Harry L. ’Harry O’ Johnson -- Denmark

Funeral services for Mr. Harry L. “Harry O’ Johnson, 55, formerly of Denmark, will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 19, 2006 at St. John Baptist Church, Bamberg with the Rev. Carl Williams officiating.

Mr. Johnson died Tuesday, Nov. 14, at Trident Hospital after a brief illness.

He was born April 27, 1951, a son of the late Horace and Eva Johnson. He was educated in the public schools of Bamberg. He was a U.S. Army veteran, respectfully serving his country in the Vietnam War from 1968-1970.

Survivors include three daughters, Antwonisha Johnson and Angel (Robert) Jackson of Tampa, Fla. and Quinza (Brendan) Flodd of Iraq; one grandson, Mikhail Cullars of Iraq; 14 brothers, Solomon (Debbie) Johnson of Charlotte, Freddie (Willa) Johnson, John E. Johnson, Nathaniel Johnson, and Matthew Johnson, all of Bamberg, Willie James (Naomi) Johnson, McArthur Johnson, Richard C. (Lois), Walter Johnson, Ernest (Vicky) Johnson, and Albert Johnson, all of Columbia, Larry (Angela) Johnson of Norway, Christopher Scott of Orangeburg, and Walter Stokes of New York; nine sisters, Eula Mae Moore, Eva Mae Johnson, and Mamie R. Waldo, all of Columbia, Mary Carmichael of Orangeburg, Elizabeth Scott of Kingstree, Frances (Ben) Mack, Earnestine (Charles) Ross, Cynthia (Michael) Sapp, and Bethel Johnson, all of Bamberg; two aunts, Emma Wright of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Emma Johnson of Charlotte; one uncle, Frank Banks of Bamberg; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Viewing will be from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday at Johnson-Dash Funeral Home of Bamberg.

Friends may call at the residence of his brother, Freddie (Willa) Johnson, 12281 Heritage Highway, Bamberg and at the funeral home.

William "Billy" McDaniel
April 15, 1948 ~ July 2, 2016 (age 68)

RIDGEVILLE - William L. “Billy” McDaniel, 68, went to heaven on Saturday, July 2, 2016 after a brief illness.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at AVINGER FUNERAL HOME, 2274 Eutaw Rd., Holly Hill. Burial will immediately follow in the Holly Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. this Monday July 4, 2016 at the funeral home.

Billy was born in Dillon County, a son of the late William J. McDaniel and Ethel Lee Meekins McDaniel. He was a retired Engineer with Davis Electrical Contractors and a Methodist. Billy was a Mason, and a member of the Scottish Rite and Omar Shrine.

Surviving are his wife of 33 years, Peggy Owens McDaniel of Ridgeville; sons, William S. (Keisha) McDaniel of Graniteville, and Jeff (Angie) McDaniel of Greenwood; a brother, Steve (Wendy) McDaniel of Latta; grandchildren, Jensen, Jackson, Sabrina, and Ryan McDaniel, and Trey Copeland; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family would like to thank Hospice of Charleston for their care of Billy.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Hospice of Charleston, 4975 LaCross Road, Suite 200, North Charleston, SC 29406, or a charity of choice.

Charlie Clay Odom Sr. -- Denmark

Charlie Clay Odom Sr., 82, of 2326 Church Ave., Denmark, died Monday, Nov. 13, 2006, at Bamberg County Hospital.

Funeral services will be announced by the Denmark Chapel of Carroll Mortuary.

Friends may call at the home of his son, Charlie Clay Odom Jr., 77 James Wright St., Denmark.

Johnnie Wiley Jr., ORANGEBURG

Funeral services for Johnnie Wiley Jr., 46, of 541 Riggs St., Orangeburg, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, November 20, 2006, at Simmons Funeral Home Chapel, with Elder Isaac Dash officiating.

Mr. Wiley departed this life on Tuesday, November 14, at Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia.

He was born December 25, 1959, in Orangeburg, a son of the late Louise and James Dash. He was educated in the Orangeburg Public school system. He worked at Evans Wholesale for many years.

He leaves to cherish fond memories, three sisters, Margaret Dash of Columbia, Mary (Duffield) Rose of Columbia, and Christine Elaine Dash of Orangeburg; two brothers, James Lee Dash Jr. of Columbia and Willie James (Veronica) Dash of Orangeburg; one nephew raised in the home, Andre Dash of Orangeburg; caregiver, Romeo Almonds of Orangeburg; eight aunts, two uncles, host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Friends may call at the residence of his sister, Christine Dash, 707 Dantzler St., Orangeburg and Romeo Almonds, 541 Riggs St., Orangeburg or at Simmons Funeral Home of Orangeburg.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 19.

Simmons Funeral Home of Orangeburg is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Marie Simpson Russell -- Rowesville

Funeral services for Mrs. Marie Simpson Russell, 74, of 118 Oil Mill St., Rowesville, will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, November 14, 2006, at Central United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Albert Murdaugh and the Rev. Samuel Green Jr. officiating. Burial will be in the Peter Bowman Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be nephews and friends.

Mrs. Russell died Wednesday, Nov. 8, at her residence.

She was born September 16, 1932, in Orangeburg County, a daughter of the late Emmett Simpson Sr. and Rebecca Bowman Simpson. She was married to the late James Russell. She joined Central United Methodist Church at an early age. She was preceded in death by one sister, Lillie S. Williams; three brothers, Bunk, Tunkie and Louis Simpson.

Survivors include three brothers, Emmett Simpson Jr., of Rowesville, William Simpson, of Orangeburg, and Lewis Simpson, of St. Petersburg, Fla.; devoted cousin, Mrs. Elizabeth Simpson; a loving niece as a daughter, Ms. Betty Simpson and other relatives.

Visitation will be held from 1 to 7 p.m. Monday, at Bythewood Funeral Home of Orangeburg.

Friends may call at the residence and at the funeral home.

Mrs. Lizzie Gadson -- Dorchester

Mrs. Lizzie Gadson, 87, of Dorchester, died Tuesday, November 14, 2006.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, November 18, at House of God, with Elder Derrick Williams officiating. Burial will be in Dorchester Cemetery.

Mrs. Gadson was born November 10, 1919, to the late Willis Sumter and Elizabeth Summers. She was a member of House of God, Harleyville.

Survivors include her children, the Rev. Edward (Cance) Gadson, Deacon James (Annie Lee) Gadson, Samuel Gadson, Lizzie Ann Frazier, Sharon Scott; sisters, Celia Williams, Gussie Robinson; brothers, James (Myrtle) Darby, Mordica Darby Jr.; 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Brown & Son Funeral Home, St. George is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Patsy Hydrick -- SWANSEA

Mrs. Patsy Hydrick, 67, of Swansea, died Saturday, Nov. 18, 2006.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 22, at Sharon Crossroads United Methodist Church, with burial in the church cemetery.

Survivors include her husband, Robert A. “Gus” Hydrick of the home; three sons; five grandchildren; a sister; and three brothers.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 21, at Culler-McAlhany Funeral Home of North and other times at the home, 742 Woodford Road, Swansea.

Rev. Clifton Gary Whitman -- NORTH

The Rev. Clifton Gary Whitman, 74, of North, died Saturday, Nov. 18, 2006.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 21, at Sunny Vista Church of God, with the Rev. Bobby Winn, the Rev. Edward Tager and the Rev. Thomas Propps officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The casket will be placed in the church at 2 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Wylie Williams, Rudolph Carr, Franklin Williams, Troy Widener, Lionel Gartman, and Joseph Lubkin.

Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Me's Bible Class of Sunny Vista Church of God.

The Rev. Whitman was born in Iva, a son of the late Clifton Gary and Eula Holmes Whitman Sr. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a minister for 36 years, serving 19 years at Sunny Vista Church of God.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia Powell Whitman of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Gregg and Myrtle Whitman of Gaston and Paul and Gwen Whitman of Prosperity; six grandchildren, Keith Whitman, Russell Whitman, Kristen Whitman, Jennifer Whitman, Gabrielle and Joseph Jones; great-grandchild, Dylan Keith Whitman; two brothers, Coleman Whitman of Charlotte, N.C. and Cubby Whitman of Ruskin, Fla.; five sisters, Thelma Howard and Parnice Anderson, both of Anderson, Christine Anderson of Horn Lake, Miss., Sylvene Keown of Starr and Hazel Campbell of Iva.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, November 20, at Culler-McAlhany Funeral Home of North and other times at the home, 3021 Dragstrip Road, North.

Culler-McAlhany Funeral Home of North is in charge of arrangements.
