WALTERBORO - Faye Beach Ackerman, 89, widow of Dr. Waldo Emerson Ackerman, died Saturday at the Colleton Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the graveside in Live Oak Cemetery, conducted by Rev. Lee Cothran, Elder Baria and Elder Bowman and directed by the FRED PARKER FUNERAL HOME.
Mrs. Ackerman was born March 11, 1912 in Walterboro, a daughter of the late Louis W. Beach and Lea Linder Beach. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church and the order of Eastern Star, Chapter #147. She and her husband were the owners of Ackerman Beach Drug Store.
Surviving are: three nephews, Michael Anthony Beach and Harris L. Beach Jr. both of Walterboro and Joseph Edward Beach of Myrtle Beach, a niece, Weezie Beach Geddings of Columbia and several great-nieces and nephews.

Willis Austin White, Jr., 36, or North Charleston died Friday in a local hospital. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday in Carolina Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Carolina Memorial Gardens. Born in Charleston, he was the son of Willis Austin White, Sr. and Gladys Prevatt. Mr. White was a retired floor sander and an active member of A.B.A.T.E. He attended Blessed Hope Baptist Church.

Benjamin Kenchen Walters, 82, a former longtime resident of Tampa, Fla. died Thursday December 27, 2001 in Goose Creek, S.C. Born December 8, 1919 in Georgia he was the son of James Leon and Bobbie Lee Walters. Mr. Walters was a veteran having served in the US Navy during WWII. He retired from Seaboard Coastline Railroad. He was also a Mason. Deacon Roper was a member of the First Baptist Church of James Island and a Mason. He enjoyed singing, dancing, music, travel, antiqueing and refinishing furniture.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Gail E. Roper, of Charleston and Tilda Marie R. Siler of North Charleston; two sons, Henry Roper, Jr., and his wife, Monica and Harry M. Roper and his wife, Robin both of Charleston; one brother, Joseph Roper of James Island; three grandsons and two granddaughters.

He was a Mason and a Shriner. He was a buyer with Master Form Manufacturing.

MULLINS, S.C. - Mr. Charles Wilkes, 70, husband of June Brown Wilkes, died Saturday, December 29, 2001 at Marion County Medical Center after an illness.

Mr. Wilkes was born October 12, 1931 in Shamrock, Fla., a son of the late Charlie Wallace Wilkes and the late Effie Carlie Williams Wilkes. Mr. Wilkes had retired as an Assistant Manager for Wal-Mart. He was a US. Navy veteran, having served during the Korean War. Mr. Wilkes was a member of Mullins First Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Ready Sunday School Class.
Surviving Mr. Wilkes in addition to his wife of the home are: a daughter: Linda Archer of Sylvan Grove, Kansas; a son: Tim Wilkes of Okatie, S.C.; 4 grandchildren: Michael Archer, Andrea Archer, Ryan Wilkes and Kaylee Wilkes; a step-granddaughter: Brandi Crosby; 4 great-grandchildren; a brother: Wallace Wilkes of Pittsburg, Pa.; and a sisater: Kathryn Goreman of Florida.

AYNOR - William Lephon Hardwick, age 66, of Aynor, died Saturday, December 29, 2001. Mr. Hardwick was born in Horry County, a son of Ida A. Hardwick and the late Emory James Hardwick. Mr. Hardwick was a member of Berea Baptist Church, the York Rite Masonic Lodge and the Jamil Shrine Temple.
Surviving in addition to his mother of Aynor, are his wife, Myrtle R. Hardwick of Aynor, three sons, Stephen L. Hardwick of Manning, Gregory R. Hardwick of Aynor and Michael W. Hardwick of Columbia, one daughter, Lynda S. Hardwick of Charleston, four brothers, E.J. Hardwick, Jr. of Aynor, L.B. Hardwick, of Columbia, Gene Hardwick of Garden City, and Harrell Hardwick of Conway, two sisters, Angie Johnson and Agnes Roberts both of Galivants Ferry, six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

VARNVILLE - Mr. Frank S. Marcinczyk, 72, of 225 Partridge Lane in Varnville, died Friday evening at the home of his daughter and son in law in Varnville. Mr. Marcinczyk was born in Sayreville, New Jersey April 28, 1929 a son of the late Walter and Bertha Marcinczyk. He had retired as a Lab Technician with the National Lead Company, in Sayreville, New Jersey, before moving to Varnville, 7 years ago. He was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hampton.
He is survived by his wife: Betty Lee Marcinczyk of Varnville; Daughter and son in law; Amy and Gary Jaskowisk of Varnville; also a brother and sister both in New Jersey.
