BUNN, Sandy
WALTERBORO - Ms. Sandy Smoak Bunn, 36, of 180 Givens Drive, Ruffin, died Saturday, December 22, 2001 at the Colleton Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held 2 o'clock Monday, December 24, 2001, in the Chapel of the Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Home with Dr. Zane Brown officiating. Interment will follow in the Smoak Memorial Resting Place, located on the family property, 180 Givens, Drive, Ruffin.
Ms. Bunn was born May 18, 1965 in Orangeburg, and was a daughter of Donald and Mae Givens Smoak. She was an Emergency Medical Technician with the Colleton County Emergency Medical Services. She was an E.M.T. for over 15 years, and served with Dorchester and Charleston counties. She was a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church, Ruffin charge and was a graduate of the Walterboro High School. She has been best described as having the EMS Service as her first love, and fishing as her second.
Surviving in addition to her parents of Ruffin, are her daughter, Julia Ann Bunn of Ruffin, a brother, Stacy Donald Smoak of Ruffin, and a sister, Kathy Smoak Little of Galloplis, Ohio. She was formerly married to Larry Bunn of North Charleston.
Friends may call Sunday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 at the BRICE W. HERNDON & SONS FUNERAL HOME, 1193 Bells Highway, Walterboro.

DORNSEIF, Wallace
Wallace "Wally" Dornseif, 77, a resident of Dover, Ohio since March of this year, formerly of Kiawah Island, South Carolina, died late Thursday night, December 20, at his Dover residence.
Wallace was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on February 27, 1924, a son of the late Edwin Henry and Marie Louise Quade Dornseif. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the China-Burma-India theater with the Army Air Corps. He was awarded the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Medal with three bronze battle stars, the Air Medal with two bronze Oak Leaf Clusters, and the Distinguished Flying Cross with one bronze Oak Leaf Cluster.
Following the war, Wallace returned to his family business, Dornseif and Associates, Inc., King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, where he was the co-owner with his brother, Edwin Dornseif. Wallace worked here for 38 years before retiring in 1985 and moving to Kiawah Island.
He was a former member of the Church of our Savior, Johns Island, South Carolina, where he served on the Vestry. Wallace enjoyed golf and travel and was a member of the Kiawah Island Club. He also served as Commissioner of the Board of Election which incorporated the town of Kiawah Island, South Carolina.
Wallace, a devoted husband, is survived by his wife of 56 years, Dorothy Dudley Dornseif, Dover. He also leaves two daughters and their husbands, Carol D. and Philip W. Gold, Washington, S.C., and Joan E. and George M. Brodie, Newcomerstown. Also surviving are his son and his wife, James W. and Patricia I. Dorseif, Berwyn, Pennsylvania. Wallace is also survived by ten grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and his brother and his wife, Edwin H. and Edna Dornseif, Wayne, Pennsylvania.
In keeping with Wallace's requests, his remains are to be cremated. No visiting hours will be observed. Private family services will be held at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, New Philadelphia, at the convenience of the family. Public services and inurnment of the remains will be held at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia, on Wednesday, February 27, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. The family suggests that memorials be made in Wallace's name to Sea Island Habitat for Humanity, 3487 McGill Court, Johns Island, S.C. 29455, the American Cancer Society, or to an individual's favorite charity. The Ourant Funeral Home, 407 East Canal Street, Newcomerstown, Ohio, 740-498-6422, is handling the arrangements.

DUANE, Mildred
Mildred Porter Duane, 81, James Island, died Friday, December 21, 2001, at her residence. She was born in Phenix City, Ala., to Wilbur and Jewel Newsome Porter, a graduate of Central High in Phenix City, Ala. Mildred was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the proud mother of nine children, she was also previously on the PTA at Bishop England High School and Cathedral School. She was the widow of William M. Duane. She is survived by four sons, William M. Duane of Charlotte, N.C., and Martin J. Duane of Charleston, Christopher C. Duane of Charlotte, N.C., and John W. Duane of Charleston, five daughters, Michele Kelly of Riva, Md., Denise Davis of Lithonia, Ga., Patricia A. Duane of Charleston, Sylvia Molley of Jacksonville, Fla., Rebecca McIntosh of Lake Weir, Fla., three sisters, Martha Webster and Mittie Sanders, both of Phenix City, Ala., Mary Dotson of Albuquerque, N.M., nine grandchildren and one great-grandson. Visitation will be Wednesday, 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., at MCALISTER-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, DOWNTOWN CHAPEL, 150 Wentworth St. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held, 2:30 p.m., Thursday, December 27, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with interment in St. Lawrence Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Mary's Church Building Fund, 89 Hasell St., Charleston, S.C. 29401, or to a charity of one's choice.

BOWERS, Guy
CAMDEN, S.C. - Funeral services for Guy Everett Bowers, 78, will be held on Sunday, December 23, 2001, at 2 p.m. in Emmanuel Baptist Church. Mr. Bowers died Friday, December 21, 2001. Born in Cassatt, he was the son of the late Landy and Bessie Peach Bowers. Mr. Bowers was retired from the DuPont Company, a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, a U.S. Army World War II veteran and the recipient of the Purple Heart and other medals. Mr. Bowers was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Bernice Ammons Bowers.
Surviving are a daughter, Dianne Bowers Yeager of Camden; two sons, Larry Bowers, of Camden and Rev. Mike Bowers of Columbia; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; five sisters, Pearl Folson, Mrs. Harold (Mary) McGee both of Columbia, Ruby Wilson of W. Columbia, Viola Stokes of Camden, and Mrs. Rex (Betty) Kelly of Cassatt; three brothers, Landy Bowers of Cassatt, Paul Bowers of Camden, and Robert Bowers of W. Columbia.

BOWERS, Bernice
CAMDEN, S.C. - Funeral services for Bernice Ammons Bowers, 78, will be held on Sunday, December 23, 2001, at 2 p.m., in Emmanuel Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Mrs. Bowers died Wednesday, December 19, 2001. Born in Bishopville, she was the daughter of the late S.A. and Eva Brown Ammons. Mrs. Bowers was retired from B.C. Moore and was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. She was the wife of 60 years of the late Guy E. Bowers.
Surviving are her daughter Diane Bowers Yeager of Camden; two sons, Larry Bowers of Camden and Rev. Mike Bowers of Columbia; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marie Hicks and Sue Lynch, both of Camden. She was predeceased by a half-sister, Jessie Mae Trimnal.

MARTIN, III, Eddie
Eddie L. Martin, III, 42, of Summerville, husband of Tammy Sue Martin, died Friday morning in a Charleston hospital.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 24, 2001, at 2 o'clock in Little Rock Pentecostal Holiness Church, Cottageville. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call at the church from 1 o'clock until service time.
Mr. Martin was born on February 10, 1959, in Charleston, S.C., a son of the late Eddie L. and Gaynell Muckelvaney Martin, Jr.
Mr. Martin was a carpenter. He served in the U.S. Army. He was of the Holiness faith.
Surviving are, his wife, Tammy Sue Kennedy Martin of Summerville; four daughters, Deanna Munn of Mt. Pleasant, Joanna Jones of Moncks Corner, Cassandra Sue Martin of Oklahoma, Skylar Marie Martin of Oklahoma; one grandson, Tristen Munn of Mt. Pleasant; six sisters, Shirley Ann Edwards of Poynette, Wisc., Barbara Davidson of Ridgeville, Shirlean Muckenfuss of Cottageville, Arlene Davidson of Cottageville, Linda Muckenfuss of Charleston, Brenda Wilder of Ridgeville; one brother, Dean Martin of Cottageville; step-mother, Betty Ruth Martin of Cottageville.

HEYWARD, Leon
The relatives and friends of Mr. Leon Delmon Heyward (Dale) are invited to attend his funeral services Monday, December 24, 2001, in New Holmes Street Baptist Church, 7 Killians St. Rev. MOORE, Fred
The Honorable Fred Thurman Moore, precious husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend, went to his heavenly home while surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Moore of 309 Brook St., Honea Path, S.C., died Thursday, December 20, 2001, at a Charleston hospital.
Born in Seneca, S.C., on June 30, 1921, he was the son of the late Alger Earl and Edith Betty Stancil Moore. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He served as a Pharmacist's Mate First Class in the U.S. Navy during World War II and on the U.S. Monticello in the Pacific and European Theaters.
Upon returning home in 1945 he was Publisher and Editor of the Honea Path Chronicle and was Publisher Emeritus until his death. On January 9, 1948, he married the former Maude Elizabeth Williams and shared 53 wonderful years of marriage.
Mr. Moore served between the years of 1951 until 1980 as a member of the S.C. House of Representatives. He served on numerous committees and chaired the Interstate Cooperation Committee. He held the first State Auctioneering License (SCL 101) and served as the State's Auctioneer. Mr. Moore was involved in many businesses, civic, and educational endeavors. Some include Anderson County Library Board of Directors, Vice President of Grammer Guitar Company, Tri County Technical College Instructor, and owner of Moore Auction and Real Estate Company. Since 1995 he has been serving as a member of the Medical University of South Carolina Board of Trustees.
Mr. Moore is survived by his devoted wife, Maude, of the home; his daughter, Fredda Elizabeth and her husband Judge Billy Gilmer of Honea Path; his son Fred "Butch" Thurman Moore and his wife Joy of Belton; his daughter Betty Jo and her husband Major Wally Hall of Abbeville; three grandchildren, William Thurman "Kevin" Gilmer, Janet Elizabeth Moore and Gavin Ivey; one great-grandson, Kristopher Kevin Gilmer.
In addition, he is survived by four brothers; Wallace Derrell Moore of Seneca, Harry Earl Moore of Toney, Ala., Joseph Fielding Moore of Moses Lake, Wash., and Rex Wade Moore of New Ellington, S.C.; sisters, Reginald Inez Marmelstein of Seneca, Syble Rebecca Newton of Millbrook, Ala.; sister-in-law, Lucy Lavinia "Dana" Thomas Moore, also of Seneca. He was predeceased by a sister, Mildred Louise Moore and two brothers, Eugene Francis Moore and Jack Moore.
Graveside services will be Sunday, December 23, 2001, at 2 p.m., at Eastview Cemetery, Honea Path, S.C.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Smith, MD, Larry Shaw, Bob Ellege, Andy Sullivan, Terry Cooley, and Jerry Parker.
Honorary pallbearers will be past and present members of the South Carolina General Assembly and Medical University of South Carolina Board of Trustees and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Medical University of South Carolina, Health Sciences Foundation, 171 Ashley Ave., Charleston, S.C. 29425.

GIBSON, William
EARLY BRANCH - Mr. William Simmie Gibson, 89, of Simmie Lane, died early Saturday morning in a local Charleston hospital after an extended illness.
Mr. Gibson was born in Jasper County, April 14, 1912 a son of the late Parmentus M. Gibson and Alice Mixson Gibson. He was a retired farmer and owned and operated a family saw mill. He was a member of the Sand Hill Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Nick Mixson Sunday School Class and Deacon.
Surviving are his wife, Inez Thames Gibson of Cummings; sons and daughter-in-laws, Richard and Margie Gibson of Anderson; Jimmie and Celie Gibson; Linwood and Henrietta Gibson; Dennis and Miriam Gibson; Perry and Betsy Gibson all of Cummings; and Chester and Claudia Gibson of Hepzibah, Ga.; daughter and son-in-law, Cathlene and Michael Pierce, Sr. of Cummings; and two sisters: Marie Heape of Sheldon and Myrtle Mixson of Cummings. He was predeceased in death by a daughter, Alice Marlene Gibson. There are 17 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday in the Sand Hill Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Reginal Hill and Rev. Richard Gibson, with burial in the Sand Hill Cemetery, directed by PEEPLES-RHODEN FUNERAL HOME in Hampton. BUCK, Henry Eugene
Staff Sergeant Henry Eugene Buck, 69, US Army retired, of Mount Pleasant, died Saturday, December 22, 2001 at a local hospital. Born in Darlington, S.C. he was a son of the late William Benjamin Buck and Myrtle Backman Buck. He was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars and a member of the Army Special Forces. He was awarded a Bronze Star and three Purple Hearts. Staff Sergeant Buck was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3137, Isle of Palms.
Surviving him is his mother of Darlington, S.C.; his son, Michael E. Buck, of Darlington, S.C.; three sisters, Aleen Suggs, Norma Gunter, both of Darlington, S.C., Barbara Lubelsky of Isle of Palms; two brothers, Jerry Buck of Cheraw, S.C., Seldon Buck of Darlington, S.C. and two grandchildren, Blair Buck and Adam Buck. Long time friend Ann Cahill, of Silver Springs, Md. His brother Bill Buck preceded him in death.

Thrower, Jr. (Carmen) of Charleston, S.C.; Terrance Thrower (Jacquetta) of Charleston, S.C. four daughters: Earthea T.
