PALLAS, Nancy
Nancy L. Schaeffer Pallas (Nan), 68, died unexpectedly on the afternoon of Monday, December 17, 2001, in a Charleston hospital. The graveside service and burial of her urn, next to her daughter's, in Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens in Mt. Pleasant, S.C., will be announced at a later date. Arrangements were made at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MT. PLEASANT CHAPEL.
Nan was born in Centre County, Pa., on August 25, 1933, a daughter of John R. and Hilda Aley Schaeffer. She was the former owner of Nan's Stork Shop and Sid's Ceramics in Centre Hall. Nan spent over 45 years as an associate manager and owner in retail sales.
She was a 30 year member of the Central Pennsylvania Orchid Society and a 25 year member of the Roland Curtin Foundation in Bellefonte.
She moved to Charleston, S.C., in 1995 and became a tour guide in the historic Charleston area and was a member of the Charleston Tour Guide Association.
She is survived by her brother, Ron Schaeffer of Centre Hall, an aunt, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Frances Pallas Lockhart on November 13 of this year.
DUBLIN, Ruth
Ruth Dublin, 78, of Goose Creek, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, December 19, at a local hospital. Born in New York City to the late George and Emily Capers Brown. She was married to the late Charles Dublin. After graduating from New York Community College, Mrs. Dublin was head of the Dietician Department at the New York Hospital. Retirement brought much happiness to Mrs. Dublin, she enjoyed working with and being a part of many different senior citizen groups. She was a member of the Senior Friends, South Berkeley Senior Citizens, and a group called Silver Threads. Mrs. Dublin also was a member of the First Baptist Church of Goose Creek where she taught the Senior Citizens Sunday School Class. She is survived by her only son, Charles Dublin of Goose Creek, six grandchildren, Samuel C. Dublin of Goose Creek, Angele and Aura Dublin, both of Jacksonville, Fla., Aprilis, Vanna, and Nikita Dublin all of Albany, N.Y. Two sisters also survived her, Mae Thomas of New York, and Bernice Heroit of Pennsylvania. The family will receive friends, 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, December 20, at MCALISTER-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, GOOSE CREEK CHAPEL. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Friday, December 21, at the First Baptist Church of Goose Creek. Interment will follow at Beaufort National Cemetery. Mrs. Dublin will be placed in the church one hour prior to the services.

ST. GEORGE - Alvin "Bubba" Summers, Sr., 52, of 313 Railroad Avenue, St. George, S.C. died Sunday at a Charleston hospital after a very brief illness. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 21, 2001 at the Shady Grove United Methodist Church, Highway 178, St. George with Dr. John H. Elliott, officiating. Mr. Summers was born May 19, 1949 in St. George, S.C., a son of Mrs. Lenell Johnson Summers, and the late Alton Summers. He was a member of the Shady Grove United Methodist Church and attended Williams Memorial High School of St. George, S.C. "Bubba" lived in New York for many years where he was employed by the Louisiana Auto Exchange of Brooklyn, N.Y. He was currently employed by Dorchester County Public Works Department as an equipment operator. "Bubba" was also an outstanding automotive mechanic.

EVERTS, Herbert
Herbert J. Everts, a former Director and Chief Financial Officer of the Sara Lee Corporation, died Tuesday, December 18, 2001 at his home in Isle of Palms, South Carolina. Mr. Everts was born in 1905 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, son of George W. and Christine Everts. The family moved to Memphis, Tennessee in 1927, where he finished his schooling. He became a Certified Public Accountant there. In 1940, after two years in public accounting, he moved to Baltimore, Maryland to join a Company then known as Consolidated Foods, now the Sara Lee Corporation. From 1942 to 1945, he served as a Finance Officer in the United States Air Force, after which he returned to the Sara Lee Executive Offices, which had moved to Chicago. In 1954, he became Treasurer of the Company, and prior to his retirement in 1977, he was a Director and the Chief Financial Officer. After his retirement, he and his wife moved to Gravette, Arkansas and in 1985 moved to the Isle of Palms, S.C.

ANDREWS - Nancy Dunahoe Morris, 61, died Tuesday, December 18, 2001, at a Georgetown hospital.
Mrs. Morris was born in Hemingway on August 10, 1940, a daughter of Lorain Dennis Dunahoe and the late Jack Charlton Dunahoe. She grew up in Hemingway and moved to Georgetown as a teenager. Mrs. Morris attended school in Hemingway and Georgetown. She was a former co-owner of Morris Grocer in Andrews, which she operated for 23 years with her husband.
Surviving are, her husband, Bobby J. Morris of Andrews: a son, Will Morris of Andrews; four daughters, Terri M. Davis, Debbie M. Blake, and Wendy M. Phillips, all of Andrews, and Sheryl M. Hall of Newbury Park, Calif.; her mother of N. Charleston; a brother, Travis Dunahoe of Pawley's Island; two sisters, Sandra Dunahoe of N. Charleston and Jackie Darnall of Topeka, Kan.; six grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
Funeral services will be Friday afternoon, December 21, 2001, at 2 o'clock in the ANDREWS CHAPEL OF MAYER FUNERAL HOME. Officiating will be the Rev. Lee Walters. Burial will follow in Andrews Memorial Cemetery.

William Eugene Greene, 46, of Vineyard Blvd., Summerville, S.C., a truck driver for AAA Cooper Transportation, died Tuesday at his residence.

MURRAY, Ruby
Ruby Brown Murray, 84, of Wichita Falls, Texas, died Monday, December 17, 2001.
Born March 10, 1917, in Lincolnton, Ga., Mrs. Murray was the daughter of the late Fannie (Gaskins) Brown Fallin and the late Nathan Brown.
Mrs. Murray lived in Wichita Falls, Texas, for many years and was a former resident of Charleston, S.C. She attended school here in Fitzgerald. Mrs. Murray worked for Atlantic Coast Life Insurance and approximately 20 years for the South Carolina Port Authority. She was a long standing member of the First Baptist Church in Johns Island, S.C., and the Lamar Baptist Church in Wichita Falls, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, M.B. Murray.
She is survived by a son, John Murray of Wichita Falls, Texas.
Services will be 11 a.m., Thursday, December 20, 2001, at Brushy Creek Primitive Baptist Church, Irwin County, Ga. Rev. Gerald Thomas will officiate. WILSON, N.C. - Dorothy Barber Fry, 76, died Monday, December 17, 2001, at a Wilson, N.C., health facility. Mrs. Fry was born February 19, 1925, in Lancaster, Pa., daughter of the late Emmett S. and Esther Parker Barber. She was a member of Remount Road Baptist Church in North Charleston, S.C., and attended Stoneybrook Church of Christ in Wilson.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, December 20, 2001, at Stoneybrook Church of Christ with Rev. Mark Woolard, Jr., officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.

Mr. Abramson was born May 26, 1925, in Charleston, S.C., the son of Jacob Abramson and Edith Kahn Abramson. He served with the U.S. Army during W.W.II. He was a member of Synagogue Emanu-El. He retired as a technician from the Charleston Naval Shipyard. For 11 years he was the proprietor of the Gift Shop at the Sheraton Hotel.
He is survived by his wife of Charleston, S.C.; two daughters, Leah Abramson and Janis A. Solomon, both of Charleston, S.C.; three grandchildren, Brian Solomon, Evan Solomon and Jason Solomon; two brothers, Philip Abramson of Ocala, Fla., and Murray Abramson of Greenville, S.C.; one sister, Myra A. Mayer of Washington, D.C.

LITTLE RIVER - Mr. John H. Barringer, 66, died December 17, 2001 at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center. Born in Granite Quarry, N.C. the son of the late Virgil and Jane Barringer, Mr. Barringer was retired from Kinney Shoes and the Charleston Shipyard, he was a Navy veteran, past member of the Charleston Elks, Charleston Moose Lodge, Salisbury N.C. Moose Lodge, and the American Legion Post #147 in James Island, S.C.
Survivors include his wife Jo Ann Sawyer Barringer of Little River; two sons, Ronnie Joe Hardee and his wife Patricia Ann of Tabor City, N.C.; William C. Hardee and his wife Beth of Charleston, S.C.; one brother, George C. Barringer and his wife Dale of Hackensack, N.J.; one niece, Angel Desai of Hackensack, N.J.; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

MYRTLE BEACH - Joseph A. Santua, Jr., age 23 of Cedar Lane died Wednesday, December 12, 2001 in Kileen, Tex.
Born October 24, 1978 in Atwater, Calif., he was the son of Teresa Lopez Brown of Myrtle Beach and Joseph A. Santua of Hollywood, S.C. Mr. Santua was a 1997 graduate of Socastee High School and had enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1999. He was a member of University Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to his parents are his step father, Jimmy Brown of Myrtle Beach; brother, Derek Brown of Myrtle Beach; sisters, Lydia Santua of Ravenel, S.C. and Erica Brown of Myrtle Beach; grandmother, Ellen Santua of Calif.; grandfather, Richard Lopez and wife Barbara of Orosi, Calif. and grandmother, Claudene Lopez and step grandparents, Jack and Brenda Brown of Conway.
Graveside services with military honors will be 1:00 p.m., Friday at Hillcrest Cemetery.
