LODGE - Evelyn Walters, 70, of Lodge, died November 7, 2001.The funeral will be on Sunday, November 11, 2001, in the McCune Branch Baptist Church at 3 p.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery.Ms. Walters, a daughter of the late Rufus and Vernell Glover, was born in Colleton County and attended the public schools there. FERGUSON, Donna
Donna M. Fender Ferguson, age 55, died on November 4, 2001. She was born in Kearny, Neb., raised in Bamberg, S.C., she resided the past 24 years in Newark, Del., previously she resided in Victoria, Texas.A homemaker, she ran a daycare in her home in her earlier years. She was a graduate of Bamberg High School in Bamberg, S.C. She received her BA in music at North Greenville Junior College. Afterwards, she attended Carson-Newman College where she continued to major in music.Devoted to her church, she was a Charter member at the Glasgow Reformed Presbyterian Church for 14 years, beginning when the church was formed in 1987. She taught women's bible study and also taught the youth group with her husband. She was heavily involved in the White House Conference on Families in 1978 and 1979 and the Stop ERA movement and received the Eagle Forum Award for her work. She enjoyed gardening, playing the piano, and was an avid music lover. She enjoyed gardening, playing the piano, and was an avid music lover. She enjoyed spending time with her family including her grandchildren and decorating her home with country memorabilia and crafts.Beloved wife of Douglas J. Ferguson, devoted mother of Kimberly I. Creek, Kerrie Ferguson-Willey and Chuck E. Ferguson. Also survived by her parents, Wilton and Anne Holliday Fender; a brother, Jerry Fender; and will be missed sadly by her six grandchildren, Matthew, Wesley, Elisabeth, Markie, Molly and Emma Marie, and a niece, Mary Beth Fender, who is the daughter of her deceased mother, Mark Fender who died in 1988. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.A Memorial Service was conducted Friday at 7 p.m., at Glasgow Reformed Presbyterian Church, Rt. 896 Bear, Delaware. Funeral arrangements were made by the Pagano Funeral Home, Inc. 3711 Fould Road, Bethel, Pa.Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 11, 2001, at 2 p.m. at Hunters Chapel Baptist Church. Nelson E. Contreras, Sr., of Summerville, died Thursday, November 8, at a local hospital. He is survived by his wife, Mireya Adame Contreras, a son, Nelson Contreras, Jr., two daughters, Yolanda Morillo and Anna Contreras, a brother, Pedro Contreras, two sisters, Fefa Pastor and Maria Elidia Contreras, eight grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Thomas Earl Jowers, 75, of Ladson, a retired masonary contractor, died Thursday at his home. Funeral service will be held at 3:00 P.M. Saturday in CAROLINA MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME. Entombment will follow in Carolina Memorial Gardens. Born in Lake City, he was the son of William I. Jowers and Leila Evans Jowers. Mr. Jowers was a member of The First Southern Methodist Church in Summerville. He was a member of Quail Unlimited.Survivors include his wife, Nadine Daniels Jowers; a daughter, Sonia Jowers Zwick of North Charleston; sons, William E. RICHBURG, SC. - Mrs. Corrie Lee Zeigler Miller, age 92, of 120 S. Main Street, Richburg, SC., died Thursday, at The Sunshine Village in Rock Hill, SC. Born July 10, 1909 in Bamburg, SC. She was a daughter of the late James Zeigler and the late Martha Murray Zeigler. She was the widow of Cecil P. Miller.Mrs. Miller was the oldest member of The Lando Baptist Church and was a former member of The Dorchester Waylyn Baptist Church, where she served as Sunday school teacher and within The Homebound Ministry; she was a past member of Senior Services in Edgemoor and was a member of The Ladies Bible Class And Women In Mission of The Lando Baptist Church.Surviving: Daughter and son-in-law, Mrs. James (Jeanie) Turner of Richburg, SC., son and daughter-in-law, Hershel and Geraldine Miller of Goose Creek, SC., and Johnnie I. Mr. Croft was born Aug. 25, 1947, in Moncks Corner, SC, a son of Otis Herman Croft and Wilma Wrenn Orvin.
Surviving are his mother of St. Stephen; his step-father, Oliver J. Orvin of St. Stephen; one brother, Scott E. Yarbrough of St. Stephen; one sister, Patsy E. Yarbrough of St. Stephen; and four nieces and two nephews.
