BECKMANN, Carrie
Carrie Atkinson Beckmann, 69, of Charleston entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, January 2, at a local hospital. Born in Charleston to the late Frank Atkinson and the late Eula Smoak Atkinson Diamond. She was the wife of the late "Chief" Walter Beckmann, III. Mrs. Beckmann was retired bookkeeper for Strachan Shipping Company, a volunteer at St. Francis Hospital, and a member of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church where she was a member of the Women's Guild. She is survived by her daughter, Michel B. Long of Hollywood, S.C., a brother, Martin H. Diamond of Charleston, and a sister, Carol Burkholder of Germantown, Ohio, and a grandson, Trevor Schachte Long. She was predeceased by her son, Walter (Wally) Schachte Beckmann, and a sister, Marcia Bommarito Diamond. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m., Friday, January 4, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery. MCALISTER-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, DOWNTOWN CHAPEL, is serving the Beckmann family.

DANIELS, Izeta
Mrs. Izeta Jones Daniels of 15 Devereaux Ave., Charleston, S.C., died December 31, 2001. Mrs. Daniels was a retired school teacher with the Charleston County Public School System and a lifelong member of the A.K.A. Sorority, Inc. She is survived by her daughter, Martinez Daniels, grandchildren, Eric, Jamilla, and Izeta, a host of cousins, relatives and friends. She was a member of New Tabernacle Fourth Baptist Church. Friends may call in the Chapel at Harleston-Boags, Inc., on Friday afternoon, January 4, 2002, from 4 until 7 p.m. Mrs. Daniels will be entombed in Sunset Memorial Gardens on Saturday, January 5, 2002, after a private service. MCKINNISH, SR., Bobby
Bobby Phil McKinnish, Sr., 66, of Goose Creek, a retired Navy Master Chief, died Wednesday, in a North Charleston hospital. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, in Carolina Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Carolina Memorial Gardens. Born in Spartanburg, he was the son of Phil McKinnish and Edna Cochran McKinnish. Mr. McKinnish was a member of Gospel Light Baptist Church. He was the widower of Paulina Steele McKinnish. Survivors include sons, Steve Vernarec of Goose Creek, David Vernarec of Allentown, Pa., Sam McKinnish and Phil McKinnish, both of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Bobby McKinnish, Jr., of Spartanburg; daughters, June Outland and Linda Herbert, both of Goose Creek, Michelle Herbert of Moncks Corner, and Donna McKinney of Spartanburg; a sister, Betty McKinnish Phillips of Cowpens; 16 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home.

Brenda Thornhill (Ronald), Mrs. Terry Ford (George), Mr. Ronald Hutchinson (Eula), Mrs. Trudy Brown, Ms. Karen Hutchinson, Mr. Rodney Hutchinson (Pam), Mr. Darry Brown, Mr. Omar Brown, the late Shirley A. LOWDER, David
Mr. David Eugene Lowder, 64, of Tobacco Road, St. Stephen, S.C., a retired Dispatcher and Supervisor with Overnight Transportation Company, died Wednesday in a Charleston hospital.
The funeral will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 6, 2002, in Harristown Road Baptist Church, St. Stephen, S.C. Interment will be in St. Stephen Baptist Cemetery. Friends may call at the ST. STEPHEN CHAPEL OF DIAL-MURRAY FUNERAL HOME from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 5, 2002.
Mr. Lowder was born January 15, 1937, in Manning, S.C., a son of Grady Lee Lowder and Dorothy Ren Westbrook Lowder Higdon. He was of the Presbyterian faith. He was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Jones Mooring.
Surviving are his wife, Donna Warner Lowder; six daughters, Alice Faye Outen of Summerville, Patricia Ann Atkinson of Princeton, N.C., Rebecca Bodiford of Bonneau, Tracey Legnard of California, Gwendolyn McCranie of Colorado, and Amber Lowder of St. Stephen; two sons, Charles Lowder of Pinopolis and David McCranie of Macedonia; two sisters, Virginia Herring and Mary Frances Wells both of Goldsboro, N.C. and one brother, Grady Lee Lowder, Jr. of Norfolk, Va.; and 24 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

STONE, Deanna
Deanna Kennett Stone, 36, of Crawford Road, Bonneau, S.C., a former clerk with The Pantry Convenience Store, died Thursday in a Charleston hospital.
The funeral will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2002, in Victory Baptist Church, Macedonia. Interment will be in Bonneau Baptist Cemetery. Friends may call at DIAL-MURRAY FUNERAL HOME, MONCKS CORNER, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Friday, Jan. 4, 2002.
Mrs. Stone was born July 6, 1965 in Greenville, S.C., a daughter of Charles F. Kennett and Shirley Kimbrell Kennett. She graduated from St. Stephen Academy and was a member of Victory Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband, Rodney Dale Stone; two sons, Kelly Dale Stone and Dylan Avery Stone both of Bonneau; her mother and father of Bonneau; a sister, Aimee K. Ward of Bonneau; a brother, Charles A. Kennett, Sr. of Gray Court, S.C.; and a grandmother Jean M. Kennett of Greenville, S.C.

RUSSELL, SR., John
John "JC" Curtis Russell, Sr., 81 of 7070 Hunters Chapel Rd., Bamberg, S.C., husband of Myrline C. Russell, died January 3, 2002 at an Lexington Medical Center after an extended illness.
He was born March 2, 1920 in Eutawville, S.C. in Orangeburg County a son of the late John Marvin Russell and the late Marie Crummie Russell.
He was a retired carpenter and farmer and a member of Spring Branch Baptist Church of Bamberg, S.C.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 5, 2002 at Spring Branch Baptist Church. Burial in church cemetery with Rev. Donnie Delk and Dr. Richard D. Crider officiating. Body is to be placed in the church at 10:00 a.m.
Surviving are his wife, Myrline Crider Russell; one son, Curtis of Summerville, S.C.; 3 daughters, Johnnie R. Frye of Columbia, Patricia R. Fair of Kernersville, N.C. and Deborah R. Morris of Irmo, S.C.; 3 brothers, Marvin Russell of Bamberg, S.C., Billy Russell of Charleston, S.C. and Eugene Russell of Savannah, Geo.; 7 sisters, Susie Thomas of Fairfax, S.C., Margaret Garrett of Bamberg, S.C., Odell Smoak of Charleston, S.C., Verna Padgett and Doris Ayer of Bamberg, S.C., Norma Bell of Salley, S.C. and Barbara Bell of Springfield, S.C.; 7 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday, January 4, 2002 at COONER FUNERAL HOME, Bamberg, S.C. Memorials to be made to Spring Branch Baptist Church, Bamberg, S.C.

CHANCE, Daniel
Daniel Chance, 61, of Alvin, a retired Georgia Pacific employee, died Thursday at a North Charleston hospital.
The graveside funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Saturday at Johnson Cemetery, Beaver Dam. Burial will be directed by RUSSELL FUNERAL CHAPEL, Moncks Corner.
Mr. Chance was born December 28, 1940 at Macedonia, S.C., a son of Jerry Wilson Chance and Ella Mae Mills Chance. He was a graduate of Macedonia High School. He was of the Pentecostal Holiness Church faith.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Lee Schurlknight Chance of Alvin; three sons, Larry D. Chance, Brad M. Chance and David D. Chance all of Alvin; brother, Jimmy Chance of Macedonia; two sisters, Etta Mae Wyndham and Jenelle Watts both of Macedonia; two grandchildren, Brittany Chance and Brandon Chance.

SUCKOW, Francis
Francis "Frank" Arthur Suckow, 73, husband of Dory Suckow, of Ladson, S.C. died December 29, 2001 at his residence.
Memorial services will be held at the Ladson VFW #3433, Saturday, January 5, 2002 at 2 o'clock.
Burial will be private.
Mr. Suckow was born January 21, 1928 in Jamestown, N.Y., a son of the late Charles Suckow and Bertha Chandler Suckow. He was a veteran of World War II and a retired Senior Chief in the U.S. Navy. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, a member of the VIP Unit of the Dorchester Shrine Club, and the Ladson VFW.
Survivors include his wife of Ladson; two daughters, Georgia Haselden of Summerville, S.C., Sandy Rago of Las Vegas, Nev.; one brother, Charles Suckow of Palatka, Fla. and two grandchildren, Ariel and Drayton Haselden. He was pre-ceceased by a son, Francis A. Suckow, Jr.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ladson VFW Cancer Aid and Research, c/o Shirley Houck, P.O. Box 1533, Summerville, S.C. 29484.

BRANHAM, Kenneth
Kenneth Eugene Branham, 58, of Summerville, S.C. died January 3, 2002 at a Summerville hospital.
Memorial services will be held at Parks Funeral Home Chapel, Saturday, January 5, 2002 at 12 o'clock. Burial will be private.
Mr. Branham was born January 6, 1943 in Camden, S.C., a son of the late Eugene Branham and Freddie Dillingham Branham. He was a self-employed painter.
Survivors include one daughter, Gwen Hoofstetter of Folly Beach, S.C.; two sons, Kenneth E. Branham, Jr. of Camden, S.C. and Amon Scott Branham of Johns Island, S.C. and seven grandchildren.

ST. GEORGE, S.C. - Pershing A. (Pudney) Marchant age 81, of Indian Field Circle, St. George died Thursday January 2, 2002 in a Charleston hospital. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday in Bryant Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Betty Hughes and Rev. Douglas Marchant officiating. Burial will follow in Indian Field United Methodist Church. Pallbearers will be Ernie Knight, Dean Jackson, J.P. Jackson, Walter Wagers, Kedron Floyd, Tony Greene. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday evening at Bryant Funeral Home. Mr. Marchant was born October 7, 1920 in St. George a son of the late Louise Marchant Benton. He was a retired employee of Giant Cement Company and a member of Indian Field United Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife, Geraldine Johnston Marchant, St. George; a son, James Lewis (JL) Marchant, Branchville; a daughter, Glenda M. Jackson, St. George; 3 sisters, Velma Troutman, Orangeburg, Cherry Kizer, Reevesville, Ailene Canaday, North Charleston; grandchildren, Christopher Berry, Dorchester, Stephanie Myers, Jason Marchant, both of Branchville; 2 great-grands, Jo Anna Myers and Jessie Myers, Branchville.

The relatives and friends of Arthur Emmett Shields, widower of Iver Hersey Shields are invited to attend his funeral services in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., GREENRIDGE ROAD CHAPEL this (Friday) afternoon at two o'clock. Burial will be private at a later date.

WELCH, William
Entered into eternal rest on the evening of January 1, 2002, The Reverend William Boyd Welch, 89, of North Charleston, South Carolina, widower of Lonnie Lemons Welch. The relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral services in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., GREENRIDGE ROAD CHAPEL Saturday afternoon, January 5, 2002, at three o'clock. Interment, Carolina Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at Stuhr's Greenridge Road Chapel this (Friday) evening from six until eight o'clock.

Reverend Welch was born May 1, 1912 in Gastonia, North Carolina, the son of the late Milton Welch and Josie Phillips Welch. Mr. Welch was ordained in Fitzgerald, Georgia in 1942 and had served as an elder and signer of the charter to establish the South Carolina District of the Church of the Nazarene. Reverend Welch received many theological honors during his years of service to the Church of the Nazarene in South Carolina and nationwide. Reverend Welch prior to retirement served as pastor of the First Church of the Nazarene (Helm Avenue) North Charleston for 27 years and had served churches in Chester and Union, South Carolina as well as churches in both Alabama and Mississippi. During his approximate fifteen years of evangelization, Reverend Welch served in most all the southern states, the pacific area of our country and many other states.
He served in many capacities with the Nazarene church to include the Advisory Board of the South Carolina District, the Camp Board, the Ways and Means Board, and the Orders and Relations Board. Reverend Welch also had been a trustee of Trevecca Nazarene College in Nashville, Tenn., and served as a general assembly delegate, he also received the Distinguished Service Award from the South Carolina District Conference of the Church of the Nazarene.
Surviving are one son, Dr. W. Melvin Welch and wife Joyce of Nashville, Tenn.; two daughters, Connie W. and husband Tom Cooper of North Charleston, S.C. and Joy W. and husband Kenneth King of Memphis, Tenn.; one brother, Homer Welch of Gastonia, North Carolina; eight grandchildren; David and Doug Erickson, Tommy Cooper, Susan McGranahan, Lisa Southers, Cherri Harris, Todd Welch and Timmy Welch. Six great-grandchildren: Jason, Josh and Jake Erickson, twins Chase and Shane Erickson and Allyssa McGranahan and predeceased by a great-grandson Ian McGranahan.

PHILLIPS, David
Entered into eternal rest on Thursday morning, January 3, 2002, David Ernest Phillips. Residence, North Charleston, South Carolina. All services will be private. Arrangements will by J. HENRY STUHR, INC., GREENRIDGE ROAD CHAPEL.
Mr. Phillips was born July 26, 1940 in Fairfield County, South Carolina, son of the late Walter Furman and Mae Mattox Phillips.
Surviving are two sisters, Rebecca Jane Little and Margaret Carol Colitte both of North Charleston, S.C.; four brothers, Billy Ray Phillips, Johnny Marvin Phillips, Richard Pierce Phillips all of Charleston, S.C., Berley Gene Phillips of Norfolk, Va.; seven nieces and nine nephews.

TULLUCK, William
ORANGEBURG - William Ernest "Bill" Tulluck, 90 of 350 Pike St. died Tuesday, January 1, 2002 after an extended illness.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 4, 2002 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church with Rev. Ray Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Miller is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Evelyn Richardson, her grandchildren, Ms. Rosalind Richardson, Mr. Joseph Richardson, Mr. Richard Magwood and Ms. Debra Middleton, 10 great-grandchildren, her sister and brother, Mr. Leroy Bennett (Leola), and Mrs. Helen Takeall, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
