CHESTERFIELD - Mr. William “Jack” Griggs, age 81, entered into rest on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Graveside services were held at 4:00 PM Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at Chesterfield Cemetery by Pastor Randy Bishop and Brent Taylor. The family greeted friends after the service at the cemetery and other times at the home.
Mr. Griggs was born December 12, 1935 in Chesterfield, SC the son of the late Jack and Maizie Bell Pate Griggs. He graduated from Chesterfield High School and served in the U.S. Navy. After returning home, he went to work with the Seaboard Coast Line Railroad and retired with 35 years of service. Jack loved hunting, fishing, and taking care of his animals, but most of all, spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Patsy Gibson Griggs of the home; one son, Kevin Griggs (Lisa) of Mt. Croghan, SC; one sister, Gerry G. Boone of Florence, SC; one nephew, Timothy K. Boone of Florence, SC; 2 nieces, Tara Barrineau of Fernandina Beach, FL, and Lyndy Boone of Huntersville, NC; and one great niece, Carolina B. Barrineau of Charlotte, NC; and one great nephew, William A. Barrineau of Charleston, SC.
In lieu of flowers the family that memorials be made to Chesterfield Baptist Church, 207 E. Main Street, Chesterfield, SC 29709 or to Hospice of Chesterfield County, P.O. Box 293, Chesterfield, SC 29709.

PAGELAND - Rev. R.J. Knotts, 71, died on Thursday, September 21, 2017. Funeral services were held on Thursday, September 28, 2017 at 3PM from the Mt. Harmon Missionary Baptist Church, Pageland, SC. Burial followed in the Church Cemetery. He was born August 11, 1946 om Marshville, NC to the late Hallie Knotts. Survivors: a daughter, April Lowery, McBee, SC; two sons, Mitchell Lowery (Cynthia), Lancaster, SC and Harold Knotts, Atlanta, GA; four stepsons, Calvin Lowery, Ronnie Lowery, both of Pageland, SC, Grover Lowery (Renea), York, SC and Stoney Lowery (Kathyrn), Baltimore, MD; four sisters, Arurillia Burch, Wadseboro, NC, Barbara Jean Chambers, Martha Boyd (Hazel), both of Marshville, NC and Dorothy Lee (Lewis), Pageland, SC; 17 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren. Services were rendered by Flemming Funerals-Pageland. .
Mary Ella Lisenby
LANCASTER - Mrs. Mary Ella Lisenby, age 86, entered into rest on Saturday, September 30, 2017, at Springs Memorial Hospital surrounded by family members. In honoring Mrs. Lisenby’s request, no formal services will be scheduled.
Mrs. Lisenby was born August 5, 1931 in Chesterfield, SC a daughter of the late Carl and Jessie Gulledge Gaskins. She was a retired employee of Springs Industries in Lancaster and a member of Hopewell Baptist Church of Chesterfield. Mary Ella loved to work in her flowers as long as she was able and enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mary Ella was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lisenby; daughters, Frankie Lisenby and Debbie Fortier; and 2 sisters, Charlotte Bagwell and Madge “Chick” Dixon.
Survivors include her grandsons, Steven Fortier and Michael Fortier both of Lancaster, SC; great grandson, Luke Fortier of Van Wyck, SC; son-in-law, Mark Fortier of Lancaster, SC; sisters, Betty Gaskins, Joan Gaskins, and Jean Gaskins all of Chesterfield, SC and Peggy Coffman of Eustis, Fl; also numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family requests that memorials be made to a charity of one’s choice.

RUBY - James Edwards Little, 80, died on Wednesday, September 27, 2017. Funeral services were held on Monday, October 2, 2017 at 2PM from the Second Chance Ministry Outreach, Chesterfield, SC. Burial followed in the Sweet Home Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, Ruby, SC. He was born February 26, 1937 in Chesterfield County, SC to the late Hallie Little. Survivors: three daughters, Doris Lee Little, Cheraw, SC, Pricilla Ann Little, Clio, SC and Sharon Deloris Little, Ruby, SC; three sons, James Jackson (Goldie), Monroe, NC, Johnny Edward Little, Ruby, SC and Jerry Lee Little (Virginia), Charlotte, NC; a sister, Shirley Mae Streater (Robert), New Haven, CT; 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Services were rendered by Flemming Funerals-Chesterfield. .

CHESTERFIELD - Ms. Rita H. Melton, age 68, entered into rest on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at her home surrounded by family, after her brave and courageous fight with brain cancer. Graveside services were held at 11:00 AM Saturday, September 30, 2017 at Ebenezer United Methodist Church Cemetery by Pastor Mike Phares and Brent Taylor. The family greeted friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall and other times at her home.
Cletus Carroll Moore
JEFFERSON - Cletus Carroll Moore, 69, died on Monday, September 25, 2017. Funeral services were held on Sunday, October 1, 2017 at 3PM from the Flemming Funeral Chapel, Pageland, SC. Burial followed in the Florence National Cemetery, Florence, SC. He was born February 23, 1948 in Chesterfield County, SC to Dorothy C. Moore and the late Willis Moore. Survivors: a daughter, Shanta Barrett, Peachland, NC; four sons, Anthony Moore, Huntersville, NC, Otis Moore, Charlotte, NC, Wesley Moore, Pageland, SC and Chris Moore (Terri), Buffalo, NY; his mother, Dorothy C. Moore, Pageland, SC; four brothers, Steve Moore (Brenda), Washington, DC, David Moore (Jenny), Davie, FL, Bobby Moore (Joyce), Puyallup, WA, and Jerry Moore (Victoria), Austin, TX; four sisters, Margie Bittle (Burnice), Charlotte, NC, Louise (Dr. LeRoy) Smith, Henderson, NV, and Sylvia Covington (Carl), Pageland, SC and Lisa Blakeney, Pageland, SC; a special friend, Betty Mungo, Jefferson, SC; 21 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Services were rendered by Flemming Funerals-Pageland.
William Fate Albright
PAGELAND - Mr. William Fate Albright, 18, of Pageland, South Carolina passed away on Saturday, November 25, 2017.
Will was born on January 10, 1999 in Lancaster, South Carolina to Billy Albright and Tina Hendrix. Will loved spending time with his family, especially his son, Layne to which he was a wonderful father to. He was devoted to his son and fiancé, Amber. In his free time, Will enjoyed riding motorcycles and dirt bikes, as well as, playing guitar. He really loved music and was quite the talented musician. Will was also a proud employee of Connectivity in Concord, North Carolina. Will is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Tommy Hendrix.
Those left to celebrate and remember his life include his loving father and step-mother, Billy Albright (Hollie Hadac) of Pageland, South Carolina; mother, Tina Hendrix of Pageland, South Carolina; fiancé, Amber Rogers of Pageland, South Carolina; son, Layne Fate Albright of Pageland, South Carolina; brother, Mason McKnight of Pageland, South Carolina; sister, Madeline McKnight of Pageland, South Carolina; Paternal Grandparents, J.D. and Mildred Albright, and Maternal Grandmother, Margie Hendrix.
A Celebration of Life Funeral Service was held at 3:00 PM on Friday, December 1, 2017 at Providence Baptist Church with Dr. Roger Wall officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Ernest Randolph Eskridge
CHERAW - Mr. Ernest Randolph Eskridge, age 94, entered into rest on Friday, November 24, 2017. A Celebration of Life Service was held at 2:00 PM Thursday, November 30, 2017 at Faith Presbyterian Church by Pastor Joe Arnold. The family greeted friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall.
Mr. Eskridge was born May 8, 1923 in Cheraw, SC a son of the late John Washington and Cora Clodfelter Eskridge. Following his graduation from Cheraw High School, Ernest moved to Washington, DC where he worked for the F.B.I. He then enlisted in the U.S. Navy and proudly served our country during World War II. Mr. Eskridge was a charter member of Faith Presbyterian Church and a sixty-year member of the American Legion Post 23 in Cheraw, SC. He was known as a true “handyman” who enjoyed tinkering and working on anything.
In addition to his parents, Ernest was also preceded in death by his beloved wife of 70 years, Emma Rae Hammond Eskridge; and 7 brothers and 3 sisters.
Survivors include his children, Nancy Eskridge Scoggins of Columbia, SC and Randy (Nancy) Eskridge of Mauldin, SC; grandchildren, Dixon (Lauren) Scoggins of Simpsonville, SC, and Matthew (Andrea) Eskridge of Baltimore, MD; great-grandchildren, Jack Elliott Eskridge and Ellery Scoggins; also numerous nieces and nephews.

Albert Lynn Rollings Sr.
JEFFERSON - Mr. Albert Lynn Rollings, Sr. (affectionately known by everyone as Honey), 82, of Jefferson, SC went to be with his Lord on Friday, December 1, 2017 while surrounded by his loving family.
Honey was born on July 21, 1935 to the late Richard (Rich) and Gertie Lynn Rollins. He loved his country and served faithfully in the Navy during the Korean War. Honey was a life-long resident of Jefferson and the owner of City Service Station (also known as “Honey’s”) for over sixty-two years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend who enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his family. Honey lived to help others, he never met a stranger, and he truly had a servant’s heart. He was a member of Jefferson First Baptist Church and Macedonia Lodge 239. He is preceded in death by his brother, Johnny Rollins, his sisters, June Rollins, Jane Rollins Sullivan and Joy Rollins Ingram, and his granddaughter, Sarah Ashley Rollings.
Honey is survived by his devoted wife of 29 years, Martha Timmons Rollings, his brother-in-law, Pete Ingram of Moultrie, GA, his three sons, Al Rollings (Jane), Todd Rollings (Kym), and Ritchie Rollings (Rachel), his three step-children, Charlie Benton, Teresa Rollins (Phil), and Craig Benton, thirteen grandchildren, Lynn Rollings (Krystal), Andrew Rollings (Laura), Anna Rollings, Joseph, John Ashley, Ella, Matthew and Paul Rollings, Lacey Lowery (Jason), Zane, Beau, and Victoria Rollins, and Travis Benton; and four great-grandsons, Gaige and Grayson Lowery, Seth Rollings and Kingston Jackson. Honey is also survived by many nieces and nephews who were all dear to his heart, especially his niece Susan Melton (Larry). Susan cared for him faithfully and he loved her like a daughter.
A Celebration of Life Funeral Service was held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, December 3, 2017 at Jefferson First Baptist Church with Pastor Rick Hunter officiating. Burial followed at Jefferson Town Cemetery.
The family received friends immediately following the committal service and other times at the home, 127 South Lee Street, Jefferson, South Carolina 29718.

Forrest ‘Buck’ White III
CHESTERFIELD - Major Forrest “Buck” White, III (SCNG Retired), age 51, entered into rest on Thursday, November 30, 2017. Funeral Services were held at 3:00 PM Sunday, December 3, 2017 at Chesterfield Baptist Church by Pastor Randy Bishop and Phillip Caulder, Jr. Burial with full military honors followed in the Chesterfield Cemetery officiated by Rev. Bobby Norris. The family received friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home.
Mr. White was born November 28, 1966 in Chesterfield, SC a son of Baxter Jr. and Bernadine Diggs White. He was a graduate of Chesterfield High School, class of 1985 and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Winthrop University. Mr. White was a retired member of the S.C. Army National Guard with 21 years of service. During that time, he was actively deployed serving in the Operation Iraqi Freedom in the U.S. Army. A decorated veteran, Major White was the recipient of the Bronze Star Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, the Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal, the National Defense Service Medal with Bronze Service Star, the War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the Armed Forces Reserve Medal. Major White served as the commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 11251 in Chesterfield, SC.
Buck was employed with Sandhill Telephone as a Central Office Installer with over 17 years of service and attended Chesterfield Baptist Church. Although his military career was a vital part of his life, Buck’s first priority was to his family. Being a loving and supporting dad to his daughters was his true passion. From each sporting event to each dance recital, he was always there.
Mr. White was preceded in death by his brother, David C. White, and 1 niece, Huntley Sophia White.
Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Leigh Ann White of the home; children, Ashtan White and Krystan White; parents, Baxter Jr. and Bernadine White; 1 brother, Dennis White all of Chesterfield, SC; 1 sister, Tami (Ricky) Grice of Cheraw, SC; nephews, Brad, Emerson, and Carlyle; nieces, Amber and Abi Gail.
All active and retired military personnel and Buck’s extended family at Sandhill telephone are asked to serve as honorary pallbearers.

CHESTERFIELD - Mr. Caston Adams, age 95, entered into rest on Saturday, November 25, 2017. Funeral Services were announced on Monday.
Mr. Adams was born April 14, 1922 in Chesterfield, SC a son of the late Earl May and Minnie Hancock Adams. He was a World War II Army Veteran and a recipient of the World War II Victory Medal. A loving husband, father, and grandfather, Caston enjoyed spending time with his family. Mr. Adams was a life-long farmer who enjoyed being outdoors working and building.
In addition to his parents, Caston was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ruth White Adams; brothers, Wesley Adams, El Reso Adams, Gardner Adams, and Julious Adams; sister, Bobbie Jean Baker.
Survivors include his daughter, Helen (Tony) Stroud of Chesterfield, SC; 2 grandchildren, Leigh Ann (“Buck”) White of Chesterfield, SC, Suzie (Chris) Kilian of Greenville, SC; grandchildren, Krystan White, Ashtan White, Katie Kilian, Kelly Kilian, and Christopher Kilian; brother, Nolan Adams of Hartsville, SC; also numerous nieces and nephews.

Rayford L. ‘Buddy’ Burr
CHESTERFIELD - Mr. Rayford L. “Buddy” Burr, age 67, entered into rest on Saturday, November 25, 2017. Funeral Services were held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, November 28, 2017 from the Chapel of Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home by Rev. Rick Henderson and Phillip Caulder, Jr. with burial following in the Friendship United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family received friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Monday, November 27, 2017 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home.
Mr. Burr was born October 6, 1950 in Chesterfield, SC a son of the late Judson Lee and Nellie Caulder Burr. He was the overseer for Riverwood Farms for over 30 years and a member of Cross Roads Baptist Church. An avid outdoorsman, Buddy enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and spending time with his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Burr was also preceded in death by 1 son, Bobby Ray Burr; brother, Danny Ray Burr; and 5 sisters, Christine Holly, Irene Rhynes, Betsy Evans, Elizabeth Gulledge, and Peggy Simms.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Vernitta S. Burr of the home; son, Justin Burr of Chesterfield, SC; brother, Sonny Burr of Mt. Croghan, SC; also numerous nieces and nephews.
