William Howell Fleetwood, 86, of Summerville, S.C., died Friday, November 16, 2001, at a local hospital.Funeral services will be held at Summerville Baptist Church on Tuesday morning, November 20, 2001, at 11 o'clock. Entombment will be in Dorchester Memory Gardens Mausoleum.Friends may call at PARKS FUNERAL HOME, SUMMERVILLE, S.C., Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Summerville Baptist Church, 417 Central Ave., Summerville, S.C. 29483.Mr. Fleetwood was born October 19, 1915, in Jackson, N.C., a son of the late William Clarence Fleetwood and Elvie Howell Fleetwood. He was a retired Chief Warrant Officer (W-4) USAF, serving in WWII and Korea, and a member of Summerville Baptist Church.He is survived by his wife, Isabel Gay Fleetwood, of Summerville, son, William H. Fleetwood, II, of Saudi Arabia, daughter, Betty F. Harris of Summerville, brother, Henry Fleetwood of Seaboard, N.C., a sister, Faye Attkisson of Roanoke Rapids, N.C., four grandchildren, William T. Cantrell of Mt. Pleasant, Christopher B. Cantrell, Sr., of Summerville, Paul S. Cantrell of Columbia, and William H. Fleetwood, III of Texas, four great-grandchildren, Christopher B. Cantrell, Jr., of Summerville, Madison G. Cantrell of Mt. Pleasant, Tyler B. Fleetwood and Savannah L. Fleetwood, both of Texas. Mr. Fleetwood was predeceased by a grandson, Michael F. SANTEE, S.C. - Olive Felkel Shuler, 89, died Saturday, November 17, 2001 in a Santee health facility after an extended illness.Funeral services will be 3 p.m., Sunday, November 18, 2001, at Providence United Methodist Church, Providence Community. Rev. David Marcey will officiate. Burial in Island Cemetery, Santee, S.C. FOGLE-HUNGERPILLER FUNERAL HOME, ELLORE, S.C., in charge of arrangements.Active pallbearers will be Blaine Felkel, Bubbie Felkel, Ray Felkel, Larry Shuler, Berley Dantzler, and Leon Dantzler. Honorary pallbearers will be Diane Powers of Santee, S.C.Mrs. Shuler was born in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late J. Harvey Felkel and Ocie Felkel Felkel. She was a homemaker, a member of Providence United Methodist Church and was a member of the Ethel Shuler Sub Unit of the Providence Church Women.Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Mike G. Shuler of Santee, S.C.; one daughter, Lieutenant Rita Y. Shuler, Irmo, S.C.; one son, R. Irvin Shuler and wife, Claire Shuler, Santee; two grandchildren, Shannon Grier Shuler, Cartersville, Ga.; Rhonda S. EVANS, Mary
Mary E. Evans, 81, of Mt. Pleasant, died on the evening of Friday, November 16, 2001, in a Charleston hospital. The funeral service will be conducted at 2 o'clock, Monday, in the First Baptist Church of Mt. Pleasant. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the funeral service. Interment will be at a later date in South Berwick, Maine. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MT. PLEASANT CHAPEL.Honorary pallbearers are John Thomas, Marshall Wilkes, George Leighten, and her grandchildren, Will Wise, James Wise, Matthew Potter, Amy Potter, Ross K. Evans, Jr., and Mary E. Evans.Mrs. Evans was born on June 21, 1920, in Cambridge, Mass., the daughter of Dr. Frank A. and Annie Morrill Ross and was reared in South Berwick, Maine. She took Jesus as her savior while a teenager at First Baptist Church of South Berwick. An alum of the Berwick Academy, Class of '37, she attended Nasson College in Maine and was later graduated from the New England Baptist Hospital School of Nursing in 1942. She was a retired intensive care nurse at Medical University of South Carolina. She is the widow of CWO William A. Evans, USN who preceded her in death in 1975.A 40 year member of the First Baptist Church of Mt. Pleasant, she was also Past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star, a member of the East Cooper Republican Women's Club, the Sunshine Club, and was a volunteer at the East Cooper Regional Medical Center.Waiting to join her in glory, she leaves her sons and daughters-in-law, William A. (Diane) Evans of South Berwick, Maine, Ross K. (Bonnie) Evans of Rockwall, Texas; her daughters and sons-in-law, Corinne E. (Frank) Wise of Bastrop, Texas, and Maryanne E. (James A.) Potter of Mt. Pleasant. Ten grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, her cousins, Alberta Johnson and Pamela Ferriera, of Jacksonville, her brother and sister-in-law, Richard A. (Thelma) Evans of Rhode Island and many nieces and nephews. Numerous brothers and sisters in Christ also survive.The family wishes to thank all the staff at the Medical University of South Carolina for all of their wonderful loving care during her brief illness. We will long remember how gracious, professional, and exquisitely caring they were to her and her family. We also thank and praise God for her loving church family who continues to minister to us in our needs.Memorials are suggested to The First Baptist Church of Mt. GATCH, Perry
Entered into eternal rest on Saturday evening, November 17, 2001, Perry Jonathan Gatch husband of Ruth Elizabeth Bailey Gatch, residence, North Charleston, South Carolina. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Perry J. Gatch are invited to attend the funeral services of the former Tuesday afternoon, November 20, 2001, at one o'clock in the Citadel Square Baptist Church. Entombment, Magnolia Cemetery. Friends may call at J. HENRY STUHR'S INC., NORTH AREA CHAPEL this Monday evening November 19, 2001 from five until eight o'clock.
Mr. Gatch was born in Gloverville, South Carolina, August 26, 1912, the son of Allen Joseph Gatch and Annie Lee Hill Gatch. He was an electrical engineer for the United Piece Dye Works until his retirement. He was a member of the Citadel Square Baptist Church and a 32 degree Scottish Rite Mason, Chicora Lodge 366. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local #776 for over 60 years.
Surviving are his wife of North Charleston, SC; two sons: James Bailey Gatch of Charleston, SC; Perry Jonathan Gatch, Jr. of North Huntington, Pa. One daughter: Cheryl Gatch McLaurin of Charleston, SC; two sistes: Ethel Addison of New York, NY and Ann Dowdy of North Charleston, SC; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Citadel Square Baptist Church, 328 Meeting Street, Charleston, South Carolina 29403, or to the Alzheimer's Association, Coastal Carolina SC Chapter, PO Box 80459, Charleston, SC 29416.
WARR, Ola Lee
KINGSTREE - Ola Lee Moore Warr, 77, died Saturday in a Kingstree hospital.
Mrs. Warr was born on January 18, 1924 in Turbeville, a daughter of the late James B. Moore and Frances Gibbons Moore Ard. She was a member of Kingstree Church of God. Mrs. Warr was the widow of Archie Warr of the Warsaw community of Williamsburg County.
Survivors include one daughter, Charlotte W. McCutcheon of Scranton; three half-brothers, Vernon Ard and Zingle Ard, Jr. both of Rock Hill and James D. Ard of Lancaster; two half-sisters, Carrie A. Auten and Vera A. Culp both of Rock Hill; one step-brother, Luther Ard of Dinbua, Ca.; one step-sister, Laura A. Westmorland of Rock Hill; and three grandchildren, Tiffany, Courtney, and Timothy McCutcheon all of Scranton.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 20, at 11:00 a.m. at the Kingstree Church of God, with burial to follow in the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Greeleyville. The family will receive visitors from 7 until 9 p.m. Monday at WILLIAMSBURG FUNERAL HOME in Kingstree.
