Angeles S. Tarver, 80, of Mexico City and Mount Pleasant, S.C., widow of Benjamin Marcus Tarver, died Tuesday, January 22, 2002, in a local hospital. Mrs. Tarver was born in Mexico City, Mexico, the daughter of Jose Sanudo and Dolores Andrade Sanudo. She attended Incarnate Word College in San Antonio, Texas. A loving housewife and mother, she divided her time with her daughters in Mt. Pleasant and Columbia, S.C.; and Laurenberg, N.C. Mrs. Tarver was a Catholic and regularly attended Christ Our King Catholic Church in Mt. Pleasant. The relatives and friends of Mrs. Tarver are invited to attend a Wake Service 3 p.m., Sunday, January 27, 2002, at Mc-Alister-Smith Funeral Home, East Cooper Chapel, 1520 Rifle Range Road, where visitors may call one hour prior to service. WILLISTON, S.C. - Virginia Simmons Behrens educator and writer died January 22, 2002 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Born in Wilmington, North Carolina on May 13, 1946, Ginny was a daughter of Leo and Iris Brunjes Simmons. She graduated from Winthrop University with a B.A. and M.A. degree with honors. Ginny worked in the Charlotte, North Carolina School System, and Thomson Georgia School System, University of South Carolina-Aiken, and Thomas Moore High School in Milwaukee.
Survivors include her parents of Williston, husband Harry J.A. Behrens, daughter, Katharina Behrens of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, sons: Karl Behrens of Milwaukee and Harry Behrens, Jr. of Macon, Georgia, sister: Dr. Rebecca S. Weatherby of Chesterfield, S.C., brother: Dr. L. Ben Simmons of Wilmington, Delaware.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, 2 o'clock p.m. at the Williston United Methodist Church, Williston, S.C. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial in the Williston Cemetery.
CLARK, John
Entered into eternal rest on the morning of January 24, 2002, John G. "Jack" Clark, husband of Wanda Marie Brown Clark, residence, Charleston, S.C. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. John G. Mr. Clark was born November 26, 1921 in Charleston, S.C., the son of John G. Clark and Estelle Mathis Clark. He was a retired Captain with the Charleston City Police Dept., Traffic Division. After his retirement he was employed as Assistant Supervisor with Charleston County School Guard System. He was a member of Asbury-St. James United Methodist Church. He served with the US Army/Air Corps during W.W.II.
He is survived by his wife of Charleston, S.C.; one son, Mark W. Clark and his wife Karen of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.; one sister: Elma Clark Davis of Auburndale, Florida; two grandchildren: William Gainsley Clark and Matthew Connor Clark. He was predeceased by two sons, John Gainsley Clark, III and Timothy David Clark.

WERTS, Annie
NEWBERRY, S.C. - Mrs. Annie Floyd Werts, 80, of 1126 Reeder Road, Bush River Section of Newberry County, wife of W. Tom Werts, died Thursday, January 24, 2002, at a Newberry hospital.
Mrs. Werts was born on May 5, 1921, in Silverstreet, a daughter of the late J. Guy and Minnie Davenport Floyd. She was retired from the Greenwood Mills, Joanna Plant. Mrs. Werts was a member of the Bush River Baptist Church and was a member of the Bush River Baptist Church and was a member of the WMU. She was a former Training Union Director, G.A. Director, and Sunday school teacher for the toddler class for many years.
Mrs. Werts is survived by her husband of the home; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Tommie Ann Danielsen and Betsy W. and Ricky O. Chapman all of Newberry and Rachel W. and Ronald G. Gilmore of Summerville; and four grandchildren, Laura D. Cousins and Will Chapman, both of Newberry, Rachel V. Gilmore of Rome, Ga., and Jeannie Chapman of Charleston; and one great-grandson, Caleb McCain Gilmore of Rome, Ga. She was predeceased by a daughter, Minnie Elizabeth Werts; a son-in-law, Larry T. Danielsen; and a granddaughter, Kristy Danielsen.
Funeral services for Mrs. Annie Werts will be conducted at 3 p.m., Saturday, January 26, 2002, at Bush River Baptist Church by the Rev. Glen Buie, Rev. Tommy Morrow, Rev. Tommy Daum and Rev. Arden Stewart. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.

Elizabeth von der Lieth Petit, 88, died on Friday, January 4, 2002 at a local nursing home. She was born January 25, 1913 in Charleston to the late Hugh Augustus von der Lieth and Lottie Marian Roberts von der Lieth. She was predeceased by her husband Lee Woodrow Petit. She was a graduate of Memminger Normal School for Girls, and a member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church. Mrs. Petit was retired from F.W. Woolsworth Co. in Charleston and was formerly with Regal's Dept. Store and Pastime Amusement Co. She was a member of The Golden Fellowship Club and Quis Qui Auxiliary. She is survived by two sons, Richard Lee Petit, of Charleston and Stephen Caldwell Petit of Moncks Corner, S.C.; two grandchildren, Stephen Caldwell Petit, II of Charlotte, N.C. and Paige Marie Petit of Moncks Corner. Kae Lucas, 81, of Mt. Pleasant, wife of Warren J. Lucas died Thursday, January 24th at her residence. Born in Galveston, Tex. to the late Mr. and Mrs. Louis "Red" W. Weber. She was an author of children's stories, cookbooks, and military humor. She wrote and produced many musical shows for the U.S. Air Force and was also a consultant. She is survived by her husband, a son, Scott Lee Hays of Washington, S.C., two brothers, Lewis W. Weber of San Antonio, Tex., and Robert Weber of Dallas, Tex., one granddaughter, Jamie Kathryn Schulke. She was predeceased by a daughter, Mary Lynne Shulke. WALTERBORO - Dr. Jim Bishop, M.D., 57, of 330 Wintergreen Road died Friday at his residence. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m., Tuesday, at the chapel of the BRICE W. HERNDON AND SONS FUNERAL HOME.
Dr. Bishop was born in Greenville, a son of Ethel Mae Coleman Bishop Owens and the late Ralph James Bishop, Sr. He was a graduate of Blue Ridge High School and of North Greenville Junior College. He was a 1968 graduate of Clemson University, where he graduated with high honors as a history major. He taught at Berea High School from 1968 until 1973. He was a 1979 graduate of the Medical University of South Carolina, where he received his doctorate degree. He practiced medicine fore 12 years at Orangeburg Regional Hospital and at Colleton Medical Center. He had a private practice for ten years in Ehrhardt and Walterboro. He was a former EMS Director for Colleton County.
Surviving in addition to his mother of Greenville are his wife, Gail Parham Bishop, daughters, Whitney Bishop of Walterboro and Lori Williams of Summerville, a son, Ralph James Bishop, III, of Goose Creek, daughters, Amee Meetze of Walterboro, Tracey Bishop of Anderson, Lynn Bishop and Amber Murdaugh, both of Walterboro, a son, Jeff Bishop of Anderson, daughter, Camile Contreras of Ladson, three brothers, Richard Bishop, Bill Bishop, and Roger Bishop, all of Greenville, an aunt, Beatrice Coleman of Greenville, and 17 grandchildren.

Mr. Rizer was born in Colleton County, a son of Mickie Robertson Rizer and the late George Gary Rizer, III. He attended St. Jude's Episcopal Church and had recently graduated from Willou Gray Academy in Columbia.
Surviving in addition to his mother of Bennetts Point are, two brothers, Derrick Rizer of Warrior, Ala., and DeWayne Rizer of Bennetts Point, a half-broher, Chris Rizer of Maine, a half-sister, Sherri Rizer of Atlanta, Ga., his paternal grandmother, Ottie Lee "Totsie" Rizer of Walterboro, and his maternal grandparents, Van and Sue Robertson of Warrior, Ala.

Surviving are two brothers: Lucius Platt of Meggett, S.C. and Walter Platt of Charleston, S.C.; one niece, Shirley Murray of North Charleston, S.C.; two nephews, Luke and Terry Platt of Meggett, S.C.; one sister-in-law, Doris Odom of North Augusta, S.C.
