CHESTERFIELD - Mrs. Margaret Douglas Kneece, age 84, entered into rest on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at her home. Funeral Services were held at 4:00 PM Friday, April 21, 2017 at Douglas Mill Baptist Church by Rev. Wayne Burr with burial following in the Douglas Mill Cemetery. The family greeted friends from 3:00 – 4:00 PM prior to the service at the church.
Mrs. Kneece was born October 1, 1932 in Chesterfield, SC a daughter of the late Dwight Lloyd Douglas and Nancy Merriman Douglas. She was a retired accountant with the Department of Mental Health in Columbia with over 25 years of service. Mrs. Kneece was a faithful member of Douglas Mill Baptist Church and also served on the Douglas Mill Cemetery Association. She enjoyed working in her flowers and spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, Margaret was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bob” Kneece; daughter, Kay Lisenby; 2 sisters, Deferiss Valverde and Pat Snipes.
Survivors include her children, Crystal (Jerry) Steen of Chesterfield, SC, Teressa Keeling of Jacksonville, FL, and Alfred “Buck” (Becky) Sellers of Chesterfield, SC, Butterball, and Bobby both of Columbia, SC; grandchildren, Jessica (Jay) Carlson of Cheraw, SC, Jim Hough of Chesterfield, SC, Mary Margaret (Terry) Hancock, Matthew Hancock both of Cheraw, SC, Douglas Keeling of Jacksonville, FL, Jennifer Sellers of Chesterfield, SC, Marshall (Jennifer) Hendricks of Cheraw, SC; 5 great grandchildren, Roland, Violet, Clayton, Dylan, and Kaleb.

Peggy Sue McIntyre

MT. CROGHAN - Ms. Peggy Sue McIntyre, age 57, entered into rest on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at her home. A Celebration of Life Service was held at 11:00 AM Thursday, March 30, 2017 from the Chapel of Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home.
Ms. McIntyre was born February 20, 1960, a daughter of Doris Eddins Thurman and the late Bobby Thurman.
In addition to her father, Peggy was also preceded in death by a nephew, Bobby Hudson.
Survivors include her companion, Billy “Bill” Oliver, Jr. of the home; 3 sons, Wayne (Shasta) Thurman of Kershaw, SC, Jonathan (Lynn) McIntyre of Camden, SC, and Matthew (Asia) McIntyre of Kershaw, SC; 6 grandchildren; mother, Doris Eddins Thurman of Jefferson, SC; 3 brothers, Bobby Thurman of Mt. Croghan, SC, Larry Thurman of Jefferson, SC, and Timothy Thurman of Jefferson, SC; 2 sisters, Barbara Gail “Boots” Thurman of Chesterfield, SC, and Millie (Danny) Joplin of Mt. Croghan, SC.

Frances Hinson Mungo

PAGELAND - Mrs. Frances Hinson Mungo, age 74, entered into rest on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at her home.

Funeral Services were held at 11:00 AM Monday, April 24, 2017 at First Baptist Church of Pageland by Dr. Joel Dale and Phillip Caulder, Jr. with burial following in the church cemetery. The family greeted friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall.
Mrs. Mungo was born March 23, 1943 in Pageland, SC a daughter of the late Courniel and Lavinia Phillips Hinson. Frances was a former “Miss Pageland Tiger”, and a member of her cherished “Christmas Class” at Pageland First Baptist Church. She served her family’s general building contracting company, P.F. & Perry L. Mungo, Inc. as Office Manager for many years. In addition to being a devoted wife, mother and “Meme” to her family, Frances loved nature, flowers and gardening. Saturday mornings were spent searching for hidden and forgotten treasures and bringing them home to incorporate them into her gardens. Frances saw beauty and potential in everyone and in everything and devoted herself to making them see it too.
In addition to her parents, Frances was also preceded in death by her son, Stanley “Stan” Laney Mungo; and 1 brother, Butch Hinson.
Survivors include her beloved husband of 56 years, Perry “Bo” Mungo of the home; son, Gregory Neil Mungo and wife, Robin of Pageland, SC; daughter, Alishia Mungo Branham and husband, Paul of Camden, SC; grandchildren, Sophia Mungo, Laney Mungo, Will Mungo, Sam Mungo, Nathan Branham, Reed Branham, Steven Branham, and Mary Branham; great grandchild, Madelyn Ruth; special niece, Kimberly Hinson Taylor and husband, Scott of Taylors, SC; great nieces, Hannah and Rebekah Taylor.

Lindsay Katherine Teal Rimmer

LILESVILLE – Mrs. Lindsay Katherine Teal Rimmer, 34, walked into the arms of her Heavenly Father exclaiming, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith” on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at Hospice of Union County in Monroe.

Funeral services were held at 3:00pm Friday, April 21, 2017 at Gum Springs Baptist Church. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

The family greeted friends from 1:30pm until 3:00pm Friday at the church and other times at the home her parents.

Lindsay was born October 15, 1982 in Anson County, NC a daughter of Richard Gerald Teal and Karen Mabe Teal. She was a graduate of Anson High School and Cabarrus College of Health Sciences in Concord where she earned an Associate’s Degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant. She was a member of Gum Springs Baptist Church.

She leaves behind her husband, Matthew Rimmer; her son, Kasen James Rimmer; her parents, Richard and Karen Teal; her brother, Ryan (Rosanna) Teal all of Lilesville; half-brothers, Deon (Pam) Teal of Lilesville and Jimmy (Michelle) Teal of Mohntown, PA; half-sister, Della (Johnny) Yow of Reidsville; a special niece, Maggie “Magpie” Teal whom she loved as her own; her aunts, Penny Young and Doris (Tom) Lathan of Lilesville, as well as, many cousins, nieces, nephews and longtime friends, Emily Tatro, Leslie Griggs, Carrie Burris and Jennifer Scott.

The family would like to thank Dr. Gregory Brouse and his staff for the loving support and care they gave Lindsay and to Hospice of Union County for making her final days so much easier not only for Lindsay but our family too.

In lieu of flowers, it was Lindsay’s request that memorials be made to an education fund for her son, Kasen, by making contributions to Communities for a Cause, 1065 Hailey’s Ferry Rd., Lilesville, NC 28091.

The arrangements are in care of Leavitt Funeral Home.

Timothy Bivens

PAGELAND - Timothy Bivens, died Monday, March 20, 2017. Funeral services were held on Sunday, March 26, 2017, at 2pm from the Mt. Harmon Missionary Baptist Church, Pageland, SC. Burial followed in the church cemetery. He was born January 15, 1960 in Union County, NC, to the late Edward Bivens and Katherine Robinson. Survivors: his wife, Janice Bivens, a daughter, Camvona Bakeney (Carlos), Bethune, SC; two sisters, Paulette Hammonds and Diana White, Wingat

e, NC; a brother, Eddie Bivens (Scab), Wingate, NC; three grandchildren. Services were rendered by Flemming Funerals-Pageland.

Jimmy Ray Chewning

PATRICK - Mr. Jimmy Ray Chewning, age 64, entered into rest on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at his home. Funeral Services will be held at 4:00 PM Tuesday, April 4, 2017 from the chapel of Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home by Phillip Caulder, Jr. with burial to follow in the Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Monday, April 3, 2017 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home.
Mr. Chewning was born September 11, 1952 in Chesterfield, SC a son of Lois D. Chewning and the late Boyd Thomas Chewning, Sr. He was currently employed with Schaeffler for 34 years in Cheraw, SC. Mr. Chewning enjoyed life to the fullest. He loved his wife of 43 years, and was a proud father of two sons. He enjoyed his friends, showing off his mule “Knox”, giving him sugar on the cheek for candy. Mr. Chewning was his wife’s sweetheart, his son’s hero and a good friend to many. A little man with such a big heart.
Mr. Chewning is survived by his wife of 43 years, Sharon C. Chewning of the home; mother, Lois Chewning of Patrick, SC; 2 sons, Jason (Leslie) Chewning, and Jonathan “Andy” (Cindy) Chewning both of Patrick, SC; brother, Tom Chewning of Cheraw, SC; 2 sisters, DeRhonda White of Patrick, SC and Joanie Odom of Chesterfield, SC.

David Crawford
PAGELAND - David Crawford, 94, died on Sunday, March 26, 2017. Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 1, 2017, at 2pm from the Oro United Methodist Church, Pageland, SC. Burial followed in the Nicey Grove Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, Pageland, SC. He was born September 18, 1922 in Pageland, SC to the late Jessie and Cassie Bennett Crawford. Survivors: three sons, Genesis Crawford (Nan), Larry Crawford (Cathy), Pageland, SC, and Joe Crawford (Rosa), Charlotte, NC; two daughters, Mary Wright, Glassboro, NJ, and Vernez Murphy, Charlotte, NC; 23 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren and 36 great great grandchildren. Services were rendered by Flemming Funerals-Pageland.

Timothy Anthony James

CHERAW – Mr. Timothy Anthony James, son of the late Jesse (Harriett) James, Sr., and Samuel (Barbara) Smith was born on August 11, 1965 in Cheraw, South Carolina. On Sunday, March 26, 2017, he entered into eternal rest at McLeod Hospice House in Florence, South Carolina after a long battle with multiple sclerosis.

Tim was united in holy matrimony to Lorraine G. James for 27 years. He was a wonderful husband, a great father, a dependable provider, and an amazing Papa.

He was employed as a house manager for the Board of Disabilities and Special Needs for eight years. He joined and attended Pee Dee Union Baptist Church under Rev. Dr. Jerry Corbett. Tim enjoyed fishing, modifying cars, and his family more than anything.

Tim was preceded in death by two sisters, Denice (Ralph) Douglas and Linda (Thomas) Baskins. He leaves to cherish his memories spouse, Lorraine G. James of Cheraw, SC; his daughter, Jessica (Chris Davis) Grooms, and India G. (Jimmy Jr.) Harris; two grandchildren, Rocky Merriman, and Keyana McKever; his brother, Jesse (Norma Jean) James, Jr, his sister, Barbara (John) Patterson, both of Cheraw, his sister, Sonya Smith of Columbia, SC, and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

Gloria Davis Johnson

CHESTERFIELD - Mrs. Gloria Davis Johnson, age 80, entered into rest on Monday, March 27, 2017 at her home. Funeral Services were held at 3:00 PM Thursday, March 30, 2017, at Bay Springs Baptist Church by Pastor Tracy Gooding with burial following in the church cemetery. The family greeted friends from 2:00 – 3:00 PM prior to the service at the church.

Mrs. Johnson was born June 11, 1936 in Chesterfield County, SC a daughter of the late Walker and Annie Coward Davis. She was a retired employee of Chesterfield Webbing and a member of Bay Springs Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, Gloria was also preceded in death by her husband, A.L. Johnson; brothers, Thomas Davis, Tony Davis, Bobby Davis, and Bois “Bo” Davis; and sisters, Sue Hurst, Patricia Krauss, and Cubbie Pitchford.

Survivors include her children, Mike (Sue) Johnson and Sherry (Wesley) Teal both of Chesterfield, SC, grandchildren, Madison Teal of Chesterfield, SC, Skyler Teal of Rock Hill, SC, Jennifer Johnson, Brian (Stephanie) Johnson both of Chesterfield, SC, Summer (Prentice) Nuttall of Wallace, SC, and Josh Johnson of Chesterfield, SC; great grandchildren, Dustin, Savannah, Alex, Reid, and Gunner; also numerous nieces and nephews and special friend, Grady Gaskins of McBee, SC.

Peggy Goodale Hurst Morrow

CHESTERFIELD - Ms. Peggy Goodale Hurst Morrow, age 74, entered into rest on Monday, March 27, 2017. Funeral Services were held at 2:00 PM Friday, March 31, 2017, at Shiloh United Methodist Church by Pastor Fred McDaniel and Phillip Caulder, Jr. with burial following in the church cemetery. The family received friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Thursday, March 30, 2017, at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home.
Ms. Morrow was born March 19, 1943, in Chesterfield, SC, a daughter of the late Charlie and Irene Gainey Goodale. She was a retired employee of Weller Industries and a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially family gatherings, and attending her grandchildren’s baseball games. Her love was not only limited to her family, but she had a special place in her heart for her dogs.
In addition to her parents, Peggy was also preceded in death by her daughter, Tracy Hurst Rhyne; sister, Catherine Davis; niece, Cassa Messick; and nephew, Craig Goodale.
Survivors include her son, Joe (Stacey) Hurst of Chesterfield, SC; 4 brothers, Jerry (Gayle) Goodale of Cheraw, SC, Thomas Goodale of Chesterfield, SC, W.M. (Miriam) Goodale, and Donnie (Sue) Goodale both of Chesterfield, SC; Grandchildren, Chelsie “Saylor” Hurst, Peyton Hurst, Tyler (Riley) Wallace, Grayce Rhyne and Gabbi Rhyne; great grandchildren, Taylin Brady and Willow Wallace; sister, Elizabeth Goodale of Richmond, VA; Aunt, Beatrice G. Winters of Sumter, SC; and Uncle, Cecil Gainey, Sr. of Cherry Grove, SC

Burial followed in the Galilee A.M.E. Zion Church, McFarlan, NC. He was born August 9, 1966 in Chesterfield, SC to the late Hazel Coleman-Powe and Robert H. Powe. Survivors: his wife, Barbara Nivens-Powe, children, Jerrod Powe, Lugoff, SC, Stephone Powe, Chesterfield, SC, Tia Nivens, Columbia, SC and Sophia Bennett Lilesville, NC; six brothers and two sisters, Napoleon Powe (Mary Ann), Columbia, SC, Reginald Powe, Charlotte, NC, Jacqueline Harrington (Derrick), Morven, NC, Stephen Powe (Alyce), Seattle, WA, Angelia Powe-Phillips (Cleveland), Wadesboro, NC, Dr. Thomas Powe (Demeka), Wadesboro, NC, Emmanuel Powe (Mary), Frederick, MD, Gary Pratt, Morven and four grandchildren. Kenneth Wayne Sellers

CHERAW - Kenneth Wayne Sellers, 58, died Wednesday, March 29, 2017. Born in Cheraw, SC, he was a son of the late Reginald Sellers and Louise Carlson. He was employed by Schaeffler Group Cheraw (INA). An avid hunter and fisherman, he also loved to spend time with his grandchildren.

Surviving is his wife, Julie Ritz Sellers of Cheraw, SC, sons, Adam (Sasha) Sellers of Surprise, AZ and Casey (Trish) Sellers, of Florence, SC a sister, Debbie Sellers-Williams of Cheraw, SC, and three grandsons, Hunter Sellers, Landon Sellers, and Beckett Sellers.

The family received friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Friday, March 31, 2017 at Kiser Funeral Home, Cheraw, SC.

Elizabeth Ann Alder

CHERAW - Elizabeth Ann Alder, 76, died Wednesday, March 22, 2017. Born in Badin, NC, she was a daughter of the late Melvin L Wooten Sr. and Irene Biles Wooten. She was retired from First Citizens Bank with 30+years of service. She enjoyed Ceramics and was the owner of Elizabeth’s Ceramic Shop.

Surviving is her son, Michael Van (Sarah L.) Carter of Cheraw, SC, brothers, Robert E. Wooten of Cheraw, SC, Melvin L Wooten of Cheraw, SC, Tommy L Wooten of Ocala, FL, sisters, Johnnie Rae Adams of Cheraw, SC, Linda B. McDonald of Patrick, SC, 2 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Alder, and a sister, Melvornen E. Roberts.

The family received friends 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, Friday, March 24, 2017, at Kiser Funeral Home, Cheraw, SC.

A funeral was held at 2: 00 PM, Friday, March 24, 2017 at Kiser Funeral Home, Cheraw, SC. Burial was in Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens.

Helen Lowery Creech

CHERAW - Helen Lowery Creech, 76, died Saturday, March 18, 2017. Born in Anson County, NC, she was a daughter of the late Wilburn B. and Leo Horne Lowery. She was a graduate of the United Christian Bible Institute and was a founding member of Maranatha Family Center. Mrs. Creech retired from INA; she loved her dogs and enjoyed reading.

Surviving are her husband, Jackie Creech of the home, sons, Johnny Ingram of Wallace, SC, Ricky (Peggy) Ingram of Cheraw, SC, daughters, Michelle (Mitchell) Freeman of Bennettsville, SC, Diane Quick (Mike) Anderson of Fuquay Varina, NC, Glenda (Allen) Usher of Cheraw, SC, Latasha (Nelson) Bailey of Cheraw, SC, a brother Ward (Joyce) Lowery of Laurel Hill, NC, thirteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents listed above, and a sister Doris Haire.

The family received friends from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, Monday, March 20, 2017, at Maranatha Family Center, Cheraw, SC.

A funeral service was held 3:00 PM, Monday, March 20, 2017 at Maranatha Family Center, Cheraw, SC.
