She is survived by her mother; one daughter, Allison Marie Dota; one sister, Ann V. Prochazka and one brother, Edward M. Vaughan, all of Charleston, S.C.

POOLE, James
Entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, December 18, 2001, Richard James Poole, 57, of Nesmith, S.C. The funeral services will be Friday, December 21, 2001 in All Saints Episcopal Church, Pawley's Island, South Carolina at 2 o'clock. Mr. Poole was born in Greenville, South Carolina on September 28, 1944. He was the husband of Linda Bright Poole whom he married in 1966, the son of Mable Waldrop Poole and the late Richard James Poole, Sr.
He attended Camden Military Academy and graduated with B.S. and MBA degrees from East Tennessee State University. Upon completing his degrees he served in the Medical Service Corps as Chief of the Medical Logistics Division for the Medical Command in Europe. He was stationed in Heidelberg, Germany.
After his tour of duty with the United States Army, he became administrator of Screven County Hospital in Sylvania, Georgia. He was president of the East Central District and member of the Georgia Hospital Association. In this capacity, he established the ambulance service for the counties that were included in the East Central district.
In 1978, he became president of Southeastern Health care where he managed Jasper County Hospital, developed and became part owner of Ridgecrest Convalescent Center both of which are in Ridgeland, South Carolina.
In September 1981, he became president and owner of Sandpiper Convalescent Center, Inc. which is located in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina. In 1984 he built and operated Sandpiper Village, a retirement complex for independent adults. Most recently he opened Sandpiper Courtyard which is an assisted living facility. All three facilities are located in Mt. Pleasant.
He was a member of the American College of Hospital Administrators and past district president of the South Carolina Health Care Association.
He loved all aspects of outdoor life and was an avid quail hunter, boater and fisherman. Over the last ten years he developed Lakewood Plantation as a wild game preserve with a special emphasis on developing habitat for the promotion of healthy wildlife.
In addition to his wife, Linda, he is survived by three children, Richard Bruce Poole and his wife Ramona; Timothy James Poole and his wife, Jodie; Tamatha Denise Poole and six grandchildren.

DUBLIN, Ruth
Ruth Dublin, 78, of Goose Creek entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, December 19, at a local hospital. Born in New York City to the late George and Emily Capers Brown. She was married to the late Charles Dublin. After graduating from New York Community College, Mrs. Dublin was head of the Dietician Department at the New York Hospital. Retirement brought much happiness to Mrs. Dublin, she enjoyed working with and being a part of many different senior citizen groups. She was a member of the Senior Friends, South Berkeley Senior Citizens, and a group called Silver Threads. Mrs. Dublin also was a member of the First Baptist Church of Goose Creek where she taught the Senior Citizens Sunday School class. She is survived by her only son, Charles Dublin of Goose Creek, six grandchildren, Samuel C. Dublin of Goose Creek, Angele and Aura Dublin both of Jacksonville, Fla., Aprilis, Vanna, and Nikita Dublin all of Albany, N.Y. Two sisters also survive her, Mae Thomas of New York, and Bernice Heroit of Pennsylvania. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, December 21 at the First Baptist Church of Goose Creek. Interment will follow at Beaufort National Cemetery. Mrs. Dublin will be placed in the church one hour prior to the services.

Alma E. Caines, 96, of Summerville died Thursday, December 20 at a local hospital. Born in Charleston to the late George and Mary Sawadski Buero. She was married to the late Emory E. Caines. Mrs. Caines attended Charleston County Public Schools. She was a member of St. Mary of the Annunciation Catholic Church. She is survived by her daughter, Betty Thomas of Summerville, a brother, Harold I. Buero of James Island, a granddaughter, Beth and Bud Warren of Summerville, and great-grandson, William Warren of Summerville and was predeceased by grandson, Tony Thomas. GREEN POND - Ester Mae Aiken, 62, died Sunday, December 16, 2001.
The funeral will be 12:00 noon, Saturday, December 22, 2001, in Jerusalem A.M.E. Church, White Hall. Burial will be in White Hall Cemetery.
Mrs. Aiken was born in Colleton County and was the daughter of the late Charlie Cattle and Linda Sarah White Cattle. She was a graduate of Walterboro High School.
She was a member of Jerusalem A.M.E. Church and served on the Usher Board, Treasurer and Secretary of the Trustee Board, Assistant Class Leader No. 3 and a Missionary. She was the President of the Sons and Daughters of Job Society, a member of the N.A.A.C.P. and the Colleton County Political Action.
She was employed with The Sea Island Day Care Development Center, Walterboro.
She was the widow of Lonnie B. Aiken.
Surviving are a son, Samuel Aiken; four daughters, Estelle Carter (Jimmy), Albertha Koger (James), Sylvia Aiken and Sallie Ann Aiken; two sisters, Julia C. Pencile and Leola Wright (Oscar, Jr.); a foster brother, Horace Simmons and 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Born January 5, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Luther E. and Eunice Austin Hunter. She was a retired secretary from Dorchester Waylyn Baptist Church and also a member of Dorchester Waylyn Baptist Church. CORY, Maud
Maud Steinmeyer Cory, widow of Albert Henry Cory, Sr., died in Summerville, S.C. at the age of 94 on December 19, 2001. She was a daughter of the late Dr. William Marion Steinmeyer and Alma Gantt Steinmeyer. Dr. Steinmeyer was a dentist and the Superintendent of Education for Beaufort County Schools for many years.
She was a graduate of Beaufort High School and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Beaufort, attending since the establishment of the church when she was four years old. For many years she was a member of the Noon Circle and taught Sunday School. She was a member and treasurer of the Stephen Elliott Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy.
She is survived by a sister, Alma Steinmeyer Cappelmann of Beaufort, a son, Albert Henry Cory, Jr. of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., a daughter, Caroline Cory Coslick of Beaufort, three grandchildren, Albert Henry Cory, III of Eden, Ga., Cory Howerton Fleming of Beaufort, and Jean Cory Bowlkes of Beaufort and two great-grandchildren, Michael Eric Fowlkes, Jr. and Caroline Quinn Fleming both of Beaufort. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband and two brothers and two sisters, John H. Steinmeyer, William M. Steinmeyer, Jr., Rachel Steinmeyer Ellis, and Marie Steinmeyer McArthur.
Friends may call at the home of her daughter at 410 Baynard Street on the evening of Friday, December 21st from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will be on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Beaufort with interment at St. Helena's Episcopal Church Cemetery.

Born February 25, 1936, she was a daughter of the late Leon C. and Hilda Nitz Seeley Brown. She was a member of Tall Pines Baptist Church.
