Habersham, and Ms. Tajuana Harrison, four grandchildren, brothers and sisters, Mrs. Victoria H. Stokes (Rev. DRIGGERS, Sr., Phillip
Phillip Driggers, Sr., 81, of Summerville, S.C., died Monday, October 8, 2001, at a local hospital.
Funeral services will be held at Ridge Baptist Church on Thursday afternoon, October 11, 2001, at 12 noon. Burial will be held at Plantation Memorial Gardens. Mr. Driggers was born on November 26, 1919, in Summerville, a son of the late Charlie and Nattie Driggers. He was a retired carpenter for Carolina Ladder. he was a member of Ridge Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Florence Burbage Driggers of Summerville; daughter, Gerri Laws of Summerville; two sons, Phillip Driggers, Jr., of Summerville, and Raymond Driggers of Jacksonville, Fla.; sister, Nattie Lee Owens of Summerville; brother, Czernie Driggers of Summerville; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

GARRIS, Joseph
Joseph Rembert "J.R." Garris, 86, of Charleston, owner of J.R. Garris Floor Sanding Co., died Monday in a Charleston hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, in Carolina Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Carolina Memorial Gardens. Born in St. George, he was the son of Joseph Benjamin Garris and Lula Fogle Garris. Mr. Garris was Charleston's premiere floor finisher for more than 50 years and trained many of the floor finishers in the area. He was a member of Windsor Baptist Church. Mr. Garris was preceded in death by his wife, Janie Collins Garris.
Survivors include a daughter, Brenda Heaton of James Island; sons, Randy Garris of Charleston, Danny Garris of Summerville and Grady Garris of Mt. Pleasant; a siter, Ertelle Smoak of St. Matthews; six grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

Evelyn Grayson Goodman, 88, of South Carolina Episcopal Home at Still Hopes, West Columbia, formerly of Hollywood, S.C., died Monday in a West Columbia hospital.

Born on August 7, 1913, in Colleton County, a daughter of the late W. Francis Grayson and Sarah Martin "Sallie" Grayson. She was a 1934 graduate of Winthrop University. She was a retired school teacher. She was past president of St. Paul's Exchange Club Auxiliary, Past Worthy Matron of Carolina Chapter of Order of the Eastern Star, Meggett, S.C., Past Member of St. Paul's Garden Club, Past President of WMU and was a Sunday School Teacher at Calvary Baptist Church.
She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Meggett, S.C., since 1926.
Surviving are, four sons and daughters-in-law, Edwin M. Mr. Aleshire was born Tuesday, September 23, 1930 in Baltimore, MD., the son of William Bryan and Louise Wagner Aleshire. He was a US Navy Veteran of the Korean Conflict and a Agent for Penn National Insurance Company. Mr. Aleshire was predeceased by a brother, Glenn Aleshire. WALTERBORO - Kathe Strempel Thomas, 82, of 210 Academy Road died Tuesday at Colleton Place. A private memorial service will be held at a later date according to the Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Home.
Mrs. Thomas was born in Liegnitz, Germany, a daughter of the late Richard Strempel and Ida Scholz Strempel.
Surviving are her husband, Frederick M. Thomas of Walterboro, a daughter and son-in-law, Karen T. and Randolph L. Bunton; three grandchildren, Carol B. Grant, Susan B. Haynes and Randolph L. "Randy" Bunton, Jr.; five great-grandchildren, Heather B. Grant, Eric Bunton, Jami Bunton, Sarah C. Haynes and Rebecca H. Haynes, and a sister, Hanni Klunder of Duisburg, Germany.

JACKSONBORO - Gene Oliver Cone, 64, died Tuesday, October 9, 2001 at a local Charleston hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Cottageville United Methodist Church, conducted by Rev. Wayne Major and Rev. Walt Ballenger. Interment will be in Cottageville Cemetery, directed by the Fred Parker Funeral Home.
Mr. Cone was born October 23, 1936 in Cottageville, a son of the late Capers Oliver Cone and Mary Ackerman Cone. He was married to Mary Anne Turner Cone for the past 44 years. He graduated from the Citadel in 1958, retired from L.B.C. & W. Architects and Engineers, Columbia, SC and was present owner of Cone Properties, Columbia, SC. He resided at Beanstik On The Edisto, Jacksonboro, SC for the past 17 years.
He was a charter member of Windsor United Methodist Church, Columbia, SC and at present, an active member of Cottageville United Methodist Church.
Survivors including his wife of Jacksonboro are daughters and son-in-law, Stephanie Cone Fuller and Andrew Fuller of Ridgeville, SC, Pamela Anne Dennis of Cottageville; son and daughter-in-law, Gene O. Cone II and Laurie Cone of Columbia, SC and six grandchildren, Gene Oliver Cone, III, Jane McKenzie Cone, Andrew Corbin Fuller, II, Savannah Clay Fuller, Gracyn Turner Fuller and Luka Alexandra Dennis.
