Channing Walker -- St. Matthews

Funeral services for Channing Walker, 20, of 110 Oriole Circle, St. Matthews, will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2007 at Mount Carmel Baptist Church in St. Matthews, with the Rev. Sam Richardson officiating. Burial will take place in the church cemetery.

The casket will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service for viewing.

Mr. Walker died Thursday, Jan. 4, at MUSC in Charleston.

He was born November 1, 1986, a son of Magnolia Larrymore Walker and the late Dale Adrian Walker. He was a graduate of Calhoun County High School Class of 2004, attended Claflin University and Trident Technical College.

He was a member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church where he served on the junior choir and served as a church musician (percussionist). He also served as a church musician for Shiloh Baptist Church of St. Matthews.

Survivors include his mother, Magnolia Larrymore Walker of the home; maternal grandmother, Maybell Larrymore of St. Matthews; paternal grandparents, Joseph (Ogaretta) Walker Jr. of St. Matthews and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and other relatives and friends.

Viewing will be held on Monday, Jan. 8, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Jenkins Funeral Home of St. Matthews.

Friends may call at the residence of his mother, Magnolia Walker, 110 Oriole Circle, St. Matthews and at the funeral home.

Jenkins Funeral Home of St. Matthews is in charge of arrangements.

Emma Jane Dyches Rider, CORDOVA

Funeral services for Emma Jane Dyches Rider, 57, of Cordova, have been rescheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 12, 2007, at Culler-McAlhany Funeral Home Chapel in North. Burial will be in South End Cemetery in Bamberg.

The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 11, at the funeral home and other times at the home of Debbie and Don Rider, 139 Southwest Circle, Cordova.

Graveside services for Mrs. Daisy Daniels, 67, of 39 Harley Road, Bamberg, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 7, 2007, at Thankful Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Carl Williams officiating.

Mrs. Daniels died Monday, Jan. 1.

Mother Florie Ella Stewart Moody

Funeral services for Mother Florie Ella Stewart Moody will be held at 10 a.m Saturday, Jan. 6, 2007, in the Holy Temple Church of God in Christ, Bamberg. Burial will be in Bamberg Memory Gardens.

Mother Florie Ella Stewart Moody died Friday, Dec. 29, in Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, Md.

She was born Oct. 16, 1910 in Bamberg, the daughter of the late Sam and Sylvia Stewart. She attended school in Denmark. She was a faithful member of Capernaum Baptist Church, where she received Christ. Mother Moody later joined Greater Miracle Temple Worship Center were she served faithfully for over 14 years in multiple positions to include usher, singer and an active participant of the mother board.

She was married to the late James Eagle Moody and to this union 10 children were born. She was preceded in death by a loving daughter, Louretha Moody, and two loving sons, Jimmy Charles Moody and Willie Moody.

Survivors include five loving daughters, Evelyn Dowling of Alabama, Lumisher McCormick and Joan Douglas, both of Maryland, Mildred Evans and Carrie Robinson, both of South Carolina; two loving sons, Freddie Lee Moody of South Carolina, Robert Randell Moody of Brooklyn, N.Y.; two sisters, Annie Elmore of New Jersey, Oneitha Goodman of New York; three sons-in-law, Leroy Dowling of Alabama, Bernard Evans and Walter Robinson, both of South Carolina; one lifelong companion of Lumisher William Henry of Maryland; three daughters-in-law, Carmen Moody of New York, Jessie Moody of Washington, Betty Moody of South Carolina; one sister-in-law, Marie Stewart of South Carolina; 46 grandchildren; 83 great-grandchildren; 26 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends and one special adopted cousin from the hospital, Michelle Caswell.

The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall of the church following the burial.

The Denmark Chapel of Carroll Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Infant Spencer Owen Felkel -- Holly Hill

Infant Spencer Owen Felkel, son of Eddie and Melissa Felkel of Holly Hill, died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2007, at the Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, at Target United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Barry Brinson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Spencer was born March 29, 2006.

Surviving are his parents of Holly Hill; a sister, Lauren Felkel of Holly Hill; maternal grandparents, Pamela Eix of Pottsboro, Texas, and Curt Joseph of Fremont, Ohio; and paternal grandfather, Edward T. Felkel Jr. of Holly Hill.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 5, at Avinger Funeral Home.

Infant De’Mauri Treveion Gilliard, SANTEE

Infant De’Mauri Treveion Gilliard, of Santee, died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2006, at the Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 26, at Greater Friendship AME Church, Santee, with the Rev. John C. Smalls officiating.

Infant Gilliard was the son of Gabrielle Washington and Durentay Gilliard.

Maternal grandparents, paternal grandparents, and other friends attended the services.

Williams Funeral Home of Elloree was in charge.

Tossie Bell Mingo Folk, BAMBERG

Funeral services for Tossie Bell Mingo Folk, 83, of 1635 Binnicker Bridge Road, Bamberg will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17, in the Gethsemane Baptist Church, Bamberg. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Ms. Folk died Wednesday, Dec. 13, in the Bamberg County Hospital.

She was born Oct. 23, 1923, in Bamberg County, a daughter of the late Charlie and Mary Glover Mingo. At an early age, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior and attended Rizers Chapel UMC, Ehrhardt. Later she joined the Gethsemane Baptist Church where she worked faithfully until her health failed. She served on the Mother’s Board, Deaconess Board, Pastor’s Aide, and Missionary Society, sang on the Second Choir and was a member of the Oak Grove Chapter No.19 Order of the Eastern Star. She was also a member of the Southern Angelic Singers. Tossie was married to the late Earthie Folk.

Survivors include a daughter; Mary B. Goodwin of Bamberg; two sons, Minister James Williams of Syracuse, N.Y., Gene Folk of Augusta; three sisters, Ethel Mae Gothie of Ehrhardt, Dorothy Henderson of Columbia and Hazel Smalls of Brooklyn, N.Y.; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren.

Eastern Star services will be held in the chapel at 6 p.m.

The Carroll Mortuary of Bamberg is in charge of arrangements.

Friends may call at the residence.
