Services for Ida Mae Littlejohn McLeod, 62, of 145 Washington Rd., Cowpens, will be held today at 2 p.m. at White Plains Baptist Church conducted by the Revs. James Patton Jr. and Mills McHam. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m.
Pallbearers will be James Wilkins, Lamont Carpenter, Paul Tinsley, Bobby Studyvance, Chris Jefferies, Eddie Logan, Timothy Jackson and James Anderson.

Stephan Andru (Dru) Scruggs, 9-month-old son of Scottie and Stephanie Conrath Scruggs of 630 Park Gate Rd., died Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2001, in Spartanburg Regional Health Care System.
Surviving in addition to his parents are two brothers, Jonathan and James Scruggs of the home; maternal grandparents, Steve and Ginger Conrath of Gaffney; paternal grandparents, Gerald and Brenda Scruggs of Gaffney; maternal great-grandmother, Barbara Geese of Cambridge, Ohio; paternal great-grandmother, Mary Scruggs of Gaffney; paternal great-great-grandparents, Graham and Evelyn Grissom of Gaffney; and maternal great-great-grandmother, Grace Byers of Cambridge, Ohio.
Services will be held today at 11 a.m. at Shuford-Hatcher Chapel conducted by the Rev. Dewitt Clyde. Burial will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Jon Scruggs, James Scruggs and Ronald Moss.

Electrician
Mark L. Powell, 37, of 106-A Richardson St., died Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2001. at his home.
A native of Cowpens, he was the son of Julia Stapleton Powell Dillard of Spartanburg and the late L. B. Powell. He was a member of Glendale Baptist Church, an electrician and a veteran of the U S. Marine Corps.
In addition to his mother, survivors include three daughters, Elizabeth Ann Powell of Chesnee, Julia Casey Powell of Spartanburg and Brandy Giles of Gaffney; three sons, Stephen Powell and Chris Fowler, both of Spartanburg, and Greg Giles of Gaffney; three sisters, Rhonda Fowler, Vickie Lowe, both of Pauline, and Christy Waters of Roebuck; maternal grandmother, Mary Revels of Spartanburg; and step-father, Jerry S. Dillard of Spartanburg.
The family is at the home of his mother, Julia Dillard, 1005 Thomas Rd., Spartanburg.

Lillian Bradley
Retired school teacher
MAYESVILLE – Lillian Bradley, 98, died Thursday, Aug. 9, 2001, at her home.
Born in Mayesville, she was a daughter of the late Dr. William Martin Bradley and the late Lillie Freeman Bradley. She was a member of Mayesville Presbyterian Church and a lifelong member of the Mayesville community. A graduate of Mayesville High School and Anderson College, she was a retired elementary school teacher, having taught in North Carolina and South Carolina for over 45 years.
Surviving are two sisters, Bessie B. Dickerson of Mayesville and Annie Babb of Charleston; three nieces, Janice Dalton of Charleston, Barbara Payne of Panama City, Fla., and Betsy Hatcher of Gaffney; two nephews, John H. Dickerson of Sumter and Dr. Robert Babb of Charleston; and three great-nieces, Pamela J. Stukes of Summerton, Victoria Bryant of the home and Cherry J. Johnson of Mayesville.
Miss Bradley was preceded in death by a brother, I.W. Bradley.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. today in Mayesville Black River Cemetery with Dr. D. McNab Morrison and the Rev. Doug White officiating.
Pallbearers will be Elders of Mayesville Presbyterian Church.
Honorary pallbearers will be Donald M. Johnson, Dennis Bryant, Billy Hatcher, Lionel Stukes and W.G. Thibodeau.
The family will receive friends at the home in Mayesville.

Loyd D. Peeler
Loyd Davis Peeler, 77, died Thursday, Aug. 9, 2001, in Spartanburg Regional Health Care System.
Surviving are his wife, Wilma Tate Peeler, and four children, Francis P. Farrish, Ronald Peeler, L.D. Peeler and James Peeler.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 7-8 p.m. at Shuford-Hatcher Funeral Home.
Services will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at West End Baptist Church.
John M. Smith Sr
John Marion Smith Sr., 63, of 507 Oliver St., died Tuesday, Aug. 7, in Upstate Carolina Medical Center.
A native of Gaffney, he was the husband of Geoaldine Jenkins Smith and son of the late Rev. Thomas Smith and the late Bessie Lindsay Smith. He was a member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church and attended Metropolitan A.M.E. Zion Church. He was a 1955 graduate of Granard High School where he was a star football and basketball player. He attended Friendship College in Rock Hill and was a retired employee of Hoechst Celanese of Spartanburg.
Also surviving are three daughters, Marionetta Smith of Rock Hill, Sharon M. Smith of Spartanburg and Johnetta Knuckles of Douglas, Ga.; three sons, Russell Smith and John Marion Smith Jr. of Gaffney and Sheldon Knuckles of Spartanburg; two sisters, Christine Littlejohn and Vera Palmer of Gaffney; two brothers, Dr. Jerome Smith of Columbia and M.B. Smith of Dayton, Ohio; 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church with the Revs. Heywood Boyd and Tony Macomson officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. Body will be placed in the church at 2p.m.
Pallbearers will be Brian Keith Davidson, Dean Byars, Darryll Douglas, Jake Jefferies, Douglas Littlejohn and Corey Robinson.

James Alfred Copeland Jr., 28, known by many as "Poo," of 616 Broad St., died Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2001, at his home.
Son of Della Dorsey of the home and James A. Copeland Sr. of Baltimore, Md., he was a native of Baltimore, Md., and a welder by trade.
Surviving are a daughter, Quanikugua S. Copeland of Gaffney; two brothers, Timothy "Tim" Copeland of Atlanta and Phillip "Pepper" Copeland of Gaffney; and grandmother, Louise Tate of Gaffney.
Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church with the Revs. C. Dennis Rector, Clair Shell and Janie Davis officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Johnnie R. Wright, 76, of 501 W. Montgomery St., died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2001, in Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
A native of Cherokee County, she was the wife of J.L. Wright and daughter of the late John Robinson and the late Jessie Roark Robinson. She was a retired textile employee and a member of West End Baptist Church.
Also surviving are three stepdaughters, Linda Childers of Hickory Grove, Janice Taylor of Gaffney and Barbara Covington of Blacksburg; a stepson, Terry Wright of York; eight step-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Lillie Mae Willard, Betty McCraw, Beatrice Tate, all of Gaffney, and Peggy Corbett of Irmo.
