Born, August 5, 1937, in Wakefield, Mass., she was the daughter of Henry and Mary Subzda (nee Ferry). A graduate of Chicora High School, Mrs. DeWitt was employed by K-Mart for 17 years. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and was an active volunteer with the church. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Ronald R. DeWitt, three children, Donna Wilson of Charleston, Ronald DeWitt, Jr., of Palm Harbor, Fla., and Darrell DeWitt of Rock Hill, S.C.; her mother Mary Robbins of Summerville; two sisters, Joyce Grover of New Jersey and Kathleen Parsons of Maryland; her brother Kevin Robbins of Charleston and six grandchildren. Muriel Delores Maloney Tupacz, 79, of Georgetown, SC died Friday, November 30, 2001 at her home. Born February 14, 1922 and raised in Schenectady, New York, she was a daughter of the late Mary A. McCullen Maloney and Joseph E. Maloney. She graduated from Mildred Elley Business School, Albany, NY and married Edward K. Tupacz of Schenectady in 1946. They made Georgetown their home in 1947. She worked many years as a bookkeeper and became an independent businesswoman in 1965 when she became the distributor of the News and Courier morning paper in the Maryville section of Georgetown. She and her husband Edward have owned and operated the present day Tupacz Liquors and Fine Wines since 1976. Mr. and Mrs. Tupacz are long-time members of the South Carolina Liquor Retailers Association and she served a term as its president. Mrs. Tupacz was a life-long Catholic, actively participating at St. Cyprian's and St. Mary's churches. She was a charter member of St. Mary's Catholic Women's Club having served as past president. She supported the formation of St. Cyprian's Church and was active in the St. Cyprian's Outreach Program. Surviving are her husband of 55 years, Edward K. Tupacz; a daughter, Elizabeth T. Imes of Johnson City, TN; a son, Edward Gerard Tupacz and daughter-in-law, Surapee Kosolsombat Tupacz of Bangkok, Thailand; a grandson, George Edward Imes of Johnson City, TN; a sister, Mary A. Shaw and a brother, Thomas J. Maloney both of Schenectady, NY; several nieces and nephews; and cousins Audrey K. Prusko of Albany, NY; Rev. Bernard A. Keefe of Stamford, CT; and Paul F. He was retired from Bell South with 30 years service and was a Vietnam War veteran. He enjoyed his short-term retirement by hunting and fishing. COKER, Wilbur
Wilbur L. Coker, 87, died Sunday in a Kingstree hospital. Mr. Coker was born in Williamsburg County, a son of Heyward and Eugina Burns Coker. He attended Williamsburg County schools and retired from Thomas Motor Company as a mechanic. Mr. Coker was a member of Beulah Methodist Church. A son preceded him in death, Marion Lloyd Coker.
Survivors: four sons, Larry O. Coker and Norman L. Coker, both of Turbeville, Don C. Coker of Kingstree, and Watson L Coker of Cades; one daughter, Linnie O. Jenkins of Georgetown; thirteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday in the Williamsburg Funeral Home Chapel, with burial to follow in McClary Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday 7:00-9:00 PM at the Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Beulah United Methodist Church.
