Mrs. Lambert was born in Canton, Ohio, the daughter of Eugene T. Bauman and Mary Bailey Bauman. She was a former employee of Richland County Library. She was an affiliate member of Summerville Presbyterian Church. She was a graduate of Ohio State. She taught at West Virginia University and was a member of the Ohio State Alumni Association. She was a member and president of Presbyterian Women, and served as an elder at Eastminster Presbyterian Church in Columbia, SC.
Surviving are three daughters, Cris Lambert Smith of Atascadero, CA., Patricia L. Burnham of Los Gatos, CA., and Janice L. Morgan of Charleston, SC; two sisters, Nancy Durnford of Toledo, Ohio and Ann Bauman of Columbus, Ohio and seven grandchildren.

BRANCHVILLE - Mr. Gerald A. Thompson, Sr., born January 26, 1928, in Branchville, died Monday, November 12, 2001.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Wednesday, November 14, at the Prospect Southern Methodist Church in Branchville with the Rev. Bobby Ethridge, Minister Jerry C. Thompson, and Rev. Charles B. Hopkins officiating. Interment will follow at the Thompson Cemetery.
Mr. Thompson was born in Branchville, a son of the late Richard Jesse and Mamie Crook Thompson.
Survived by his wife of 52 years, Mrs. Villa D. Thompson of the home, one son, G. Atmar Thompson, Jr., and wife Tracy of Chattanooga, Tenn., two daughters, Cindy T. Horton, and husband Bob of Orangeburg, Valerie T. Funchess and husband Don of Rowesville, two brothers, R. Ernest Thompson and Heyward Thompson, both of Branchville, two sisters, Emma Mae Murray of Grover, and Gaynell Cannon of Columbia, one foster sister, Lula Mildred Baker of Harleyville, four grandchildren, Laura Maynor, Casie Horton, Alex Funchess, and Jessie Funchess, and a number of nieces and nephews. Proceeded in death by three brothers, Robert T. Thompson, Loyd M. Thompson, and Bert A. Thompson.
Mr. Thompson was a graduate of Branchville High School. He served with the U.S. Army in Korean Conflict. He retired as a Rural Mail Carrier and a farmer as well as retiring with 20 years of service as an Orangeburg County Magistrate. He was a member of the Prospect Southern Methodist Church where he served as a Trustee, Chairman of the Board of Stewards, and Chairman of the Finance Committee, the Eastern Carolina Baseball League, the School District #8 Board of Trustees, the Branchville Masonic Lodge #110, where he was Past Master, the Orangeburg Scottish Rite, Omar Shrine Temple of Charleston, the Cattle Creek Campground Board of Trustees, and the Orangeburg B.P.O.E.

KIMBALL, Dale
Dale Albert Kimball, 65, of Sullivan's Island, died Friday, November 9, at his residence. Mr. Kimball was born December 9, 1935, in Grand Island, Neb., to Wayne Kimball and Lula Beyersdorf Kimball. He attended schools in Nebraska. Mr. Kimball was a veteran of the Korean Conflict where he served as paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division. Mr. Kimball was employed as Public Safety Officer for Patriots Point. He was retired from the Isle of Palms Police Department and from AT&T as a warehouse manager. He was a Catholic and a member of Stella Maris Catholic Church.
Mr. Kimball was predeceased by his wife, Carole Ann Austin Kimball, and a brother, Kenneth Kimball. He is survived by a sister, Betty Lohmann of Kearney, Neb., a sister-in-law, Sharon M. Heneghan of DesPlaines, Ill., a niece, Maureen Ann Heneghan of DesPlaines, Ill., a nephew, Michael P. Heneghan of Chicago, Ill., and several other nieces and nephews, and very close friends, David and Cathy Fox, among many others.

JAGO, Norman
Norman S. Jago, formerly of Charleston, age 75, died Saturday, November 10, 2001, at a Canton, Ga., hospital following a short illness. Born in Port Arthur, Ontario, Canada, he served in the Royal Canadian Army Paratrooper Corps. Following his military service, he entered into the ferroalloys industry where he worked for over 50 years, specializing in the design and operation of electric furnaces used in the production of chromium and other specialty metals. He maintained a long interest in amateur winemaking. He was also an avid horticulturist with a special interest in cacti, growing dozens of varieties of succulent plants. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Canton, Ga., and the United Methodist Church of Beverly, Ohio.
He is survived by, his wife of 48 years, Vivian, two sons, Daniel Jago of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Kenneth Jago, M.D., of Canton, Ga.; one daughter, Carolin Knight of Canton, Ga.; and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m., Tuesday, November 13, 2001, from the Canton Free United Methodist Church.

McQUOWN, James
GREENWOOD - Dr. James Allan McQuown, 78, of 1110 Marshall Road, husband of Peggy Ann Simmons McQuown, died Tuesday, November 13, 2001, at Wesley Commons.
Born in Allen Junction, Minn., he was a son of the late Carleton Reed and Neva Barnes McQuown. He was a 1940 graduate of Decatur Boys High School, Decatur, Ga.; a 1943 undergraduate of Emory University and a 1946 graduate of the University of Georgia School of Medicine and served his internship and residency at the Medical University of South Carolina and Roper Hospital from 1949-1952. He formed the Western Carolina Orthopaedic Association and practiced in Greenwood for 43 years, associating with Self Memorial Hospital and retiring in 1995. After his retirement from active practice, he continued to serve as a consultant physician with Whitten Center in Clinton and as attending physician for the S.C. Regional Center for SCDDSN, a position he held for 30 years.
He was a member of the South Carolina Medical Association; the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons; Southern Medical Society and Southern Orthopaedic Association; Southern Medical Association; was a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and had served as president of the S.C. Orthopaedic Association and as a diplomat on the American Board of Orthopaedics.
He was a charter member of the Piedmont Multi-County Board of Mental Retardation, a five county organization, for 22 years, serving as a chairman of the board for two years. He served on a Greenwood County Government Committee which was instrumental in converting the Afro-American Hospital Personnel Residency into a boarding home, which provided better housing to elderly black persons. He was a state board member of the Crippled Children's Society of South Carolina and was an active participant in the work of crippled children. He served as president of the Greenwood County Easter Seals Society for eight years and began and operated the first local cerebral palsy clinic in 1953, lasting until the state clinics took over, at which time he operated the state crippled children's clinic for Greenwood County. Dr. McQuown was honored with the National Foundation Award for Recognition of Service devoted to children with polio, birth defects and arthritis. He received special training at New York University to set up special clinics in South Carolina to improve the care of amputees, saving them from trauma and vascular disease.
Dr. McQuown served on the board of the Greenwood Methodist Home from 1969-78. He was a retired inactive member of the Greenwood Rotary Club and was recipient of the 1968 "Young Man of the Year" award presented by the Greenwood Jaycees and the 1978 "Service to Mankind Award," presented by the Emerald Sertoma Club. He was a member for eight years, serving as president for two years, of the Greenwood Human Relations Organization.
Dr. McQuown was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, where he served as a medical officer in the 11th Airborne Division in Japan and Korea.
Dr. McQuown was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where he served as deacon and elder and taught all ages of Sunday school for 20 years.
Surviving is his wife of the home; two sons, Dr. J. Allan McQuown of Hodges and John Mark McQuown of Greenwood; six daughters, Dr. Sherry M. Yanney of Charleston, Neva Lynn Peagler and Peggy Ann M. Gramling, both of Moncks Corner, Kathleen Spivey McQuown of Pembroke Pines, Fla., Mary Margaret M. Jackson of Greenwood and Suzanna M. Johnston of Hilton Head; a sister, Mary Wyne of Decatur, Ga.; and 20 grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, at First Presbyterian Church, with Dr. John Wall and Rev. John Livingston officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Steven G. Gramling, William W. Peagler, James M. Yanney, Robert Jackson, Clyde Johnston, and Hayes Yanney.
Honorary escort will be the elders and deacons of First Presbyterian Church and the medical staff of Self Regional Healthcare; along with Sammy L. Drennon, Frank Morgan, Sr., Hardy Higgins, Heyward Higgins, Fred Y. Norton, Thomas Hollis, and Clarence Lyles.

There will be a Memorial Service at 11 a.m., Saturday, November 17, 2001, at the Episcopal Church of the Advent, Spartanburg, S.C. Mrs. Washburn was born Monday, December 23, 1929, in Bamberg, S.C., the daughter of Daniel Larry and Grace Virginia Marsh Edwards. She attended Columbia College as a Music Major and was the fund chairman of the American Heart Association and a member of the Altar Guild at St. Christopher Episcopal Church in Spartanburg.
Surviving are, two sons, E.R. "Rusty" Washburn, III, and his wife Jennifer of Spartanburg and E. Michael Washburn and his wife Eleanor of Sullivan's Island, three grandchildren, E.R. "Russ" Washburn, IV, of Spartanburg, Edward Michael Washburn, Jr., and Eleanor Rose Washburn, both of Sullivan's Island.

STOKES, John
WALNUT COVE - Mr. John Clifford Stokes, Sr., age 75 of Walnut Cove died Wednesday at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem. Mr. Stokes was born July 3, 1926, in New Hanover County, N.C., to the late Gordon Mansfield Stokes and Daisy Mae Turner Stokes. He was a retired electronics technician with Raytheon. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and was of the Baptist faith. He was an amateur radio operator for 40 years. He worked with MARS Network and was affiliated with NOAH. He was preceded in death by one son, John Clifford Stokes, Jr. Survivors include, his wife, Betty Bouknight Stokes of the home; children, Janet S. Tedder and husband Jack of Kannapolis; Herbert Stokes and wife Debbie of Charleston, S.C.; Cynthia Stokes of Brooksville, Fla.; Kathy S. Hughes and husband Rickey of Raleigh; one brother, Gordon Stokes of Cayce, S.C.; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. A graveside funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Salisbury National Cemetery. Rev. Andrew Hughes will officiate. The family will receive friends, Thursday evening from 7 to 9 p.m., at BURROUGHS FUNERAL HOME in Walnut Cove. KNIGHT, JR., Ralph
Ralph N. "Buddy" Knight, Jr., 53, of Summerville, died Tuesday in Atlanta, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 16, 2001 at 2 o'clock in James A. Dyal Funeral Home Chapel, Summerville. Burial will be in Boone Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 until 8 o'clock this evening.
Born on February 29, 1949, in Summerville, a son of Ralph N. and Betty Lue Knight, Sr. of Summerville.
He was a graduate of Summerville High School. He served in the United States Army during Vietnam. He was a carpenter and a member of Knightsville United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his parents of Summerville; a daughter, Carly A. Knight of Atlanta, Ga.; 2 sons, Troy Adler of Staunton, Va. and Sean M. Knight of Longview, Texas; 2 grandchildren, Ember and Brandon Adler both of Staunton, Va.
