WILKESBORO, N.C. -Pauline McCann Prevette Gregory, age 73, of White Plains Road, Roaring River, widow of Lester Prevette and Commie Gregory died Thursday, March 21, at Britthaven Nursing Home in Wilkesboro, N.C.
Mrs. Gregory was born in Wilkes County, August 25, 1928, to Hiram Winfield and Betty Waddell McCann. She was a member of Roaring River Baptist Church.
Mrs. Gregory is survived by two sons, Larry Prevette of Roaring River, N.C., Jerry Prevette of San Diego, Calif.; two sisters, Audrey Shaw of Hamptonville, N.C. Polly Brooks of North Wilkesboro, N.C. three grandchildren; and one great grandchild
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Roaring River Baptist Church in Roaring River, N.C., with the Rev. Rex Foster officiating.
The body will be placed in the church at 1:30. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6:30-8:30 at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home in North Wilkesboro, N.C.

Robert "Bob" Henderson

Robert Keith "Bob" Henderson, 67, husband of Doris Jean Laxton Henderson of 319 Belvue Drive, died at his home on Friday, March 22, 2002, at 7:52 a.m. after a brief illness.
Mr. Henderson was born in Spartanburg County on April 29, 1934, a son of the late M.Y. and Nina Lee Cohen Henderson. He was a member of Boiling Springs Baptist Church and was a member of Masonic Lodge #351 and the Hejaz Shrine Temple. He was a graduate of Union High School and was owner of Henderson's Plumbing and Mechanical Contractors. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Cheryl Lynn H. McCall of Union; two sons, Maury Keith Henderson and Richard E. Henderson, both of Union; a sister, Faye H. Moss of Anderson, two brothers, Kenneth Y. Henderson of Union and Ronald O. Henderson of Buffalo; three grandchildren, Josh McCall, Ashley McCall and Brian Henderson; and two great-grandchildren, Rabecka McCall and Evan McCall.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Tabernacle Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Barry Ellis and the Rev. Jack Bratton. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens.
Active pallbearers will be Colon Duckett, George Gregory, Larry Moss, Ted Henderson, Jack Henderson, James Turner and Warren Pettit.
The following are asked to assemble at the church Sunday at 1:45 p.m. to form the honorary escort: Employees of Henderson Plumbing and Willie James Harris, Carl Beck, Dr. Thomas Young, James Miller, Thomas Bobo, John Ballenger, Mrs. Harold Hope, Clint Smith, Nadine Smith, Van Garner, Marion Bailey, Danny Mize, Leroy Ivey, Stonie Keith and Frank "Lum" Edwards.

HIGH POINT, NC - Annie Mae Camp, 96, a resident of High Point Care Center, formerly of Astor Dowdy, died March 23, 2002 at the nursing facility. She had been in declining health for two months.
Mrs. Camp was born May 2, 1903 in Union, a daughter of K. and Mattie Rice Rogers. She had resided in High Point more than 80 years, where she was last employed as a domestic worker in various private homes. She was a faithful member of First Emmanuel Baptist Church, where she was a member of the usher board and the Missionary Croup. Her husband, Rev. R. D. Camp, and both siblings, all preceded her in death.
Survivors include a stepdaughter, Patricia Camp of Washington, DC; loving cousins, Ben and Alice Rice of Union. There are a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p. m. Tuesday at First Emmanuel Baptist Church by Rev. Lawrence Curtis. Burial will follow at Carolina Biblical Gardens. Family visitation will be at the church Tuesday from noon until 1 p. m.

JONESVILLE - Kathleen Proctor Fowler, 86, of 1141 South Jonesville Highway, died Sunday, March 24, 2002 in Spartanburg Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.
Mrs. Fowler was born in Gaffney on Feb. 16, 1916, a daughter of the late Leander and Essie Worthy Proctor. She was a 1936 graduate of Kelly-Pinckney High School and was a retired beautician with Evelyn's Beauty Shop in Spartanburg. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Spartanburg.
Survivors include two brothers, Wells Proctor of Jonesville and Harry Proctor of the home; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Gilead Baptist Church Cemetery conducted by the Rev. Lawton Neely.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7-9 at Holcombe's Jonesville Chapel.

JONESVILLE - Lois M. Gossett, 78, of 505 New Hope Church Road, widow of Albert H. "Buck" Gossett Jr., died Tuesday, March 26, 2002 at 5:17 a.m. in Wallace Thomson Hospital.
Mrs. Gossett was born in Union on Sept. 3, 1923, a daughter of the late Monroe and Alice Fowler Miller. She was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church and was retired from Milliken & Company, Monarch Plant.
Mrs. Gossett was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Survivors include three sons, Billy Gossett and is wife, Alleen, Ronnie Gossett and his wife, Christal, both of Jonesville and Donald Gossett of Union; three granddaughters, Sherry Comer, Andrea Michelle Gossett and Tina Gossett; and one great-granddaughter, Kasey Comer.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at New Hope United Methodist Church conducted by the Rev. Scott Petry, the Rev. Ralph Brown and the Rev. Neil Keisler. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The body will remain at the funeral home where the family will receive friends Wednesday night from 7-9 and will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. Thursday to await the hour of service.

PAULINE - Annie Laura Trammell Lawson, 55, of 1326 Mt. Lebanon Road, wife of Wilmer Lawson, died at her home Monday, March 25, 2002 at 3:22 p.m. after an extended illness.
Mrs. Lawson was born in Union on Aug. 6, 1946, a daughter of Mary Ellen Boulware Trammell of Union and the late Frank Trammell. She was a member of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Christian Cornerstone and was formerly employed with Arrow Automotive.
Surviving in addition to her husband and mother are a daughter and son-in-law, Angie and John Beaty of Pauline; a son and daughter-in-law, Phillip Lawson and Missy Black of Blacksburg; three brothers, Ned Trammell, Jerry Dennis Trammell and Ricky Trammell, all of Union; a sister, Melinda Sorrow of Union; and five grandchildren, Cody Boulware of Pauline and R.J., Chance, Kyle and Katie Lawson, all of Blacksburg.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Guy Langston and the Rev. Melvin Shelton. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Elaine Alma McBride, 61, of 501 South McQueen St., Florence, a former resident of Jonesville, died Sunday, March 24, 2002 at 9:27 p.m. in Carolina Hospital.
Ms. McBride was born in Jonesville on July 20, 1940, a daughter of the late Lewis and Edith Horne McBride. She was of the Baptist faith. She was a graduate of Jonesville High School and was formerly employed with City Motors in Jonesville.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas L. "Tom-Tom" Simmons Jr. and Angie McGowan Simmons of Union and Christopher Todd Simmons and Pamela Lawson Simmons of Woodruff and formerly of Jonesville; a daughter and son-in-law, Pamela Simmons Rose and Marcus Rose of Union; a sister, Brea McBride of Union; two brothers, Friday McBride and Randy McBride, both of Jonesville; six grandchildren: Sonya Sinclair of Buffalo, Shannon Manibusan, Ashley Simmons and Amber Simmons all of Jonesville, April Simmons and Zachary Simmons both of Union; three great-grandchildren, Amanda Sinclair of Buffalo, Novah Manibusan and Little Matt Manibusan, both of Jonesville. Ms. McBride was predeceased by a brother, Louie McBride.

Annie Ruth (Tune) Peake, 49, of 111 Richard St., died March 24, 2002. She was born in Union July 6, 1952, the daughter of the late Dennis Peake Sr. and Polly Ann Jeter Peake.
A graduate of Union High School she was employed with Milliken & Co. at the Gillespie Plant.
Surviving are: two sons, Rodney Scott Peake of Spartanburg and Roderick kJamaine Long of Union; a daughter, Margaret Smith Rainwater of Union; a sister, Eleanor (Eddie) Reaves of Dillon; seven brothers, Rev, Dennis (Maxine) Peake Jr., Larry (Lettie) Peake, Michael (Frances) Peake, Jimmy (Grace) Peake and Ralph (Terri) Peake, all of Union; Arthur Peake of Landrum and Roosevelt Peake of Phoenix City, AL.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p. m. at Wyatt's Chapel Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Dr. Jefferson McDowell. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday from 10 a. m. until 8 p. m. and on Friday from 8 a. m. until noon.
The body will be placed in the church at 1 p. m. on the day of the service.

Owens Thompson, 86, of 202 Monroe St., Union, husband of Virgina Thompson, died Saturday, March 23, 2002, at Wallace Thomson Hospital after a long illness.
Thompson was born in Union on October 12, 1915, a son of the late Owens Thompson and Cornelia Phillips Thompson. He was retired from Smith-Williams Lumber Company.
In addition to his wife, survivors include five sons, Roy James Jeter, Harold Dean Jeter, Howard Anthony Thompson, Scotty Alexander Thompson, all of Union, and Stenson Jeter of Ohio; two daughters, Paula Eyvonne Thompson of Union; a brother, Clayton Thompson of Union; 15 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Union Community Funeral Home conducted.
Burial will be in the St. Paul Society Cemetery.
Family and friends and will serve as pallbearers and flower bearers.
