CORNELIA, Ga. — Vira Brewer Payne Podmanicky, 96, of Cornelia died Monday, Nov. 4, 2002, at a private nursing home.
Born in Habersham County, she was a member of the Level Grove Baptist Church.
Surviving are daughters, Betty Zinke of Cornelia and Alma Groom of Panama City, Fla.; sons, Howard Payne of Clarkesville and William Payne of Cornelia; sister, Maggie Brewer Wiley of Lula; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
She was the widow of John Podmanicky and the daughter of the late Will and Louvina Jenkins Brewer. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Francis Berkley Payne; a son, Eddie Podmanicky; and a daughter, Edna McAllister.
Services are at 11 a.m. Thursday from the Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, by the Revs. Billy Burrell and Raymond Payne; burial will follow in the Level Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday.

ANDERSON — Melissa Ann Parham, 32, of 316 W. Roosevelt Drive died Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2002, in Anderson.
Born in Anderson, she was a sales associate with Wal-Mart.
Surviving are widower, Nicholas Damion Jenson of Anderson; sons, Justine Blake Parham and Tyler Parham, both of Anderson; daughter, Leslie DeAnn Parham of Anderson; parents, Jerry Joe Tillman and Patricia Ann Timms Duncan, both of Anderson; and sisters, Teresa Eps and Jolene Wickham, both of Pendleton, Wanda Hudgens of Anderson and Sheila Tillman of Iva.
She was preceded in death by two sisters.
Services are at 2 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Woodlawn Funeral Home by the Revs. Robert Kelley and John Black; burial will be in South Lawn Memorial Gardens. The body is at Woodlawn Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
The family will be at the home of her mother, Patricia Duncan, 204 Amy St.

LITTLETON, Colo. — Jo Ellen Murphy Masters, 69, of 1672 W. Canal Circle, wife of 50 years to Curtis Lee Masters, died Saturday, Nov. 2, 2002, at Cherrelyn Health Care, Littleton.
Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late Albert Maden and Lucille Geneva Hayes Murphy. She was formerly employed by Daniel International Engineering, where she was executive project secretary and a member of Guthrie Grove Church of God of the Abrahamic Faith, Pelzer, where she was church secretary for many years and taught the fourth-, fifth-, and sixth-grade Sunday School classes.
Surviving are her husband of the home; son, Timothy Michael Masters of Littleton; daughter, Joy Lajuan Busby of Littleton; brothers, R. Durane Murphy of Belton, Jerry F. Murphy of Anderson; sister, Dortha ‘‘Dot'' Spearman of Simpsonville; and grandchildren, Kate Masters, Ben Masters, Justin Herd, Alexandra Herd and Kayla Busby.
Funeral services will be 11b a.m. Thursday at Guthrie Grove Church of God of the Abrahamic Faith, Pelzer, by Pastor Ed Bender and Elder Joe James. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

SENECA — James Francis White Sr., 86, of 102 Seven Oaks Drive died Sunday, Nov. 3, 2002, at the Oconee Memorial Hospital.
Born in Chicago, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II and a retired purchasing agent for the Hyatt Hotels.
Surviving are son, James F. White Jr. of Seneca; sister, Elaine Werling of Rolling Meadows, Ill.; and two grandchildren.
He was the son of the late James F. White and Virginia Maurine Steele White.

TAYLORS — Ruby C. Waters, 96, widow of Rufus Waters, died November 4, 2002, at Laurels of Hendersonville.
Born in Hart County, Ga., on April 13, 1906, she was a daughter of the late Andy and Dutith Cleveland Crawford. She was a homemaker, an excellent cook, loved flowers and sewing quilts, which she gave to family and friends. She was a member of Lee Road Baptist Church of Taylors and formerly of the Whitefield Community of Belton.
Mrs. Waters is survived by daughters, Jean Sargent of Taylors, Mary and her husband, Ted Burgess of Belton; sons and daughters-in-law, Gerald and Faye Waters of Belton, Mahlon and Margaret Waters of Taylors; daughter-in-law, Helen Waters of Belton; son-in-law, Holland McAbee of Taylors; brother, Tom Crawford of Greer; sisters, Lexie Waters of Greenville, Dolly Watkins of Laurens; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
Mrs. Waters was predeceased by a son, David Waters, Sr.; a daughter, Betty McAbee; and a son-in-law, William F. Sargent.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Whitefield Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Ralph Hefner, Dr. Jim Smith and the Rev. Clarence Howard. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will the grandsons.
Visitation will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Wood Mortuary. The family is at the home of a son, Mahlon Waters, 8 Elberta Street, Taylors.

WILLIAMSTON — Salomon Reyes, 45, of 121 W. Second St., died Saturday, Nov. 2, 2002, at his home.
The body will be shipped to Honduras for burial.

HENRY G. LUNCEFORD
ELBERTON, GA. -- Henry G. Lunceford, 81, of 198 S. Thomas St. died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2005, at Elbert Memorial Hospital.
Born in Wilkes County, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, where he sang in the choir for many years. He was a member of the Philomathea Masonic Lodge and served on the Elberton City Council for 14 years.
Surviving are his wife, Vivian Lunceford of the home; daughters, Gail Phillips of Ackworth and Betty Jo Boyd of Elberton; brothers, Gene Lunceford of Elberton, Lanier Lunceford and Bob Lunceford, both of Hartwell; sister, Pat Cobo of Newnan; and six grandchildren.
He was the son of the late Luther Sanders Lunceford and Ethel Dickens Lunceford. He was preceded in death by a son, Henry 'Butch' Lunceford; and brothers, Edward, Mell, and Bonnie Lunceford.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at the First Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 1 until 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Hicks Funeral Home, prior to the service. CHARLES W. WADE

TOCCOA, GA. -- Charles W. Wade, 86, of Toccoa died Friday, Jan. 14, 2005, at Stephens County Hospital.
Born in McCool, Miss., he had lived in Toccoa for the last 23 years. He was a World War II U.S. Air Force veteran and retired from the Air Force as a tech sergeant. His unit was the first convoy deployed after Pearl Harbor. He was also the purchasing agent for Stephens County Hospital for several years and a member of First Alliance Church and an elder of the church.
Surviving are widow, Ruth Josephsen Wade of the home; daughter, Jan Baber of Toccoa; sons, the Rev. James Wade of Memphis, Tenn., Ron Wade of Toccoa and Donald Wade of Plant City, Fla.; sister, Susye Parrish of Denver City, Texas; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was the son of the late Richard and Myrtle Johnson Wade. He was preceded in death by four brothers.
Graveside services are at 3 p.m. Monday at Stephens Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Ed Pottorff officiating. A memorial will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the First Alliance Church with the Rev. Robert Thomas officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday from 3 p.m. until the service.

A native of Cumming, Ga., she was a retired employee of the Dawson County School District and was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are daughter, Jackie Pate of Seneca; sister, Edith Dodd of Murrayville, Ga.; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was the widow of Steve McClure and the daughter of the late Jackson Lafayette and Florence Treadway Smith.

ANDERSON — Mr. Harold R. Lowery, 69, of 105 Garden Gate, Anderson, died Sunday, November 3, 2002, at the Anderson Area Medical Center in Anderson.
Born in Ninety Six, on November 28, 1932, Mr. Lowery was the son of the late James L. and Viola C. Lowery. He was a graduate of the University of South Carolina School of Law. Admitted to the bar, 1961, South Carolina, he also was admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court; the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth, Fifth and Eleventh Circuits; the United States District Court for the District of South Carolina and the United States Court of Claims. He was cited in the National Law Journal, 1981; a member of "Who's Who in American Law,"; "Marquis Who's Who in American Law.'' American Trial Lawyers' Association; South Carolina Trial Lawyer's Association; National Criminal Defense Association, American Society of Law and Medicine; South Carolina Bar, Family Law Section; Founding member, South Carolina Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers; Founding Master Member of Anderson Inn of Court; past attorney for the City of Williamston and a member of the Anderson County Bar Association. Mr. Lowery was a practicing attorney in Anderson for 32 years. He was an U.S. Army Korean War veteran and served in the Security Agency for three years. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
Surviving are widow, June Wells Lowery of the home; daughter, Eve L. Joy and her husband, Michael of Anderson; son, Captain James Thomas Lowery, U.S. Marine Corps and his wife, Leigh Ann, of Twenty-Nine Palms, Calif.; five grandchildren, Harold Thomas Walker, Brandon Mitchell Joy, Ashleigh Marie Joy, William James Lowery and Coral Katelyn Lowery; brother, James A. Lowery of Saluda.
Services will be held on Wednesday, November 6, 2002, at Trinity United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Frank Lybrand officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, Anderson.
