Funeral services for Gerline H. Aiken, 82, of 260 Corner Lane, Branchville, will be held at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 19, 2006, at McBranch Baptist Church, Branchville, with the Rev. Elgie Rumph officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be nephews.
Mrs. Aiken died Tuesday, Nov. 14, following an extended illness.
She was born Wednesday, June 11, 1924, the daughter of the late John and Henrietta Syphrett Henderson. She was a faithful member of McBranch Baptist Church, the mother of the church for 30 years, a member of the pastor’s aide, and senior choir. She was a homemaker. One son preceded her in death, John A. Aiken.
Survivors include her husband, Ezekiel Aiken of the home; two sons, Franklin (Christine) Aiken and Carl Aiken, both of Branchville; two daughters, Loretta (Willi) Yankey, of Bronx, N.Y., Arleen Aiken, of Branchville; and two sisters, Sarah Jane Holmes and Henrietta West, both of Branchville.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday at Owens Funeral Home and 7 to 9 p.m. at McBranch Baptist Church.
Friends may call at the residence.
Owens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Funeral services for Mr. Jesse James Williams, 61, of 450 Jamison Ave., Orangeburg, will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 18, 2006, at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Nathaniel Bonaparte officiating.
The casket will be placed in the church at 2 p.m.
Mr. Williams died Sunday, Nov. 12, at his residence.
He was born May 10, 1945, a son of Mrs. Rebecca Williams and the late Rev. Edgar Williams Sr.
Visitation will be from noon until 7 p.m. Friday at Bythewood Funeral Home.

Mrs. Marguerite “Willie” Ward Watkins, widow of Bernie Hart Watkins, of Holly Hill, entered into eternal rest in Orangeburg, Friday, Nov. 17, 2006.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 20, at the J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Greenridge Road Chapel, North Charleston. Burial will be in the Carolina Memorial Park, North Charleston.
Pallbearers will be Jonathan Todd Watkins, Mark Thayer Thomas, Larry James Marchant, Al Reubin West, Joseph McCants McLeod, and Christopher Thomason.
Mrs. Watkins was born Feb. 5, 1915 in Bell, Fla., a daughter of the late Walter William and Georgia Martin Ward. She retired many years ago from American Tobacco Company and she and her husband were owner/operators of a mercantile store. She was a member of Eutawville Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Alice S. Watkins of Holly Hill and Georgia Ann West of Eutawville; one son, J. C. Simmons and wife, Linda, of Eutawville; 12 grandchildren, and a number of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and great-great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Alison M. Simmons and Kenneth I. Simmons.
Friends may call at Stuhr’s Greenridge Road Chapel from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 19.

Angela Michelle Rider, 37, of Cordova, died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2007.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 12, at Culler-McAlhany Funeral Home, with the Rev. Tim Gunnells officiating. Burial will be in South End Cemetery in Bamberg.
Miss Rider was born in Orangeburg, a daughter of Malcolm Rider and the late Emma Jane Dyches Rider. She was employed at Eutaw Springs Restaurant.
Survivors include her father, of Norway; a brother and sister-in-law, Micheal and Tammie Rider of Neeses; two nieces, Sabrina and Taylor Rider; a nephew, Michael Jeremy Rider; her grandmother, Lorene Rider of Cordova; and a number of aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 11, at Culler-McAlhany Funeral Home and other times at the home of Debbie and Don Rider, 139 Southwest Circle, Cordova.

Funeral services for Delores Williams, Gleaton, 79, of Blackville, SC, will be held two p.m., Friday, March 11, 2011 at the Folk Funeral Home Chapel, Williston, SC with burial in the Springfield Cemetery. The family will receive friends from six to eight p.m., Thursday at the funeral home. Mrs. Gleaton passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2011.
Born in Blackville, SC she was a daughter of the late Clarence and Maybel Chavis Williams. Mrs. Gleaton was a Christian and affiliated with the Pentecostal Holiness Church, was a homemaker and worked at the Blossom Shop for more than 20 years.
Survivors include her husband J. L. Gleaton of the home; daughters, Helen (Floyd) Bruner, Shirley (Bruce) Baker, Nevalin (Steve) Davis, Ann (Dennis) Pernell, Laura (Knox) Hambright; sons, John (Peggy) Gleaton, Jerry (Jean) Gleaton, Jimmy (Debbie) Gleaton; adopted son, Norman (Roberta) Williams; sister, Lucille Chavis; brothers, Paul Williams, Cecil (Doris) Williams; 15 grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by sisters, Mozelle Tuttle, Pearl Brooks; brothers, Govan, Obie, Fletch, Morris, Russell Williams, and three grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mr. James Butler Jr., 57, of 413 New Hope Road, St. Matthews, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 12, 2007, at St. John United Methodist Church, Columbia Road, with the Rev. Velma M. Haywood officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The casket will be placed in the church at noon.
Pallbearers will be Willie T. Kinpson, Francis Johnson, Jackie Robinson, Roymond Robinson, Willie Robinson Jr. and Thomas Terrell.
Mr. Butler died Sunday, Jan. 7, at Palmetto Health Richland Hospital in Columbia.
He was born July 29, 1949, in New York City to the late James Butler and Dorothy Robinson Butler. James attended the public schools of New York City and graduated with honors from Louis D. Brandeis High School. Upon graduation he entered and completed a technical training program that led to a position at IBM as a customer engineer. He relocated to St. Matthews in March 1994. He joined St. John United Methodist Church in May 1999.
James met his wife, Brenda, when they were teenagers. They were married Feb. 15, 1986, at Union Baptist Church in Harlem. He loved to travel, read, fish, listen to “old school” music, watch TV, and enjoy his moments with Brenda and their dog, Brandon “Brandy” Butler a/k/a “Monster” which James affectionately called him.
Survivors include his loving and devoted wife, Brenda; a very close godson/nephew, Lawrence Butler of Atlanta; three sisters, Gloria Keitt of St. Matthews, Diane Butler of Staten Island, N.Y., and Mrs. Sandra (Bernie) Guinyard of St. Matthews; two brothers, Larry Butler of Manhattan, N.Y., and David (Melanie) Butler of Bronx, N.Y.; a spiritual and lifelong brother, Nathaniel Phillips of Bronx, N.Y.; sister-in-law, Linda Okereke of Newark, N.J.; brothers-in-law, Ernest Hill and Ronald Hill of Jersey City, N.J.; two aunts; three nieces; three nephews; a godchild, Thylar Hall of Bronx, N.Y.; a lifelong friend and confidant, James (Hazel) Hayes of Tampa, Fla.; and many other extremely close family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Bythewood Funeral Home.
Friends may call at the residence of his sister, Gloria Keitt, 415 New Hope Road, and at the funeral home.
