Mr. Bunch was born January 17, 1911 in Charleston, South Carolina, the son of Linwood Ernest Bunch and Wilhelmena Patterson Bunch. He was a member of Ashley River Baptist Church. He was a retired Shipfitter with the Charleston Naval Shipyard and a veteran of the Naval See Bee's. He was a member of the Ashley Lanes Bowling League.
He is survived by two daughters: Jane B. Roberts of Deming, New Mexico and Valerie B. Crawford of Charleston, S.C.; one son: Frank P. Bunch of Kaiserslautern, Germany; one step-daughter: Faye W. Dandridge of Marietta, Georgia; one nephew, Linwood Bunch of Florida; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

MONTGOMERY, C.
Mr. Christopher Montgomery 40, entered into eternal rest Wednesday, January 9, 2002 in Ogden, Utah. Christopher was born on September 4, 1961 in Charleston, SC, the son of Earthalee Montgomery and the late Christopher Montgomery. Known more affectionately as Monte' he received his education at Alice Birney Elementary and R.B. Stall High Schools in Charleston, SC. Monte' was a member of Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church, where he attended Sunday School, sang on the Youth Choir and served on the Youth Usher Board. Upon graduating from high school in 1979, he joined the US Air Force where he served his country honorably for 16 years. He achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant before being medically retired in 1995 at Hill Air Force Base, Ogden, Utah due to illnesses after returning from the Persian Gulf War. Monte' leaves to cherish his humor and loving memories: his devoted and loving wife Eliza, their son "Little" Chris; one stepson Chuma Oldridge, two step daughters, Brooklee and Uche Oldridge, two step granddaughters, Princetta and Jasmine; his mother, Earthlee Montgomery, three brothers, Eric Campbell, Anthony and Robert Montgomery; to sisters-in-law, Carmen Campbell and Kim Montgomery, two uncles; Joseph Waring and John Campbell, two aunts; Helen Waring and Jestine Campbell.
Funeral services for Monte' will be held on Saturday, January 19, 2002, 1:00 P.M. at Myers Mortuary in Ogden, Utah.
The Montgomery family wishes to extend sincere gratitude to all families and friends for all expressions of kindness and comfort extended during their period of bereavement. PIGORSCH, Dallas
JOHNSONVILLE, S.C. - Dallas J. Pigorsch, 83, died Tuesday Jan. 15, 2002 in a Florence nursing center. Mr. Pigorsch was born in Hope, KS, a son of the late Otto Theodore Pigorsch and the late Elizabeth Rifel Pigorsch. He was a retired shipfitter, a member of the Johnsonville United Methodist Church, a US Navy veteran of the Korean War and was a graduate of Hope High School.
Surviving are his wife. Cecile Taylor Pigorsch of the home; sister, Marion Cox of Stockton, CA; 3 nephews and 1 niece.
Funeral services will be held at 11am. Saturday in the Johnsonville United Methodist Church. Burial, directed by MORRIS FUNERAL HOME OF HEMINGWAY, will be in the Garden of Devotion Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 pm Friday.

RUFFIN - Mrs. Betty Connelly Givens, 60, of 2227 Miracle Drive, surrendered her gallant fight with cancer Thursday at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday at the chapel of the BRICE W. HERNDON AND SONS FUNERAL HOME. Interment will follow in Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery near Bells.
Mrs. Givens was born June 23, 1941 in Colleton County, a daughter of the late Riddick A. Connelly, Sr. and Mary Avant Connelly. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church, Ruffin charge. She loved animals and was an avid gardener who grew beautiful flowers.
Surviving are her best friend and loving and devoted husband of 17 years, Marshall Givens, two daughters, Suzanne Kinard and her husband Coy of Jackson, S.C. and Laura Ann Lucas of Walterboro, a sister, Jacquelin Craven of Canadys, two brothers, Riddick A. "Buddy" Connelly, Jr. and his wife Judy of Walterboro and J.P. Connelly and his wife Phyllis of Edisto Beach, two stepsons, Mark Givens and his wife Alice of Ruffin and Toby Givens and his wife Maija of Ruffin. She was a precious and loving grandmother to 8 grandchildren, Brittany Kinard, Brian Kinard, Amanda Lucas, Marsha Givens, Diana Givens, Denise Givens, Aaron Givens, and Callah Givens. She was a dear aunt to 3 nieces and 2 nephews.
Friends may visit the family from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday at the Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Home.

MARION, S.C. - Mr. Frank Tyson West, 81, died Wednesday, January 16, 2002, at his residence after an illness.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Friday, January 18, at First United Methodist Church of Marion, with Rev. Dennis Lee officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery, directed by SMITH-COLLINS FUNERAL HOME.
Mr. West was born January 10, 1921, in Georgetown, S.C., a son of the late Marshall Miles West and the late Annie Daniels West. Mr. West was President of Marion Lumber Co. from 1959 to 1970. He was owner and manager of Baywood Farms from 1970 until 1988. Mr. West was the S.C. Governor of the Southern Pine Bureau for four years, and a member of the Board of Directors of the S.C. National Bank. Mr. West entered the U.S. Army as a Second Lieutenant and served on the General Staff of Lt. General John Hodge, Commander of the XXIV Corps. He retired with the rank of Major in 1946. Mr. West graduated from Marion High School and Clemson University. Mr. West was a member of First United Methodist Church of Marion.
Surviving Mr. West are, his wife of 50 years and of the home, Sydnor Cain West; a daughter, Ann Reed Springs and her husband, John, of Murrells Inlet; two granddaughters, Lauren Sydnor Springs and Mary Alice Springs, both of Murrells Inlet; and a sister, Irene Hammersley of Chester, Va.
Mr. West was predeceased by his brother, Eugene West and Thomas West and his sisters, Helen Worrell and Lib Griffin.

THOMPSON, Mattie
FLORENCE - Mattie Brunson Thompson, 83, widow of Loyal Thompson, died Thursday, January 17, 2002, in a Florence hospital after an illness.
She was born in Clarendon County, S.C., a daughter of the late Hampton S. and Sallie Childers Brunson. Raised in Jordan, S.C., she moved to Florence with her family in 1951. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Thompson was a member of First Southern Methodist Church in Florence, the Christian Fellowship Sunday School Class, and the WMS Morning Circle.
Survivors include a son, L. Alex (Betty Jean) Thompson; two daughters, Frances T. "Betty" (Charles W.) Powell and Nancy Thompson, all of Florence; two sisters, Daisy Thompson of Manning, and Sybil Asaro of Charleston; five grandsons, Robin Thompson, Timmy Thompson, Shaw (Rebecca) Thompson, Chuck (Lynn) Powell, all of Florence, and Rennie (Michelle) Pratt of Fayetteville, N.C.; three granddaughters, Stacey Powell Shakley and Mary Ann Powell, both of Florence and Felicia Powell (Bob) Adam of Keene, N.H.; seven great-grandchildren, Chace, Chad, and Chandler Powell, Lauren and Lindsey Thompson and Tucker Shakley, all of Florence, and Mattie Ella Pratt of Fayetteville, N.C.

HUNNICUTT, Vernon
Vernon Watson Hunnicutt, 97, died January 17, 2002 at his home in Comer, Ga.
Born on a farm near Seneca, S.C., March, 1904, he was the son of Oscar A. and Beatrice F. Hunnicutt. At age 18 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and completed training at Great Lakes Naval Station. He served 6 months at which time he was voluntarily and honorably discharged due to a reduction in force following WWI. Shortly thereafter, he accepted employment with the American Telephone and Telegraph Co. He remained with AT&T for 42 years holding positions of lineman, cable splicer, field supervisor and with the home office in Atlanta, where he was equipment manager. Following retirement, he and his wife Mildred moved to the Comer area. Mildred, daughter of the late Bill and Mattie Caldwell, died in 1985. They had no children.
Vernon, a Scottish Rite Mason and Shriner was a member of the Shannon Masonic Lodge and the Valley of Atlanta Lodge. He was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.
Funeral services will be Saturday, January 19, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at Lord and Stephens Chapel, Danielsville with Cecil Hunnicutt and Rev. Scott Brown officiating. Interment will be in Meadow Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Billy Compton, Jerry Ayers, John Terrell, Sr., Lee Hunnicutt, Ed Hunnicutt, Gene West and Tommy Cochran.
Survivors include his brother, Cecil F. Hunnicutt of Mt. Pleasant, S.C. and 2 sisters, Mildred St. John and Ellen Heekin, both of Atlantic Beach, Fla.
