BUFFALO - Michael Mike Bryon Burnett, 38, husband of Emily Eubanks Burnett, of 414 Bailey Rd., Buffalo, died Wednesday afternoon, May 8, 2002. Mr. Burnett was born in Union on June 28, 1963, a son of Lewis E. Burnett of Metter, Ga. and Joyce Capps Haney of Union. Mr. Burnett was employed with Mrs. Smith's Bakery formerly Flowers Bakery of Spartanburg. He attended Lockhart High School and was a graduate of Union High School. Mr. Burnett was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served from 1982 to 1986. He was a member of Lockhart Free Will Baptist Church and attended Bethel United Methodist Church. Surviving in addition to his wife, mother and father are two sons, Jarrod Burnett and Kyle Burnett of the home; his step-father, James Haney of Union; two brothers, Eddie Burnett of Union and Joey Haney of Gaffney; and his paternal grandmother, Eloise Burnett of Union. Mr. Burnett was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Jesse Burnett and his maternal grandparents, Bert and Louise Capps. Funeral services will be held Friday at 3 p.m. at the S.R. JONESVILLE - Janie Antonie Lancaster Bogan Hyatt, 85, of 143 Academy St., Jonesville, widow of Marvin Hyatt, died May 9, 2002, at 2:13 a.m. in Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Hyatt was born in Union County on March 11, 1917, the daughter of the late Pinckney and Della Hyatt Lancaster. She was first married to the late Clyde E. Bogan. Mrs. Hyatt was a member of the Bogansville United Methodist Church, the Order of the Eastern Star and the V.F.W. Auxiliary. She was a graduate of West Springs High School and was retired from the C&S Cafeteria in Jonesville after 30 years of service. Surviving are two sons and a daughter-in-law, Clyde Wayne Bogan Sr. and his wife, Brenda S. Bogan of Union and Brent Lancaster Bogan of the home; four grandchildren, Wayne Bogan Jr. of Rock Hill, Robert Bogan of Central, Poppi Umberg of Spartanburg and Laura Bogan of Atlanta, Ga.; three great-grandchildren, Taylor Bogan, Alex Umberg and Ella Umberg; two step-grandchildren, Kim Lawson of Pauline and Kelly Small of Union; and five step-great-grandchildren, John David Brooks, Kannon Small, Jakob Lawson, Jordan Lawson and Kaleb Small. Born in Union, she was the daughter of the late Brooks and Etta Ward Sumner, and was preceded in death by a brother, John S. Sumner and a sister, Ruby Sumner Huwitt. She was a member of Christian Holiness Mission in Kings Mountain and was retired from Clevemont Industries, where she was a shipping clerk. Jack H. Allison, 71, of 307 Lakeview Heights, husband of Helen Gunnings Allison, died May 11, 2002, at 11:10 p.m. in Oakmont Nursing Home after an extended illness. Mr. Allison was born in Lockhart on July 29, 1930, a son of the late Robert M. Allison and Alice Ashford Allison Robinson. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Allison was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served in the United States Army and was retired from Cone Mills, Carlisle Finishing Plant, and also was retired as a security guard for Webb Forging. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Mrs. Haney was born in Waynesville, N.C., on Feb. 9, 1903, a daughter of the late John Henry Dyer and Ethel Brown Dyer. She was a member of Buffalo Baptist Church. Mrs. Haney was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Survivors are a daughter and son-in-law, Joyce H. and Vernon Abee of Union; a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and great-great-great-grandchildren. Mr. Kershaw was born in Union County on March 16, 1951, a son of Elizabeth Rozener and the late Lester Kershaw Jr. He was a graduate of Sims High School, class of 1969. Mr. Kershaw held a diversified career from manufacturing, masonry and Quality Inspector for Spartanburg Steel. He was an active member of the North Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses for 36 years. Surviving are his wife, Earleen Kershaw of the home; two sons, Kevin Eugene and Keith Kershaw of Union; a daughter, Latasha Yvette Kershaw of Union; three brothers, Lester (Grace), Michael (Cindy) and Danny (Pricilla) Kershaw of Union; and six grandchildren. Mr. Trammell was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served in the U.S. Army and was retired from United Merchants, Union Plant. Survivors include a sister, Mildred T. Tipton of Union; a brother, Marvin Trammell of Union; and two grandchildren. Mr. Trammell was predeceased by a daughter, Mollie Grossell, and two sisters, Vera Boulware Birch and Juanita Corley. She was retired from Milliken Co., Lockhart Plant and had worked as a house mother at the S.C. School for the Deaf and Blind in Spartanburg. Mrs. Vaughan is a member of Philippi Baptist Church. She was first married to the late Allen Lancaster. JONESVILLE - Charles Morris Hayes Sr., 39, husband of Tolya Johnson Hayes, of 221 Depot St., Jonesville, died May 18, 2002, from injuries received in an automobile accident. Mr. Hayes was born in Spartanburg on Jan. 14, 1963, a son of James and Shirley Folesbee Hayes of Arcadia and Morris Murph of Jacksonville, Fla. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Hayes was a graduate of Dorman High School Class of 1981 and attended Spartanburg Tech. He was employed with Clearwater Pools and Spas. Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Brandy Hayes of Duncan and Hanna Wade of the home; a son, Zach Hayes Jr. of the home; a brother, David Hayes of Lake Bowen; two sisters, Sherry Hayes of Spartanburg and Susan Steadings of Inman; a grandson, Mark Brandon Hayes of Duncan; and 13 nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Gilead Baptist Church Cemetery by the Rev. Jerry Lawson. The family will receive friends at Holcombe's Jonesville Chapel Tuesday night from 7-9. The family is at the home of his mother-in-law, Lucille Johnson, 163 Gilead Hills Drive, Jonesville. The S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Jerel Eugene Brandon, 19, of 503 McClure St., died May 19, 2002. Born in Union County on March 7, 1983, he was the son of Howard and Cathy Brandon. He was a graduate of Union High School Class of 2001. He attended Spartanburg Technical College. Jerel was a member of Union High School's 1999 and 2000 Class 3-A State Championship Football Teams. He attended Woodson Chapel Baptist Church. Surviving in addition to his parents is a sister, Shakira Brandon of Union. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Woodson Chapel Baptist Church by Minister Eric Kershaw. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the home, 503 McClure St. Mourners may stop by the funeral home to sign the guest register as there will be no viewing of the body.
