It is with deepest regret that we announce the passing of our beloved sister, Mrs. Viola Glover Milton, who departed this life on January 5, 2002, in Bronx, N.Y.
She leaves to mourn her passing, three sisters, Mrs. Mary Carter of Bronx, N.Y., Mrs. Wilhelmena White of Charleston, S.C., Mrs. Ella Mae Glover of Jacksonville, Fla., and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. BARNES, Charles
CHARLOTTE - Mr. Charles Edward Barnes, 68 of Morganton, N.C. died Tuesday January 8, 2002. Mr. Barnes was born in Morganton on February 25, 1933 to the late Glenna Viola Branch and Walter Moore Barnes. He was preceded in death by a brother Walter Moore Barnes, Jr.
Services for Mr. Barnes will be held at Harry & Bryant Co. Chapel 11:00 a.m. Friday January 10, 2002 with the Rev. Dr. W. Wallace Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at 12:30 p.m. in the Grandview Memorial Park, Rock Hill, S.C.
Mr. Barnes was a member of the Civil Air Patrol and maintained an interest in flying. He was employed by both The Charlotte News and The Charlotte Observer, however, he spent most of his career with Pic 'n Pay Stores as Vice President and Director of Advertising. He was best known as a fascinating historian with a passion for literature, poetry and art. He studied genealogy from a very early age and continued this research throughout his life. He will be remembered for his kindness, sensitivity, remarkable mind and wonderful sense of humor.
Mr. Barnes survivors include son Stephan Barnes of Charleston, S.C., daughter Kirstin Swimmer and devoted son-in-law David Swimmer, and Charles' beloved grandchildren Natalie and Jacob Swimmer, of Charlotte, N.C., who referred affectionately to him as "Beep or The Knower."
The family would like to express their special thanks to Cheryl Mrugalski, Beto Vizcarra, Dr. Edward Bradford, and Hospice of Charlotte.

The family of Mr. F.C. "Buster" Wilburn will receive friends Saturday, January 12, 2002 from 12 to 2:30 p.m. in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL. Mr. Wilburn died Sunday January 6, 2002. Funeral services will be held at the graveside in Riverview Memorial Park Saturday at 3 o'clock.
For over 40 years, Mr. Winburn was the owner of Home Appliance Service Co. and an antique shop on 190 King Street. He served in the U.S. Army in W.W. II in the European Theatre.
His wife, Carolina Utsey Winburn predeceased Mr. Winburn. He is survived by the following: 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Faye Davis and her husband Holt, of Marietta, Ga.; Carol Chaffin and her husband Harry of Snellville, Ga.; one brother, William C. SANTOS, Shavon
Shavon Rose Santos, beloved daughter and sister, died on Monday, January 7, 2002, at the home of her parents, Eugene and Yvonne Santos. She was 34 years old. In addition to her parents, she is survived by three brothers, Eugene William Santos of Charleston, S.C., Daniel Joseph Santos of Atlanta, Ga., Christopher Anthony Santos of Charleston, S.C., and one sister, Patricia Santos Farrelly of Charleston, S.C. Shavon graduated from Fort Johnson High School in 1986. She worked for Loving and Learning Educational Center as a daycare teacher and for Adventure Sightseeing, Inc., as an assistant to the Director of Tours. A brave and determined woman, Shavon battled a lifelong succession of heart-related illnesses and accompanying surgeries. She remained, throughout all of this, uncomplaining and loving to others, especially to her nieces and nephews, Christopher Conlon Santos, Summer Lawton Santos, Luke Santos Farrelly, Jared Charles Farrelly, and Isabel Rose Farrelly, all of Charleston, S.C. A liturgy of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, January 10, 2002, at 11 a.m., in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church on Savannah Highway. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Walter Eugene Evans, 62, of West Ashley, S.C., died January 6, 2002, at a Charleston hospital.

Mr. Evans was born May 4, 1939, in Charleston, S.C., a son of Walter Lewis Evans and Louise Dukes Evans. He was a retired small engine mechanic with Charleston County and a retired photographer for the Charleston Post & Courier. He had formerly served in the U.S. Coast Guard.
Survivors include a daughter, Deborah Lynn Evans Waltz of Cottageville, S.C., a brother and sister-in-law, John W. ASHBORO, N.C. - Mr. James L. (Tommie) Benton, 76, died Thursday, January 3, in Ashboro, N.C., after a long illness. A Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, January 12, in Belmont Baptist Church, 901 Mason Road, Columbia, S.C., with Rev. Ed Stokes, Rev. James Truesdale, and Rev. Harry Girtman officiating. Visitation will be in the church sanctuary at the conclusion of the service. Burial will be private.
Mr. Benton was born November 1, 1925, in Great Falls, S.C., a son of the late Samuel Moses Benton and Lila Stokes Benton. He was a graduate of Olympia High School, and attended Columbia Bible College. He was a Baptist and a Deacon. He founded Modern Supply Company of Columbia, a firm that promoted institutional fund-raising projects in Georgia and the Carolinas. In mid-life he launched a missions related project designed to expedite the spread of the Gospel in South America and Mexico. He pursued this effort for ten years before failing health forced him into retirement. He was a retired self-employed salesman and was the widower of Ouida Elliott Benton.
Surviving are a sister, Helen Benton of West Columbia, S.C., brothers, Lenwood Benton and his wife Jean of Fort Lawn, S.C., and Billy Benton and his wife Jackie of Walterboro, S.C., nephews, Mike Benton and his wife Cathy of Walterboro and Charles Benton and his wife Margaret of Colfax, N.C., nieces, Shari B. Smith and her husband Billy of Charlotte, N.C., Betty Jean B. Sellers and her husband Donald, Brenda Benton, and Shirley B. Hooper, all of Wadesboro, N.C. He was predeceased by his parents and by a brother, Levis L. Benton.

GEORGETOWN - Minnie M. Isaac, 86, a retired accounting department employee with International Paper, died Monday, January 7, 2002, at her residence.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, January 11, 2002, at 11 a.m., in St. Mary Our Lady of Ransom Catholic Church. Officiating will be Rev. Edward Fitzgerald. Burial, directed by GRAHAM FUNERAL HOME, will follow in Elmwood Cemetery Annex.
She was born May 11, 1915, in Georgetown County, a daughter of the late Isaac and Mariam Thomas Isaac.
She was a member of the Quarter Century Club with International Paper. She was a member of St. Mary Our Lady of Ranson Catholic Church and a member of the Catholic Women's Club.
Surviving are, two sisters, Elizabeth Isaac Marcil of Mt. Pleasant and Margaret Isaac Hierholzer of Georgetown; a sister-in-law, Germaine R. Isaac of Georgetown and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a brother, Abraham F. Isaac and a sister, Frances C. Isaac.
A Vigil Prayer Service will be held at 6 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home, with visitation to follow until 8 p.m.

GOLDEN, JR., William
Mr. William Andrew Golden, Jr., 86, of 803 Willard St., in Hampton, S.C., died Tuesday, January 8, 2002, in a Hampton hospital.
Mr. Golden, born January 16, 1915, in Hampton, S.C., was the son of the late Pearl Bishop Golden and William Andrew Golden. He was educated in the Hampton schools and employed for 27 years by Brunson Auto Sales. He retired in 1978 from the S.C. Department of Education as Hampton-Allendale County School Bus Supervisor. Since that time, he had been associated with the family business, "Golden Hours Gifts." An active member of the First Baptist Church of Hampton, he had also served on the Hampton Town Council for 10 years and was a 50 year member of Evergreen Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Freeman Golden of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Frank B. Miley, Jr., of Hampton; grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Trey and Theresa Miley of Lexington, S.C.; granddaughter, Mindy Miley of Charleston, S.C.; and great-grandsons, Breland, Brooks and Bryce Miley of Lexington. Also surviving are a brother, Neal Golden of Hollywood, S.C., and sisters, Vera Owens of Hollywood, S.C., and Freddie DeLoach of Columbia, S.C. There are several nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by a sister, Pearl Lofton of McClellenville.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Hampton, conducted by Rev. Dr. Greg Clements and directed by PEEPLES-RHODEN FUNERAL HOME OF HAMPTON. Burial will follow in the Hampton Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 7 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
