Mrs. Shirley E. Pauling, ORANGEBURG

Funeral services for Mrs. Shirley E. Pauling, 44, of 134 Rio Drive, Orangeburg, will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2006, at Simmons Funeral Home Chapel, Orangeburg, with the Rev. Eugene Rumph officiating. Burial will be in Heavenly Rest Memorial Park Cemetery, Cordova.

Mrs. Pauling died Saturday, Dec. 9, at her residence.

She was born Nov. 28, 1962, in Elloree, a daughter of the late Annie Mae Bellinger and Eugene Davis. She graduated from Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School and attended Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College in the Criminal Justice program. At an early age, she joined Nazareth Baptist Church and was affiliated with St. Paul Baptist Church in Orangeburg. She was a member of the Christian Lights. She was the owner of Exstacy Bar and Lounge.

Survivors include daughters, Sharekia (Tamarcy) Dash, Lynetta Jones, Marquetta Jones, Phoebia Mack, all of Orangeburg; sons, Lenny Jones and Michael Goldson, both of Orangeburg; father, and Eugene Davis of Newark, N.J.; two sisters, La’Verna (Jacob) Brown of Gaston and Ida Mae Haynes of New York; brothers, Robert (Juanita) Pauling of Ackworth, Ga., Larry (Beatrice) Pauling of Orangeburg, James (Deidra) Bellinger of Perry, Fla., Curtis (Carrie) Davis of Pecos, N.M., and Richard Fuller of Orangeburg; sister-in-law, Sabrina Davis; maternal grandparents, William “Boy” Verna Pauling of Georgetown; paternal grandparents, Praylow (Carrie Lou) Davis Sr. of Elloree; six grandchildren; three aunts; six uncles; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Friends may call at Simmons Funeral Home of Orangeburg.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Viola Smith Grant, DORCHESTER

Mrs. Viola Smith Grant, 83, of 254 Smoaks Road, Dorchester, died Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2006, at Trident Medical Center, Charleston.

Eva Mae Carson Carn, SUMMERVILLE

Eva Mae Carson Carn, 63, of 109 Marie Lane, Summerville, died Sunday, Dec. 3, 2006, at Trident Medical Center in North Charleston after a brief illness.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8, at Ling Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Richard Thompson officiating. Burial will be held in St. Mark United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Carn was born Aug. 25, 1943, in Dorchester County to the late Noah and Eartha Mae Carson. She attended the public schools of Dorchester County. She was joined in holy matrimony to the late Lee Junior Carn in 1968. This union was blessed with three children.

Survivors include two daughters, Rosa Ann and Martha Carn, both of Summerville; one son, Michael Lee Carn of Summerville; one sister, Rosa Lee Wolfe of St. George; mother-in-law, Martha Carn of St. George; four sisters-in-law, Valerie Carn, Mary Lee (Dave) Allen, Virginia Delee and Marie Edwards, all of St. George; four brothers-in-law, Lewis (Maggie) Carn, Ulysee Carn, Clay Carn and Joe Carn, all of St. George; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Ling Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Viola Boan, HARTSVILLE

Viola Welch Boan, 93, of Hartsville, died Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2006.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15, at First Pentecostal Holiness Church, with the Rev. Alvin Rogers officiating. Burial will be in Westview Memorial Park Cemetery, directed by Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home, Hartsville.

Mrs. Boan was born in Darlington County, a daughter of the late Christopher and Henry Thomas Welch. She was a terrific lady that lived a full life. Her motto was “remember me with smiles, cheers and laughter, if you can’t remember me this way, then don’t remember me at all.”

She was preceded in death by daughters, Henrietta Ghoens and Lenora Rodgers.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, John David and Brenda Boan of Orangeburg; daughters, Lura Boan Winburn of Hartsville and Dora Boan Anderson of Hartsville; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Vernetha Nimmons-Walker, BAMBERG

Ms. Elease George Jenkins -- ORANGEBURG

Funeral services for Ms. Elease George Jenkins, 84, of 3136 North Road, Orangeburg, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2006, at Jenkins Funeral Home Chapel in Orangeburg, with the Rev. Willard Sabb officiating. Burial will be in the Belleville Memorial Gardens.

Ms. Jenkins died Thursday, Dec. 7, at the Orangeburg Nursing Home after an extended illness.

She was born Aug. 9, 1922, in Lamar, a daughter of the late Mr. Samuel E. Jenkins and Mrs. Ada Dickson Jenkins. She attended the public schools of Calhoun County. She received a BS degree in education from South Carolina State College in Orangeburg and a MS degree from Tuskegee Institute in Alabama. She taught school for over 39 years in various locations in South Carolina and Florida.

Survivors include a sister, Ada E. Snell and brother, Leveland (Wilhelmenia) Jenkins, both of Orangeburg; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Viewing will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 11, at Jenkins Funeral Home of Orangeburg.

Friends may call at the funeral home.

Miss Doris Sistrunk, ST. MATTHEWS

Funeral services for Miss Doris Sistrunk, 45, of 4521 St. Matthews Road, St. Matthews, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2006, at Mt. Siani RMUE Church, Orangeburg with the Rev. Leroy Sims Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Orangeburg Cemetery, Orangeburg.

The casket will be placed in the church at 10 a.m.

Miss Sistrunk died Thursday, Dec. 7, at her residence following a brief illness.

She was born in Cordova, a daughter of Jeff Birchmore of New York, N.Y. and mother and stepfather, Tommie Felder of Orangeburg. At an early age, she joined Calvary United Methodist Church in Cordova.

Miss Sistrunk attended Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School, Orangeburg, Class of 1979. She was employed at The Regional Medical Center for several years. She resided in Jamison until her death.

Survivors include a daughter, Brittney Tamara Sistrunk; and devoted finance, Sylvester Cokley, both of the home.

Friends may call at the residence and at Glover’s Funeral Home.
