Michael Glenn Infinger, 43, of Dorchester, died suddenly Saturday, March 18, 2006, at Trident Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 21, in the Bryant Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Philip Watry officiating. Burial will follow in the Indian Field United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Infinger was born January 25, 1963, in Walterboro, a son of Ronald G. Infinger and Fayetta Mizell Kizer. He was a heavy equipment operator for Holly Hill Excavating.
Survivors include his mother, Fayetta Mizell Kizer, of St. George; his father, Ronald Infinger, of Columbia; brother, Tony (Jaime) Infinger, of Round O; sisters, Roberta Infinger (Terry) Ott, of Orangeburg, and Pamela Kizer (Curtis) Cabana, of Summerville; nieces and nephews, Kevin Cabana, Anna and Clayton Ott, Tiffany and Jodie Infinger; special friend, Ellen Demoske, of Harleyville.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Bryant Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Indian Field United Methodist Church, 2030 Highway 15 North, St. George, SC 29477.
Bryant Funeral Home of St. George is in charge of arrangements.
Robert D. ’Pop’ Oliver -- Orangeburg
Robert D. “Pop” Oliver, 90, formerly of Gilbert, died Thursday, March 16, 2006.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 19, at First Baptist Church of Gilbert with the Rev. Ellis Addy and the Rev. Ken Jumper officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Chris Tindall, Dexter, David and Wendell Durst, Jon, Michael and Robert Miller and John Strickland.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mr. Freddie Williams#,'s employees of Orangeburg Adult Daycare.
Mr. Oliver was born in Lafayette, Ga. to the late William P. and Zora King Oliver. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Gilbert. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was married to the late Ruby D. Oliver. He was a retired mill worker with Burlington Mills. He was predeceased by a son, Randy Oliver; grandson, Jerry Lawrence; and granddaughter, Charlene Dewitt.
Surviving are his sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry Oliver and wife, Debbie, of Lexington; Lynn Oliver and wife, Buffy, of Swansea; daughters and sons-in-law, Linda Dewitt and husband, Charles, of Orangeburg; Gail Miller and husband, Butler, of Gilbert; Janice Kemmerlin and husband, Joe, of Orangeburg; Glenda Ryder and husband, Quinton, of Roanoke Rapids, N.C.; sister, Mae Thomas of Rome, Ga.; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; special caregiver, Carolyn Tyler.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday at Milton Shealy Funeral Home, other times at the home of his daughter, Gail Miller in Gilbert.
A visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 23, at the home of Charles and Linda Dewitt, 261 Warley Road, Orangeburg.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Hospice of TRMC of Orangeburg, S.C. Alzheimer#,'s Association and Charlene Dewitt “Remember Me” Foundation, P.O. Box 1784, Orangeburg, SC 29116.
The family would like to thank Orangeburg Adult Daycare, Hospice of TRMC, Dr. Weigle and Ginger, Dr. Castro and Associates, and Community Long Term Care of Orangeburg County for all the love and caring shown to Mr. Robert and his family during his six years stay in Orangeburg.

Colonel Patricia Ann Simmons Abraham -- Summerville
Funeral services for Colonel Patricia Ann Simmons Abraham, 55, of 414 Patridge Circle, Summerville, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 20, 2006, at Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church, North Charleston with the Rev. Dr. Augustus D. Robinson Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Belleville Memorial Gardens.
The casket will be placed in the church at 9 a.m.
Colonel Abraham died Monday, March 13, at Ralph H. Johnson Veteran Administration Medical Center in Charleston following an extended illness.
The daughter of Eugene and Vertelle Houser-Simmons, she was born August 27, 1950 in Brooklyn, N.Y.
She graduated from Suey Park High School in Brooklyn, N.Y. and continued her education at South Carolina State College where she earned a B.S. degree in Biology (Cum Laude) in 1976. She did further study at Columbia University Teacher’s College where she received a M.S. degree in science education in 1984. In 1996 she graduated from the United States Army Command and General Staff College. She was honored as a Distinguished Alumni of South Carolina State University at the twenty-sixth National Conference on Blacks in Higher Education in 2001.
As a youth, Patricia joined Memorial Baptist Church in Brooklyn, N.Y. and remained a devoted member until she moved to Orangeburg and affiliated with Mount Pisgah Baptist Church where she was united in marriage to John Abraham in 1986. To this union a son was born, Jayson Eugene. Upon moving to Summerville, she joined Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church in North Charleston. She was an active member and served faithfully as long as her health permitted. She worked tirelessly with the youth of the church as an advisor and assistant Scout Master of Troop 469. She also served as chairman of the Eagle Scout Board of Charleston County.
Patricia was commissioned in the U.S. Army in 1976 as a Second Lieutenant. She gave over 29 years military and federal service until her retirement in 2005. Her distinguished military career was marked by many first: member of the first class of female ROTC cadets at SCSU (1976), first black and first female to assume command of the One Hundred Eighty-Second U.S. Army Transportation Battalion at the Naval Weapons Station Annex, U.S. Army Reserve Center in North Charleston (2000); and the first female to be appointed Harbor Master at Port Damman Kingdom, Saudi Arabia.
Colonel Abraham was employed as a civilian training officer at Charleston Military Airforce Base.
She received numerous awards and was recognized for many noteworthy accomplishments which included: the Joint Service Commendation Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (I-OLC), Meritorious Unit Commendation, Army Superior Unit Award, Army Achievement Medal (2-OLC), National Defense Service Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal (with one Bronze Service Star), Armed Forces Reserve Medal (with hourglass device), Army Service Ribbon (2), Army Component Overseas Training Ribbon, and the Kuwait Liberation Medal. In 1998 she was awarded the IMA Reservist of the Year and was inducted into the SCSU ROTC Hall of Fame on Oct. 27, 2005.
Patricia was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, and sister. All who knew her can attest to her unrelenting drive and willingness to accept any challenge. In addition to her love of the military, she loved her family, friends and South Carolina State University.
Survivors include her husband, John A. Abraham; son, Jayson; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene (Vertelle) Simmons, all of Summerville; a stepdaughter, Sharon Abraham, of Bronx, N.Y.; a brother, Eugene (Marilyn) Simmons, of Bloomfield, N.J.; three grandaunts, Mrs. Virginia Houser McDonald, Mrs. Hattie Mae Keitt and Mrs. Lillie Mae Haigler, all of Orangeburg; five aunts, Mrs. Ruby Mae Keitt, of Bowman, Mrs. Willie Mae Holmes and Mrs. Amanda Reed, of Central Islip, N.Y., Mrs. Emma Lou Jones, of Queens, N.Y. and Mrs. Louise Matthews, of Brooklyn, N.Y.; five uncles, Willie Lee (Stella) Haynes, of Queens, N.Y., Booker T. Haynes of Central Islip, N.Y., John Houser, Alton Houser and Henry Houser, all of Bowman; four brothers-in-law, Edward (Catherine) Abraham of Teaneck, N.Y., Nathaniel Abraham, of Columbia, Ben (Bonnie) Abraham, of Orangeburg, Lowman Abraham, of Bowman; four sisters-in-law, Mrs. Dorothy A. Jones, of Stratford, Conn., Mrs. Naomi A. Melvin, of Hamden, Conn., Mrs. Neola A. Wood, of Bridgeport, Conn. and Mrs. Mary A. (Samuel O.) Thompson, of Orangeburg; a very close and special family friend, Mrs. Llayne Jones, of Orangeburg; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mary Gilyard -- St. Matthews
Mary Gilyard of 601 Dantzler St., St. Matthews, died Saturday, March 18, 2006.
Funeral plans will be announced by Williams Funeral Home of Elloree.
Friends may call at the residence of Robert and Jennifer Jaques, 144 November Road, Santee, and at Williams Funeral Home of Elloree.
Eugene Haynes -- Cameron
Funeral services for Mr. Eugene Haynes, 73, of 52 Oakridge Circle, Cameron, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 19, 2006, at Jenkins Funeral Chapel, St. Matthews, with the Rev. Henry Capers officiating. Burial will be in Brown Chapel AME Cemetery, Cameron.
Mr. Haynes died Tuesday, March 14.
Viewing will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Jenkins Funeral Home, St. Matthews.
Friends may call at the residence of his daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Willie (Betty) Shuler, 534 Rosemont Drive, Orangeburg and at the funeral home.
Thomas Jennings -- Summerville
The last religious rites for Thomas Jennings will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 21, 2006, at Brownsville Community Church of God, with the Rev. Robert L. Toliver, Pastor, and the Rev. William Jones, Pastor of Bethel AME Church, Summerville, presiding.
Remains will lie in state until time of services. Interment New Hope AME Church, St. George.
His wife, Mrs. Portia Jennings; daughter, Ms. Xan Jennings, his parents, Mr. Walter and Mrs. Fannie Jennings; sisters, Mrs. Merline Myers (Lucius), Mrs. Perline Primus (Robert), Ms. Diretha Lincoln, Annette Blake (Harry), Mrs. Juanita Glover (Shawn) and Mrs. Jennifer Anderson (Arnold); his brothers, Mr. Edward Jennings, Mr. Stanford Jennings (Kathy) and Mr. Keith Jennings (Babette) request his nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends to attend with them these last rites.

Mrs. Carrie Ella Washington -- Holly Hill
Funeral services for Mrs. Carrie Ella Washington, of William Street, Holly Hill, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 18, 2006, at Greater Target AME Church, Holly Hill, with the Rev. Christopher Smith officiating. Burial will be in Target-Bethel Cemetery.
Mrs. Washington died Monday, March 13.
She was born January 15, 1925, to the late Joe and Pearly Williams. She attended Rosewald School of Holly Hill and graduated Valedictorian of her class. On May 26 she was united in holy matrimony to Jervey Washington Sr. At an early age, Sister Washington joined Target AME Church. She was a dedicated member of the Stewardess Board and the Angelic Choir. She was a willing worker for Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and to the community. To know her was to love her. She was a loving, kind and caring person. Sister Washington knew the power of prayer and was faithful in her belief.
Survivors include three sons, Jervey Jr. (Ozelia), Jimmy Lee (Lillie Ruth), Roy Allen (Yvonne) and one daughter, Joe-Ann (Sean) Freeman; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three brothers, Robert Lee (Florestine) Williams, Bobby (Mary) Williams and Larry (Mildred) Williams; two sisters, Juanita Brown and Mildred (Eddie) Tosete; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
