Alta Maree Massey Brockinton, 79, the wife of Charleston Attorney, D.A. Brockinton, Jr., died on Saturday, December 8th, in a local hospital following a lengthy illness. She was born on August 6, 1922 in Birmingham, Alabama, the daughter of the late Dr. David Lawson Massey and Mrs. Marie Bates Massey of Birmingham, Alabama. She was educated in the public and private schools of Birmingham. She attended Fairmont Jr. College in Washington, DC and the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. On May 5, 1945 she married D.A. Brockinton, Jr., Lieutenant, USNR of Charleston, SC in Birmingham, Alabama.
Since W.W.II she has resided in Charleston, SC. She was a member of the Rebecca Motte Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Ladies Benevolent Society. She was a charter member of the Ivy Garden Club and a sustaining member of the Junior League of Charleston and a member of the First (Scots) Presbyterian Church. She was a member of the Country Club of Charleston and the Ladies Golf Association. She was an avid golfer and participated in the their tournaments. She was a Rotary Ann of the Charleston Rotary Club and regularly participated in its charitable endeavors and its community projects.
She was a talented dancer and participated in the Junior League of Charleston Follies. She starred in the role of the popular flamboyant Latin dancer/songstress "Mama Inez" in the 1950's Follies presentation of the popular and rollicking Broadway Musical "Rollin' in Rio."
Mrs. Brockinton is survived by her husband of Charleston, two daughters: Alta Maree Brockinton of New York, NY and Anne Rutledge Brockinton of Lake Tahoe, Nevada; one brother: Dr. David Lawson Massey, Jr. and his wife Ophelia Massey of Birmingham, AL; one granddaughter: Alta Maree Hagan of New York, N. Y. and numerous nieces of Alabama and nephews of Charleston, SC. She was predeceased by her brother the late George Bates Massey of Birmingham, Alabama.
The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. D.A. Brockinton, Jr. are invited to attend the funeral services of the latter in the First (Scots) Presbyterian Church, 53 Meeting Street at Three o'clock, Wednesday, December 12, 2001. Dr. Saleem N. Saleeby Jr. 67, died Sunday, December 9, 2001, at his residence.
He was born March 20, 1934, in Dillon, SC a son of Essie Moody Saleeby and the late S.N. Saleeby, Sr.
Dr. Saleeby was a graduate of the Citadel and the University of Virginia school of Medicine and Dentistry. He was a member of American Dental Association, Horry County Dental Society, First Presbyterian Church for 27 years, former member of the Civitans Club, a volunteer with S.O.S., and served in the United States Air Force as a Captain.
Survivors include his wife, Christine A. Jetmar-Saleeby of the home, his mother, of North Myrtle Beach, a son, Dale Saleeby of Dallas, TX, four step-children, Carlton Hamilton of Monroe, NC, Thomas Hamilton of Myrtle Beach, James Jetmar of Ferrun, VA, Teresa Jetmar of West Orange, NJ, a brother, Charles W. Saleeby of Hendersonville, NC, a sister, Barbara Maples of North Myrtle Beach, SC and Charlotte, NC, and nine grandchildren.

NEWBERRY - Norman Avant Myers, of 2000 Springfield Circle, Apt. 109, Newberry, formerly of Holly Hill, died Wednesday, in a Newberry hospital.
The funeral will be 2:30 p.m., Saturday, December 15, 2001, at the graveside in the Eutawville Cemetery, Eutawville. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Saturday, at AVINGER FUNERAL HOME OF HOLLY HILL.
Mr. Myers was born in Eutawville a son of the late Shelly Prusher Myers and Annie Bell Eadon Myers. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and attended the Citadel. He was a retired farmer. He was a member of Central United Methodist in Newberry, and was the widower of Gladys Allred Myers.
Survivors include, daughters, Mrs. Jane Keller of Fresno, Calif., Mrs. Rosemary Berry of Newberry, and Mrs. Sandra Mitchell of Socastee; brother, Charles Myers of Eutawville; sisters, Mrs. Carolyn Davis of Norway, and Mrs. Patricia Felder of Socastee; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

YEMASSEE, S.C. - Deacon Jack "Buck" Mitchell, Jr., 91, died Sunday in the Beaufort Memorial Hospital, Beaufort, S.C.
The family will receive friends and relatives on Thursday, 7 to 9 p.m., in the Mt. Nebo Baptist Church, Yemassee, S.C. Funeral services will be held on Friday, 1 p.m. in the Mt. Nebo Baptist Church, Yemassee, S.C., with burial in the Church Cemetery.
Born July 22, 1910, Colleton County, S.C., he was a son of the late Jack Mitchell and Janie Chisolm Mitchell. He resided his entire life in Colleton County. After numerous years of employment, he was retired from the Georgia-Pacific, Inc., Varnville, S.C. He was also a self-employed farmer.
A member of the Mt. Nebo Baptist Church, Yemassee, S.C., he was an ordained deacon serving on the Board of Deacons. He was a member of the Missionary Board, sang with the Male Chorus and Senior Choir, and was the church sexton for numerous years.
Survivors are, his wife, Sadie Brown Mitchell, Yemassee, S.C.; ten daughters, Janie Young, Carrie Williams, Annabell Brown, Rosalee Singleton, Lorine Ferguson, Annette Young, Cynthia Mitchell, and Nicole Mitchell, all of Yemassee, S.C.; Sadie Brown, Baltimore, Md. and Patricia Butler, Dumfries, Va.; five sons, Henry Mitchell, Maplewood, N.J., Jack Mitchell, Herman Mitchell, Yemassee, S.C., Sherman Mitchell, Walterboro, S.C., and Draper Mitchell, New Orleans, La.; a sister, Viola Roberts, Yemassee, S.C.; 35 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; other relatives.

Mrs. White was born in Mount Pleasant, S.C., a daughter of James Edward Coleman, Sr., and Emily Freeman Coleman. She was the widow of James W. White, Jr., who served in the Pacific theatre during World War II. Mrs. White was a lifetime resident of Mount Pleasant, S.C., and she took pride in having lived on the same street in the Village for 86 of her 87 years. She was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church.
Surviving are three sons, James W. White, III, of Mount Pleasant, S.C., Edward R. White of Norfolk, Va., and Francis C. White of Mount Pleasant, S.C., one daughter, Mary Emily W. Felber of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., and one grandson, Jordan C. Felber, of James Island, S.C. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Ross Edmondston Coleman, James Edward Coleman, Jr., James Oswald Coleman, and Francis F. Coleman, who served as a former Mayor of Mount Pleasant, S.C.

Mr. Litchfield was born April 8, 1930, in Moultrieville, S.C., the son of the late James B. Litchfield and Emile O. Miller Litchfield. Mr. Litchfield was a Baptist and a retired Master Sergeant with the United States Air Force, serving in the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. He also retired from the Charleston Naval Shipyard.
Surviving are his wife of North Charleston; step-daughter, Miss Loretta Dailey of North Charleston, S.C.; two brothers, Earl Litchfield of Warner Robbins, Ga., and Robert Litchfield of Mount Pleasant, S.C., two grandsons, Dennis Bannister and Sean Daily both of North Charleston, S.C.

Surviving Mrs. Hudson are two sons, James "Charlie" White and Paul Andrew Tyrrell, Jr., both of Charleston; a daughter, Catherine E. Brown of N. Charleston; 19 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Her daughters, Velma Tyrrell and Margaret Copson and her sons, George "Delma" White, Jr., and Robert E. White, preceded her in death.
