Nadine Daniels Jowers, 76, died unexpectedly on the morning of Friday, February 8, 2002. Her funeral service will be conducted, 2 o'clock, Sunday afternoon, in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., GREENRIDGE ROAD CHAPEL. Entombment will follow at Carolina Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at Stuhr's Chapel one hour prior to the service on Sunday.
Nadine was born in Hanna, S.C., on November 27, 1925, a daughter of the late Henry Owl Daniels and Evie Poston Daniels. She was the manager of the former Starlite Restaurant on Yeamans Hall Road and was a member of the First Southern Methodist Church of Summerville. In addition to her parents, her husband, Thomas Earl Jowers on November 8, 2002, preceded her in death. Her brother Henry Daniels, sisters, Belva Poston, Lily Jones, and Mabel Daniels also preceded her in death.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sonia and Robert Zwick of North Charleston, her sons and daughters-in-law, William E. and Elizabeth Jowers of Goose Creek, Daniel D. and Dianne Jowers of Summerville, Carol L. and Pamela Jowers of Ladson. Her sisters, Dora D. Hyman and four grandchildren also survive.

BASKETT, Thomas
Captain Thomas S. Baskett died February 7, 2002 in a local Charleston retirement home where he had been living with his wife, Lois, for two years.
Captain Baskett was born in Webster Groves, Mo., on September 4, 1913. He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1935 and served with distinction as a submarine commander in the Pacific in World War II. He was awarded two Navy Crosses, two Silver Stars and two Bronze Stars.
Following the war, he served at the New London Naval Base as a submarine commander and subsequently at the U.S. Embassy in London, England, and in Norfolk, Va., where he commanded a destroyer. He later attended the National War College in Washington, D.C., and served three years in Yokosuka, Japan, where he commanded a submarine squadron. His last assignment was as commandant of the U.S. Naval Observatory in Washington, D.C.
Following retirement from the Navy, he earned his Masters Degree in Mathematics from George Washington University and taught at Georgetown University for seven years. He retired a second time in 1974, and he and Lois split their time between Charleston, S.C., and Pittsfield, Vt., where they also owned a house.
Captain Baskett is survived by his wife, Lois, his son, Thomas R. Baskett living in Lawrenceville, N.J., his grandson, Thomas S. Baskett living in Livingston, Mont., and his great-granddaughter, Dana Baskett also of Livingston, Mont.

Mr. Merritt was born Feb. 27, 1916 in Williston, SC, a son of Franklin Thomas Merritt and Katherine Jardin League Merritt. Mr. Merritt is a member of the First Baptist Church, Moncks Corner where he taught the men's Sunday school class and was a former chairman of the Board of Deacons. Mr. Merritt was an avid
hunter and fisherman. Prior to his employment for Berkeley County he worked for Flack Jones Lumber Co. of Summerville for many years. Mr. Merritt is a Navy veteran of WWII. He was a graduate of Williston-Elko High School and attended the University of South Carolina. He was preceded in death by a sister, Anna Merritt Montgomery.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Louise Irvin Merritt; a daughter and son-in-law, Sarah Lucille and Ron Thompson of Herriman, TN; a son and a daughter-in-law, F. BIGELOW, Claudia
PAMLICO - Claudia Jordan Bigelow, 93, widow of Archie Rufus Bigelow, Sr., of Pamplico and North Charleston, died Saturday, February 9, 2002, in Lexington, S.C. She was born February 15, 1908, in Olanta, and grew up in the Evergreen community, daughter of the late Norman Jordan and Minnie Smith. Services are being handled by CAIN-POSTON FUNERAL HOME.
Mrs. Bigelow was a long time resident of North Charleston, S.C., where she was a civilian administrative employee of Charleston Naval Supply Center. She was an active member of the North Charleston United Methodist Church where she was President of the United Methodist Women, a circle leader, and Sunday School teacher for over 50 years.
She is survived by two sons, Ralph Jordan Bigelow (Beth) of Florence, and Rev. Archie Rufus Bigelow, Jr. (Martha) of Irmo; a daughter, Margaret Anne "Peggy" Smith (The Rev. Dr. F. Oscar) of Maggie Valley, N.C. Also surviving are ten grandchildren, Antionette B. Caldwell of Charlotte, Kelley Anne B. Burr of Lugoff, Ralph Jordan Bigelow, Jr., of Wilmington, N.C., Diane B. Sigmon of Darlington, Lynn B. Watson of Irmo, Archie Rufus Bigelow, III, of Irmo, Dr. Franklin O. Smith III of Cincinnati, Ohio, Steven B. Smith of Charlotte, Lt. Col. Michael S. Smith of Warner Robins, Ga., and William C. Smith of Charlotte; and 17 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Annie Lou J. Hill (Jack) of Bowie, Md. Preceding her in death was an infant son, John William Bigelow and seven brothers, Liston Jordan, George Jordan, Herbert Jordan, Norman Jordan, Lonnie Jordan, Charlie Jordan and Dickie Jordan.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, February 10, at CAIN-POSTON FUNERAL HOME. Funeral services will be Monday, February 11, 2002, at 2 p.m., in Cain-Poston Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Cooper Stonestreet and the Rev. Chad Davis. Interment will follow in Evergreen Baptist Church Cemetery. Lillie Mosley Bragg, 55, of Ladson, died Thursday, February 7, 2002. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, February 11, 2002, at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Carolina Memorial Gardens. Born February 11, 1947, in Camden, South Carolina. She was a daughter of the late Johnny Mosley and Lozzie Bell Thompson Mosley. Mrs. Mosley was a homemaker, loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She is survived by her husband, Marvin Smith Bragg, Jr., of Ladson; daughters, Sheila Aikman of Ladson, Tammy Davies of Summerville, Cynthia Lynn Register of Fayetteville, North Carolina; sisters, Shirley Branham of Camden, and Theresa Stoner of Columbia; and a brother, Johnny Mosley, Jr., of Camden, South Carolina; and a granddaughter, Leanne Aikman. The family will be receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
