SINGLEY, Marie
Marie Virginia Geiger Singley, of North Charleston, S.C., died Sunday, January 5, 2002 following a lengthy illness.
A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m., today, at the Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist, Broad Street, Charleston, S.C. Interment will follow at Riverview Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Church, 3921 St. John's Ave., N. Charleston, S.C. 29405. MCALISTER-SMITH FUNERAL HOME is serving the Singley family.
FIORILLO, Helen
Helen Ann Fiorillo died on Wednesday in a local nursing home. Mrs. Fiorillo was born on August 15, 1916, the daughter of John and Suise Mataca of Mt. Carmel, Pa.
On October 19, 1939 she married Antonio Fiorillo and they were blessed with 52 years of marriage which resulted in 3 children, 9 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. She and Antonio ran their family business in Sommers Point, N.J. in Graceville, Fla. and Screven, Ga. They moved to Walterboro, S.C. in 1989.
Antonio was taken from her April 1, 1991 and she has gone to join him. She is survived by her daughter, Cecile Ingersoil Lee of Summerville, S.C. and son Michael Fiorillo of Prattville, Ala., and her 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Lois F. Winemiller of James Island, S.C.
Friends may call at THE CREMATION CENTER, 11 Cunnington Ave., Charleston, S.C. (Across from Magnolia Cemetery) Friday, Jan. 11, 6:30 until 8 o'clock p.m. Memorial service will be held at Calvary Baptist Church, 942 Folly Rd., James Island, S.C. Saturday, Jan. 12 at 2 p.m.

RICHARDSON, John
SANTEE, S.C. - Mr. John Monroe Richardson, 70, husband of Hazel Frye Richardson, died Wednesday, January 9, 2002 at a local Charleston hospital after an illness.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, January 12 at Mullins-Marion Freewill Baptist Church, with Rev. William C. Jacobs officiating. Burial will follow in Devotion Gardens Cemetery, directed by Cox-Collins Funeral Home of Mullins.
Mr. Richardson was born August 18, 1931 in Horry County, a son of the late Jessie Calhoun Richardson and the late Gussie Capps Richardson. Mr. Richardson was a retired landscaper. He was a US Navy veteran, having served during the Korean War.
Surviving Mr. Richardson in addition to his wife of 48 years and of the home are: a son: John M. Richardson, II of Santee: 3 daughters: Sabrina O'Brien of Eutawville, 10 grandchildren: Jonathan, Julie and Kerri Metzendorf, Ashley and Ryne Mitchell, Zane and Cheyenne Smith and Chelsi, Dakota and Skyler Richardson; 2 brothers: J.C. Richardson of Mullins and Norman L. Richardson of Kenlye, N.C., and 4 sisters: Venia Brown of Johnsonville, Gladys Wallace of Florence, Esther Sawyer of Marion and Ruth Brady of Marion.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 2680, North Canton, Ohio 44720 or to the charity of one's choice.
Visitation will be held Friday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at COX-COLLINS FUNERAL HOME of Mullins.

Walter Eugene Evans, 62, of West Ashley, S.C., died January 6, 2002, at a Charleston hospital.
Graveside services will be held at Summerville Cemetery, Friday afternoon, January 11, 2002, at 2 o'clock.

Jerry Claude Benton, 56, of Summerville, S.C., husband of Peggy Benton, died January 9, 2002, at his residence.

VARNER, Joseph
Joseph McGilvery Varner, 85, of Ridgeville, S.C. died January 10, 2002 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at Ridgeville Southern Methodist Church, Saturday afternoon, January 12, 2002 at 2 o'clock. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mr. Varner was born April 11, 1916 in Ridgeville, S.C., a son of the late Joseph Peter Varner and Annie Saulisbury Varner. He was the retired co-owner of Engelberg Grocery and Furniture Store of Ridgeville, S.C. and a member of Ridgeville Southern Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Eulalie Wolf Varner, of Ridgeville, S.C., 1 daughter, Wanda V. Smith of Ridgeville, S.C., 2 brothers, Vance (Shorty) Varner of Ridgeville, S.C. and Dennis H. Varner of Walterboro, S.C., 2 sisters, Doris Powell and Nora Outzs both of Summerville, S.C., 2 grandchildren, Dewayne R. Smith and his wife, Kathy, of Summerville, S.C. and Candace (Cissy) Niemira and her husband, Rick of Ridgeville, S.C., 7 great-grandchildren, Dewayne R. Smith, II and Tristin L. Smith, both of Summerville, S.C., Kaylyne B. Niemira, Shayne Niemira, Chayse Niemira, Paytyne Niemira and Kayde Miemira, all of Ridgeville, S.C.

Mr. Gallick was born December 7, 1927 in Pittsburgh, Pa., a son of the late Ruth Gallick. He was a retired Staff Sgt., USAF, serving in both Korea and Vietnam. He was also a member of the V.F.W.
Surviving are his wife, Esther M. Yazzie Gallick of Ladson, S.C.; 2 sons, James Gallick and his wife, Shelia, both of Goose Creek, S.C. and Joseph Gallick of Summerville, S.C.; 1 daughter, Sandra G. Dorothy and her husband Charles, both of Summerville, S.C.; 6 grandchildren, Christopher Gallick of Goose Creek S.C., Jeffrey Gallick of Summerville, S.C., Jason Olier of Folly Beach, S.C., Cody Dorothy, Charlene Dorothy and Jennifer Gallick all of Summerville, S.C.
CANEDA, Jonathan
AUGUSTA - Jonathan Wayne Caneda, 48, entered into eternal rest January 2, 2002 in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Calvary Episcopal Church.
Survivors are his mother, Epifania L. Caneda, four children, Bridgette Lott, Chante Procell, Jonathan Caneda, Leslie Caneda, two brothers, Frank Caneda, Jr. and Brian Caneda, two sisters, Stephanie Moseley and Cynthia McBride; and three grandchildren.
Mr. Caneda was a marketing executive with Makestar, a board member of Crisis Ministries in Charleston, S.C. and was also a musician.

He is survived by Mrs. Thelma Goodman (Asst. Pastor of Job Missionary Baptist Church of Goose Creek); children, Angelo Goodman and Demetrius Chaney of N. Chas., Angela Goodman Green (Wendell) of Goose Creek, S.C. One brother, Mr. Fletcher Goodman of Queens, N.Y.

Vernon L. "Cootie" Haynes, 55, of Lisenby Dr., Moncks Corner, S.C., a former contractor and a painter at the Charleston Naval Shipyard, died Wednesday at his residence.
The funeral will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon, Jan. 12, 2002, in the Oakley Road Church of God. Interment will be in Berkeley Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at DIAL-MURRAY FUNERAL HOME, MONCKS CORNER, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. this Friday evening.
Mr. Haynes was born Oct. 25, 1946, in Olanta, S.C., a son of the Rev. Ralph George Haynes and Alphageena Tedder Haynes. He attended the Summerville Church of God.
Surviving are his wife, Mildred Skipper Haynes; his mother of Moncks Corner; two daughters, Susie H. Garrett and Alice H. Cross both of Moncks Corner; a son, Derrick L. Haynes of Moncks Corner; a brother, Gene Haynes of Moncks Corner; and six grandchildren.

Mary F. Hallowell, 83, of Frisco, Tex. passed away Wednesday, Jan. 9th, at her family residence.
Memorial services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 12th, First United Methodist Church in Frisco conducted by Rev. Russell Floyd under the direction of Cantrell Funeral Home of Frisco.
Mrs. Hallowell was born Nov. 3, 1918 in Augusta, Ga. a daughter of the late Perrin L. & Mattie Norma Huntington Benson. She married James Hallowell, August 2nd, 1942 in Charleston, S.C. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Frisco and was a retired retail buyer.
Surviving are a husband, James Hallowell of Frisco, Texas; a daughter, Kay Adams of Greenville, Texas; 6 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.
