BUFFALO - Fred Michael "Freddie" Keisler, 42, of 111 Old Hickory Road, Buffalo, husband of Wanda Kendrick Keisler, died June 17, 2002, from injuries received in a dirt bike accident.
Born in Union on October 3, 1959, he was a son of Fred M. Keisler of Cross Hill and the late Betty Jean Brown Keisler Prince. He was a member of Fairforest Baptist Church and was self-employed. He was an umpire and coach of Dixie Youth Baseball.
Surviving in addition to his wife and father are his step-mother, Marie Keisler of Cross Hill; three daughters, Heather West, Jessica Keisler and Megan Keisler, all of the home; a son, Landon Turner of the home; a sister, Pattie Keisler Gault of Enoree; three brothers, Billy Ray Keisler of Union, Chris Keisler of Enoree and Robert Ted Keisler of Emporia, Kansas; four step-sisters, Diane Knox, Joanne Dover, Elaine Lawson and Jean Lawson; two step-brothers, Chris Prince and Jimmy Lawson; and a number of nieces and nephews. Mr. Keisler was predeceased by his step-father, J.W. Prince; his grandparents, Jesse and Edna Brown, Lawrence and Corrie Keisler and his mother and father-in-law, Jack and Ruth Kendrick.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 3 p.m. at Putman Baptist Church by the Rev. Donald Tillman. Burial will be in Fairforest Baptist Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Richard Luther, Butch Benton, Joey Winzereid, Neil Burris, Jamie McAbee and Christopher Keisler.
All Dixie Youth Baseball Officials are asked to sit in a group.
After 10 a.m. Thursday, the body will be at the home, 111 Old Hickory Rd., Buffalo, and will be placed in the church at 2 p.m Friday to await the hour of service.

Eva Wade Moody, 74, of 117 Lowe St., widow of Robert Lee Moody, died at her residence June 18, 2002, at 5:30 p.m. after a short illness.
Mrs. Moody was born in Union on Aug. 22, 1927, a daughter of the late Linder and Gertrude Bryant Wade. She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Mary Jane M. Fannon of Forest City, N.C.; a son, Robert Stanley Moody of the home; four sisters, Virginia Smith, Thelma Wix and Lucile W. Baber all of Union and Muriel W. Mitchell of Buffalo; five grandchildren, Barbara M. Gault, Laura Lovings, Susan Goins, Allison Moody and Jeffrey Fannon; two great-grandchildren, Timothy Gainey and Kathryn Gainey. Mrs. Moody was predeceased by a son, James Franklin (Jimmy) Moody and two brothers, Linder W. Wade and Roy P. Wade.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 4 p.m. at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Bobby Crocker. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens.
Active pallbearers will be Lindsey Cannon, Jimmy Beheler, Roger Dale Wade, Mark Moody, Jonathan Adams and Alan Plexico.
The body will remain at the funeral home where the family will receive friends tonight from 7-9. The family is at the home, 117 Lowe St., Union.

ORANGEBURG - Major Bert M. Farner Jr., 77, of 1511 Sunset St., Orangeburg, died June 20, 2002, at the V.A. Medical Center in Charleston. Maj. Farner was born on Oct. 26, 1924 in Union, a son of the late Bert M. Farner Sr. and the late Venette Toney Farner.
He served in the U.S. Army for 26 years and retired as a Major. He was a veteran of World War II. He was a member of the D.A.V., V.F.W., The Woodmen of the World and the Reserve Officers Club.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Vernon Dukes Farner of Orangeburg; a daughter, Deborah Law of Cayce; a son, Stanley B. Farner of Cayce; three step-sons, John Cecchini of Powder, Ga.; Frederick Cecchini of Columbia and Rosario Cecchini of Orangeburg; a brother, R.C. Farner of Union; nine step-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He was predeceased by a sister, Nathalee Johnson and a brother, W.T. Farner. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11:30 a.m. at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel in Orangeburg by Chaplain John Painter.
Burial will be in Crestlawn Memorial Gardens in Orangeburg with full military honors. Active pallbearers will be U.S. Military. Friends may call the funeral home. Robert E. Gentry, 77, of 474 Center Rd., widower of Ethel Bennett Gentry, died at his residence June 20, 2002, at 8 p.m. after several years of declining health. Mr. Gentry was born in Pacolet Mills on June 20, 1925, a son of the late David and Lizzie Bentley Gentry.
He was a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church. Mr. Gentry was a graduate of Pacolet High School, he was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army in Germany and Panama Canal, and retired in 1985 as Sgt. with the South Carolina National Guards, Pacolet Unit. Mr. Gentry was retired from Kohler Company and was formerly employed with Lockhart Power Company. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Surviving are two daughters, Cheryl Moody of the home and Mrs. Richard (Elizabeth) Murphy of Equador, South America; three sons, Robert David Gentry and Reuben B. Gentry both of Union and Charles E. Gentry of the home; 12 grandchildren, Valleri Weatherby, Barbara Gault, Robbie Gentry, Laura Lovings, Jennifer Steppe, Alisha Cantrell, Amber Gentry, Brandon Gentry, Tamara Gentry, Heather Gentry, R. Jacob Gentry and Roger Murphy; and five great-grandchildren, Sara Ann Weatherby, Zack Weatherby, Timothy Gainey, Kathryn Gainey and Kailee Steppe. The family is at the home, 474 Center Rd., Union, and will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday night from 7-9.

Carolyn Baker Payne, 62, died June 20, 2002. Miss Payne was born in Clinton, a daughter of the late Harry C. Payne Jr. and Martha Susan (Sue) Beasley Payne. She graduated from Columbia College and did post graduate studies at the University of South Carolina.
She retired from Richland School District #1 as a high school librarian. Miss Payne was chosen as a Fullbright Scholar and studied in Pakistan. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.
Surviving are a nephew, Harry C. Payne IV and his wife, Krissa S. Payne, of York; a niece and her husband, Rebecca P. and Eddie Berberich of Rock Hill; three great-nephews; and one great-niece. She was predeceased by a brother, Harry C. Payne III. Graveside services will be held Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Layton Wilson Lamb, 89, of 110 Crestview Dr., died June 23, 2002, in Oakmont Nursing Home after an extended illness. Mr. Lamb was born in Union on Dec. 4, 1912, a son of the late Joseph Layton and Mary Ellen Lee Lamb.
He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, a Mason and a member of the American Legion. Mr. Lamb was a graduate of Union High School and was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Lamb was a retired manager of Graham Cash Company, Union Store where he was employed for over 50 years.
He was first married to the late Sadie Elizabeth West Lamb. Surviving are his wife, Nettie C. Lamb of Greenville; two daughters and their husbands, Beth Lamb and Melvin D. Timmons of Seneca, and Marianne Lamb and Ralph F. Martino of Westport, Conn.; a son and his wife, Layton West Lamb Sr. and Ruth Lamb of Charlotte, N.C.; three sisters, Carrie Lee Lancaster of West Springs, Hazel Lamb Bennett of Spartanburg and Ruth Lamb Gregory of Union; a brother, Ralph Hamilton Lamb of Campobello; eight grandchildren, Mary Beth Timmons Yates of Anderson, Melvin DuRant Timmons III of Columbia, Matthew Wesley Martino of Charlotte, N.C.; Ryan Taylor Martino of Charleston, Wesley Taylor Martino of Burlington, N.C.; Kyle Hunter Martino of Columbus, Ohio; Maria Bethany Martino of Westport, Conn.; Layton West Lamb Jr. of Concord, N.C.; a great-grandson, Gaines Wilson Yates of Anderson; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Grace United Methodist Church by the Rev. Gary Byrd. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as active pallbearers. Mr. Thomas was born in Summerville, West Va., on Dec. 25, 1977, a son of Susan McCutcheon Heatherly of the home and Ronnie Thomas of Atlanta, Ga. He was a 1996 graduate of Jonesville High School and a 2000 graduate of Clemson University. He was a member of West Springs Baptist Church.
Mr. Thomas was employed as an investment consultant with Merrill Lynch of Atlanta, Ga. SPARTANBURG - Arlo Wilkerson Whitener, 88, of 3105 Longbow Drive, died June 23, 2002 at Mary Black Hospital. He was co-owner of Whitener Brothers Lumber Co. in Jonesville until 1965.

Fannie Mae Willard Hawkins, 86, of Ellen Sagar Nursing Home, widow of Charles Franklin Hawkins, died June 26, 2002, at 11:15 p.m. after an extended illness. Mrs. Hawkins was born in Union on March 27, 1916, a daughter of the late Calvin and Lonnie Willard. She was a member of Fairforest Baptist Church and was retired from United Merchants, Union Plant.
Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Loretta and Gene Becknell of Union and Barbara and Pat Kerr of Jonesville; a sister, Sallie W. Oliver of Asheboro, N.C.; six grandchildren, Frank Becknell, Marie Becknell Knox, David Becknell, Steve Kerr, Brett Kerr and Mike Kerr; and five great-grandchildren, Justin Knox, Chris Knox, Kelley Becknell, Cheyanne Kerr, and Ethan Scott Kerr. Mrs. Hawkins was predeceased by a great-grandchild, Andrew Kerr.

BUFFALO James Edward (Fuzzy) Vinson, 63, husband of Lorene Boulware Vinson, of 130 Hill St., Buffalo, died at his home at an early hour Wednesday morning after a sudden illness. Mr. Vinson was born in Buffalo on Oct. 6, 1938, a son of the late James Edward Vinson Sr. and Agatha Millwood Vinson. He was a member of Buffalo United Methodist Church and was retired from United Merchants, Buffalo Plant.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a son and daughter-in-law, James Eric (Peanut) Vinson and April Denise Vinson of Buffalo; a sister, Carolyn Austin of Union; and two grandchildren, Kayla Denise Vinson and Erica Kaitlyn Vinson both of Buffalo. Graveside services will be held Friday at 3 p.m. at Union Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Jerry Lawson and Rev. Johnny Burgess.
