BRIDGES, Tommy
Tommy Y. Bridges, 79, of Mt. Pleasant, died November 18, 2001, at a local nursing home. The relatives and friends of Mr. Tommy Bridges are invited to attend his memorial service, Tuesday, November 20, 2001, at 11 a.m., in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL. Friends may call this Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m., at J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel.
Mr. Bridges was born October 4, 1922, in Memphis, Tenn., the son of Thomas E. and Hattie Drummond Bridges. He was retired Flooring Manager with Mescons and had been in the flooring industry for 60 years. He was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church, several Tri-county square dance groups and a Life Member of Etiwan Masonic Lodge No. 95 AFM. He was a founder of the Little League in Mt. Pleasant and an avid golfer.
He is survived by one daughter, Sherry Martin of Mt. Pleasant, three sons, David and Billy Bridges of Mt. Pleasant, and Shawn Bridges of Charleston, W.Va., two sisters, Nell Johnson of Memphis, Tenn., and Virginia Price of Goose Creek, S.C., one brother, Larry Bridges of Kingstree, S.C., six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

SUMMERVILLE - Elizabeth Fuller Jones, 99, widow of Howell C. Jones, Sr., died Saturday at her residence.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the graveside in Live Oak Cemetery in Walterboro, conducted by Rev. Michael Szymanowski and directed by the FRED PARKER FUNERAL HOME.
Mrs. Jones was born November 3, 1902 in Walterboro, a daughter of the late Harry Jones and Annette Strobel Jones. She was a member of St. Paul Episcopal Church and the SPCA. She was a graduate of Winthrop University.
Surviving are three sons, Edward M. (Ned) Jones, III of Greenville, Howell C. (Nick) Jones, Jr. of Sheldon and Bernard L. Jones of Summerville, a daughter, Elizabeth (Beth) Jones of Johns Island, 17 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased in death by a daughter, Annette Jenkins.

WALTERBORO - Miss Glenda Michelle Rembert, 14, of 188 Tyler Road, Walterboro, died Sunday, November 18, at a local Charleston hospital. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 20, at Bethel United Methodist Church, Ruffin Charge, with the Rev. Edward Stiltz officiating. Interment will follow in the church Cemetery, directed by BRICE W. HERNDON AND SONS FUNERAL HOME.
Miss Rembert was born in Hampton and was the daughter of Thomas W. Rembert and June Behling Rembert. She was an eighth grade student at Forest Circle Middle School and was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church, Ruffin Charge, where she was a member of the church choir and church youth group. She was in the chorus at school.
Surviving are her parents; three sisters, Brooke Rembert and Sabrina Rembert both of Walterboro and Bekki Balafas of South Weymouth, Ma. and maternal grandparents, Luder and Mable Behling of St. George. She was predeceased by her paternal grandparents, Boyd and Ruth Rembert.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday evening at the BRICE W. HERNDON AND SONS FUNERAL HOME.

Maria Roels Sherrer, 77, of Charleston, died Sunday, November 18, 2001 at a local nursing center. She was born in Antwerp, Belgium and has been a longtime Charleston resident. Maria is survived by her husband of 49 years, Louis Sherrer, a son, Jimmy Sherrer of Charleston, two daughters, Betty Ann Scott of Charleston, Linda Myzell of Ridgeville and five grandchildren, Ryan Sherrer, Tracy Scott, Ashley Sherrer, Alex and Lauren Kirby. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church of Charleston.

GOOSE CREEK - Mrs. Marie I. Fairey, 88, of 105 Westminister Ct., died November 17, 2001 after a brief illness.
Mrs. Fairey was born in Orangeburg Co. a daughter of the late Charles R. Inabinet and Marie Carpenter Inabinet. She was a retired Civil Service worker, a member of the Crowfield Baptist Church in Goose Creek and was the widow of the late William Gene Fairey.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, November 19, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of the OTT FUNERAL HOME in Branchville by the Rev. David Coleman with burial in the Sardis Cemetery in Branchville.
Survived by one daughter, Lila K. Fairey of Goose Creek, one brother, Ben Inabinet of Orangeburg, and a number of nieces and nephews.

MARION - Rev. Francis Gilbert Barnhill, 78, died Sunday, November 18, 2001, at a Marion county medical center after an illness. The family will receive friends Tuesday, November 20 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Richardson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 21 at 11:00 a.m. from Marion Baptist Church. Burial will follow in High Point Baptist Church Cemetery, in Jordanville, SC.
Rev. Barnhill was born in Britton's Neck, a son of the late Agnes Cribb and Ole Evan Barnhill. Rev. Barnhill was ordained at High Point Baptist Church in December of 1951. He served as minister for Baker's Chapel Baptist Church, Collins Creek Baptist Church and Wampee Baptist Church, all in Horry County. He also served as minister for Tyger Baptist Church in Tigerville, SC, White Level Baptist Church in Louisburg, NC, Springhill Baptist Church in Canton, NC and Oakley Baptist Church in Asheville, NC. Rev. Barnhill was a graduate of both North Greenville College and Furman University. He received a Bachelor of Divinity with Language from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Rev. Barnhill served in the US Army from 1944-46, and received the Army Service Medal, with 2 Bronze Service Stars, Good Conduct Medal, and the WWII Victory Medal. He was a member of Marion Baptist Church.
Rev. Barnhill is survived by his wife, Estaline Jordan Barnhill of the home; 2 sons, Timothy E. Barnhill of Boalsburg, Pa. and Albert O. Barnhill of Marion; 2 daughters, Linda Barnhill Norvell of Wilmington, NC and Donna Barnhill Hinson of West Palm Beach, Fla.; 2 brothers, Carrol Barnhill of Johnsonville and Stanley Barnhill of Aiken; 6 sisters, Lonita Spivey of Charleston, SC, Louise Smoak of Greenville, SC, Virginia Jordan of Conway, SC, Alda Jordan of Conway, SC, Charlotte Cherry of Knoxville, Tenn. and Hazel Adams of Colorado; 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
HARTNETT, David
Entered into eternal rest on the evening of November 8, 2001 at a local hospital. David A. "Butch" Hartnett, 52, of West Ashley, Charleston, SC. Mr. Hartnett was the son of the late Maude and Joseph E. Hartnett. Survivors include his son, Ryan G. Hartnett and his daughter, Jaclyn M. Hartnett, both of Charleston, SC; and four brothers: James P. of Charleston, SC; Thomas N. of Kansas City; Richard J. and Joseph E., Jr. of Florida.
Mr. Hartnett attended Blessed Sacrament School, Bishop England and graduated from St. Andrew's Parish High School. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and was stationed on the USS Orion. He worked at the Charleston Naval Shipyard as an electronic mechanic in Shop 06. At the time of his death, Mr. Hartnett worked in the Engineering Department at Charleston Place. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and Elks Lodge 242.

Mr. Cannon was born February 13, 1922, in Berkeley County, S.C., a son of the late Josiah Rhame and Sally Brown Cannon. He graduated from Berkeley County Public Schools and Rice Business College and he honorably served his country during World War II in the Navy Sea Bees (construction battalion) stationed in the South Pacific. He had worked at and retired from the Charleston Naval Shipyard, where he was a welder, a shop planner and a welding engineering technician. He also taught welding at Trident Technical College. Mr. Cannon was active in Cherokee Place United Methodist Church serving as an usher and a member of the Lee Sunday School Class as well as the Men's Club of the church. Active in North Charleston Jaycees for many years, the Travelers Protective Association, serving as President of Post "D" and as President of the State TPA. Mr. Cannon served as a board member and secretary of the State TPA. Mr. Cannon served as a board member and secretary of the John C. Calhoun Homes of North Charleston. He was active in serving as an usher for the Charleston Rainbows Baseball and Citadel Football, and the North Charleston Coliseum as an usher and a greeter. He was a member of Dorchester Masonic Lodge No. 369 and the Scottish Rites. He was also a member of the Old Friends of North Charleston.
He is survived by two sons, J. Al. Cannon, Jr. (Wallis B.) and Rhame B. "Rooster" Cannon (Sherry S.) and one daughter Odella "Dell" C. Schoenberg (Arthur J.); grandchildren, Kelly M. Keen (Brian), 1st Lt. Edward Mills (Dawn M.), J. Al. Cannon, III, Sara E. B. Cannon, Rhame B. "Chip" Cannon, Jr., and Matthew E. Cannon; great-grandchildren, B. Elena Z. Keen, Kennedy G. Mills and Brailen J. A. Mills.

Nancy Hanlon White, 49, of Charleston, died Friday, November 16, 2001 in Charleston. She was born in Charleston to the late John H. and Jane Hanlon White.
