors include her husband, Alvin D. Hurst, Jr. of the home; 2 sons, Jack (Crystal) Helms and Shane Helms both of Monroe, NC; daughter, Jessica Helms (Carl) Nobles of Mineral Springs, NC; 5 grandchildren, Chase Helms, Allen Helms, Jackson Helms, Taylor Helms, and Dustin Nobles; brother, Walter (Marsha) Young, Jr. of Monroe, NC; 2 sisters, Barbara Witmore of Waxhaw, NC and Janie Smith of Monroe, NC; sisters-in-law, Mitzi Helms of Monroe, NC and Susanne (Bill) McGuire of Charlotte, NC; brothers-in-law, Eric (Tammy) Helms of Wingate, NC and J.D. Rayfield of Mt. Pleasant, SC.

Thomas Johnson

Charlotte, NC- Thomas Johnson 78, died on Tuesday, November 15, 2016. Funeral services were held on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at 2pm from the Pleasant Grove A.M.E. Zion Church, Cheraw, SC. Burial followed in the church cemetery. He was born to Thomas Fair and Inez Johnson on April 25, 1938 in Chesterfield, SC. Survivors: two daughters, Dr. Sylvia Bittle-Patton (Myron) and Yolanda Allyssa “Lisa” Wright of Charlotte, NC; a brother, Lester Johnson (Mary) of Ruby, SC; three sisters, Clara J. Gordon and Bunny Johnson of Chesterfield, SC; and Rosa Fair of Baltimore, MD and nine grandchildren. Services were rendered by Flemming Funerals-Pageland.

Louis Kenneth 'Kenny' Lisenby

CHESTERFIELD - Mr. Louis Kenneth “Kenny” Lisenby, age 64, entered into rest on Friday, November 18, 2016. Funeral Services were held at 4:00 PM Sunday, November 20, 2016 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel by Phillip Caulder, Jr. with burial following in the Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery. The family received friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Saturday, November 19, 2016 at the funeral home.
Mr. Lisenby was born February 14, 1952 in Bennettsville, SC a son of the late William L. and Betty Faye Merriman Lisenby. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and a member of Hopewell Baptist Church. He was an Aircraft Mechanic Contractor and his favorite pastime was fishing. Kenny will be remembered as an easy going fellow who was willing to help anyone.
In addition to his parents, Kenny was also preceded in death by his step mother, Sue G. Lisenby.
Survivors include his daughter, Tonya (James) Henley of Columbia, SC; 3 grandchildren, Ian, Luke, and Seth; brother, J.W. (Doris) Lisenby of Chesterfield, SC; aunts, Mary Burch of Columbia, SC, Margaret Ann Moore of Lilesville, NC, Teenie Freeman of Chesterfield, SC; uncle, William “Bill” Merriman of Chesterfield, SC; also numerous nieces and nephews.

Harold Patrick McLain

PATRICK - Mr. Harold Patrick McLain, age 89, entered into rest on Friday, November 25, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Monday, November 28, 2016 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home by Rev. Galen Dunbar, Rev. Bradley Seaton, and Phillip Caulder, Jr. with burial following in the St. John Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 2:00 – 3:00 PM Monday prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mr. McLain was born May 12, 1927 in Patrick, SC a son of the late John Walter and Sarah Van Rice Polson McLain. He was a graduate of Chesterfield High School, class of 1945, and a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. Mr. McLain was a retired area supervisor with D.J. Creed Inc. of Camden, SC with 33 years of service. He was a life-long faithful member of St. John Freewill Baptist Church where he served as a former deacon for over 44 years and was also former choir leader. Mr. McLain was a member of the Chesterfield Masonic Lodge 220 and served on the Advisory Board of First Citizens Bank. Harold enjoyed fishing, traveling, and camping, but will always be remembered as a true family man.

In addition to his parents, Harold was also preceded in death by his son, William Harold “Billy” McLain; 7 brothers, Avender, Lonnie, Oscar, Ernest, Walter, Willard, and Theodore McLain; and 2 sisters, Corrine M. Lisenby and Eva Grooms.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 67 years, Helen T. McLain of the home; 1 son, Dennis Wayne McLain of Patrick, SC; 1 daughter, Virginia McLain Smith of Cheraw, SC; 4 grandchildren, Matthew William (Jennifer) McLain of Lexington, SC, Erin Suzanne McLain (Rodney) Byrd of Cheraw, SC, Kandyce Gibson Cail of Patrick, SC, and Megan Diane Pressley of Cheraw, SC; 7 great grandchildren, Joshua Lee Cail, Jr., Ashtin Patrick Cail, Charlee McLain “Lainey” Light, Logan William Byrd, Jackson Adeimy Byrd, Mattison “Mattie” Taylor McLain, and Reed McLain; also a host of nieces and nephews.

Dalphus Heywood Miller

JEFFERSON - Dalphus Heywood Miller, 36, died on Saturday, November 12, 2016. Funeral services were held on Sunday, November 20, 2016 at 12pm from the Flemming Funeral Chapel, Pageland, SC. Burial followed in the Miller Family Cemetery, Jefferson, SC. He was born to Dalphus Heywood Kilgo and Tammie Lee Miller on May 11, 1980 in Monroe, NC. Survivors: his wife, Kathleen Miller; three sons, Dalphus Josiah Miller, Tobias Miller and Caleb Muller; father, Dalphus Heywood Kilgo; mother, Tammie Lee Miller (Cobb); siblings, Derrionne Miller, Desmond Miller, Natasha Miller and Yaronda Kilgo. Services were rendered by Flemming Funerals-Pageland.

Bobbie Jean Outlaw Moore

CHARLOTTE - Mrs. Bobbie Jean Outlaw Moore, age 78, went to sleep in Jesus on November 26, 2016. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, November 28, 2016 at White Oak Presbyterian Church Cemetery by Rev. Charles Terry. The family will greet friends from 12:00 – 1:00 PM prior to the service in the White Oak Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall.
Mrs. Moore was born January 1, 1938 in Ruby, SC a daughter of the late William Homer Outlaw and Sarah Oliver Eddins. In 1953 she moved to Charlotte and married George Flander “Coot” Moore. Upon his passing in 2008, they had been married for 54 years. Bobbie was a two time cancer survivor and, after a long battle, succumbed to kidney failure.
Small in stature, but with the biggest heart that you could find in a person, she lived her life with incredible dignity. She was a great “soul food” cook and fed many people throughout her years. Her six children were her world and she loved them unconditionally. Words cannot express the void that has been left at her passing. Bobbie was one of a kind and will truly be missed.
In addition to her parents and husband, Bobbie was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Michelle Terry.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Pat (Rev. Charles) Terry of Pageland, SC, Bill Moore and Bobby Moore both of Charlotte, NC, Phillip (Wanda) Moore of Newnan, GA, George (Sandra) Moore of Cramerton, NC, and Jeff (Julia) Moore of Lawrenceville, GA; 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; sisters, Doris Thurman, Bonnie (Wylie) Gainey, Pat Rushing, and Sue Stogner all of Jefferson, SC, and Joyce (Arthur) Bryant of Sun City, FL; brother, Jim (Sue) Eddins of Jefferson, SC.

Nannie Lisenby Rivers

CHESTERFIELD - Mrs. Nannie Lisenby Rivers entered into rest on Saturday, November 19, 2016. Funeral Services were held at 3:00 PM Monday, November 21, 2016 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Ed Traxler and Phillip Caulder, Jr. with burial following in the Rivers Family Cemetery. The family greeted friends from 2:00 – 3:00 PM Monday prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Rivers was born July 18, 1924 in Wadesboro, NC a daughter of the late Jefferson Davis and Lottie Adams Lisenby. She was a member of Zoar United Methodist Church, where she was a faithful choir member, member of the U.M.W., and member of the Ladies Sunday school class #9. Nannie enjoyed square dancing, shopping, and traveling with her beloved late husband, “Lem”. Some of her other hobbies included gardening, working in her flowers and yard, and spending time her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Nannie was also preceded in death by her husband, Lemuel Hall Rivers; brothers, Albert, Perry, Lowden, Knowlton Roy, and Thomas Lisenby; sisters, Ethel Moore, Mary Belle Honeycutt, and Dethane Molaro.
Survivors include her children, Nancy (Tom) Freeman of Burlington, NC, Steve (Mary Lynn) Rivers, and Joel (Donna) Rivers both of Chesterfield, SC; grandchildren, Ben (Rebecca) Freeman of Cary, NC, Mark Edward (Kelli) Freeman of Palo Alto, CA, Katy (Matthew) Anderson of Greensboro, NC, Brian (Mandy) Rivers, Eric (Krystin) Rivers, and Elizabeth (Kip) Moss all of Chesterfield, SC, Jessica (Emilio Cobanera) Rivers of Vermont, Laura Rivers of Chesterfield, SC, and Karen (Austin) Caulder of Cheraw, SC; 18 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

WALLACE - Sarah McMillan Roller, 80, died Saturday, November 19, 2016. Born in Red Springs, NC she was a daughter of the late Archie and Anne Mae Locklear McMillan. She was the widow of John Roller, Jr. She was a member of Mission of Faith Church, Wallace, SC. She enjoyed sewing and was a hard worker. She loved spending time with family.

Surviving is her son, Aldon (Carla) Roller of Wallace, SC, daughters, Sylvia (Gerald) Previtte, Dorothy (Jimmie) Teal, Sandy (Bob) Hall all of Wallace, SC, sons-in-law, Rodney Cohoon of Wallace, SC, step-daughter, Catherine Honeycutt of Salisbury, NC, a sister, Marie Chavis of Red Springs, NC, a special honey Chris Melton, 8 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband listed above, also, daughters, Deborah Cohoon, Linda Roller, brothers, Lacy McMillan, Reece McMillan, Leonard McMillan, sisters, Belle Goins, Stella Brayboy, Cassie Locklear, Sallie Dial, and a grandson “Son” of the home, Samuel Jordan Roller.

Irvin Laverne Bacot

CHAPIN - A graveside service for Irvin Laverne Bacot, 90 of Chapin was held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 20, 2016 at Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens, S. Highway 1, North Cheraw, SC 29520. Reverend Lane Godbold Rogerson. Temples Halloran Funeral Home, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29212, is assisting the family.

Mr. Bacot passed away on Thursday, November 17, 2016. Born in Rockingham, NC he was the son of the late Eugene Greyard Bacot and Lina Quick Bacot. He proudly served in the United States Army.

Surviving are his sister, Peggy Calcutt (Joe) of Florence, SC; brother, Bobby Bacot (Barbara) Laurinburg, NC; along with many niece and nephew. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Ann Bacot, Mildred Hammond and four brothers, Bernard Bacot, Eugene Bacot, Harold Bacot and Danny Bacot.

Rosa Marie McRae Chapman

CHERAW - Mrs. Rosa Marie McRae Chapman, age 58, entered into rest on Sunday, November 13, 2016 at her home. Homegoing Services were held at 2:00 PM Sunday, November 20, 2016 at FreeWorship by Pastor Chad Vick. The family received friends from 4:00 – 6:00 PM Saturday, November 19, 2016 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home, 318 E. Main Street, Chesterfield, SC.
Mrs. Chapman was born July 28, 1958 in Bennettsville, SC a daughter of the late Leo McRae, Sr. and Mary Jane Baker McRae. Rosa was a graduate of Clio High School, class of 1976, and attended Richmond Community College and Florence Darlington Tec where she obtained her Associate of Science degree in nursing. Mrs. Chapman was a member of FreeWorship and served on the Hospitality Team. Rosa was a God-fearing lady who loved the Lord with all her heart. She was blessed with the gift of prophecy and was greatly revered as a Prophetess. Her ministry also included working with Scotland Regional Hospice, Hospice of Chesterfield County, and Sandhills Medical Center where she was awarded the employee of the year in 2005.
In addition to her parents, Rosa was also preceded in death by her brother, Sylvester McRae and infant brother, Lorenzo McRae.
Surviving are her husband of 15 years, Paul Chapman of the home; son, De'Andre Chapman of GA; daughter, Ashley (Kris) Sanford of El Paso, TX; 3 sisters, Tammy McRae and Lori McRae both of Clio, SC, and Monique (Levan) Mitchell of Lake View, SC; 6 brothers, Lemard McRae of Bennettsville, SC, Charles McRae of Oakland, CA, Leo (Shirley) McRae of Dillon, SC, Raymond McRae, Leon McRae, and Eric McRae all of Bennettsville, SC; Father-in-law and Mother-in-law, William P. and Nezzie Mae Chapman of Cheraw, SC; sisters-in-law, Darlene (J.D.) Zeb Wilson English

WALLACE - Zeb Wilson “Papa Zeb” English, 82, died Thursday, November 10, 2016. Born in Wallace, SC he was the son of the late Zeb Vance and Lottie English. He was a charter member of the Wallace Rescue Squad (44 years), mentoring many of the members over the years and earning numerous awards for his service. He was a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church. He was a Wallace Bearcat fan and then a Marlboro County Bulldog fan. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, sports and NASCAR. He loved all children, family and friends. He was known in the community as “Papa Zeb.”

Surviving is his wife, Betty Griggs English of the home, sons, Randy (Doris) English of Griffin, GA, Andy (Hope) English of Cheraw, SC, Frankie English of Wallace, SC, Brittany (Mandy) English of Bennettsville, SC, a daughter, Elaine (Tony) Creech of Wallace, SC, sisters, Marie Page of Wallace, SC, Faye Allen of Cheraw, SC, Betty Leviner of Marston, NC, 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents listed above a daughter, Gaynell Coates and a grandchild, Jeffrey Polson.

Earlene Mungo Joyner

LANCASTER - Mrs. Earlene Mungo Joyner, of Lancaster, widow of Rev. Coy Blair Joyner, passed away Monday, November 14, 2016 at White Oak Manor. She was born November 28, 1924 in Kershaw, a daughter of the late Lawson Evander Mungo and Bessie Louise Catoe Mungo. Mrs. Joyner was a devoted and loving wife and mother, who was a Christian from an early age. She and her husband devoted their lives and ministry to the service of God. Mrs. Joyner was a graduate of Clear Creek Bible College and was a member of Sherwood Baptist Church.

A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Joyner was held Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Lancaster Funeral Home with Rev. Chris Tipton and Rev. Patrick Blackmon. Burial will be in the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Joyner is survived by two sons, Frankie Joyner and his wife Theresa of Patrick and John Joyner and his wife Patty of Hillsboro, Oregon; a daughter, Donna Johnson and her husband Ron of Lancaster; a brother, Ray Mungo and his wife Joann of Lancaster; two sisters, Peggy Harmon and her husband Earl of Lancaster and Kathryn Dabney of Fort Mill; nine grandchildren; J.R. Joyner, Shannon Stewart, Courtney Crompton, Ashley Johnson, Michael Johnson, Stacia Oliver, Dylan Hrkac, Elle Joyner and Kiara Joyner, and seven great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Joyner was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Mungo, three sisters, Meta Payne, Betty Short, Loree Pate, and a grandson in-law Paul Crompton.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at Lancaster Funeral and other times at the home of Donna and Ron Johnson.

CHERAW - Jennie Steinwandtner, 85, died Wednesday, November 16, 2016. She was born in Newark, NJ. She was a homemaker and enjoyed crocheting.

Surviving are her sons, William Rauseo, Domenic (Karen) Rauseo, Vincent Rauseo, daughters, Maria Molinari and Helen (Joy Rothenberger) Rauseo, 18 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by a son, Vito Rauseo, a daughter-in-law, Theresa Rauseo and a son-in-law, Philip Molinari.

Plans will be announced concerning a memorial service.
