SANTEE, SC – Mr. John E. Pindell, 78, of Santee, SC, husband of Mary Pindell, died Thursday, October 18, 2007.
Services will be private.
Mr. Pindell was born in Baltimore, MD a son of John T. Pindell and Helen King Pindell. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War, and was a retired supervisor from Eastmet Corporation. Mr. Pindell and his wife resided in Perryhall, MD before retiring to Santee in 1987.
Surviving are his wife of Santee; a daughter, Carol L. Gonzalez of Anniston, AL; and a son, John J. Pindell of Santee; a brother, Kenneth Pindell and a sister, Muriel Sova, both of Essex, MD; grandchildren, Kevin Gonzalez of Anniston, AL and Brittnee R. Hooper of Columbiana, OH; and a great-grandson, Austin T. Hooper of Columbiana, OH.

David Thomas Mills
HOLLY HILL – David Thomas Mills, 27, of Carolina Ave., Holly Hill, died Tuesday, October 9, 2007, in the Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, October 12, in the Avinger Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Cooper Stonestreet, the Rev. Paul Hamilton, and the Rev. Albert Cox officiating. Burial will be in the Holly Hill Cemetery.
David was born in Charleston County, a son of Linda Mills Boillard; he was the adopted son of Robert E. Mills and Polly Jean Hutto Mills. He was a member of the Holly Hill United Methodist Church, a 2000 graduate of Holly Hill-Roberts High School, where he was a member of the Junior ROTC.
Survivors include his birth mother of Summerville; his adopted brother of the home; family members, Donald Boillard, Jennifer Boillard, Donald Boillard Jr., Steve Mills, and Jerry Mills, all of Summerville, Robert E. "Rocky" Mills Jr. and Terry Lynn Mills, both of Holly Hill. A special friend and mentor, Maj. Kenneth Dodd.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. this Thursday.

Loretta Singletary Hill
RIDGEVILLE – Mrs. Loretta Singletary Hill, 82, of the Sandridge Community, widow of Clarence H. Hill, Sr., died Monday, October 1, 2007 in a North Charleston hospital.
A memorial service will be held at 11 o’clock Thursday in the Sandridge Baptist Church with Rev. Danny Meetze officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call at AVINGER FUNERAL HOME, HOLLY HILL, from 6 to 8 o’clock this Wednesday evening.
Mrs. Hill was born in Berkeley County a daughter of the late James M. Singletary and Blanche Hart Singletary. She was a graduate of Cross High School and a member of Sandridge Baptist Church. Loretta was a devoted wife and mother who spent the happiest days of her life working side by side with her husband on their family farm.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Andrew and James “Buck” Singletary; and a sister, Wilma Smoak.
Surviving are a son, C.H. (Gail) Hill, Jr. of Ridgeville; daughters, Alice (Robert) Myers and Lana (Lew) Conn, both of Ridgeville; sisters, Meverline Robinson of Summerton, June Bletsch and Jewell Varner, both of Ridgeville; grandchildren, Todd C. Hill, Jennifer (Alex) Myers, Chad (Tiffany) Schmidt, Corey Conn, Kelley (Wes) Jones, Dana Myers, and Whitney Myers; and a great-granddaughter, Abigail Elizabeth Jones.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Sandridge Baptist Church, 5286 State Road, Holly Hill, SC 29059.
Mary Loy (Murray)
HOLLY HILL - Mary Murray Loy, 69, of Holly Hill, widow of William L. “Bill” Loy, died Sunday, July 10, 2016 at her home.
Funeral services will be 5 p.m. Thursday at Avinger Funeral Home with Pastor Coreane Darby officiating. Burial will follow in the Holly Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home.
Mary was born in Holly Hill, the daughter of the late Cal. T. Murray, Sr. and Alberta Lea Murray. She was preceded in death by a son, Christopher Loy.
Surviving are a son, William L. “Larry” Loy III of Holly Hill; and a brother, Cal T. (Doris Hope) Murray, Jr. of Holly Hill.
Russell Griffin
EUTAWVILLE - Russell Griffin, 62, died Monday, June 6, 2016 in Eutawville.
A memorial service will be announced later.
Russell was born in Lumberton, NC, a son of the late James Griffin and Bertha Jacobs Griffin. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War and was retired from hotel maintenance. Russell loved and enjoyed his family.
Survivng are daughters, Terra (Rev. Brandon) Gilreath of Greenville, and April (Shawn) Atkinson of Eutawville; sisters, Eloise Harrelson and Sherril Powers, both of Yauhannah, SC, Carol Smith of Charleston, Louanne Nobles of Friendship, Pamela Miller of Mt. Pleasant, and Faye Heath of Summerville; grandchildren, Matthew Cole and Madison Atkinson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dustin R. Risher
HOLLY HILL - Dustin Ray Risher, 32, of Holly Hill, died Friday, July 29, 2016 at his home.
A funeral service will be 4 p.m. Tuesday at Avinger Funeral Home with Mr. John Bunch officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethel UMC Cemetery, Harleyville.
The family will receive friends one hour prior the service at the funeral Home.
Dustin was a son of Debbie Robinson Mizell and the late Marion Sims Risher, Jr. He was a graduate of Woodland High School and was a welder. He enjoyed playing pool, and it’s been said that “metal was his job - wood was his passion.”
Surviving are his mother of Harleyville; his fiancée, Krystal Dickson of Holly Hill; children, Nicholas Crummie, Hunter Risher, Raylin Risher, and Kaytin Risher all of Holly Hill; sisters, Loretta (Tracey) Taylor and Tabby (Robbie) Adkins, both of Holly Hill, and Starla Risher of Harleyville; and a brother, Marion “Huleo” Risher III of Harleyville.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Avinger Funeral Home, PO Box 203, Holly Hill, SC 29059 to help with expenses.
Frankie Bennett (Way)
HOLLY HILL - Frankie Way Bennett, 83, of Holly Hill, widow of A.D. Bennett, passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at her home.
Funeral service will b 3 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church with Rev. Marshall Locke and Rev. Earl Behr officiating. Burial will follow in the Holly Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and grandsons-in-law.
A native and life-long resident of Holly Hill, Frankie was a daughter of the late Zach V. Way and Constance Parler Way. She was a graduate of Furman University, where she was a cheerleader and a member of the Furman Singers. Frankie was a retired teacher from the SC Public Schools, a member of First Baptist Church, Holly Hill, and enjoyed playing bridge. She loved being a grandmother and great-grandmother. Frankie was preceded in death by a sister, Doris Weeks, and a brother, Zach Way, Jr.
Surviving are daughters, Sharon Landis of Moncks Corner, Connie (James) Simons and Julie (Bill) Johnson, both of Holly Hill; a son, Dana Bennett of Holly Hill; a sister, Judy W. Bilton of Eutawville; grandchildren, Peter Landis, Jane Landis, Daniel Nester, Lee (Denny) Ulmer, Elizabeth (Tommy) Bilancione, Tripp (Stacy) Gaillard, and Christopher (Sarah) Gaillard; great-grandchildren, Adeline Bilancione, William Bilancione, and Harper Bilancione, Frankie Ulmer, Brady Gaillard, Ryan Gaillard, Will Gaillard and Bennett Gaillard.
Friends may call at Avinger Funeral Home from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday at Avinger Funeral Home and other times at the residence.

Charles Stutts
HOLLY HILL - Charles “Charlie” Stutts, 76, of Holly Hill, husband of Ruth Oates Stutts, passed away Thursday, September 22, 2016 in a North Charleston hospital.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Holly Hill United Methodist Church with Rev. Cooper Stonestreet and Rev. Stephen Stutts officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Holly Hill Cemetery.
Born in Kingstree, Charlie was a son of the late Robert Stutts and Ada Berry Stutts. After retiring from Navy, he worked for General Electric and later was a partner in Excel Apparatus Services, Inc. Charlie was a member of the American Legion and Holly Hill United Methodist Church. He was good friend, a great father and grandfather, and a wonderful husband.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth of Holly Hill; a daughter, Cheryl (Mike) Waddell of Woodruff; a son, Rev. Stephen (Connie) Stutts of New Bern, NC; a sister, Mary Stutts of Dillon; grandchildren, Stephanie (Will) Buffaloe, Jessica (Brent) Manning, Kara (Anthony) Martinez, Matthew Stutts, Preston Waddell, Courtney Waddell, Cooper Hopkins, Grayson Hopkins, and Lanie Katherine Hopkins; and a great-grandson, Ezekiel Manning.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 Sunday at Avinger Funeral Home.

James Porter Bull
SANTEE - James Porter Bull, 90, of the Providence Community, husband of Newell Jeffords Bull, passed away Monday, September 26, 2016 at his home.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Providence United Methodist Church with Rev. Terry Martin and Rev. Ken Hay officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be James Shuler, Jonathan Bull, William Bull, Matthew Bull, Dr. Steven Bull, Dr. Douglas Bull, Dr. Gary Jeffords, and Dean Hutto.
Porter was born in the Providence Community, a son of the late Robbie LeRoy Bull and Bessie Terry Bull. He was a graduate of Providence High School, and graduated from Clemson College with a degree in agricultural engineering. A Navy veteran of World War II, he farmed for 13 years before going to work with the Federal Crop Insurance Corporation where he retired as Southeast Regional Director.
Porter was an active member of Providence United Methodist Church, where he served on many boards and committees, as well as teaching Sunday School for many years. He was a former Boy Scout Leader, and prior to failing health an avid golfer.
Surviving are his wife, Newell J. Bull of Providence; a daughter, Karen B. (Dahl) Shuler of Providence; a son, Dr. Michael P. Bull of Providence; grandchildren, Jonathan (Yasmeen) Bull, Jamie B. (Mike) Blake, Sara Shuler (Dean) Hutto, and James Porter Shuler; great-grandchildren, Ethan Keith Bull, Julie Elizabeth Blake Emma Elise Bull, and Sara Michelle Blake.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Avinger Funeral Home in Holly Hill, and other times at the residence.
