ST. GEORGE - Mrs. Frances Weathers Kizer, 74, of St. George died Saturday January 26, 2002 in Summerville Medical Center. Funeral Services will be held 11 am Tuesday in the Indian Field United Methodist Church with Rev. Betty Hughes and Rev. Kim Strong officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Carl Campbell, Jr., Glen Stephens, Barry Stephens, Richard Crook, Bill Way, Ronnie Weathers, Richard Murray, and Rich Way. Mrs. Kizer was born January 6,1928 in St. George a daughter of the late Ellerbe Holroy Weathers and Lucy Lee Kizer Weathers. A graduate of Harleyville High School she had retired as Deputy Chief real estate clerk with Dorchester County Clerk of Court's office and was a member of Indian Field United Methodist Church. Surviving are: a daughter, Mrs. Myra (Ron) Connell, Summerville, 2 sisters, Mrs. Lucille (Carl) Campbell, and Mrs. Bobbie Stephens, both St. George. 2 grandchildren, Dustan (Aimee) Connell, and Celeste Connell, both of Summerville. Mr. Palassis was born July 29, 1938, in Charleston, S.C., son of Nicholas and Georgia Banis Palassis. He was a member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church. Mr. Palassis was a graduate of Rivers High School and Clemson University, Class of 1961. He served in the Army's National Guard. He was a member of AHEPA. Mr. Palassis was also an avid enthusiast and collector of model trains. He is most remembered for his generous smile and warm greetings at Trotter's Restaurant.
He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Demetrious E. "Jim" and Cookie Palassis of Hollywood, S.C., sister and brother-in-law, Rita P. and George Castanas of Charlotte, N.C., nieces and nephews, Nicholas and Elaina Palassis of Charleston, S.C., and Nicole, Dina, and Demetre Castanas of Charlotte, N.C., and special friend, Janet Varn of Charleston, S.C.
The family is sincerely appreciative of his doctors and the ICU nursing staff of Roper Hospital, and the many relatives and friends that visited him in the hospital.

She was a member of James Island Presbyterian Church and the Kings Daughters. She was a graduate of Memminger High School and Rice Business College. She was a retired Secretary with the S.C. Dept. of Natural Resources.
She is survived by 2 sons: Charles F. Davis of Wadmalaw Island, S.C. and Henry W. Davis of Kentwood, La.; 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sisters, Nellie Baker Oswald, Nell Frampton Hills and one brother, Henry W. "Hal" Frampton, Jr.

Mr. Matthews was born in Palo Alto, Calif., a son of W. Clay and Daisy Crowson Matthews. He was a Special Olympic Medallist in swimming. He was also an avid runner.

MANNING - Mary Elizabeth Bryant Poole, 75, widow of Charles Travis Poole, died Monday, January 28, 2002, in Summerville Medical Center.
Born June 21, 1926, in Manning, she was a daughter of the late George and Beulah Carraway Bryant. She was a lifelong member of Home Branch Baptist Church.
Surviving are a son, George T. Poole of Summerville; a daughter, Annette Gish of Shelbyville, Ky.; a sister, Dorothy Jauncey of San Diego, Calif.; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Beulah Aline Geddings.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, in Home Branch Baptist Church. Rev. John Hall will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday evening at Stephens Funeral Home in Manning.

ZACK, Robert
GEORGETOWN - Robert Edward Zack, 59, died January 27, 2002, at his residence.
Mr. Zack was born in Westfield, Mass., on November 18, 1942, a son of the late Stanley Edward Zack and Mary Zyhowski Zack. He was a graduate of the University of Georgia and received a Masters Degree from the University of Missouri. Mr. Zack served as a Captain in the U.S. Army Medical Services Corps. during the Viet Nam War from 1968 until 1971. He moved to Georgetown in 1971 to establish the Mosquito Abatement Program and was currently employed by DHEC as an environmental quality control manager. Mr. Zack was a member of St. Mary Our Lady of Ransom Catholic Church.
Surviving are, his wife, Patricia "Pat" Onufer Zack of Georgetown; a son, Anthony "Tony" E. Zack and his wife, Stacey of Florence; a daughter, Julie Z. La Cross and her husband, Michael of Raleigh, N.C.; a sister, Barbara Z. Grealis and her husband George of Chicopee, Mass.; a grandson, Edward Cantley Zack of Florence and a granddaughter, Genevieve La Cross of San Jose, Calif.; five nieces and nephews.
The Funeral Mass will be Thursday afternoon, January 31, 2002, at one o'clock at St. Mary Our Lady of Ransom Catholic Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Patrick J. Stenson. Burial will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens under the direction of the Georgetown Chapel of MAYER FUNERAL HOME.
A Vigil Service will be held Wednesday evening, January 30, 2002, at 5:30 o'clock, at the funeral home chapel followed by visitation from 6 until 8.

Mrs. Miller was born in Clarence, La., and was the daughter of the late Robert and Mary Jackson. She was a member of Choctaw Island Baptist Church in Natchitoches, La. She was the widow of Ocey Miller.
Surviving are, a daughter, Carolyn M. Salley, a son-in-law, Noah L. Salley, Jr.; two grandchildren, Adria Jeannine Salley and Christopher Bryan Salley, all of Walterboro, S.C.
