CLIO - Charles F. Hatcher, 74, died Thursday, November 2, 2017. Born in Marlboro County he was a son of the late Foster Hatcher and Gladys Sweatt Hatcher. He was retired from Delta Mills.

Surviving is his wife, Evelyn Hatcher of Clio, SC, daughters, Joy Hatcher of Wallace, SC, Debra (Jimmy) H. English of Wallace, SC, Cheryl Smith of Clio, SC, a son, Michael Hatcher of Wallace, SC, sisters Cathy (Junior) Craven of Wallace, SC, Sandra (Greg) Lisenby of Bennettsville, SC, 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents listed above, his first wife, Sharron S. Hatcher, a son, Charles Christopher Hatcher, a brother, Mitchell Hatcher and a sister, Dorothy Boatwright.

The family received friends 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Saturday, November 4, 2017 at Kiser Funeral Home, Cheraw, SC.

A funeral service was held at 4:00 PM, Sunday, November 5, 2017 at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, Wallace, SC. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Dorothy Mae Jefferson Jackson

CHARLOTTE, N.C., Formerly of Chesterfield - Dorothy Mae Jefferson Jackson, 84, died on Tuesday, October 31, 2017. Funeral services were held on Monday, November 6, 2017 at 1pm from the Shiloh Institutional Baptist Church, Charlotte, NC. Burial followed in the Forest Lawn West Cemetery, Charlotte, NC. She was born May 27, 1933 to the late Collin and Sarah Bittle Jefferson. Survivors: two sons, Franklin Leon Jackson (Sharon) of Charlotte, NC and Johnny Jefferson (Deborah), both of Charlotte, NC; five grandchildren, Leon Jackson, Latoya Davis, Lashan Steele, Rashad Thompson, all of Charlotte, NC and Porcher Jackson of Norfolk, VA; a brother, Sanka Jefferson (Mamie) of Charlotte, NC. Services were rendered by Flemming Funerals-Pageland. .

Aquilla M. “Quilly” Kinard Jr.

CHESTERFIELD - Mr. Aquilla M. “Quilly” Kinard, Jr., age 54, entered into rest on Sunday, October 29, 2017. Funeral Services were held at 3:00 PM Thursday, November 2, 2017, from the Chapel of Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home by Pastor Bobby Morton and Brent Taylor with burial following in the Westfield Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family received friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Wednesday, November 1, 2017, at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home.

Mr. Kinard was born December 5, 1962, in Bennettsville, SC, a son of Gladys Quick Kinard and the late Aquilla M. Kinard, Sr. He was the former owner and operator of Quilly’s Auction and was currently employed as an auctioneer with M & M Auction of Jefferson. A true family man who enjoyed horses and the farm life, Quilly will be remembered for his larger than life personality.

Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Judith “Sue” Kinard of the home; son, Aquilla M. “Will” Kinard, III of Chesterfield, SC; 3 daughters, Courtney B. Kinard of Chesterfield, SC, Kody (Matt) Lisenby of Ruby, SC, and Tonie (Robert) Rivers of Chesterfield, SC; mother, Gladys Kinard of Bennettsville, SC; grandchildren, William Lisenby, Ethan Lisenby, Khloe Rivers; brother, Bern (Kim) Kinard of Lakeland, FL; sister, Leslie “Cissy” (Tim) LaBean of Bennettsville, SC.

CHESTERFIELD - Willie Mae “Redd” Cash Melton, 79, died on Tuesday, October 31, 2017. Funeral services were held on Sunday, November 5, 2017 at 3PM from the Galilee A.M.E. Zion Church, McFarlan, NC. Burial followed in the Church Cemetery. She was born May 2, 1938 to the late Bennie and Blanche Rollins Cash in Chesterfield, SC. Survivors: her children, Elaine Little, Bernice Harrell, both of Charlotte, NC, Blanche Chapman, Brenda Melton (Nelson Finlayson), Linda McManus, both of Chesterfield, SC, Earl Melton (Loranda) Columbia, SC, Timothy Melton, Stone Mountain, GA, Bobby Melton, Pageland, SC and Jermaine Melton, Cheraw, SC; two sisters, Lillian McCoy, Cheraw, SC and Carolyn Watson, Bronx, NY; two brothers, Wiley Cash, Clio, SC and Alonzo Cash, Cheraw, SC; 20 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Services were rendered by Flemming Funerals-Chesterfield. .

Charlene Miller

Lansing, Mich., formerly Chesterfield - Charlene Miller, 46, died on Sunday, October 22, 2017. Funeral services were held on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 11AM from the St. James A.M.E. Zion Church, Chesterfield, SC. Burial followed in the Church Cemetery. She was born January 21, 1971 in Chesterfield County, SC to Mary Rose Watson Bittle and the late Lonnie Miller, Sr. Survivors: three daughters, Cheyenne Holmes (Aaron), India Jones and Victoria Henry all of Lansing, MI; two grandchildren, Jordan Holmes and Aaron Holmes, Jr., both of Lansing, MI; her mother, Mary Rose Bittle, Chesterfield, SC; four brothers, Lonnie Miller, Jr., Chesterfield, SC, Eldred Miller, Larry Miller, Jr. and Dennis Bernard Miller (Diane), all of Charlotte, NC; five sisters, Lonnette Cox, Brooklyn, NY, Patricia Miller, Huntersville, NC, Mary Barringer (Samuel), Charlotte, NC, Sadie Miller, Chesterfield, SC and Earlene Miller, Concord, NC. Services were rendered by Flemming Funerals-Chesterfield. .

Gloria Wilkinson Overstreet

Gloria Wilkinson Overstreet, 89, widow of Earl Overstreet, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 25, 2017.

Mrs. Overstreet was born in Thomasville, AL, to the late Richard William Wilkinson and Jeffie Mae Morgan Wilkinson. With Earl, she relocated to Simpsonville in 1968. She retired as the owner and operator of Hearts & Flowers Interiors and was a member of Simpsonville First Baptist Church. Gloria enjoyed golfing, playing bridge, cooking and baking. Because of her business and personal tastes, she was a shopper who had a keen eye for style and value. She could spot a deal, but she most certainly enjoyed the hunt as well.

Surviving are a son, Rickey Overstreet and wife Miriam; a daughter, Judy White and husband Vernon; two grandchildren, David White and wife Luisa, and Sara Grace Byers and husband Jason; two great-granddaughters, Miranda and McKenzie White; a dear nephew; Jeff Gibson; and a dear niece, Cindy Spillers. She was predeceased by two brothers, Richard and Billy Wilkinson; and three sisters, Louise Gibson, Dorothy Nell Coate, and May “Dig” Parker.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Chapel of Simpsonville First Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Steve Genoble. The family received friends immediately following the service. Burial was in Cannon Memorial Park.

Patricia ‘Pat’ Brooks Quick

WALLACE - Patricia “Pat” Brooks Quick, 73, died Saturday, November 4, 2017. Born in Marlboro County she was the daughter of the late Oliver James and Frances Jacobs Brooks. She was a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church, Wallace, SC. Ms. Quick was voted best dressed by her high school class (Wallace High 1963). She had been a loving daycare teacher at First United Methodist Church Day Care Center for 30 years. Through the years she has invested in the community by helping to shape young lives and by teaching values that instill a lifetime of learning and giving. She loved spending time with her family and was a devoted caretaker for her mother. She enjoyed romantic comedies and visiting the mountains.

Surviving are her sons, Michael Irvin Quick and his wife Minnie Quick of Clayton, NC, James Edward Quick and his wife Dr. Angela Quick of Willow Springs, NC, William Terry Quick of Cheraw, SC, seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Monday, November 6, 2017 at Kiser Funeral Home, Cheraw, SC.

A funeral service was held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at Oak Grove United Methodist Church, Wallace, SC. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Elizabeth ‘Lib’ James Wallace

CHESTERFIELD - Mrs. Elizabeth “Lib” James Wallace, age 78, entered into rest on Friday, November 3, 2017. Funeral Services were held at 1:00 PM Monday, November 6, 2017, from the Chapel of Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home by Pastor Fred McDaniel and Brent Taylor with burial following in the Shiloh United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family greeted friends from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM Monday, prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Wallace was born June 5, 1939 in Chesterfield, SC a daughter of the late Henry Phillip and Donar McLain James. She was a retired employee of Delta Mills and a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church. Lib enjoyed cooking, quilting, gardening and sharing her vegetables with neighbors and friends. She will be remembered as a devoted and loving mother to Robin.

In addition to her parents, Lib was also preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Wallace; daughter, Robin Wallace; brothers, Julian James and William James; sisters, Madge King, Clara Wallace, Leatha Freeman, Margaret Moore, Jennie Hancock, Katherine Horne, and Nellie James.

Survivors include her brother, Jadie James of Chesterfield, SC; also numerous nieces and nephews, and great nieces and great nephews.

Lydia Kirven Winburn

PATRICK - Funeral services for Mrs. Lydia Kirven Winburn, 100, who died peacefully on Thursday, November 2, 2017, were held at 4 o'clock on Sunday, November 5, 2017, in Cedar Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Jeff Williams and The Rev. Bob Thomas officiated with burial following in the church cemetery. The family received friends from 5:00 until 7:00 PM on Saturday, November 4, 2017, at Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Cedar Creek Baptist Church, 1635 Cedar Creek Road, Hartsville, SC 29550. Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home is serving the family.

Mrs. Winburn, the widow of Lewis Winburn, was born in Chesterfield County, SC. She was a daughter of the late Robert Lee Kirven and Bertha Cassidy Kirven. Her life revolved around her faith in God, her church, her family, and her loving friends. She was a prayer warrior, a tremendous caregiver, and will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her son, The Rev. Dr. Ernest (Brenda) Winburn of Hartsville, SC; daughters, Elma Cranford of Hartsville, SC, Bernice Winburn of Patrick, SC; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sons, Henry Lee (Barbara) Winburn, James Earl (Betty Lou) Winburn; sisters, Mary Smith, Isabelle Teal; grandson, Henry Lee "Hank" Winburn, Jr.

Katie Lee Jordan Atkinson

CHESTERFIELD - Mrs. Katie Lee Jordan Atkinson, age 78 passed away peacefully on Tuesday October 24, 2017 at Richmond County Hospice Haven in Rockingham, NC.

Mrs. Atkinson was born September 25, 1939 in Chesterfield County, SC. to the late Clarence and Mamie Jordan. Mrs. Atkinson retired after 38 years of dedicated service at Hyland Industries in Cheraw, SC. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, crossword puzzles but most of all enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Surviving are her two sons, Ronnie Crowley of Cheraw, SC; and Chucky Crowley & wife Ellen of Chesterfield, SC; A daughter, Violet & husband Curtis Sellers of Chesterfield, SC; Two sisters, Bonnie & husband Johnny Lindsey of Mt. Croghan, SC., Emma Jean Melton of Pageland, SC; One brother, Gurney Jordan of Pageland, SC; A sister-in-law, Francis Ross of Blythewood, SC; eight grandchildren; 11 great - grandchildren and 1 great – great - grandchild.

Mrs. Atkinson is preceded in death by her parents listed above; husband, Mack Atkinson; daughter, Debbie Gregory; and a son, Stevie Crowley; daughter – in - law Annette Crowley; and a granddaughter Angel Crowley; three brothers, Perry Jordan, Burtis Jordan and Beecher Jordan; two sisters, Onie Mae Jenkins and Gertrude Plyler.

A graveside service was held on Friday October 27, 2017 at 1:00 PM. Burial tok place at Drake-Dudley cemetery in Blenheim, SC.

Emma Jean Davis Berry

CHERAW - Emma Jean Davis Berry, 84, died Tuesday, October 24, 2017. Born in Cheraw, SC she was a daughter of the late John Carrol and Blanche Ella Brock Davis. She was the widow of Jim Berry. She was a member of Cheraw First Baptist Church, Henrietta Isgett SS Class and the WMU. She enjoyed crafts, cake decorating, sewing, gardening and attending Senior Circle.

Surviving are her sons, Dwain (Mary) Berry of Cheraw, SC, Kerry (Michele Summerlin) Berry of Chesterfield, SC, grandchildren, Darit Berry, Terri (Jeremy) Keller, Kaitlin Berry, Emily Berry, Devin Berry and 5 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband listed above, also, a son John Anthony Berry, a sister, Johnsie Gaithings, and a grandchild, Pam Ashcraft.

The family received friends 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Thursday, October 26, 2017 at Kiser Funeral Home, Cheraw, SC.

A funeral service was held 10:00 am, Friday, October 27, 2017 at Kiser Funeral Home, Cheraw, SC. Burial was Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens.

Patricia McManus Bradley

GARDEN CITY BEACH - Ms. Patricia McManus Bradley, age 77, of Garden City Beach, SC (formerly of Pageland, SC) entered into rest on Saturday, October 21, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. A Celebration of Patricia's life was held at 3:00 PM Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at First Baptist Church of Pageland, SC (203 Pigg Street, Pageland, SC 29728) by Dr. Joel Dale with a reception following in the church fellowship hall. The family greeted friends from 2:00 - 3:00 PM Wednesday, prior to the service in the sanctuary of the church.

Ms. Bradley was born October 26, 1939 in Pageland, SC, a daughter of the late, James Monroe McManus Sr. and Almetta Stogner McManus. A 1957 graduate of Pageland High School, Patricia was a member of the district championship basketball team. She was also a founding member of the White Plains Country Club where she enjoyed playing golf in her younger years. She was an avid North Carolina Tarheels basketball fan. A member of First Baptist Church of Pageland, Ms. Bradley was the receptionist for Dr. DC Griggs and later Dr. BC Blakeney serving the Pageland community for many years before spending her latter years as an Orthopedic Medical Transcriptionist until her retirement. Following her retirement, Patricia enjoyed spending time at the beach, shag dancing, and listening to Elvis music. Her greatest love was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Recently, she was able to attend her Pageland High School class reunion escorted by her son-in-law, Marty Parker.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by one brother, James Monroe McManus, Jr. and three sisters, Mildred M. Faile, Betty M. Deese and Ella Ruth McManus.

Survivors include her son, Jimmy Threatt and his wife Leigh of Pickens, SC; one daughter, Patti Plyler and her husband Marty Parker of Myrtle Beach; five grandchildren, Jerica (Trent) Usher, Jantzen Plyler, Jodi (Brandon Pate) Plyer, Luke Threatt and Olivia Threatt and two great grandsons, Major and Captain Usher.

The family requests that memorials contributions in Patricia’s name be made to First Baptist Church of Pageland, 203 Pigg St, Pageland, SC 29728 or to Central School High School Touchdown Club, 200 Zion Church Rd., Pageland, SC 29728

Ronnie Edward Dutton

CHESTERFIELD - Mr. Ronnie Edward Dutton, age 71, entered into rest on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at his home. Funeral Services were held at 4:00 PM Monday, October 30, 2017 at Friendship United Methodist Church by Rev. Sonny Hall and Rev. Jerry McManus with burial following in the church cemetery. The family received friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Sunday, October 29, 2017 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home.

Mr. Dutton was born May 2, 1946 in Mt. Croghan, SC a son of the late Woodrow Wilson Dutton and Lucy Catherine Rivers Dutton. He was a former employee of Buck’s Upholstery prior to opening Dutton’s Upholstery. Following his retirement from the upholstery business, Ronnie worked with the Chesterfield County Department of Social Services. He was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church. Mr. Dutton enjoyed shooting pool, working in his shop, and being outdoors. His greatest passion was time spent with his family, especially his great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Ronnie was also preceded in death by a brother, Hugh Douglas Dutton.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Dean Dutton of the home; 2 daughters, Amy (Randy) Yow, and Pam Dutton (Barry) Adams both of Chesterfield, SC; 4 grandchildren, Deanna (Chris) Yow-Dixon, Amber Yow, Erin White, and Rebecca White all of Chesterfield, SC; 4 great-grandchildren, Shayleee, Anthony “Bay”, Jordan, and Gracie; brothers, Harry (Pat) Dutton of Ruby, SC, James Thomas “J.T.” (Linda) Dutton of Mt. Croghan, SC, Tommy Graylon (Juanita) Dutton of Cheraw, SC, and Mitchell Woodie (Cynthia) Dutton of Wadesboro, NC; sisters, Barbara Ann McClamrock of Pageland, SC, Irma Rivers of Jefferson, SC, and Cathy Faulkenberry of Pageland, SC; also numerous nieces and nephews.
