MOORER, Richard
Richard B. Moorer, 81, of Moncks Corner, a retired Charleston Naval Shipyard employee, died Tuesday at a Moncks Corner hospital.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at RUSSELL FUNERAL CHAPEL. Burial will be in Carolina Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Moorer was born March 4, 1920 at Ridgeville, S.C., a son of Mr. and Mrs. George Moorer. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Berkeley Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Phillips Moorer of Moncks Corner; daughter, Betty Jean Joannini of Cordesville; two sons, Ted Anderson of Mechanicsville, Virginia; John E. Haselden of West Columbia.

ALVERSON, SR., James
CAMPOBELLO - Rev. James H. Alverson, Sr., 76, of 3920 Compton Bridge Road, died January 29 at his home. A native of Spartanburg County, he was the son of William Frank and Ruth Ballew Alverson.
He attended North Greenville College and Southeastern Baptist Seminary. He was a US Army veteran having served in the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Walnut Hill Baptist Church and pastored the following churches: Walnut Hill Baptist Church, Cordesville Baptist Church, Pyerian Baptist Church, Limestone Baptist Church, Motlow Creek Baptist Church, Mount Zion Baptist Church, Great Swamp Baptist Church and served as interim pastor at Fingerville Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Julia Parker Alverson; a son, James H. "Hal" Alverson, Jr. of Chesnee; a daughter, Julie A. Henderson of the home; a brother, George Alverson of Cannons Campground; 4 sisters, Thelma Atkins of Boiling Springs, Doris Clayton of Gramling; Iris Justice of Inman, Mildred Phillips of Lyman; three grandchildren, Michela Alverson, Cale Alverson and Corey Blocker.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5:30-8:00 p.m. at PETTY FUNERAL HOME, Landrum, S.C.

DAVISON, Horace
Horace L. Davison, 77, of Hanahan, died Monday, January 28, 2002, in a local hospital.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, at Ferndale Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Carolina Memorial Gardens, directed by CAROLINA MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME.
Born July 24, 1924, in Birmingham, Alabama, he was a son of the late Henry Herbert and Iris Iva McKoy Davison. Mr. Davison was a retired sound lab engineer technician with the Charleston Naval Shipyard. He was a member of Ferndale Baptist Church and attended the University of South Alabama. Mr. Davison was an Army veteran of WWII and the Korean conflict.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Audrey Palmer Davison; daughters, Linda Jordan of Killeen, Texas, Carol Tucker of Madison, Alabama, Marty Besancon of Charleston, Jennifer Wyckoff of Summerville, and Rita Demott of Allegan, Michigan; a son, Paul Davison of Hanahan; sisters, Geraldine Thompkins of Maryville, Tenn., Joan Squires of Mobile, Alabama, and Audrey Weed of Birmingham, Alabama; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Mr. Davison was preceded in death by three sisters, Mildred Blake, Frances Tate, and Peggy Ruth Tate, and one brother, Melvin Davison.

MCCULLOUGH, James
Mr. James Henry McCullough, age 94 of 1310 Mill Creek Road, Iva, S.C. formerly of Hanahan, S.C., husband of the late Maymie Burriss McCullough, died Monday, January 28, 2002 at the Anderson Area Medical Center in Anderson, S.C.
Born in Iva, S.C. on January 6, 1908, Mr. McCullough was the son of the late Jay McCullough and the late Etta Wiles McCullough. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was retired from the Commissioners of Public Works as Superintendent of the Water Plant in Charleston, S.C. and served as a consultant for three years. He completed the 10th grade at Lowndesville High School also an I.C.S. course in Sanitary Engineering. He was a former member of the Charleston Industrial Management Club and served on the Executive Committee for several years. He was a life member of the Iva Masonic Lodge #238, and a member of the York Rite Masonic Bodies at Charleston, S.C. He was a Shriner and member of the Omar Temple at Charleston, S.C., and past patron and former member of the Order of the Eastern Star. He was a past royal patron of the Order of the Amaranth and past president and former member of the National Federated Craft #136. He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran. He was the oldest member of the Union Baptist Church, also the oldest charter member of Highland Park Baptist Church in Hanahan, S.C. where he was ordained as deacon and served for several years.
Surviving are four sisters-in-law, Carolyn McCullough of Columbus, Ga., Kathleen McCullough of Fort Mill, S.C., Reba Manning of Anderson, S.C. and Margaret Edwards of Augusta, Ga.; four nephews and four nieces.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Ethyl, Wilton and Jack McCullough and sister, Sarah M. Craven.
Services will be held on Thursday, January 31, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at Union Baptist Church, Iva, S.C. with Dr. Martin Wiles officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The body is at THE MCDOUGALD FUNERAL HOME where the family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 30, 2002 and will be placed in the church at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday.
The family suggests that memorials be made to Union Baptist Church, 703 Barnes Station Road, Iva, S.C. 29655.

KINGSTREE - Mrs. Frances Seymour Stephenson, 69, wife of Jimmy Stephenson, died Tuesday in a Charleston hospital.
Mrs. Stephenson was born in Florence, a daughter of the late Wesley and Tencie Seymour. She was a graduate of McLeod School of Nursing and retired Registered Nurse. Mrs. Stephenson was secretary and bookkeeper for Jimmy's Sign Service and a member of the Believers Bible Chapel, where she served as a Sunday School teacher. She was active in Children's Ministries and Samaritan's Purse.
Surviving, in addition to her husband of Kingstree, son and daughter-in-law: Craig and Robyn Stephenson of Kingstree, daughter and son-in-law: Jean and David Branton of Summerville, grandson, David Scott Stephenson Branton of Summerville, and a sister, Dr. Betty Jean Seymour of Richmond, Va.

MACMILLAN, Rebecca
Rebecca S. Macmillan, 90, passed away in Tampa, Fla., on Thursday, December 13, 2001. She is survived by her daughter, Jeannette Royster of Tampa, Fla.; her son, Edward Macmillan of Reno, Nev.; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was raised in the Charleston Orphanage, was a longtime Charleston resident, and a member of Rutledge Baptist Church. A Memorial Service will be held at graveside at 11 a.m., February 2, 2002, at Magnolia Cemetery with Rev. Charles Martin officiating.
TURNER, David
David Allen Turner, 33, of Lakeridge, died Sunday, January 27, in Frederick County, Va.
He was a Journeyman Electrician at Freestate Electrical Construction, and was completing the Master Electrician Apprentice program. David also held the rank of Sergeant in the 229th Engineer Platoon of the Army National Guard, stationed in Fredericksburg.
David was active in 4-H, where he assisted with his daughter's archery and target shooting competitions. He loved the outdoors, and was an avid hunter. He was a well-respected member of the NORVA Rod and Gun Club, known for his strong work ethic.
He is survived by his fiancée, Martha Morgan of Lakeridge; his daughter, Meghan Turner of La Keridge; his parents, Lee and Sherrill Turner of Lakeridge; his brothers, Stacy and Drew Turner of Lakeridge; his grandmother, Annie Mae Rumph of Charleston, S.C.; and many, many friends who love and miss him.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m., Wednesday, at MILLER'S FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, 3200 Golansky Blvd., Woodbridge.
There will be a funeral service at 1 p.m., Thursday, at Miller's Funeral Home and Crematory, 3200 Golansky Blvd., Woodbridge.

Wanda Korpanty of Summerville, S.C., widow of Stephen E. Korpanty, died January 28, 2002. She was born April 3, 1924 in New York City, the daughter of the late Marko and Anna Szelwach.
Survivors include, two sons: Kenneth R. Korpanty of Summerville; Robert S. Korpanty of Newport News, Va., and two daughters; Susan Gomez of Palm Coast, Fla.; Diane Kear of Moncks Corner: six grandchildren and one great-grandchild and her loyal friend, Bill Sayle.
