Henry Dean Price, 66, husband of Jo Ann Brown Price of 260 Woodhaven Drive, Union, died Sunday, May 26, 2002, in Wallace Thomson Hospital after a sudden illness.
Mr. Price was born in Union on July 4, 1935, a son of the late Fletcher and Bessie Sinclair Price. He was retired from Fluor Daniel Construction and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He attended Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Teala Willis of Spartanburg; a son and daughter-in-law, Tony and Rita Price of Inman; two sisters, Carolyn P. Patrick of Union and Mary Price of Jefferson City, Montana; two grandchildren, Will Price of Inman and Kristyn Willis of Spartanburg. Mr. Price was predeceased by a sister, Eva Mae Ray.
The body will remain at the funeral home where the family will receive friends Tuesday night from 7-9.
Funeral arrangements will be announced later by the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home.

Ruth Vanderford Floyd, 80, of 414 Pineland Road, died Monday, May 27, 2002, at 9:14 p.m. in Wallace Thomson Hospital. Mrs. Floyd was born in Lockhart on Sept. 22, 1921, a daughter of the late Eliza Vanderford Estes. She was a member of the Union Church of God. Mrs. Floyd was retired from Milliken & Co., Ottaray Plant. Survivors are a daughter and son-in-law, Eugenia and James McFalls of Union; a son and daughter-in-law, James and Altie P. Floyd of Union; 10 grandchildren, Rhonda M. Lee, James Leroy Floyd, Timothy Doc Floyd, Jackie Lynn Thompson, Ricky McFalls, Micky McFalls, Benji Nix, Pamela Floyd, Destiny Cippriano and Denise Cippriano; 12 great-grandchildren, Amanda, Ellen and Bryan Floyd, Brooks and O'Neal Lee, Brad, Matthew and Kaitlyn Thompson, Crystal and Tyler McFalls, Matthew and Andrew Floyd.
Mrs. Floyd was predeceased by two sons, Leroy Floyd and Ronald Wayne Floyd. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Union Church of God conducted by the Rev. Alton Stone and the Rev. Lacy Jones. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens.
After 11 a.m. Wednesday the body will be at the home of her granddaughter, Rhonda M. Lee, 513 Lakeview Heights, Union, and will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. Thursday to await the hour of service. Wayne Rogers Murphy Sr., 72, of 612 Sweetleaf Court, Cantonment, Fla., husband of Margaret Puckett Murphy, former residents of Union, died Sunday, May 26, 2002, at 2 p.m. in Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, Fla., after an extended illness.
Mr. Murphy was born in Spartanburg County on May 16, 1930, a son of the late Paul Vernon Murphy and Ida Elizabeth Rogers Murphy. He was a former member of New Life Baptist Church and a member of Rutledge Masonic Lodge #351, the American Legion and a member of the 27th Infantry, 25th Division, Wolfhounds and the South Carolina National Guard, Union Unit. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict having served in the U.S. Army and was formerly employed with Conso Products and was retired from the S.C. Department of Corrections.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter and son-in-law, Suzy M. and Dennis Linder of Pensacola, Fla.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Andrea M. Murphy of Union and Wayne Rogers Jay Murphy Jr. and Pam M. Murphy of Jonesville; two sisters, Daisy Gregory of Union and Irene Pendleton of Jonesville; four grandchildren, Kayla Murphy, Valerie Sprouse, Kacey Linder and Mandy Camby; three great-grandchildren, Tyler Belue, Eric Camby and Kyle Caldwell. Mr. Murphy was predeceased by a sister and brother, Hilda Johnson and Robert Murphy.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday at New Life Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Clarence Adkins, the Rev. Bobby Crocker and the Rev. Ron Culbertson. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens. CARLISLE - Nathaniel Joseph Chambers Sr., 62, of 205 Cottage St., Carlisle, died May 25, 2002, at his home. Born in Augusta County, Virginia, on July 18, 1939, he was the son of the late Charles A. and Frances Mansell Chambers. He received his education in the public school system of Staunton, Virginia and was employed at the United Brother Hood of Carpenters where he retired after 35 years.
Surviving are his wife, Ellen Chambers of the home; four daughters, Pamela Chambers and GiGi Williams of Washington, D.C.; Tawanda Scott and Lucille Scott Coley of Maryland; a son, Nathaniel Joseph Chambers Jr. of Washington, D.C.; three sisters, Mary E. Wood of Washington, D.C.; Hattie M. Sally and Lolita G. Godinez of Maryland; and a brother, Edward E. Lytle of Washington, D.C. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Gibson and Brown Chapel by the Rev. B.R. Wilson. Burial will be in Rosemont Cemetery. Miles Arthur Fleming Sr., 82, of 100 Tillman St., Union, husband of Nancy Knox Fleming, died May 28, 2002, at 9:19 a.m. in Wallace Thomson Hospital. Mr. Fleming was born in Union on May 11, 1920, a son of the late Gilbert Shea Fleming and Eva Farley Fleming. He was a member of the Union Church of Christ. Mr. Fleming was a retired textile employee.
Surviving in addition to his wife are three daughters, Donna Zelano of Union, Cynthia Baldwin of Lockhart and Nancy Jane Schreiber of Baltimore, Md.; two sons, Keith Fleming and Miles Arnold Fleming, both of Buffalo; three stepsons, David Jenkins, Ricky Jenkins and Timothy Jenkins, all of Union; six sisters, Lula Mae Tabaczynskie and Lee Ila Sanders, both of Chesapeake, Va., Betty Lea of Charleston, Miriam Pat Vince and Lois Gregory, both of Virginia Beach, Va., and Georgia Rose Fleming of Los Angeles, Calif.; a brother, Robert V. Fleming of Raleigh, N.C.; 17 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren. Mr. Fleming was predeceased by a brother, James I. Fleming.

Evelyn Elizabeth Adams Parks, 87, of 1005 W. Main St., widow of Horace Drayton Parks, died at her home May 29, 2002, at 8:10 a.m. after several years of declining health. Mrs. Parks was born in Union County on June 13, 1914, a daughter of the late Richard and Anna Fowler Adams.
She was a member of Duncan Acres United Methodist Church, the Mary Lybrand Sunday School Class, the Louise Brooks Circle and was a member of Martha Chapter - Order of the Eastern Star.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Rev. Jim Hord of the home; a sister, Azalee A. Lybrand of Union; five grandchildren, Amy H. Leonhardt of North Augusta, Lisa H. Layton of Southbury, Conn., Joey Parks of Buffalo, George Parks of Union and Angie P. Gregory of Buffalo; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Parks was predeceased by a son, Keith Parks; a grandson, James Hord, Jr.; three brothers, Aiken Adams, Jesse Adams and Wells Adams; and three sisters, Elsie Turner, Mary Adams and Ada Lee.

JONESVILLE - Mozell Gossett, 78, of 1217 West Springs Highway., Jonesville, widow of Flemming Gossett, died May 28, 2002, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born in Fairfield County on Aug. 6, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Sam and Amy Coleman Kirkland.
Mrs. Gossett attended the public school system of Fairfield County and was a member of Maple Ridge Baptist Church. Surviving are six daughters, Shirley R. Gossett of Jonesville, Bertha M. Gossett, Diane Gossett, Mary (Thomas) Norman, Brenda L. Gossett and Karen V. Gossett all of Union; three sons, Alex Gossett of Union, Flemming Gossett Jr. of Columbia and Douglas J. Gossett of Bennettville; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. at Maple Ridge Baptist Church by the Rev. Kenneth D. Sadler. Burial will be in the church cemetery. BUFFALO - Guynella Miller Haney, 89, of 836 Main St., Buffalo, widow of Rufus W. Haney, died May 29, 2002, at 8:26 a.m. in Wallace Thomson Hospital. Mrs. Haney was born in Duncan on Dec. 2, 1912, a daughter of the late Lonnie D. and Eva Mae Robbs Miller.
She was a member of Buffalo Baptist Church. Mrs. Haney was a retired textile employee. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Vera Jean and Billy Ray of Myrtle Beach; a son and daughter-in-law, Joe T. and Phyllis Haney of Buffalo; four sisters, Doris Campbell of Los Angeles, Calif., Ruby Feminella of Orland Park, Ill.; Betty Harris of Norfolk, Va.; and Geneva Miller of Chicago, Ill.; six grandchildren, Joey Haney, Mark Haney, Anita Branum, Andy Ray, Ben Ray and Lisa Altman; and 11 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Haney was predeceased by two sisters and three brothers, Frances Crews and Hazel Laughinghouse, Sam Miller, Lewis Miller and Frank Miller.

SPARTANBURG - James Capers Moorer, 42, of 216 Crestline Dr., Spartanburg, died May 26, 2002, after a brief illness. Mr. Moorer was the son of Mary Sims Moorer and the late James F. Moorer.
He was a member of Majority Baptist Church. Mr. Moorer was a graduate of Spartanburg High School, South Carolina State University in Orangeburg, and the School of Mortuary Science of Fayettville, N.C. He was employed with Callaham Funeral Home and Applebee's Bar and Grill.
Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Teran Butler Moorer of Greenville; three children, Janet C. Moorer of Durham, N.C.; Taylor and Travis Moorer both of Greenville; three sisters, Marilyn M. (Joseph) Raines of Charlotte, N.C.; Carol Ann Richburg of Stone Mountain, Ga. and Jamise Brunner of Union; an aunt, Lucia Riggins of Ouackertown, Pa.; a great-aunt, Ruth Wilkerson of Honea Path; two nieces; and three nephews.
Mr. Moorer was predeceased by his grandparents, the Rev. and Mrs. A.A. Sims. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Majority Baptist Church, 400 Hudson Barksdale Blvd., Spartanburg by the Rev. James L. Hailstock. Burial will be in Floyd's Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
