The relatives and friends of Mrs. Etta (Nettie) Telfear of North Charleston, S.C., are invited to attend her funeral services, Tuesday, January 29, 2002, at 12 noon, at Royal Baptist Church, Liberty Hill, North Charleston, S.C. Interment, Peru Cemetery, St. Stephen, S.C. Mrs. Telfear will lie in state at the church on Tuesday from 10 a.m., until time of service. There will be no viewing after the funeral. THOMAS, Lottie
Lottie Palmer Capers Johnson Thomas, 98, died January 24, at Knollwood, following a stroke. She had been a Washington resident since 1956.
With her late husband, General Gerald Carthrae Thomas, a major figure in 20th Century Marine Corps history, and a veteran of World War I, World War II, and Korea, she served in many foreign posts, including Haiti, Panama, and the China Theatre of the 1930's and 1940's.
Mrs. Thomas was born May 27, 1903, in Charleston, S.C., a daughter of Dr. and Mrs. William H. Johnson. She attended the Misses Sass' Dame School, and graduated from Memminger High School in 1922. She became a member of the first provisional class of the Junior League of Charleston. She was married in 1924.
She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, Lafayette Square, the National Society of Colonial Dames of America, the Huguenot Society of South Carolina, Club of Colonial Dames, and the Army - Navy Club.
She was a past president and a 50 year member of the China Tiffin Club, and a founder and past president of the Marine Officers Wives Club. She had been a docent at Dumbarton House and a Grey Lady. She was an avid gardener.
Surviving are two daughters, Tina Bruder of Alexandria and Ginny Andrews of Washington, two sons, Colonel Gerald C. Thomas, Jr., USMC (Ret.), of the Plains, Va., and W.H. Johnson Thomas of Washington, 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

On Thursday, January 24, at Knollwood in Washington, D.C. Wife of the late General Gerald C. Thomas, USMC (Ret.), mother of Tina Bruder, Ginny Andrews, Colonel Gerald C. Thomas, Jr. USMC (Ret.), and W.H. Johnson Thomas. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at Fort Myer Chapel on Tuesday, February 12, at 11 a.m., burial in Arlington National Cemetery.

TELFEAR, Etta
Etta (Nettie) Green Telfear, age 89, died Wednesday, January 23, 2002, at a Charleston hospital. Born in St. Stephens, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Lorraine Davis Green. Her grandmother, the late Mariah Davis, raised her.
Mrs. Telfear was married to the late Willis Telfear, Sr., and educated in Berkeley County Public Schools. She was a member of Royal Baptist Missionary Church, the Grand Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, Queen Esther, #166, the Sons and Daughters of Elijah 4, Star Society, Liberty Hill, and North Area Ten #201, Charleston, S.C.
She is survived by step-children, Ethel Randolph (Philadelphia); Annabelle Lazenbury (Charleston), Willis Telfear, Jr., (Boston); brother-in-law, Edward Shaw; God-children, Etta Ferguson and Earl Middleton; devoted great-granddaughter, Donna Mitchell; step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Step-children, Albertha Grant and Isaiah Telfear; and step-grandson, Ronald Randolph, preceded Mrs. Telfear in death.

Marion Miele Colello, 83, of Ladson, wife of Charles Vincent Colello, died Friday morning in a North Charleston hospital.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, January 30, 2002 at 10 o'clock in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Goose Creek. Rite of Committal will be held in Dorchester Memory Gardens, Summerville.

Mrs. Colello was born March 7, 1918 in Jersey City, New Jersey a daughter of the late Valentine Miele and Mary Cardiello Miele.
Mrs. Colello was a graduate of New Jersey schools. She was a retired secretary with Home Laundry, Inc. and Colello Trucking where she was a bookkeeper. She was member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

Joseph Henry Busch, 84, of Summerville, died January 26, 2002 at a Charleston hospital.

Mr. Busch was born on September 3, 1917 in Summerville, S.C., a son of the late Henry E. Busch and Henrietta Charpia Busch. He was a retired carpenter for the Charleston Naval Shipyard and a member of Boone Hill United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Hudson Busch of Summerville; four daughters, Marinda Brogan of Goose Creek, Jean Oltman of Ladson, Gloria Wilson of Summerville and Nancy Marchant of Dinwiddy, Va.; three sons, Frank Busch of Black Mountain, N.C., Michael Busch of Florence, S.C. and Kevin Busch of Mountain Home AFB, Idaho; two stepsons, Royden Hudson of Walterboro, S.C. and Alphie Hudson of Ruffin, S.C.; two stepdaughters, Cherry Smyly of Ruffin and Patty Abercrombie of Summerville; two brothers, Ralph Busch of Port George, Va. and George Busch of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.; one sister, Henrietta Pierce of Sapulpa, Okla.; 13 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

ANDREWS - Wesley Buster Long, 74, of County Line Road, died Saturday evening, January 26, 2002 at a local Charleston hospital.
Funeral service will be 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 29, 2002, at the Holy Trinity Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial will follow in the Andrews Memorial Cemetery, directed by ANDREWS CHAPEL OF MCKENZIE FUNERAL HOME.

Mr. Long was born May 11, 1924, in Georgetown County, a son of Alice Long Smith. He was a retired employee of the Finishing and Shipping Dept. of International Paper Company, Georgetown Mill and was a member of the Andrews First Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Edna Morris Long of Andrews, are: three daughters, Shirley Jean L. Stewart and Carolyn L. Knight of Andrews, Peggy L. Kincande of Summerville; two brothers, Wilson Smith of Fort Pierce, Florida, and Golden Long of Germany; two sisters, Laura Mae Martin and Junita Webb both of Charleston; three grandchildren.

Mrs. Altman, widow of William H. Altman, died Saturday, January 26, 2002. Born in Lake City, S.C., she was a graduate of Lake City, S.C., she was a daughter of the late Luther B. and Mildred G. Lawrence. She was a graduate of Lake City High School, and Spencer Business College in New Orleans, La. She served in the Waves in World War II and she was a retiree of J.B. Whites at Dutch Square Mall in Columbia. She was a member of St. Andrews Baptist Church in Columbia.
Surviving are a son, Randall Lawrence Altman of West Columbia; two sisters, Barbara L. Cole (Frank) of Canadys, S.C., and Janice L. Causey (Jim) of Suisun, Calif.; and a number of nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, William H. Altman, Jr.

SANDERS, SR., Bennie
On Saturday, January 26, 2002, Bennie L. Sanders, Sr., of Cottageville, S.C. entered into eternal rest. He is survived by his daughter Jerrie Connor Jones and her husband, Bob, of Charleston; his son Bennie L. Sanders, Jr. and his wife, Linda, of Cottageville; his daughter, Barbara Sanders Rossignol of Atlantic Beach, Fla. and his daughter-in-law, Jennie Long Sanders of Beaumont, Texas.
Also left behind are a sister, Corine Marshall and her husband, Lewis of Branchville, S.C.; his sisters-in-law, Mary Owens, Vera Stemie, and Roselie Vashian and her husband, Johnny of Charleston; a brother-in-law, Bill Williams of Maryland and special friends, Jack and Ellen Bailey of Ladson.
To cherish his memory are 11 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of over 50 years, Ethel Fickling Sanders, also by his son, Robert M. Sanders, his sister, Nellie Murden, and a grandson, John Scott Jones, "Jackie Boy."
Mr. Sanders, an engineer, retired from National Linen Service. He was a member of Lydia Baptist Church of Lincolnville, S.C. and an active member of both the Round Lodge #270 of Cottageville and Omar Shrine Temple of Mt. Pleasant.

JORDAN, Jean
Jean Price Jordan, 70, of The Cypress at Charlotte, died on Monday, January 28, 2002, at Mercy Hospital South in Pineville, N.C. Mrs. Jordan was born on February 24, 1931 in Salisbury, N.C., a daughter of the late Ferdinand Robert Bowman Price and Margaret Witherspoon Price.
She was a graduate of St. Mary's College in Raleigh, N.C., a member of Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, and had been a member of the Mannequins of Charlotte. She lived at River Hills Plantation from 1971-1999, when she moved to The Cypress at Charlotte. Her greatest joy was her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was active in the Altar Guild, and enjoyed playing bridge, gardening, and cooking.
Mrs. Jordan is survived by her children, Julie Jordan Miller, and her husband Bud Miller, of York, S.C., Virginia Jordan Mitchell and her husband J.P. Mitchell, of Summerfield, N.C., Jord Hampton Jordan, III, of York, S.C., Robert Bowman Price Jordan, and his wife Amy Jordan, of John's Island, S.C. and Mary Margaret Jordan, and her husband Bill Hartin, of Columbia, S.C.; 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; and her aunt, Dorothy Price Wakefield, of Charlotte, N.C. Mrs. Jordan was preceded in death by her husband, Jord Hampton Jordan, Jr., in 1989.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 30, 2002, at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, 108 East Liberty Street, York, S.C. with Fr. Don Lowery officiating. Ms. Leath was born on February 21, 1921, in Andrews, S.C., a daughter of the late Nelson Fitzhugh Knight and Lou Esther Nettles Knight.
She was a graduate of Andrews High School. She was a mother and a granny. She was a member of Northwoods Baptist Church.
Surviving are, four daughters, Mary Jo Leath Tudor of North Charleston, Dianna Lyn Leath Clark of North Charleston, Barbara Louise Leath Fetterolf of Summerville, Patricia Leath Christensen of Summerville; two sons, David Glen R. Leath of North Charleston, Roudy James Leath of Carlyle, Ill.; 19 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Hazel Knight Evans of Andrews, Jean Knight Truett of Florence. Predeceased by all her brothers.
