Lois C. Satterwhite
Retired hospital employee

GREENVILLE - Lois Coleman Satterwhite, 77, of 721 S. Washington Ave., Greenville, died July 13, 2002, at Greenville Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Satterwhite was born in Newberry County, a daughter of the late Otis and Pearl Joyner Coleman.

She retired from Greenville Memorial Hospital after 40 years of service. Mrs. Satterwhite was a member of Sims Chapel Baptist Church in Whitmire.

Surviving are her husband, Johnny C. Satterwhite of the home; two daughters, Nancy Marie Satterwhite of the home and Pearl L. Coleman Bryant of Greenville; a son, John H. Coleman of Greenville; a step-son, Johnny Walker of Clinton; four granddaughters; one grandson; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Elizabeth (Sumter) Rice of Union; one brother, Otis (Dorothy) Coleman, Jr. of Detroit, Mich.; a brother-in-law, Ellis Satterwhite of Greenville; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Sims Chapel Baptist Church in Whitmire. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 today. The body will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. Wednesday to await the hour of service. Hunter's Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Woodrow W. Davis Sr.
Owner Davis Trucking

WEST COLUMBIA - Services for Woodrow W. Davis, Sr., 83, of West Columbia will be held at 2 p. m. Thursday in Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church, conducted by Rev. Dr. Howard Sweat and Rev. Dr. Ken Colton.

Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mr. Davis grandsons, Mark Davis, Jody Davis, Tim Davis, Scott Davis, Stanley Davis and lee Pearce. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p. m. tonight at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington.

Memorials may be made to Mt. Hebron united Methodist Church or the American Diabetes Association. Mr. Davis died Monday, July 15, 2002. Born in Union, he was the son of Harley Alfred and Ella Carver Davis. Formerly of Union, he had been a Columbia area resident since 1946.

He was a member of Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church and was owner-operator of Woodrow Davis Trucking.

Surviving are his wife, Ruth Davis of the home; daughter and special friend, Lisa Davis and Sandy Kolb of West Columbia; sons and daughters-in-law, Woodrow W. Davis Jr. and Marie Davis of Lexington, Wayne and Joyce Davis of West Columbia, Roger E. and Linda Davis of Columbia; a brother, Alfred J. Davis of Pelion; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington has charge of arrangements.

Robert Lee Gregory
Former Rosemont employee

Robert Lee (Bud) Gregory, 59, husband of Linda Barber Gregory, of 158 Lawson Road, died Tuesday morning at 9 a.m. at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center from injuries received in an automobile accident.

Mr. Gregory was born in Enoree on May 14, 1943, a son of Robert Lee Manley of Dickson, Tenn. and the late Myrtle Sherbert Gregory. He was a member of Welcome Baptist Church and was formerly employed with Spartan Mills, Rosemont Plant in Jonesville.

Surviving in addition to his wife and father are two daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa and Eddie Lane and April and Rev. Lynn Ford, all of Union; a step-son and daughter-in-law, Mickey and Wanda Fleming of Union; six grandchildren, Kyle, Kristi, and Katie Ford, Chris and Michael Fleming and Tyler P. Lane; three half-sisters, Robbie, Pat and Beverly Manley and a half-brother, DeWayne Manley, all of Dickson, Tenn.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Friday at Welcome Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Robert Jarvis. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens. The body will remain at the funeral home where the family will receive friends Thursday night from 7-9 and will be placed in church at 3 p.m. Friday to await the hour of service.

The family is at the home, 158 Lawson Road, Union. The S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Robert Lee Gregory
Former Rosemont employee

The family is at the home, 158 Lawson Road, Union. The S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Sharon Ann Meadows
Union native

Funeral services for Sharon Ann (Sha) Meadows, 37, wife of Reginald Meadows, will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Cedar Grove Baptist Church by the Rex. Eddie McCall. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Meadows was born July 3, 1965 in Union, a daughter of Lois M. Nash and John Fowler. She was a 1983 graduate of Jonesville High School and a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church where she was president of the mixed choir and vice-president of the Gospel Chorus.

Surviving in addition to her husband, mother and father are her step-father, Henry Brewton of Jonesville; four sisters, Hilda (Robert) Humphries of Union, Darlene (Joe) Gage of Jonesville, Shynett (Jimmy) Davis of Jonesville and Ann Nash of Spartanburg; five brothers, Willie L. (Helen) Nash, Ervin (Ann) Nash of Spartanburg, Randy (Jamette) Nash of Newberry, Kerlize (Teresa) Nash of Jonesville, Stacey (Linda) Nash of Newberry; two children, Adrian and Brittany, reared in the home; grandmother, Ella Davis of Jonesville.

The Union Community Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Ferol S. Bell
Retired from Union Mill

Mary Ferol Sparks Bell, 74, widow of John Bell of 217 Old English Road, Union, died at her home Friday, July 19, 2002, at 6:15 a. m. after an extended illness.

Mrs. Bell was born in Union on Jan. 24, 1928, a daughter of the late Charles and Mary Mayo Sparks. She was a member of the Morningside Baptist Church and was retired from United Merchants, Union Plant.

Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Dennis Gregory, Janice and Glenn Smith, all of Union and Donna and Joe Peclet of Simpsonville; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Lisa Bell of Jonesville; a sister, Betty Lou Fowler of Union; a brother, Charles Harold Sparks of Laurens; three grandchildren, Crystal Boulware, Todd Smith and Ashley Tyler all of Union and eight great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Bell was predeceased by a grandson, Michael Ingle. Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Sunday at Morningside Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Eddie Saxon. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens.

The body will remain at the funeral home where the family will receive friends Saturday night from 7 until 9 and will be placed in church at 2 p.m. Sunday to await the hour of service. The family is at the home, 217 Old English Road, Union. The S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Sharon A. Meadows
Union native

Sharon Ann Nash Meadows died July 15, 2002. A native of Union, she was a daughter of Lois M. Nash and John Fowler, and the wife of Reginald Meadows. A 1983 graduate of Jonesville High School, she was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church, where she was president of the mixed choir and vice president of the gospel chorus.

Surviving in addition to her husband and parents are four sisters, Hilda Humphries, Darlene Gage, Shynette Davis and Ann Nash, four brothers, Willie Nash Jr., Ervin Nash, Randy Nash, Kerlinzo Nash and Stacey Nash; two children reared in the home, Adrian Nash and Brittany Nash; two stepsisters, four stepbrothers, a grandmother, Ella Davis, and a stepfather, Henry Brewton.

Funeral services were held at 2 p. m. today at Cedar Grove Baptist Church in Jonesville. Burial was in the church cemetery. The body was placed in the church at 1 p. m. Union Community Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Bobby Ray Smith
Union native

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. - Bobby Ray (Babe) Smith, 70, of 211 Blackwelder St., Kannapolis, N.C., died July 17, 2002, at Universal Healthcare of Concord, N.C. Mr. Smith was born in Union County on Dec. 2, 1931, a son of the late Howard Peale Smith and Carrie Belle Humphries Smith. He was education in Union County Schools and retired from the Town of Landis, N.C.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ruby Pennel Smith of Concord, N.C.; two sons, Robert Dion (Smitty) Smith and Robert Dillon Smith both of Landis, N.C.; a daughter, Mrs. Darma S. Kates of Wilmington, N.C.; two step-sons, Thomas Brown of Wilmington, N.C. and Donald Brown of San Antonio, Texas; two step daughters, Mrs. Reba King of Concord, N.C. and Mrs. Linda Lee Stewart of Wilmington, N.C.; two sisters, Mrs. Jean Riseley of West Palm Beach, Fla. and Mrs. Inez Sparks of Laurens; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held tonight at Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home in Landis, N.C. The family will receive friends at the funeral home tonight from 6:30-8:30. A graveside service will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Rosemont Cemetery in Union by the Rev. Joe Baldwin.
