GARRIS, Joseph
Joseph Rembert "J.R." Garris, 86, of Charleston, owner of J.R. Garris Floor Sanding Co., died Monday in a Charleston hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, in Carolina Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Carolina Memorial Gardens. Born in St. George, he was the son of Joseph Benjamin Garris and Lula Fogle Garris. Mr. Garris was Charleston's premiere floor finisher for more than 50 years and trained many of the floor finishers in the area. He was a member of Windsor Baptist Church. Mr. Garris was preceded in death by his wife, Janie Collins Garris.
Survivors include a daughter, Brenda Heaton of James Island; sons, Randy Garris of Charleston, Danny Garris of Summerville and Grady Garris of Mt. Pleasant; a sister, Ertelle Smoak of St. Matthews; six grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

WEBSTER, Aaron
FLORENCE, S.C. - Aaron Hayes Webster, 27, of Brandon Woods Road, Florence, S.C., died Tuesday evening, October 9, 2001, in a Florence hospital from injuries sustained in an automobile accident near Florence.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, in St. Luke's Lutheran Church conducted by Rev. Henry Moody, Pastor.
The family will receive friends immediately following the services at the church and other times at the residence of A.W. and Louise Goins, 4708 Lawson Grove Road, Timmonsville, S.C.
Mr. Webster was born in Columbia, S.C., a son of Richard R. and Barbara Wells Webster. He was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church and was employed as Zone Manager in the Circulation Department of the Florence Morning News.
Surviving are his wife, Laura Rogers Webster of Florence, S.C.; two children, Abigail Tera Webster and Alistair Evon Coleburn, both of the home; parents, Richard P. and Barbara Wells Webster of Dover, N.H.; maternal grandmother, Anne Wells of Columbia, S.C.; paternal grandmother, Grace Webster of Ocala, Fla.

Petty Officer 1st Class Virgil Ellis, Jr., U.S. Navy Ret., 74, of Goose Creek, died Tuesday in a North Charleston hospital. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday in Carolina Memorial Funeral Home. Entombment will follow in Carolina Memorial Gardens. Born in Kershaw, he was the son of Virgil Ellis, Sr. and Edna Hudson Ellis. Mr. Ellis was a former employee of the State Ports Authority Security Staff. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. Mr. Ellis was a Protestant.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Reid Ellis; daughters, Edna Reid of Baltimore, MD, Susan Ellis and Patricia Hessiltine both of Goose Creek; sons, Timothy Ellis and William Ellis both of Goose Creek; a sister, Helen Ingram of Lancaster; a brother, Emmett Ellis of California and five grandchildren.
