SKINNER, Frederick
Entered into eternal rest on the morning of January 13, 2002, Frederick Evan Skinner, 75, of Charleston, S.C., husband of Betty Jo Brockman Skinner. The relatives and friends are invited to attend his graveside services in Live Oak Memorial Gardens Tuesday, January 15, at 11 o'clock. Friends may call Monday, January 14 at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTWON CHAPEL from 5 until 7 p.m.
Mr. Skinner was born June 28, 1926, in Pregnall, S.C., a son of George Prothro Skinner and Lessie Rumph Skinner.
Mr. Skinner was a retired salesman with Burroughs Corporation. He was a 1948 graduate from the College of Charleston, a member of the Alumni Association of the College of Charleston, and a member of the American Legion Post #147 of James Island, S.C. He was a Marine Corps. Veteran of World War II.
Mr. Skinner is survived by his wife of Charleston, S.C.; one daughter, Susan S. Watkins and her husband, Buddy, of Charleston, S.C.; two granddaughters, Hope Watkins of Atlanta, Ga., and Beth Watkins of Charleston, S.C.; three sisters, Margaret S. Farrell of Dennis, Mass., Agnes S. Traynor of Towson, Maryland, and Ida S. Weathers of Charlotte, N.C.; and two brothers, Hickson P. Skinner of Charleston, S.C. and E. Allan Skinner of Hartford, Conn.
Memorials may be made to The Salvation Army, 2135 Ashley River Road, Charleston, S.C. 29407.

MANER, Henry
Henry Ellis Maner, 69, of Goose Creek, S.C., husband of Coleen Grooms Maner, died January 12, 2002 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at Parks Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday afternoon, January 16, 2002 at 2 o'clock. Burial will be in Carolina Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at PARKS FUNERAL HOME, SUMMERVILLE, S.C. this Tuesday evening from 6-8 o'clock.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the American Lung Association, 1817 Gadsden Street, Columbia, S.C. 29201 or American Heart Association, 215 East Bay Street, Suite 204, Charleston, S.C. 29401.
Mr. Maner was born on October 2, 1933 in Mt. Croghan, S.C., a son of the late Benjamin Maner and Sadie Yatts Maner. He was a retired sheet metal worker at the Charleston Naval Shipyard Shop 17. He was a U.S. Navy, U.S. Air Force and U.S. Army/National Guard veteran, serving during the Korean War. He was Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Coleen Grooms Maner of Goose Creek; two daughters, Linda D. Yon of Meggett and Dorothy C. St. Cyr, of Summerville; six sons, Jeff Maner of Charlotte, N.C., Percy Grooms of Eutawville, David Grooms of Moncks Corner, Joseph Grooms of Goose Creek, James Witt of Summerville and Heyward Witt of Bonneau; two sisters, Arlene Courtney and Tona Carnes; both of Pageland, S.C.; twenty grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren.

Cleo Elizabeth Cantey, 68, of Mt. Pleasant, entered into eternal rest on Friday, January 11, 2002 at a local hospital. A liturgy of Christian burial will be today in the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, 120 Broad Street at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Lawrence Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Bishop England Endowment Fund, 363 Seven Farms Drive, Daniel Island, S.C. 29492 or the St. Joseph Residence, Priest Retirement Fund, P.O. YOUMANS, Blanche
Entered into eternal rest on the morning of January 13, 2002, Blanche Coleman Youmans, widow of Nicholas Young and Gird Elvin Youmans, residence, Charleston, S.C. The relatives and friends are invited to attend her graveside services in Bethany Cemetery, Tuesday, January 15, 2002, at 2 o'clock. Friends may call Monday, January 14th at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL from 5 until 7 o'clock.
Mrs. Youmans was born May 25, 1905, in Charleston, S.C., a daughter of Thomas C. Coleman and Jennie Elizabeth Coleman.
She was a homemaker and a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Youmans is survived by one son, Charles T. Young of Charleston, S.C., four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

HACKETT, Vivian
Entered into eternal rest on January 13, 2002, Vivian C. Hackett, widow of Ned D. Hackett, of Charleston, S.C.
Mrs. Hackett was born June 11, 1908, a daughter of Harry Nelson Crile and Abbie Miller Crile.
Mrs. Hackett is survived by one son, Curtis J. Hackett of James Island, S.C.; one daughter, Yvonne H. Oliver of James Island, S.C.; eight grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; eleven great-great-grandchildren and one brother, Harry N. Crile, Jr. of Copley, Ohio.
All services will be private with arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN FUNERAL CHAPEL.

MARTIN, William
The relatives and friends of William Henry "Harry" Martin, widower of Lizette Henrietta Rosebrock Martin, are invited to attend his graveside services in Riverview Memorial Park, Monday, January 14, at 2 o'clock.
Mr. Martin is survived by one daughter, Margaret M. Ballzigler of Johns Island, S.C.; one granddaughter, Beverly L. Ballzigler of Johns Island, S.C.; one grandson, Harry D. Ballzigler and his wife Katie T., of James Island, S.C.; two great-grandchildren, Daniel C. Ballzigler and Brandon L. Ballzigler and many nieces and nephews.

COX, Buddie Lee
Entered into eternal rest on January 12, 2002, Buddie Lee Cox, husband of Jane Marie Heffernan Cox, United States Navy (Retired). Residence, Goose Creek, South Carolina. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Buddie Lee Cox are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial of the former in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Wednesday, January 16, 2002 at 10 o'clock. Friends may call at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., GREENRIDGE ROAD CHAPEL Tuesday evening, January 14, 2002, between 6 and 8 o'clock where The Rosary will be recited at 7 o'clock. The prayers of final commendation and farewell will be held at the Beaufort National Cemetery, Beaufort, South Carolina at 1:30 o'clock on Wednesday, January 15, 2002.
Mr. Cox was born November 16, 1940 in East Alton, Illinois, the son of the late Medford Monroe and Dorothy Osborne Cox. He retired from the United States Navy as Chief Machinists Mate and retired from the Charleston Naval Shipyard as an Engineering Technician. Mr. Cox was a member of the V.F.W. Post 1025. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Surviving are his wife of Goose Creek, S.C., one son, Kevin Joseph Cox of Burgaw, N.C., two grandchildren, Gabrielle and Gemma, daughter-in-law Terra Tompkins Cox all of Burgaw, N.C.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 510 St. James Ave., Goose Creek, S.C.

WREN, Jeffrey
Jeffrey Humbert Wren, 38, died unexpectedly Saturday afternoon in a local hospital after a brief illness. His funeral service will be 12:00 o'clock Tuesday, January 15, 2002 in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTH AREA CHAPEL, DORCHESTER ROAD. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home this evening (Monday) from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.
Jeff was born in Charleston on December 9, 1963 a son of the late Asa W. and Sadie Chestnut Wren. A graduate of North Charleston High School, he had attended Trident Technical College. An avid golfer, sportsman, and musician, he was an installer for Personal Touch Flooring Service. He was a member of Holmes Avenue Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Sherri Iseman Wren, his daughter, Deonna Wren of Alton, Va., his sister, Palmalea Wren Pratt of Savannah, his brothers, Chris Wren of Columbia, David Taylor of Mountain View, Calif., and William Taylor of Augusta. He is also survived by a special nephew, David Taylor, Jr. as well as several nieces and nephews.
Memorials are suggested to Liver Research, c/o MUSC Health Services Foundation, 171 Ashley Ave., Charleston, S.C. 29425.

PYE, Thomas
Thomas S. Pye, 79, of Charleston, died Friday, January 11, 2002, at a local hospital. He was born in Charleston to Cyrus Claude and Margaret Whetsell Pye. He was a retired General Contractor with Thomas Pye Contracting Co. He was a member of the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist Church. Thomas is survived by his wife, Leona Burkowski Pye, five sons, Harold Claude Pye of Atlanta, Ga., James A. Pye of Charleston, David Ernest Pye of Texas, Leslie William Pye and Charles Artie Pye, both of Charleston, and five grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, John Thomas Pye. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., tonight at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, Downtown Chapel, 150 Wentworth St. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held, Tuesday, at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 2711 Middleburg Dr., Suite 205, Columbia, S.C. 29204. POOLE, SR., Jay
GEORGETOWN - Jay C. Poole, Sr., 63, widower of Sarah A. Poole, died Friday, January 11, 2002, in a Georgetown hospital.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 13, 2002, at 3 p.m., in GRAHAM FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL. Burial, with military honors, will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.
He was born, March 24, 1938, in Georgetown County, a son of the late John Carey Poole and Fannie Elizabeth Mobley Poole.
He was a retired maintenance employee with International Paper. He retired in 1998 with 32 years service and was also a member of the Quarter Century Club with International Paper. He was a retired Sgt. E6 with the S.C. National Guard, having served with the HHB 4/178th FA Battery in Georgetown. He was an avid outdoorsman and was a member of the S.C. Chapter of Ducks Unlimited. He was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are, one daughter, Sarah J. Poole of Georgetown; one son, Robert A. Hayes of Georgetown; seven grandchildren, Carl A. Poole, Lorin M. Hayes, Jay A. (Abe) Idrissie, Christopher W. Howard, Caleb E. Hayes, Robert A. Hayes, Jr., and Taylor C. Hayes; four sisters, Marjorie P. Miller, Fay P. Lambert and Rebecca P. Walker, all of Georgetown, and Elsie P. Aelick of Charleston; three brothers, Edward C. Poole and Marion E. Poole, both of Georgetown, and Ra L. Poole of Florence, and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a son, Jay Carl Poole, Jr.; two sisters, Dean P. Taul and Laura L. Poole; two brothers, William L. Poole and Alan Poole.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Saturday, at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 950 48th Ave. N., Suite 101, Myrtle Beach, S.C. 29577.
