Francis Guy Smoak -- Denmark

Francis Guy "Snookie" Smoak, 74, of Denmark, died Monday, Dec. 29, 2003, at his home.

Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 31, at First Baptist Church, Denmark, with the Rev. Andy Hunter officiating. Burial will be in Bamberg Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Tommy Spell, Tim Smoak, Jody Reeves, Don Smith, Mike Brunson and Charles Breland. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Coed Sunday School Class.

Mr. Smoak was born Dec. 22, 1929, in Bamberg, a son of the late Connor William and Ebbie Dell Goodwin Smoak. He was a graduate of Bamberg High School and was a retired postal employee and member of First Baptist Church, Denmark, where he served as a deacon and in various positions in Sunday School. He was past president of the Denmark Jaycees, Denmark Lions Club, Denmark Country Club, co-chairman of Denmark charities, and a member of the original race relations council. Mr. Smoak was a mason and a shriner and a long time member of the S.C. National Guard. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Survivors include his wife, Millie Lundy Smoak, of Denmark; daughter and son-in-law, Millicent Peeler and Bobby Peeler, of Edgefield; granddaughters, Kara Peeler and Marie Peeler, of Edgefield; a sister, Willie Dell Rabun, of Charleston; a brother, J.C. Smoak, of Laurens; nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday at Mercer Funeral Home of Denmark.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, PO Box 325, Denmark SC 29042.

George D. Ulmer -- Orangeburg

Funeral services for George D. Ulmer, will be at 1p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2003, at Northside Baptist Church in Orangeburg. Burial will be at 3 p.m., in Tabor Methodist Church Cemetery in Walterboro, directed by Thompson Funeral Home, Orangeburg.

Mrs. Parnice A. Mizell -- Harleyville

Mrs. Parnice A. Mizell, 77 of EastMain St., Harleyville, died Sunday, December 28, 2003, in Oakbrook Health and Rehabilitation Center in Summerville.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m.Thursday, Jan. 1, in Bethel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bob Lee officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Mizell was born November 2, 1926, in Ridgeville, a daughter of the late William T. Hilton and Eliza Ann Atkins Hilton. A graduate of RidgevilleHigh School, she made wedding cakes and other cakes in her home and was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church where she was a choir member and pianist. She was the widow of Wesley Kermit Mizell Sr. and was predeceased by her son, W. Kermit Mizell Jr.

Survivors include a son, John Harold (Hal) Mizell and his wife Karen, of Ladson; grandchildren, Casey M. Bober, and her husband Chris, of Irmo, Matthew K. Mizell, Columbia, Amanda M. Childers, and her husband Thomas, and John Wesley Mizell, all of Harleyville; great-grandchildren, Damien Andrew Mizell, Hannah Bober, Logan Bober and Ryan Childers; brother, Gene Hilton, of Hanahan; three sisters, Margie Dantzler, Harleyville, Eara Bell Rumph and Grace Clark, both of Ridgeville.

Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m.Wednesday evening at Bryant Funeral Home in St. George.

Memorials may be made to Bethel United Methodist Church, in care of U.Z. Baxley, 987 Second Bend Road, Harleyville SC 29448.

Mother Gussie Jackson Johnson -- North

Funeral services for Mother Gussie Johnson, will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2003, at Flora Branch Baptist Church in North. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mother Johnson died Friday, Dec. 26, at Lexington Medical Center, Lexington.

She was a member of Flora Branch Baptist Church, North, where she served as the Mother of the church, president of the Senior Choir Ministry, treasurer of Sunday School department and chairperson of the Deaconess Ministry.

Survivors include two daughters, Belvia Johnson and Bernice Johnson, both of North; one son, McDonald Johnson (Patricia), of North; two sisters, Monteine Tyler and Pauline Baxter, both of North; one brother, William Jerry Berry (Gladys), of Hope Mill, N.C.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m., Tuesday at Jackson's Memorial Chapel, Neeses. Friends may call at the home on 182 Iva Road, North, and at the funeral home.

Melanie Paige Geddings -- Bamberg

Funeral services for Melanie Paige Geddings, 36, of 178 Elizabeth St., Bamberg, will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2003, at Cooner Funeral Home Chapel, Bamberg, with the Rev. Donnie Delk officiating. Burial to follow will be private in Bamberg County Memory Gardens.

Ms. Geddings died Sunday, Dec. 28, in Bamberg County Hospital after an extended illness.

Ms. Geddings was born May 30, 1967, in Sumter. She graduated from Bamberg-Ehrhardt High School in 1985 and was a graduate of Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College. She was former adminstrative secretary at Bamberg County Hospital.

Survivors include her parents, Wilbur Lee Geddings and Virginia Copeland Geddings; ex-husband, Harrison Cooke, of Smoaks; two sons, Caleb and Tanner Cooke, of Bamberg; two sisters, Amanda Geddings, of Bamberg and Carla (Brian) Geddings Bowers, of Bamberg; one niece; one nephew; maternal grandmother, Mrs. Anna Geddings, of Sumter.

There will be no visitation. Family will receive friends at the home, 178 Elizabeth St., Bamberg.

Memorials may be made to Bamberg County Nursing Center "Activity Fund", 509 North St., Bamberg SC 29003

Mrs. Frankie T. Fulmer -- St. George

Mrs. Frankie T. Fulmer, 61 of 3250 Wire Road, St. George, died Sunday December 28, 2003, in Roper Hospital, Charleston.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m.Wednesday, Dec. 31, in the St. Matthews Baptist Church with the Rev. Tim Futrell officiating. Burial will follow in the St. George Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be members of Walterboro City Fire Department. Honorary pallbearers will be Mayor, Council Members, and employees of City of Walterboro.

Mrs. Fulmer was born May 30, 1942, in Charleston, a daughter of David Frank Thompson and Helen Cockcroft Thompson. She was a graduate of Chicora High School and Conedy Business School. She was Personnel Director for the City of Walterboro and a member of St. Matthews Baptist Church where she was Director of Sunday School, and Adult II Teacher .

Surviving include a son, C. Lawson Fulmer Jr. and his wife, Kay ; daughter, Amy F. Hardeeand her husband Larry; grandchildren, Kerri Fulmer, Ed Fulmer, Emily Hardeeand Shelby Hardee, all of St. George; sister, Judith T. De Long, San Antonio, Texas; nephew, Jay DeLong, St. George, and niece, Ceryl D. King, Charleston.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m.Tuesday at Bryant Funeral Home of St. George.

Howard 'Poo' Frazier -- St. George

Howard "Poo" Frazier of St. George, died Saturday, Dec. 27, 2003, at his residence. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30, at Good Hope Baptist Church, St. George.

Survivors include one grandson, Howard Jamual Frazier, of Columbia; one great-grandson, Howard Jamual Frazier Jr., of Columbia; one sister, Lillie Ruth (Dollie) Frazier, of St. George.

Brown & Son Funeral Home of St. George is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Dorothy Felder Clark -- Orangeburg

Mrs. Dorothy Felder Clark, 74, of 886 Bleakley St., died Monday, Dec. 29, 2003, at the residence of her daughter, Ms. Janice Clark, following an extended a brief illness.

Funeral plans will be announced by Bethea's Funeral Home of Orangeburg.

Friends may call at the residence of her daughter, Ms. Janice Clark, 1755 B St., Marshall Apts. and at the funeral home.

Lonnie P. Frye -- Orangeburg

Funeral Services for Lonnie P. Frye, 72, of 3237 Hillcrest Lane, will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2003, at New Hope Baptist Church, Orangeburg, with the Rev. Anthony Hughes officiating. Burial will be in Crestlawn Memorial Gardens in Orangeburg.

Mrs. Parnice A. Mizell -- Harleyville

Mrs. Parnice A. Mizell, 77 of EastMain St., Harleyville, died Sunday, December 28, 2003, in Oakbrook Health and Rehabilitation Center in Summerville.

Willie 'Doc' Robinson -- Orangeburg

Funeral services for Willie "Doc" Robinson, 82, of 755 Whitman St., will be at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2003, at Cedar Grove United Methodist Church, Orangeburg, with the Rev. Kay Best Adams officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Active pallbearers will be friends of the family.

Mrs. Rosa 'Tootsie' Williams -- Santee

Funeral services for Mrs. Rosa "Tootsie" Williams will be at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2003, at Oak Grove Baptist Church, Santee, with the Rev. S. T. Nelson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mable G. Oswalt (Smith)
July 28, 1935 ~ June 26, 2016 (age 80)

ELLOREE - Mrs. Mable Oswalt, 80, wife of Wilmer J. Oswalt, passed away, Sunday, June 26, 2016 at her home.

A memorial service will be 7:30 PM Wednesday, June 29th at Fellowship Baptist Church, 886 Pickett Level Road, Elloree.

Mable was born in Middlesboro, KY, a daughter of the late Harve Smith and Eva England Smith. She was retired from the Excel Company and was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church.

Surviving are her husband of Elloree; a son, Al Oswalt (Birdie) of Bristol, IN; sisters, Wilma Prater of Shelby Township, MI, Barbara Barnett of Niles, MI, and Charlotte (Bill) Long of Elkhart, IN; granddaughters, Jenny Oswalt, Julie Thompson, Amy Andrews, and Tasha Oswalt; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Avinger Funeral Home of Holly Hill is assisting the family.
